Celtic Diary Tuesday March 22: The Next Step..

It appears that the club have decided to take out an insurance policy where next seasons champions League qualifiers are concerned. This could be interpreted as a lack of faith in the manager, if it turns out he does get another crack at it, or just the board deciding that they fancy one of those “fact finding ” junkets to the USA.

Celtic have accepted an invitation to take part in the “prestigious” International Champions cup, which takes place in the home of football over in the United States. Looks like our trans-atlantic cousins, having flushed out the corruption at FIFA are making their move to entice the big clubs to come and play with them instead.

Other big guns, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona , PSG , Bayern and , er, Leicester will be involved, and according to the Daily Mail, the organisers are the same company, Relevant Sports, who held meetings with Englands big five on the quiet to discuss a European super league..

As we know, the United States government , when Bush the Younger, was in charge  altered  the meaning of Lincolns famous Gettysburg address, substituting the word “business ” for the word “people ” when outlining exactly who government shoud be for, by and of.  A policy happily carried on by Barrack Obama and soon to be continued by Hilary Clinton, as the two major families in US politics continue their empire building. It would have been Jeb Bush ( the even younger ) , but when it became apparent he was the stupid one in that family, even Fox News thought Clinton was probably a better bet.

Is it too much to think that the FBI, when going after Sepp Blatter and co, were doing it to assist the massive US sports firms ?

Anyway, having dealt with the world conspiracy, now lets move on to the local ones…

The media still have it in for Ronny Deila, the Daily Record even managing to find s couple of supporters ( they probably looked on here) who didn’t enjoy the last couple of minutes of Saturdays Huddle and Cuddle when Tom Rogic slammed in the goal that just might turn out to be the defining moment of Deila’s Celtic career.

A bit like when Mark Robins saved Alex Ferguson from a certain sacking with his winning goal that took Manchester United to a cup win and subsequent domination of English football.

Too much ?  Maybe, but stranger things have happened, and sometimes all it takes is a little spark to start the fire…

The win couldn’t have come at a worse time, though. There’s an international break now, and no doubt Leigh Griffiths will hurt himself, Scott Brown will pull a muscle and Charlie Mulgrew will suddenly decide he wants to play in midfield again.

But it does give Ronny Deila a chance to sit back and analyse the season so far. He can look at what’s working and what isn’t, who is doing it for him, and who isn’t.

He could maybe arrange a scouting trip for John Collins, a five year mission to seek out new players, and observe different tactics. And if he spots anything, he could write to Ronny and let him know.

A full review of the scouting staff is an absolute must. It’s quite easy actually.

Call a meeting of those who scout, and who plan the scouting, and who sugggest who gets a contract. Then sit them down and distribute their p45s, wish them luck and tell them to fuck off.

Same with the PR department, though good luck in finding them before you get rid of them. In fact, the word is they were sacked several years ago, but cunningly they hung around, and when no-one noticed they just kept doing what they’ve been doing all along.

Fuck all.

This break affords Deila a chance to sit back, reflect, and decide how he wants to proceed. He may have come through the worse of it, and it may have toughened him up a bit. #

The next couple of weeks will see if he has learned anything off the field…you know, the bit about man management and not letting tails wag dogs…

Tell you something that is worrying me.

And it should worry you as well.

Mark McGhee has done quite well with Motherwell. He’s also Scotland number two, a job which garmers  the same amount of worldwide respect as the guy who colects the bibs after training for the Germany team, and he’s been commenting on players in the Scotland squad…such as Tony Watt-“He needs a smack ” and Scott Brown,,,(spot the connection ? ) where he said;

We are glad he is still around, [This will be his] 50th cap; he has got another 20 or 30 in him.

“I think the challenge he gets here is different from the challenge he gets at his club, and he rises to it and he really enjoys it.

“I think with the England game, he will want to be part of that.”

Despite all the talk of Martin O’Neill-mostly on here, to be honest-or Neil Lennon or anyone else, we know contact was made with Gordon Strachan to take over at Celtic, and we know he turned it down, but we also know who he reccomended last time when asked who should get the job.

Still, its better than Davie “gizzajob ” Moyes.

At least McGhee wouldn’t disappear down south at the first opportunity.

But as the season comes to an end, it looks like, barring accidents and honest mistakes, Deila will be here next term, and to be honest, if he does guide the club to a double despite the hysterical campaign against him, that shows a manager with a hell of a lot of focus and determination, so maybe it is only right to give him another shot.

Kristoffer Ajer, known in norway as a sort of Martin Odegaard with common sense, has gone on record as saying the club told him Deila would still be here when he got here, and if Ronny has been buying in the likes of Allan, Christie, Ajer and borrowing a Roberts, then it’s clear there is a rebuilding of csome sort going on, and another six minths wouldn’t hurt , i suppose, to see how it comes together.

Should he do it now ?

Probably, there is a case to integrate more of the young guns, but there is a conservatism in his thinking that means it’s unlikely. He’s going with the tried and trusted until we get over the line.

Although Erik Sviatchenko kind of defies that argument. The Dane has taken the place of Efe Ambrose and probably Dedryck Boyata in the first team. Oh, and that other bloke who’s always injured, Sorelegovic or something, and he seems to be enjoying it.

The goal was unbelievable. I was right behind Tom and saw him turn onto his left foot and hit it. I just thought ‘Yes, it’s going in’. It was such a good strike.

It was the first time I have seen the manager’s celebration after a game and it’s perfect. It would be nice to see more of it. It gives you goosebumps.

Goosebumps.

Our big ball breaking bastard of a centre half gets goosebumps when we score.

Away from all that now, and on to the serious stuff.

Last week, we ran a few articles on the Resolution 12 issue. Along with several other sites, it was designed to get the issue back on the agenda.

It’s moved on a bit now, and needs your attention.. it’s time for the train to pick up some speed..

As many will be aware, Stewart Regan recently dismissed any notion of the SFA taking action in the event of any adminstrative or licensing wrongdoing or oversight being pointed out to him. He also maintained that those who had supported Res 12 were effctively hiding behind social media names and so on and were in effect anonymous!

This is not so, as the organisation Regan heads up has been written to by a large commercial firm of solicitors who have clearly advised that they act on behalf of a distinct class of people, namely shareholders in Celtic pLC who signed up to and supported Res 12 at the 2013 AGM.

However, in order to leave the SFA with absolutely no room for manoevre or excuse for failing to answer any questions, and following on from various people posting on here that they would not object to their names being given to the solicitors who have been, and will be, writing to the authorities in furtherence of the resolution’s aims and objectives, it has been decided to ask for written mandates authosrising the solcitors to on behalf of individual shareholders:

Accordingly, a style of standard mandate is produced below.

The mandate keeps the solicitors right, and it authorises them to write on behalf of the signatories to the SFA, Celtic PLC and UEFA. It does not authroises the solicitors to take any other action other than correspond.

It also authorises the solicitors to liaise with those who have already been instructing them in relation to the terms and the detail of any correspondence – in other words we (myself, Canamalar, Auldheid and Morrisey) will oversee the terms of the letters on behalf of all who sign the mandate.

By signing the mandate you will not be responsible for incurring fees or charges – they will be taken care of separately.

Accordingly, if you are a shareholder and you wish to add yoiur name to those who are attempting to bring the SFA to heel via Res 12 and an approcah to UEFA please print and sign the mandate below and post the signed copy to:

 Mean City Media

Suite 5

 8 Sandyford Place

 Glasgow

At the same time, if you can scan the signed mandate you can e-mail it to jjoe88@hotmail.co.uk but it should also be posted.

If you cannot scan the signed mandate but have posted one, please drop a quick line to jjoe88@hotmail.co.uk to say that you have done so:

Can I stress that the sooner any mandates are signed and sent the better.

 Thanks

 BRTH

I —————————- residing at ——————————- being a registered shareholder in Celtic PLC hereby authosrise Messrs BLM solicitors, 13 Bath Street Glasgow G2 1HY to act on my behalf and in my name by corresponding with Celtic PLC, The Scottish Football Association, UEFA or any other body they see fit in relation to all matters concerning Resolution 12 which was formally placed on the agenda of the Annual General Meeting of Celtic PLC in November 2013 and which Resolution has been adjourned at each AGM thereafter. I further instruct and confirm, that you are hereby authorised to accept instructions on this matter from those shareholders who have already instructed BLM in this matter and with whom you have already been dealing with in relation to existing correspondence with Mr Andrew McKinlay of the SFA as they hold a mandate to instruct you on my behalf.

Do it, and help cleanse the game of the stench that has surrounded it for the least few years…

Although, in the interests of fairness and balance, here are the reasons not to do it..

See?

None.

Aside from that, there is also a petition to be signed. It’s important that all flanks are used in a co-ordinated attack, and so if you could have a look at this…

Petition against SFA

Above all. both of the serious bits above need to be shared with as many people as you can.

And now, the not so serious bits…

BBC Sportscene , which won’t be represented at the Britsh Television awards, came under a bit of criticism foir not interviewing Govan guardiola Mark Warburton after his wunderteam thre away a two goal lead in a defeat to Falkirk.

Don’t worry, an interview did take place, and we’ve got one of the stills and a quote.

Sundays…thanks to Mick, who should lure a few of the gullibillies with this one…

And to todays…

On the park this season it has been one unacceptable performance and result after another, we are limping towards the finish line.
If that is good enough for some then don’t moan if all goes Pete tong.
Celtic football club has standards and during Ronny Deila’s reign, those standards aren’t being met.
If it was the odd shite performance or result we could give it the ‘ ye cannae win every week ‘ chat, but it isn’t the odd game, it is week after week this season, players underused, played out of position and it is this that is having a detrimental effect on results and performances.
Talk of Deila hanging around for another ‘ crack ‘ at the Champions league should be met with laughter and rejection.
He doesn’t know his strongest side, he messes players about and has the man management skills of Basil Fawlty.
Listen we all know it can’t be swashbuckling, free flowing, goal fests every week, but it never is, I speak to guys who go to most games and they say it is dire.
I just about took the roof off the car on Saturday when Rogic scored at the death, but almost immediately felt that sinking feeling of bitter reality, that it shouldn’t be as difficult as this.
There has always been seasons where we have had to dig deep to win as we did on Saturday, but come on, we are digging results out most weeks.
Celtic should be far, far more convincing.

Deila here next year? I’m not convinced.

P.S. Shocking scenes in Brussels this morning, puts things in perspective a wee bit.

For someone who is a regular contributor to this site, 2 points from your post stick out for me;

I speak to guys who go to most games

I just about took the roof off the car when Rogic scored

What gives you, someone who apparently does not go to games, the right to virtually daily comment on Celtic. Are you just a member of the ‘armchair shamrock’ who don’t go to games but think what some guy told you is true.

How many games have you been at this season?

Before you reply, I have a 100% domestic and home European attendance this season, AGAIN.

John Patrick,
Firstly, what gives me the right to comment daily on Celtic, is the fact that I love my club and have done since I was knee high.
Secondly, I work Tuesday to Saturday every week, off on a Sunday and Monday, therefore getting to the games is difficult, work has to come first when you have a young family to look after.
Thirdly, I ask my mate how the game was and how we performed because I trust his judgement, I will also watch/record all the games that are on and make my own judgement.
How many games have I been to this season? Single figures I would say.
Glad you are enjoying my daily posts….

Aye, Monti I agree. This afternoon I was able to explain our failings tactically to table of Germans who had no problem understanding my glass, salt and pepper pot explanations. Can’t seem to fathom how a professional back room staff don’t get it.

it misses most that charlie saiz, andybhoy, monti and i could also win a league and cup double in this current set up of scottish football

to stagger over the line in the manner that we might (aberdeen still have a chance) is totally unacceptable

i can accept not winning in europe if the passion was there but aside from 25 mins v malmo and inter we have seen nothing

only 1 way its going to change and is remove the manager

bigger clubs sack their manaegrs after winning trophys and they have won 10 european cups… what makes this any different?

Sorry Delia, can’t be allowed to continue after this season regardless of results … sounds strange to say … but this management team and squad need a clear out and rebuild ASAP.WITH DIRECTION AND PLANNING!!!!

He’s had 2 years and several transfer windows and things are going backwards at a rate. Thanks for your efforts but shut the door on the way oot.

The promise of attacking high pressing game has never materialised …. It’s all be mentioned before.

Let’s get behind the team till end of season and hope for change and improvement …. HOPE because I worry that’s all we have at the moment.

FYI – I’ve watch Celtic actively since 1980 so a few years, many good and bad times but without waver.. but the current setup is making myself and many others(if not the majority) question the direction we are moving not in football terms but off the field.

Off the field is an entirely different matter.
For me that’s where the real issue lies.
Deilas plan is fine as far as I am concerned it’s the right approach for where we are situated as a Club.
This will take time to come to fruition.
As was always going to be the case.
I thought 3 – 5 years depending on what the Board do during this period.

I agree with the adoption of youth, but there are fundamental issues with the management team. A team of youngster giving there all is acceptable to me but this mundane dross is not.

1- Unable to motive players
2- Is there a divide in the dressing room
3- There has been no progress
4- Review and change tactics as required!
5- Void of a Plan B or C or any!
6- Crossing, delivery …. Why do we never score from corners any more !!!!!

I could go on ….

Charlie I have said it before and I will say it again when we played GMS wide left and allowed him to go to the byline to cross on his stronger foot we stretched teams with that width and allowed Griff space to operate and opened up cracks in the defence for long shots. If you look back over our poorest results this season against Scottish opposition you will notice that we played with 2 inverted wingers almost every time. I think the 4-2-3-1 is a good tactic I just don’t think throwing away width is worth what 2 inverted wingers brings which is the ability to quickly turn attack into a high pressing defence. Well not in Scotland anyway where we are playing against parked busses that lump the ball out wide for a counter. Now it might have it’s positives in Europe against top attacking teams, but first we need to beat the mediocre ones, and the pretty good ones and I don’t see how us compacting defenses is going to do that.

Uralius
Reply to  Charlie Saiz

Aye you are right Charlie I have run out of patience. Win 3 games on the trot with 1 inverted and 1 traditional winger. Then boom let’s play a wide target man with an inverted winger FFS. Complete Nonsense! I like the signings he has made, but an Asymmetric front line should be plan A. Furthermore with all this talk of improving players we still need to see more technical improvements.

Charlie Saiz

The overall performance has been poor over the Season however if we do manage to still complete another Double even though this has been the case then I think that is a feather in the Management teams cap.
All too often we have witnessed poorly performing Celtic sides fail to deliver anything, alternatively we have witnessed great Celtic teams win nothing..2002-03 the prime example.
The players may have been top quality ,the football at times scintillating but ultimately it was rewarded with nothing.
Deila has come in to a side on the slide we were going backwards that’s why Johan and Lenny left they knew it and wanted nothing to do with it.
So as a result Deila has bought in a System of playing that he deems will reap better results in the long run as we watch teh financial chasm widen in Europe.
That transition was always going to take time 2-3 years (possibly even longer with our Transfer Policy).
Injuries have blighted this Season from the off our defence has been a shambles for the bulk of the season but particularly during the opening 5 months where he that is Deila could not select a settled back 4 for any extended period of time.
Key men and by Key I mean Brown Lustig Mulgrew Johansen and Armstrong have failed to produce any where near the levels shown previously this has caused further issues.
So when you take all of that into account and consider we are still on course to replicate the Double secured last Season I think that points to his approach warranting some praise.
If however he fails to deliver a double then of course he may well be gone.
I have no issue with that as I believe a double should be the target for a Celtic side any Season.
If Deila delivers it he is entitled to another crack in Europe.
If we go down the road of sacking Managers who are delivering doubles we are going down a very dangerous road indeed.

andybhoy

Reply to  Charlie Saiz

He is not entitled to what will amount to another embarrassment in Europe. He is never going to be able to produce a team that will give their all when the chips are down and that doesn’t just include Europe. We have seen it on numerous occasions and we can not be subjected to another season, when he will cost the club £millions in revenue.

Charlie Saiz
Reply to  andybhoy

Europe is never guaranteed even moreso now when we have to qualify through 3 rounds and start these games before our Domestic Season has even started.
If our Board were not so fixated with the concept of Zero Debt (even though it does not actually exist-see Co-op Loans)and actually spent some money on quality rather than continually blowing millions on shite and potential (that might never actually come good)then perhaps that Revenue Stream (Which again is not guaranteed)would make no difference to the finances of the Club.
Europe should be a Financial Bonus not a Financial must at Celtic.
That’s not Deilas fault that issue has been at Celtic for over a Decade.

What proof do you have that he can do any better than the woeful attempts we have witnessed so far? He has presided over a fractured squad, mainly caused by his own ineptitude and he has managed to turn a high % of the support into a trance like state with a team that does not perform to the level it is capable of.

Charlie Saiz

Reply to  Charlie Saiz

The loss of Denaayer and Van Dijk, the injuies to Mulgrew Jozo Lustig Brown ,the loss of form of Gordon Lustig Brown Johansen Armstrong ,Mackay-Steven,the earlier qualification games, the lack of investment in genuine quality and the lack of patience from some within the support…these factors obviously had fuck all to do with the overall team performance.
No it’s all Deilas fault.
He must go a double will not suffice.
Let’s not forget a resurgent Aberdeen of course who for 2 seasons now have competed as well as they have for the last 10.
I came from the starting point 2 year ago we were in decline.
We were in fact barring 1 or 2 seasons since O’Neil left this has been the case.
Slowly but surely we have gone backwards every Season.
Now here we are a mediocre Europa League outfit at best.
That’s when at our best not what we have witnessed this season which has been far from even this teams best.
See above for the numerous factors as to why that is.
Our Level under Deila was the Qarabag Inter games.
That’s as good as it’s going to get with the Boards approach.
No matter who’s in charge.

some months ago Ralph made a point about players reading comments on prolific blogs such as this and the overall affect it could have on individual performances and collective performances. Without sounding an arse licking sycophant I think he makes good sense here. And we have to remember that players are human and are lumped with unrealistic expectations their abilities can’t match. We are not one of the top ten teams in the world anymore and the legacy our forefathers have left was achieved when clubs from other countries and our own we’re on a par and only an excellent genius of a man .. Jock. Stein had immense foresight and given the time to implement his brilliance like Brian clough did with derby and forest Those days are gone and will never return until the club is allowed to play in the epl. We should just enjoy what we’ve got. My only complaint is that a home grown coach with local knowledge could have achieved. What Ronny has to date

Our opinions reflect the last game(s) and levels of performance some wisely see us as a work in progress conversely others see us as a decaying entity overseen by a piss taking executive committee who have appointed bargain basement management.

BG I am thinking that we will take care of the basket of assets with room to spare, even if we play badly. I’m very confident we will win that game on an equal playing field because we have a better quality of player and to be candid a better manager. I’m unconcerned about that game and more concerned about seeing some consistency in the run in to the league title that can be continued to the CL qualifiers. I think there is legitimate concern about what we are producing on the field and that is down to players and manager to sort out. Since they are all staying till at least the end of the season, lets focus on winning what is in front of us. There will be endless opportunities to pontificate on who can go and who can come later. The most important game for me is the game in hand. Win it go seven clear and see if Aberdeen can respond. By the way their manager seems to get no criticism for multiple mess ups and defeats when it counts. Wonder why?

broxburn- some of our fans are talking as if this treatment of our club is something new?? like all of a sudden the msm dont like celtic or its manager??

im not buying for one second this press campaign to oust the manager or unsettle the club because its always been the same… we managed to win every tournament we entered with the scottish referees etc so we should just be better than that

the fact is we need to be better than our opponents and the refs… we lose the first goal to sevco and its game over

and if we lose that game i can see the manager being sent to norway at full time for his own safety

I think the level of attack and vitriol against Celtic has gone up since the liquidation of Rangers. The referees seem unabashedly poor and pathetic when we are seeing multiple honest mistakes in very game. That said, we are clearly playing very poorly and we do expect better and we expect it now after two years or so of the Delia experiment. I think he might well be a great coach under the leadership of an inspiring manager. I agree the reign has been underwhelming. we can deal with it at the end of the season.

squads too big with players all of the same ability Funny I know the a league is over here isn’t the best in the world but the team winning it at the moment play 4231. Only difference is is that they play it properly with half the amount of players. At their disposal Tells me that their players are given time to adapt to a format previously foreign to them and they know there’s a good chance most of the same players will be playing in the next game Nothing like getting on the field to build confidence on a weekly basis

The team’s a shambles guys. The football is piss poor to watch a we were a minute from being embarrassed by Kilmarnock. Yes, we’ll probably limp over the line as champions and as long as Efe isn’t playing we will probably beat Sevco in the semi (ref permitting) Bu there would still be a final to negotiate before any double could be secured. I cant believe with the players we have it has come to this. Ronnie doesn’t have what it takes to implement the system he wants. The players look confused or disinterested or both. The end result is a continuous line of crap performances and the endless frustration expressed here. Double or no double, Ronnie (and his team) needs to go

Ronny= roller coaster. At first, I supported him without question, but then I feared he was another Mowbray. He wasn’t/isn’t. Then I bought into ‘the vision’. In Europe we drew with Ajax and Fenerbahce AWAY, not something many of our previous managers could do and we looked decent against Inter. However, my doubts about Ronny re-surfaced when I saw how lacklustre our team has become, losing to Ross County, Motherwell, etc. Our play has often been poor. However, here’s where I am now. Ronny must win the league. If he does, then he should be allowed one more shot at Europe. If he gets into the CL, we can all calm down. If he fails, then it would be time for him to go. If Ronny goes, we don’t need a big overhaul or radical change. We have good players at every position. We also have some dead wood but our club does not need major surgery. Who should replace Ronny is none of my choice. I’ll leave that to the ‘scholars’ on this website. My opinion? Not Lenny. MON won’t come. Not Keane. Not Moyes or Brendan Rodgers. Strachan would work. Possibly, Michael O’Neill. But right now, let’s put aside all our differences and get this team over the line. Gordon, Fisher, Janko, Sviatchenko, Simunovic, Tierney, Allan, Christie, Armstrong, Rogic,Roberts, Mackay-Steven, Liam Henderson, Nesbitt,Griffiths are the core of a good team under any manager. Let’s stay calm. I would dearly love to secure a double but the Sevco is a one off and doesn’t make our season. Winning the league is what we want. Agree with Charlie Saiz that January 2017 will tell all and will seal Ronny’s fate. Ideally, Ronny will do well in Europe and will earn another year or two to show what he can really do. Five years would be the best scenario.

Ajax played much below their potential in the EL. Just last weekend they beat PSV 0-2. After 2 years we’re still waiting for a couple of top Celtic performances in a row….
Ajax arn’t only top developpers of talent but they have invested heavily in scouting and signing top players between 16-18 yo. Bazoer, Younes,… all future stars bought for money we don’t spend anymore. Because of the money they spend they structurally need CL money every 2 years whereas we see it as a bonus.

Petition signed and a big ‘well done’ to those who have taken R12 further.

As for the manager, the Ferguson comparisons are ridiculous. Fergie took Man Utd from 21st to 2nd in two seasons and in his ‘poor’ third season he had to deal with a club take over which lasted three months from being agreed to being withdrawn, lengthy injuries to Robson, Sharpe, Webb and Anderson as well as Leighton and Milne being in the worst form of their lives. Its hardly comparable with Scott Brown missing a dozen games.

I don’t think I can take another season under Deila, we’re crawling towards a league we should have romped, we’ve went from being one result away from pot 3 in the CL to where failure to qualify next season will see us with a lower coefficient than when Barnes was manager, despite the seedings and ‘champions route’ meaning we’ve never had it so easy. His average spend per season is higher and his European record is worse than any previous manager.

I was confident about winning the league this year, but I can’t say I am about next season under Deila. We can expect a return to the old ways of shocking ref decisions almost every game and a proper media campaign against us, while Deila fritters away our cash on more midfielders for the bench/reserves and a striker that will end up on loan elsewhere.

Mark McGhee would be an improvement but, as i’ve said many times, I would prefer John Hughes as a realistic appointment.

Not a caption entry but the pic reminded me of the top quality Green Brigade banner that showed the huns devolving, then in the ground and then as zombies.

These guys have agents in their naive years ( talking about Forrest and the like). When they could be paid ten times. The money to be playing in a modest league We are a decaying dinosaur. Shivering with anticipation awaiting. A game against another dinosaur who regularly play the likes of Alloa and Dumbarton. Our potential is enormous it may sound. Exuberantly fanciful but I believe this club has the potential to. Be amongst it all. You know why. Because we are massive I may sound like a nutcase here but it’s doable. nearly every single human being on the planet knows who Celtic are. Even the wee. bgbhoy you asked what difference it would make if Ronny got shot of Collins and Kennedy ? implying that it wouldnt change a thing because Ronny is the boss…….well i think it could make a huge difference, every good manager has good people behind them, people who can help and have a strong influence on the team…….think of Lennon, how much of an influence do you think big Johan Mjallby had on the team ?especially our defending.
Collins and Kennedy dont bring anything to the table, they dont influence anything and are a waste of space and i think have let Ronny down badly , so if Ronny had better people behind him it could be the catalyst for a successful season in Europe.

The question i would ask,is, has the Board changed its mind and why? If it asked G. Strachan to take over a few weeks ago, as Ralph says, why has it changed its mind?
It is my opinion that the current management team will not take Celtic in to next years qualifiers and i assume that the glamour pre season friendly will produce enough cash to make up for any C.L.cash shortfall.
Its my opinion that this is another cop out by the Board to gamble on title no 6,if and it is still a big if we can win title no 5.
But then again this is purely conjecture who knows what happens at season ends.

Ralph is it possible to not mention Ronnie at all in the diary every time you produce another article saying this that or the next thing might be a season definer/changer/corner turner I want to cry. The man is not capable of managing a ménage, I have tried to be civil but the latest embarrassment that wss the Ronnie roar on Saturday wss the final straw, this was not 10 men winning the league,it was not the best team on the planet put to the sword at Parkhead it was a piss poor performance against Kilmarnock, not even Killie and the Mib just Killie and we scraped by by the skin of our teeth
You seem to accept it is ok to sack the the coaches the scouting staff and the PR department but somehow Ronnie should stay to get another chance because btw if he goes we might get Mark MgGhee !!!!!! Really are you serious? the club cannot afford another European disaster plain and simple.
For Charlie S to point out that, well this poor team is winning and the Seville team didn’t is beyond baffling I could rant nabout that statement for hours but I don’t have the time now and my Blood pressure probably wouldn’t take it any way so I am going to assume it was a purely judged joke

I am sure that most would agree that the Celtic Squad is heavily bloated.By my calculations 9 Celtic players are out on loan. Our first team squad consists of 30 players (plus 2 on loan) could we assume that aprox.9 players could be sold at seasons end, that could raise sum £10 million pounds, or poss.
£9.80 joke.convert that into player purchases,to fill the following positions,R.Back,Two Midfielders, Two attackers.
That should be possible from player sales and our budget.
It will be interesting to see who is entrusted with that cash
to enhance the Celtic Squad.

Charlie siaz – sorry just finished my work but replying to your look at the league table comment. I dont think this can be solely what matters, sure were top of the league but since them acrossthe city dissapeared thats a give in. I would bet we could apoint any spl manager and every one of them could be top by now, its about progress , excitement, entrtainment and ronnys side does none of this. The empty seats tell there own story, the biggest reason for not going and i include myself in this is the team is not entertaining, more than that it is disjointed and struggling every week. Desmond is a business man and he will not let this continue, i think he has till the end of the season and if there is not a dramatic change in performances regardless of the double they will bring someone else in to get the fans excited again, im thinking like martin oneil when he came saying i will get this club back where it belongs or lennon bringing the thunder back. This is what we need, the thunder back and for me there has to be a change , not sitting around hoping it will turn with delia

Results are actually what matter if Football.
If Deila fails to beat der hun he will be gone no question of that.
If however he goes on to win the League with points to spare and puts another Cup in the Cabinet I think he will be safe.
Dermot has little interest in Celtic because if he did we would not be signing the mediocrity we have been doing and allowing the Likes of Lawwell to continually serve up Mutton as Lamb.
Which they have.
Dermot is awaiting the Old Firm Circus has been for 4 year then he may or may not demand a wee bit of spending to whip up some interest.
Time will tell of course.

“Ajax aren’t only top developers of talent but they have invested heavily in scouting-” yes , that’s the main point BelgoBhoy.
Ajax and Barca were used as examples , when Deila’s self-developing plan was announced .
Problem was , there was no talk , or sign , of the initial SIGNIFICANT investment that would have been needed for this plan to have serious intent.
Buying in ,or promoting the odd Scottish boy from our youth team , isn’t implementing the “Ajax- Barca ” type development strategy.
It’s just playing at it.
To be serious would have meant a large initial “setting – up ” investment , plus the 5 year timescale Charlie Saiz talks of.(Irrelevant of who the manager was)
The reason I see no mileage in that “5 yr plan” is because there was never the initial investment, therefore never the real intent by the club to implement this .
For my money , this would have been the smart long term move ,but it seems the men at the top were never really serious about it,and that next season on- it’ll be back to business as usual; and the “arms -race”, albeit on a smaller scale than other era’s.

what worries me about Ronny is that he keeps coming out and saying we were poor today or the tempo was not high enough….which normally you would applaud his honesty but the trouble is he is saying it more and more and there is no real sign of things getting better……..why are we playing poor ?, why is the tempo too slow ? theses are the questions i want answered…….he has until the end of the season to work it all out…..but things are not looking good for him at the moment so really if things dont improve drastically between now and the end of May, his days as Celtic manager will be numbered

magic. I’m sure the edl will raise their ugly mugs that day.
Inter Milan let’s play them in Lisbon.
Hopefully a new manager in place with his own background staff. Players who have went through the motions this season punted and new faces brought in.
Celtic have to change manager their is no option.
He tried hard, worked hard, but at the end of the day doesn’t have the quality to be a Celtic manager.
He isn’t the first likeable guy to be sacked and he won’t be the last. But I don’t think he will be sacked,I think he will go after the final match of the season. I think he will do the honourable thing and resign. So the choice will be his and everyone wins.

Ewanbhoy is right, the Board are hedging there bets, its the big bucks backup to the failure to qualify for the C.L. Add to that the income from the Europa League and they have covered all angles.Smart move.

It’s good to hear what other bhoys and ghirls think about our team. I value this forum a lot and everybody who sails on it! Sometimes, I feel like I’m drowning in my own bullshit! After winning the League and qualifying for the CL, before that I would take great savage delight in gubbing Sevco. Ronny could also roar after that if he wants. Life is always great when Zombies/Huns/Orcs are overcome. On paper, we are the better team. Miller, Wallace, Holt are doing all the talking. We have several players who can apply their experience of the auld Huns towards Mark 2: Mulgrew, Brown, Commons, Gordon,Forrest, Griffiths and more. Ronny also needs to remind the refs that they must be strong by not cheating us of any more cups. The MIBs will be on show and it won’t be a pretty sight. By their own thinking, they can’t screw us any further without ‘neutrals’ getting suspicious so Thomson and others will have to be very careful.

Doc,
Excellent post but that John Hughes bit at the end…it would be worse, much worse and I think Mc Ghee would be the same. Don’t let the Board hear you say this unless…the Board have infiltrated this forum !

What would Hughes need to do at Inverness to get your blessing?

I am reading between the lines here but if we accept this offer to play these glamour games in America in the middle of the CL qualifiers…..doesn’t this tell us that our board are covering their bets…….giving Ronny 1 last chance at Europe but at the same time cashing in on the glamour friendlies in America which will probably cost us by not qualifying…..sounds daft to me…….so our board will give Ronny 1 more shot knowing that he will fail so we will play nothing games in America to help cover the cost of failing in Europe again

I totally hope that you are right Bb,but last year they went with his stay at home wishes and still did not qualify,it totally suggests to me that they are hedging there bets and are sticking with him, only time will tell.

I sincerely hope you are right Bb,but i think they are just hedging there bets,he wont resign, so the Board will make the decision at seasons end, when his rolling contract comes to an end,i am beginning to fear the worst.
