Celtic Diary Saturday May 7; Super Injunction ? Or Spineless Goons ?

After the Offshore Game report hit the interweb yesterday there seemed no hiding place for the SFA.

They have to say something, surely ?

The doors of Hamden will be creaking under the pressure from the media demanding answers, forcing a response….

It’s time to get this thing out into the open and finally get people talkng about it  who know what went on behind closed doors.

So was there a response from the SFA ?

No.

Don’t worry, the media can’t miss this time. all they have to do is ask for comments…

Did any of the sports media pounce on the story and demand answers ?

No. In fact there wasn’t a single comment from a single Scottish sports -or other -journalist.

They just ignored it.

As though it never happened.

Leaving aside whether or not you believe anything improper went on at the SFA, or is still going on, or whatever, the accusations are out there, and they must be dealt with.

So why would the hacks north of the border steadfastly and staunchly refuse to ask questions, to pry or  to poke, to stir things around a bit, but above all at least acknowledge there is a story here ?

There has to be a reason, and the only one that makes any sense is some kind of injunction or super injunction that prevents the media in Scotland from talking about it.

On what grounds a super injunction could be granted is a little more uncertain, and of course the masonic cabal could never be certain of securing a decision through the courts, as they cannot and would not bribe or attempt to influence any lawlord.

Although there may be one or two who wouldn’t need influencing…

Maybe no-one is allowed to talk about it, or allowed to talk about why they can’t talk about it.

Except they can’t tell the common man not to talk about it, because that would mean they’ve talked about it. And they can’t tell all of us not to talk about it, because we’d want to know what we can’t talk about, and they can’t tell us, so they have to pretend nothing is happening.

And if no-one tells you not to talk about it because they can’t talk about it, how am i to know that by talking about it , I’m breaching a rule that says I can’t talk about it.

Ridiculous.

Look, either there is an injunction of some kind in place or the media in Scotland are spineless goons who have betrayed the trust of their readers, viewers and listeners by not reporting a major story.

Actually, it doesn’t matter what they are afraid of, but whatever it is it’s got the whole lot of them hiding under their beds hoping it’ll go away.

Which it won’t, and the longer they ignore it, the more they are looking like they , as with the SFA, are also unfit for purpose.

In the meantime, maybe we could ask Ladbrokes and William hill how they feel about their name being seen side by side with alleged corruption ?

Won’t they demand answers ?

David Williams at Ladbrokes is their head of media.

 (david.williams@ladbrokes.co.uk)

Over at William hill, who are the Scottish Cup sponsors, you could ask them  if they are concerned about allegations of corruption and cheating ahead of their showpiece match.

Jon Ivan-Duke is your man there.

 jivan-duke@williamhill.co.uk

Well, if the press aren’t doing it, we’ll have to do it ourselves.

Of late, the press are not covering themselves in glory, and the main offender is the Daily Record, once the biggest selling paper in the country, proudly independent of southern interference and concentrating on Scottish issues.

It’s losing readers at a rate which can only be considered as gross negligence, and it hasn’t helped itself this week.

If you thought the paper had an agenda against all things Celtic, you would probably have found enough in the last two days or so to build a pretty strong case.

Remember this ?

Compare it with this, from Thursday…

Then there was the story about an insensitive Celtic, and Peter Lawwell, and safe standing… which contained out of date quotes, and implied that Celtic should not have made an announcement on the new safe standing area, as the timing , so close to the Hillsborough verdict was somehow “crass and insensitive ” .

Celtic, as we know , have been working on the safe standing area for quite some time, and it was only due to season book renewals , with the new stadium map outlining the area, that anyone noticed.

Of course, though, some people will only see what they want to see.

The story first appeared in the Telegraph, and was picked up and jazzed up by the Record, forcing their editor, Murray Foote, to apologise.

“An article which appeared on our website on Thursday May 5 headlined “Celtic safe standing announcement branded ‘insensitive’ by Hillsborough campaigner” stated that the club’s chief executive, Peter Lawwell, had announced plans for safe standing at Celtic Park the previous day.

!We would like to make clear that Celtic had announced in June 2015 that a safe standing section would be introduced at Celtic Park and that Peter Lawwell did not make any announcement regarding safe standing on 4 May as we had reported.

We apologise for this error and are happy to set the record straight.”

There is no reason for any of us to buy the paper anymore, and it should be allowed to ease its way towards oblivion.

It appears that it’s main rival, The Sun, has spotted a gap in the market.

Remember the couple of fell good stories earlier in the week ? Celtic feel good stories ?

Well, how about this today ?

Theres no point in buying these papers for their news output, but, and I may be way off the mark here, there appears to be a polarisation in editorial policy  starting to take shape. Thats if we accept there may be some sort of policy driving these brands forward.

Is one paper pandering to the green half of town, having decided that the other lot aren’t worth the effort ?

I wouldn’t say go out and buy these rags, but it could be funny to watch this develop.

Congratulations go to the u-20 development squad, who completed their season yesterday with a 2-1 win over Motherwell.

U20 champions Celtic completed their Development League fixtures unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Motherwell on Friday.

Tommy McIntyre’s side, who clinched the title in early April, won 28 and drew four of their 32 matches, scoring 71 goals and conceding just 15.

Hamilton Accies were second in the table, with last season’s winners Aberdeen in third place and St Johnstone fourth.

Celtic will be presented with the U20 trophy at Sunday’s first-team game against Aberdeen at Celtic Park, which is live on Sky Sports with a 12.30pm kick-off.

Theres a lot going on before kick off tomorrow, so get in early.

1. At 10:30am join Lisbon Lion, Jim Craig, the Celtic Graves Society and Celtic Historian, Terry Dick for the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the original Celtic Park off Janefield Street East.

2. There’ll be a carnival atmosphere on the Celtic Way from11:00am, where balloon artists, stilt walkers and juggling hoppers will be providing pre-match entertainment and even a classic Hillman Imp (a car synonymous with 1967) will be making an appearance.

3. Joining the entertainers on the Celtic Way will be our Celtic Academy coaches who’ll be hosting free street soccer coaching sessions for fans of all ages to pick up some new skills.

4. We’re delighted to welcome members of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign to Celtic Park on Sunday, you can show your support at 12:15pm as we welcome them on the pitch to reinforce the solidarity shown between Celtic and Liverpool supporters.

5. As always we advise that you allow enough time when travelling to the match. London Road is currently closed to Westbound traffic and a single lane heading East could cause delays on approach to the stadium.

And the Green Brigade will be celebrating their first ten years…

Run sammy run’s satirical gem lifted the caption competition yesterday…

Here’s a picture to make you laugh, and add a comment to if you like…

A great read. They media are humiliating themselves over this Offshore Game report.

As for the Hillsborough fiasco in the Record: it was an absolute disgrace. Celtic and its fans would never be insensitive to the 96 or their families, as I explain here:

Well said Clumpany, i will be at Cellic park tomorrow to show solidarity with my Liverpool brothers.
I remember vividly watching that game, the images are etched into my brain, apart from the carnage what i remember is the cages built to keep supporters caged in like animals at the zoo.
Cellic and Liverpool will always have a close relationship, forged also by the magnificant and sheer empathy highlighted by the sympathetic work of the Dalgliesh family.
As for the Scottish media, scum just scum.
All the Cellic family should read only the great works undertaken by yourself,Ralphy,Joe,Paul and James Forrest and all the other Cellic family bloggers.
So please keep on keeping on.H.H.

Peter Lawwell,
If you are reading the diary today hear me, there will be no ‘ moving on ‘ at our club or in Scottish football until resolution 12 has been fully resolved.
No matter what manager is put in place or players signed, it matters nothing if there is a dishonest and broken game.
This isn’t about Celtic it’s about Scottish football’s integrity, at this moment there is no integrity!
The Celtic support has had enough of the cheating and the lying in and around our game.

P.S. Have you not resigned from your post at the SFA yet?
What bonus do you get from them?

Peter, it’s time to start a fight, if you aren’t willing to fight for Celtic, fuck off!

Sean,
There are many battles ahead at Parkhead, my fear is that there is no one up for a fight, to fight for our club in general.
The PR dept is and has been a joke at Celtic for years, allowing press conferences to be hijacked with question after fucking question about ” Rangers “?
Why do they allow this?
Let me take over the PR department, I’d have the same ‘ journalists ‘ stuttering with nerves when they came into Celtic Park.
It’s quite simple to sort out, ask one fucking question about ” Rangers ” and you don’t come back through those front fucking doors….got it!

Ralph,

Is there a clash between Celtic Graves and The Green Brigade?

Before tomorrow’s game, my kin are going to The North East corner of CP at 10.30 for the unveiling of a plaque to mark the original ground. This has been organised by Celtic Graves Society.

I see that The Green Brigade are planning an event also, starting at the London Road CSC at 11.15.

I hope they have co-ordinated. It would be a real pity to dilute either because we haven’t talked.

Maybe it doesn’t really matter and it’s just me.

To those who might not be familiar with Kathleen Largey,or Kathleen Thomson as she became here are some words from republican news items.
Revolution in the air

BY PEADAR WHELAN

WHEN Miriam Makeba, the legendary South African singer, died in November last year, the world lost a great singer.
The South African nation’s collective heart missed a beat as the woman, known as ‘Mama Afrika’, passed away.
Stilled was the voice that gave expression to the South African people’s struggle for freedom over four decades.
In exile for most of those years – the apartheid regime revoked her passport in 1963 after she testified against its race laws at the United Nations – Makeba never stopped campaigning, on her people’s behalf, for justice.
Her music was her political weapon and she wielded it until the day she died performing in a concert in support of Roberto Saviano in his stand against the Mafia-like Camorra in Italy.
Irish republicans were in a similar position in 1979 when the voice of Irish republicanism was stilled by the death of
Kathleen McCready, famous as Kathleen Largey and the voice of The Flying Column, one of the finest ballad singers in Belfast. The 30th anniversary of Kathleen’s death occurs next Monday, 9 February.

INSPIRATION
Along with her husband, Eamonn, they formed the band in the late 1960s and travelled the length and breadth of the country, performing to audiences invigorated by the revolutionary mood of the time.
Kathleen delivered those patriotic songs and ballads that told the story of heroic resistance to the occupation and enslavement of Ireland by the British in a way that inspired her listeners to action.
As a republican, her activism was her music and her music was her activism.
While our political enemies dismiss these songs as, ‘rabble rousers’, the fact that they were being performed to audiences all over Ireland ensured that the history of resistance that the revisionists wanted to bury was being celebrated.
And, more importantly, they were being celebrated at a time of intense struggle when the British war machine and its loyalist surrogates were attacking nationalist communities day and daily.
It was important then that morale within nationalist communities was kept up and the Flying Column was foremost in ensuring that the confidence that brought the people on to the streets maintained.
The headlines of the day may have been captured by John Hume, Gerry Fitt, Eamon McCann and Bernadette Devlin but Kathleen Largey made her mark on the youth of the day through her songs.
The generation of young nationalists politicised by the Civil Rights protests, who witnessed the savage brutality meted out to peaceful protesters by unionist stormtroopers in the uniforms of the B-Specials and the RUC, knew that the demands of the Civil Rights movement did not go far enough.
They knew, instinctively, that it was ‘a United Ireland or nothing’.
Martin McGuinness recalls what an important role there was for songs of struggle.
“I recall concerts here in Derry that Kathleen performed at and it was a great morale boost for republicans here at a time when they were under fierce pressure under British occupation. People warmed to her because they knew she was singing from the heart. She lifted our spirits.”

CARNEGIE HALL
Writing about Kathleen Largey, whom he met her in 1972, Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams recalled that he knew Kathleen through her songs before he come to know her as a friend.
“Kathleen McCready was one of our city’s foremost ballad singers. She sang all over the country and could have enjoyed a lucrative music career if she had kept to conventional’ music.
“Indeed, during a sojourn in the USA she sang in Carnegie Hall. But Kathleen was first and foremost a republican, a member of Cumann na mBan, and when she joined up with Eamonn Largey they, along with some other fine Belfast musicians, formed The Flying Column.
“That was in the late 1960s and in 1970 and 1971 the Flying Column’s recordings, Folk Time in Ireland and Four Green Fields, were best sellers.”
Tragically, Eamonn Largey was killed in a car accident in July 1973. He and Kathleen had two daughters. Áine was about 18 months old while Máire was six weeks.
Adams wrote how he “watched Eamonn’s funeral from a side street as it made its sad, slow way up the Falls Road. The British Army watched from another corner. Eamonn would have been delighted.”
Not long after Eamonn died, Adams was arrested.
As a firm ally of Green Cross, Kathleen soon became heavily involved with Republican Prisoners’ Welfare. Adams recalls one of Kathleen’s more adventurous actions after Long Kesh was burned down in 1974.
“She emptied the contents of a friend’s clothes shop and transported them up to the jail so that within days of the place being reduced to ashes out of the ashes arose a crowd of bogging dirty POWs kitted out in the latest and most fashionable flairs and Showaddywaddy gear”.

HARRY THOMPSON
It was around this time that ‘Wee Harry’, as Adams calls him, came into the picture.
Harry Thompson started to work for the prisoners and he and Kathleen became very close.
It was during this time that Kathleen was diagnosed with cancer and when she and Harry were married in June 1976 she had already undergone surgery. She refused to acquiesce to her illness and continued with a hectic schedule of prisoners’ welfare work. She also worked for the comfort of cancer patients.
By now the protests in Armagh Women’s Prison and the H-Blocks had commenced. Kathleen kept very close to the women prisoners in Armagh during this crucial time. Kathleen visited both prisons frequently. She and Wee Harry were a great team.
Until this time Kathleen was singing regularly for the republican cause. This had been her lifelong contribution to the struggle. She had a special and long-standing affection for the work of the National Graves Association and a long involvement, since the time of her old friend Jimmy Steele, with the Belfast Graves.

FRUSTRATION
Confined more and more to the house and frequently in hospital, her inability to continue this work was the cause of almost constant frustration.
Once, not long before her death, Colette Adams found Kathleen in tears. Someone had sent her a new song about the H-Blocks and she was trying to record a demo tape on her tape recorder. But her once strong beautiful singing voice was victim also of the illness which was now in her lungs. Kathleen just couldn’t get enough breath.
Her records were still selling well during this period and not long before her death she released The Price of Justice.
By now Kathleen was in her final struggle with the disease which killed her and on the Kerry track, if you listen carefully, you will hear how she had to battle valiantly to control her breathing.
By February 1979, Kate was confined for a long time and it was on 9 February that she died.

The Labour Party in Scotland reminds me so much of what is wrong with Celtic.
We have a party which was so much part of our make up growing up,that to see it in such a mess leaves me feeling empty. Much the same as supporting Celtic at this moment in time.
I grew up in the Labour Party,my grandfather, father used to pick up the members to take them to vote, they were involved in door to door knocking, and ensuring when people were on strike, bags of messages were left at the doors of the strikers.
Celtic were also their love a common bond,of political and football ethos.
We have in the Labour Party over the past years leaders incapable of leading,a terrible choice by the party for leaders who do not have the skill or persona to defeat weak opposition.
Celtic and the Labour Party, linked to both.
I love my club,I love my party, but I am sickened by both.
Sickened that they lost what they had.
The Labour Party stood with the Tories,to defeat hope over fear, the Celtic board stood with the sfa,to defeat Truth and justice, over cheating and injustice.
Has the time came for me to walk away from both, nearly,I have done from the Labour Party,as I didn’t vote for the first time in my adult life. To walk away from Celtic is something I thought I would ever contemplate, but it us coming closer.
If the board do not do what is right, then it is time for me to leave, the club that I love.
I hate myself for thinking like this, but as I take my seat tomorrow, with my grandson, and applaud the Liverpool justice campaign, then think that we knew they were right, and we know we are right, that we now have to prove that our club our supporters have been lied to,have been criminalised, yet no one cares. Then this might mean the end for me.
I hope Res 12 is resolved,I would hope our club comes out all guns blazing, but if they don’t then it’s over.
Hail Hail.

Great post, I agree totally, it’s sickening to see hundreds of posts from tims who have been going for so long and part of the Celtic Story, say they are ready for chucking it.
Lawell and Desmond are driving away fans who have made Celtic a huge part of their lives.
The signs aren’t good.
Celtic should have made a statement of the back of the offshore tax report saying they supported an independent inquiry into the SFA. That way our media would not be able to totally blank the report and make sure it was reported.
Looks like our board are part of the problem.
Change tact or be sacked.

Same goes for anyone else who wishes to be be connected or involved at any level with the Club.
If he was to get involved it would be rank hypocrisy in my and many others eyes looking in.

As far as I know the tax havens are legal. Rich people take advantage of that legality. The people who allow tax havens are politicians and law makers. We probably all work for companies doing exactly the same thing. Closing tax loopholes are a for governments to sort out and barter and fairer tax laws.

Great post again Jimmybee,i completely agree with your sentiments and i echo them, its exactly the same for me.
Having read other blogs i sense a moving forward on res 12,this latest offshore tax company info.confirms everything that we know has been going on and i sense that very soon the lid is going to blow off, fingers crossed it will be very soon.
Other posters seem to suggest a game by game purchase until things are resolved, that i think will be my stance a non renewal until then.
My oldest son and i will be trackside at the bottom of the J.Stein stand, midway between the corner flag and the goals nearest the main stand,if you are able it would be good to meet, just shout out mike and i will wave if not,no problemo, enjoy the game.

Track side at Cellic Park. Team out warming up and the sun is coming out. Nearly called the team right. No updates to follow as I’m going to get blotto.

Half time.
Atmosphere great, team playing great. Back four look organised and composed. Good balance.
Midfield composed and aggressive.
Why was Kazim not playing? Roberts brilliant.
Got to try and keep him period. Hold him hostage or something.;)

Well 5 in a row and counting. Very strong first half performance and that is the type of football we need to sustain for 70 or 80 minutes. Congrats to the management and team. And let’s look forward to our next CL Odessy.

Todays game , good goals but ad always underwhelming. Players went into there shells in second half and ambrose causes total dissaray at the back! , lack of creativity in the middlr as rogic had a poor game. Griff for some reason kept going to the left side so couldnt get his goals.

what is going on that we have a striker who has been fantastic but not playing well and we have no one to replace him because ckr isnt there , cole is awol and we have count them three strikers on loan!

Where has everybody gone? “Oh it’s al gone quiet on here”. Enjoying a wee refreshment or two in the early evening sunshine. Well done to everyone at Celtic FC on getting to five in a row. I was going to say on a job well done but at least it’s job done, so onwards and upwards from here on in, with a new manager due in and hopefully a better playing style to look forward to next season.
Charlie Saiz did state way back that we would win the league by double figure points, so well done to you sir. I hope you had a bet on it. Hail hail to all on e tims. Enjoy your night.

Pleased that will be the last time I have to witness a deila team In the flesh. Should of lost that game the amount of chances they misse. I notice they didn’t have Ronny speak to the fans. Just leave now. Jobs done. Shut the door on your way out please
