Resolution 12: Time for Action

Stewart Regan’s admission that he would do nothing if confronted with evidence that shows old Rangers should not have been given a champions League place back in 2011 is surely the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

The ugly face of Scottish football administration showed itself fleetingly to John Clark, of the Scottish Football monitor, and thanks to him , we’ve all seen it.

I spent most of yesterday still astonished that Regan sneered at those “who don’t use their own name ” when he has spent so much of his time trying to protect and promote a club which doesn’t use it’s own name, instead adopting that of one in liquidation , which has led to thousands of supporters spending their money whilst supporting a club which isn’t the one they are being led to believe it is.

Supporters he is supposed to protect.

If nothing is done, as Regan suggests, then those involved in what is nothing more than a massive scam, will escape censure and continue to hold positions of power and influence within the game. The game, as they say, is a bogey.

Supporters will drift away, sponsors will refuse to be associated with the game, and it will die.

After all, it’s just a game. A game with an above average emotional involvement, but a game nonetheless, and if the game is rigged, or appears to be rigged, no-one will want to play it, watch it or buy it.

This cannot be allowed to happen.

The real power and influence, should it be wielded , doesn’t lie in the corridors of Hampden. It lies in the stands of the football grounds around the country.

And it’s time to stop talking about doing something, and to start actually doing it.

The press have steadfastly refused to cover the story.

Celtic , disappointingly, have showed little desire to get involved, refusing even to admit the SFA have “dealt ” with the matter, whether it’s to their satisfaction or not.

It appears that both the club and the SFA are hoping it all dies down, showing an arrogance that suggests they feel we will all have a moan for a bit , and then lose interest the next time a big story comes along.

They’ve got that wrong.

Celtic are at Kilmarnock tomorrow, and it’s as good a time as any to begin the public protests that might at least draw comment from the television companies covering the game.

There have been many suggestions in social media as to what that action should be, though the simplest ones are the best.

On the twelfth minute a vocal show of displeasure, such as boos and whistles, allied with a showing of either a red card or banners would get the ball rolling.

A mass walkout with twelve minutes to go in the remaining games could also work.

Whatever is decided, though, it needs to be implemented and implemented soon.

The longer this goes on, the more chance they have of getting away with it.

It’s time for action.

Bondi brian how do you think aaron mooy would go at celtic?

Boycott the semi-final. An empty Celtic end would clearly demonstrate to the world that something is wrong and get those who are not aware of what it is to ask questions. By attending we recognise they are the same club. It is back to the jolly Old Firm. We have to ask ourselves, is this what we want? I have a sneaky feeling that most Celtic supporters want to get back to the Old Foirm bigot-fest as that is what they enjoy. The Newco supporters are desperate for it as it gives them credibility. Don’t allow this. Don’t go! Nothing hurts them like financial pain and bad publicity. Let them explain why no Celtic supporters gave credence to their rigged cup. Go and you are an Old Firm fan. It is back to square one. Only you need to shut up about the corruption as you fully support it.

John,
I hear what you are saying about not going to the game, however our team needs us against these cunts, however if all this corruption is allowed to be airbrushed away, I can honestly say I can’t see me going back to the games in the future.

We don’t currently have an honest game, that’s the fucking sad reality of it!

John i am one of the fans who wants to get back to whatever we want to call the club from ibrox v celtic.1/ because i miss the intensity of the fixture( not the sectarian bigoted side of it) 2/ i miss the challenge of the other club from ibrox which keeps us on our toes and should in essence make us perform better.and 3/ we do need them to help get better sponsorship deals from the likes of skysports. I agree with lancelt67 we know corruption is rife but what are we really going to achieve by boycotting the semi final scottish football fans are fed up hearing about it and sadly many celtic fans seem to be obsessed with bringing more misery to an already adequently punished ibrox fan base, because lets face it as much as some wouldnt like to admit it they are not all nuckle draggers and i do have a bit of sympathy for your normal working class fan who pay their money every other week and who have been shafted by the men in suits over the past few years. So enough’s enough we’ve all had our laugh at our workmate and bar room bears but lets get back to business.YNWA

John, you’re spot on, 100%. Regan needs to be shown at the 1st opportunity. 17th April. Lawwell too. Total boycott and email the twats and tell them they’re the cause. If Res.12 isn’t completely successful they wont get another penny from me.
Don’t know who 1st said it, but it’s too true, “we weren’t paranoid enough” and I might add we weren’t looking close enough to home.

In my opinion there are two courses of action that will guarantee to see Chairmen take action, the first action should be fans of all clubs throughout the country, who want an honest game, is to inform their clubs that they will not be purchasing a single season or matchday ticket until res 12 is addressed.
The other is to not purchase a single item from your club, in terms of merchandise or hospitality, do not attend games.

Cash is king, it is what motivates your club.

Scottish football is broken, there will be no moving on! HH

There will be ‘NO’ moving on, although the ‘unnamed’ statement from the CFC board will ask everyone to. This board has sold their soul to the devil, lets hope we can ‘save’ the ‘club’ from them. Only my opinion, HH

Iancelt,
It’s not about chastising them, it’s about an honest game and knowing that when you hear the turnstiles click as you go into your ground, it’s an honest battle between twenty two players, not a farce that is predetermined.

If you don’t take action now, don’t fucking moan when Celtic are being unfairly treated in the future.
Where is the fire in your belly for the fight?

If you don’t want to fight for yourself, then fight for the kind of game in the future you want your kids to see.

Iancelt,
When Jim Farry (spit) deliberately withheld Jorge Cadete’s registration papers, denying this fantastic player and goalscorer the opportunity to play in vital fixtures, including a semi-final against Rangers (IL), seriously damaging Celtic’s hopes and indeed, chances of success, should Fergus have just shrugged his shoulders and ‘ moved on ‘ or fight the cunts and show them up for the cheating bastards they always have been?

Q.C. Paul McBride you are sorely missed my friend.

From boardroom, to the dugout and the dressing room and in the stands, we should always be as one at Celtic, and we must always fight! HH

Monti. I agree with most of your comments and if the shoe was on the other foot. Then they would be as merciless as we are. But would you as a fan take umbrage to a lynch mob you’ve supported all your love fe telling you that you’re a non entity?

I hate the cunts just as much as you and not only do I love stem to rebel songs I also play them as a musician. I feel strongly against the subjugation of Ireland etc. but I think the outlet and the avenue for protest here would be diminished severely in an anti climax if they were gone. The old games were brutal and terrific and to me are sorely missed. There presence provided great Celtic teams and their absence has created a level of mediocrity that’s completely unpalatable. Aberdeen are never going to get to a level that will provide stern opposition for us to get back to the champions league.

We thought the game was biased in the past, now we have the proof,we need a Fergus Mccann type to stand up for the club against the SFA and others, but we also need to do something about it our selves.Dont go to the semis at Hampdump, thats an easy way to show our resolve without hurting the club.
Alternatively show the cameras our side, with a visual card protest,Red card for Reagan was a good suggestion.
I would help with that if it were organised and then advertised to the broader support.

Nice one Ralph! I’m still not sure what’s the best way to go about it – but the fact that the upcoming semi against The Tribute Act will get so much coverage both in outside the UK & abroad, provides the perfect opportunity to force the media to take notice – even if the SMSM play deliberately dumb or refuse to comment.

As I said elsewhere, the only problem with the 12th minute idea is that it could coincide with a goal, or the time when the SFA have agreed/arranged with the ref to give Celtic their 1st red card (<joke-ish)

Either way. What's clear is that we need to do something – it needs to have widespread support – and also be so noticeable it can't be ignored.

Beware of people who tell you to ‘move on’. That’s usually doublespeak for ‘let us get on with our dishonesty’. ‘Boycott’ was invented by the Irish but any future boycott needs to make sure we support our team on the pitch whilst letting the suits know they can’t continue with their shenanigans. Ideas?
Twelfth minute: bare our arses to the cameras!
Everyone leave the seats but not the stadium, then come back at another appointed minute. Stand with our backs to the action.
Unfurl banners (this is more difficult)
Sing a ‘special’ song on the 12th minute.
BUT no method of protest should harm our team on the pitch, especially when playing The Zombies.
It’s a tough balancing act.
Celtic fans come from people who had to fight for their language, their country, their religion and ultimately, their lives so we know how to fight. We just have to pick the right method. Speaking of fighting, yesterday I’m sure we all remembered: Thomas J. Clarke, Sean MacDiarmada, P.H. Pearse, James Connolly, Thomas MacDonagh, Eamonn Ceannt, Joseph Plunkett. I think they knew what was coming but fought for it anyway. Funny, their deaths ultimately crippled the Empire.Maybe they saw that coming as well. For you bhoys going to Kilmarnock tomorrow, please sing your heids off. Help the bhoys on the pitch. Hail, hail.
C’mon the Celtic.

Great post Devoy. For all the lads and lassies going to Kilmarnock tomorrow I agree sing your heads off for 90 minutes. Get your protests in get noticed ( while avoiding arrest ). Any Green Brigade lads or lassies Resolution 12 is an opening for us to draw attention to corruption in the Scottish – Songs and banners please ( avoid getting arrested ). To those well of Celtic men and women another full page advertisement in the newspapers is in order. That caused a stir last time. We can all write to Mr. Lawell en masse and the SFA on mass and bombard them with e-mails on this topic. We can do this while being in the ground and supporting our team to the hilt in every game they play.

Yogi61

Problem with Resolution 12 issue Ralph is that far too many fans are either apathetic towards,or ignorant of,the facts pertaining to this issue.
For example, two Etims posts yesterday.’Are we underestimating Ronnie?’..121 replies. ‘Resolution 12’…28 replies.
Too many fans looking forward to the resumption of tribal hostilities with Sevco as a replacement for the former Rfc.
Lots of great work being done behind the scenes by organised and intelligent people but we need the fans to mobilise and give the Celtic board a rude awakening.
Don’t be in any doubt, this will impact upon the Scottish game as fans, sickened by years of corruption, desert the sport in droves.
All we want is a fair and level playing field and an end to sycophantic and biased administrators aidi

The “basket of assets” will claim that this is the Old Firm and the myth will live on. This is Celtic V A new entity only a few years old and emulating the previous entity in belief, bigotry and bile. The Old Firm died Ian time to move on. Secondly, This basket of assets may well have been constituted illegally (claimed) as HM’s prosecutors are testing in court at the moment. It is certainly the case that this entity was put into the league ahead of other law abiding clubs who were patiently waiting their turn. I echo the feelings of others on here to move on from this and try to get back into the Champions League for great nights of better atmosphere playing the best in Europe and letting this new club go to the wall leaving only a bad memory and something to tell our children and grand children about.

This fixture is what makes scottish football interesting. If the agenda on here is to be consumed by hatred of them then youre a sad fucking bunch. The rest of the planet are looking forward to celtic v rangers games and dont give a shit about the past. Ralph,

Like others I am trying to understand the club’s stance in the Res 12 debate.

Most of the Celtic blogs have input from supporters on this which right and proper. I wish to add my thanks and admiration to the key figures who have pursued this for some time. Until the latest flurry of information over the last week I had many wrong impressions of the issues. After reading another blog last night, I could not avoid a feeling of deep sadness over what these individuals had experienced through their endeavour. A key puzzle is why will the club not take the lead in this. It seems that it is this issue that will swing fans future behaviour in supporting the club in the immediate and long term.

One thing that I have learned is that the initial granting of a licence in 2011 is not in dispute. However, the petitioners believe that the licence should have been revoked in June of that year when it became known that the old club had an outstanding tax issue. Res 12 petitioners have compiled evidence that suggests that the SFA should have revoked the licence. In this post, I am suggesting that it is this evidence that may have defined the club’s stance on Res 12.

Here are a couple of speculations that may or may not hold water to explain the inaction of the club.

Firstly, the club may a) not be convinced about the validity of the evidence available, and/or b) the club may believe the evidence but it is somehow connected, in the eyes of the club, to an on-going case, or future case in the courts. If either of the latter describes how the club sees this, then I can understand why they will not take the lead in this.

Secondly, is it possible that the club has been made aware of a โ€œsimilarโ€ situation in its past where the rules on some matter were applied lightly, or even incorrectly to Celtic? If the club pursues the Res 12 issues then the other issue could emerge. Then we have a real crisis in Scottish football that could destroy it.

Perhaps, the Res 12 guys have some information that can eliminate one or more of these potential explanations for the clubs position? I merely speculate and have no reason to believe any of the above is correct. I merely find it difficult to understand why the club would provide assistance and then not run with the ball.

In essence, I am saying do not rush to judgement on the club, until you know all of the facts.

You make some excellent points. However it is difficult to fathom the inaction of the Celtic board on the Resolution 12 issue.
You mention the possibility that the board are keeping their powder dry until the outcome of certain court cases are known. The fact remains though, that Celtic have been aware of this situation for the last four years, before any of the current indictments were ongoing and have refused to take any steps to remedy the issue.
I believe that the board, craven invertebrates that they are, just do not have the will or indeed the cojones, to rock the Establishment status quo and confront not only the SFA but the Scottish media and the Ibrox hierarchy.
Whilst you could have a valid point that perhaps rules in the past may have been applied lightly to Celtic, although I have my reservationson, they surely did not have the financial import of the granting of a European competition licence to a socially indebted club.
Unfortunately the inaction, I believe, is really down to a Quisling and self serving board.

“The real power and influence, should it be wielded , doesnโ€™t lie in the corridors of Hampden. It lies in the stands of the football grounds around the country.”

This is exactly the point; it is only a game. We know it is rigged for ONE club and ONE club only and the power lies with the fans of ALL clubs. Stop going en masse to the games and then we will see what happens. This is dramatic and also effective. It would not take long for change to come about when the money and atmosphere stops. Fans do NOT have the balls. They are all talk and no action. Bring the whole edifice to its knees. Once they see sense, it can be re-built.

Rebus67

Yogi,

It is all about opinions at this stage. I do not want to accept your pessimistic viewof the Board. Rioja has had its effect at this point, but there is a lot more info to emerge on this issue. Until I know more I shall not judge the club and I urge others to do the same. Your view may or may not be true, but it does not serve the club at this point to arrive at a premature conclusion. Let the moving hand having written move on to its true conclusion.

I am old school and cannot bring myself to apportion time into delving into the corrupt mechanisms that the suits are implementing which affects fans paying good money to get to games and others whose hearts are with Celtic fc. I listen to the willy Marley song almost to the point of a bizarre fixatation and sadly there is only a distant memory of good times that brings joy to me. A catharsis if you like

I live in Australia and to me all that’s apparent is that Scottish football by and large is hard to palate. The passion is hard to summon. And if there is any blame to apportion its with the board. And their blatant downsizing and continual duping of the fans
I may be a wank to hector or Kiki and ZaZa ( for those who remember hectors house). And my opinions may have in the past been a bit wayward I’ve never pretended to be a Rhodes scholar so past comments may have lacked the cogent and articulate efforts of others. Rangers haven’t set a precedent In corruption in world football it’s a world wide scourge. And my take on it is they have lost the latitude for any repeat offences

Yeah they cheated and there are fans who will never let that go but. On a personal level and for my own sanity I can’t let bitterness get the better of me. I think we are imploding as a club at a rapid rate on and off the field Still optimistically think it can be turned around with wise investment and if need be to placate the angry mob who want them gone a passive refusal to accept that it’s not Glasgow Rangers fc Otherwise we’re talking murder in the streets and an added uglier form of bigotry. That’s already out of. Control
