Celtic Diary Friday October 15: Careless Whispers ?

After a week of ignoring football, largely because there hasn’t been any, and hoping that no one else gets injured as we approach the pivotal point of this season, there have been a few stories-or non stories, that have caught the attention.

The first , and one that seems to have split the Celtic support down the middle, is the ranch originating claim that Red Bull, the manufacturers of a fizzy cough medicine flavoured energy drink , are looking to add Celtic to their portfolio of football clubs.

It could be worse. Look at who has taken over Newcastle United. Amazingly, everyone seems happy with the guy who was behind the murder of a dissdent journalist running a football club, though that’s not entirely surprising when you consider he was behind the murder of a dissdent journalist.

Celtic , when viewed in a purely business sense, are ripe for takeover. During a global downturn caused by a pandemic, they’ve kept house financially extraordinarily well, down to a loyal and faithful customer base who paid in advance for a product they never got to have.

That sort of thing turns heads in the corporate world.

There is considerable room for growth with investment, and the brand is known worldwide.

According to the introduction at the beginning of the documentary “Three Kings “, a film about the careers of three influential football managers, Jock Stein. Bill Shankly and Matt Busby, around two billion people claim either Celtic , Manchester United or Liverpool as their favourite team.

Two of those already have huge investment and returns,

The other one is obviously a target for similar investors.

Celtic have stalled under Desmond, adopting a conservative outlook which encouraged the return of the Old Firm brand , and although supporters refuse to recognise the same club myth, their interest in the new Glasgow Derby has allowed the media to perpetuate the myth of the brand.

A wider outlook in a global market isn’t something this board are interested in, this seems to have died at the same time Desmond’s dream of joining the EPL bit the dust, yet no one on Celtic’s board seems ready to face the reality that England doesn’t want or need the Old Firm brand simply because of it’s toxicity.

Scottish football, therefore, remains at the mercy of the Old Firm, having failed to clean it up and move forward  when the brand expired back in 2012.

Ominously, bookmakers will soon be removed from shirt sponsorship, following their comrades in arms in the alcohol and tobacco industries, and frankly that leaves very few firms willing to associate themselves with a set up that includes one club/comapny that appeals to it’s customer base with a video such as this one…..

The subliminal message here is anti immigration, the purity of the nation and all the usual bollocks that comes with the brand that our current board feels it depends on for income.

Supporters aren’t helping with their attitude of ignoring what went on back then, and until Celtic and other clubs remind the world that it isn’t Rangers, they’re not 150 years old and they haven’t won 55 titles, those in charge now will carry on as they have for the last decade, and one could reasonably argue they are simply going along with the demands of their customer base.

So, get involved with the Celtic Trust, they’re not perfect but at the moment they’re our best shot at getting our voices heard.

Outside investment, either a full takeover or a massive sponsorship, such as stadium naming, shirts and other gimmicks , is almost certainly on the cards to some degree. Desmond and the board have claimed recently that there will be changes, without going into much detail, and we still don;t know exactly what went on with Dominic McKay.

One theory is that he would have upset the status quo and with investors eyes on Celtic Park that wouldn’t do, as exposing previous shennanigans may well have put off external investors.

By the way, there was no mention that Red Bull are interested in whichever entity will be operating out of Ibrox when the time comes, and given their current stricken plight over there, it looks like no one else is either.

For Celtic fans, the investment is attractive in that both Liepzig and Salzburg, recent opponents at Celtic Park, have both improved vastly as football teams, and it;s the product on the park we want, although they have sacrificed a part of themselves with the name change, and I’m fairly certain that won’t wash with the world of Timdom.

But it’s worth noting that Dermot Desmond won’t be around forever, and sooner or later someone somewhere will have their own vision and money to open a new chapter in our history.

Whilst others may claim to be big clubs, they are big only because of the money they generate in their own environment, and Celtic can be classed , quite rightly, as a sleeping giant.

In the corporate world, that hasn’t gone unnoticed, and sooner or later someone will make their move.

It might not be Red Bull, but it will be someone.

Which reminds me of a story concerning a previous owner, Fergus McCann, who was a bit over the top with managers, and exercised quite a degree of control.

He once gave instructions to sign a well known English international to sognal his intent to fans and media alike, and as he had to return to the US to tidy a few things up, he left the details to others.

When he got back, he asked about the player . He was shocked when he was told the man in question merely did a little tap dance, blew a few notes on his saxophone and collapsed dead after a bout of coughing.

McCann exploded.. “I said fucking Rocastle, Rocastle you fucking idiot. ”

Until the sexual abuse issue within Celtic Boys Club and the possible class action against Celtic Football Club has been dealt with, in my opinion, it would be folly to think that any international brand may want to take over the Club at this time.

It’s called due diligence and it’s what Adidas did 18 months ago when they chipped in 30 million when it was obvious a class action was on the cards.

I think you’ll find that the abuse case doesn’t define, encompass or determine any external investment into the club, you should maybe stop reading the red tops.
Celtic is a world renowned & respected club throughout Europe & the wider footballing world.
The boys club case is going to court, whatever is decided we will deal with & hopefully the victims will be treated with total respect & care, not to mention being compensated for the abuse they endured.
I hope the victims are able to find peace & some sort of justice at the end of it all.
Of course other clubs, even a 9 year old club will be watching through the cracks in their roof at the outcome, mindful that abuse also was perpetrated at their original version.

Celtic will face what they have to face, answer to what they have to answer to, and when it’s dealt with, it will be with the victims put first because they should be cared for & treated with utter respect.
Whether the law will decide the boys club was a part of Celtic or a separate entity we will have to wait and see…..remember though to mute your celebrations if Celtic are liable, remember to mute yourself if the victims case goes against them, but feel free to show the victims compassion, empathy & care no matter what.
It’s what they deserve.

The game against Ferencvaros could be the start of our campaign to be the inaugural winners of the EUFA Conference League.

I assume this is tongue in cheek.

Leverkusen & Betis already look home and hosed, barring a spectacular collapse (them) or massive improvement (ourselves), neither of which seem remotely likely in the next few weeks.

This means that the games against Ferencvaros are essentially a qualifier for the Conference League Play-Off and I’m far from convinced that we’re good enough.

It’s little over a year since they beat us and at Celtic Park no less.

They also only lost to Leverkusen by a single goal in Germany.

We’ll be doing well to get to the PO and beyond that it’ll be 1 game at a time but I’ll be astonished if we go far based on where we are right now, the 6th best side in Scotland.

Celtic PLC no matter what we think is a ‘trusted’ company. It has more than a 60k “Faithful Through and Through” support. FACT – it has currently – 28,335 share holders, I would bet my pension that 28,300 bought their shares when we all bought into Fergus’s dream. Trusted companies are highly prized and as a football club Celtic FC is ranked extremely highly in European football. Our present custodians are stale, been in situ for far too long, stale of thought and stale of action, or, missing in action, they, like all the other SPFL clubs, governing bodies and MSM have bought into the “Old Firm” brand, feasted for far to long on the corpse of the dead club, they, the dead club are dragging us down. Who would want to buy into the dead club? a club whose past chairman was a convicted criminal, with a destructive support. The whole club, our club, needs a complete shake up with a new bunch of directors, new leadership, a new purpose, we are the epitome of a sleeping giant. Scottish football as a whole needs cleansing and a boot up the whole…

Things at Celtic Trust end going through their due process so not able to provide information about where matters stand on the Note of Concern Resolution as yet other than they are getting there on reaching the 100 requisitions required to have it tabled.

If you are a shareholder but not in the CST e mail trust@celtictrust.net and ask to be sent the relevant documents to help you decide if you wish to support the resolution..

I can’t wait to see the back of this board, and Dermot Desmond most of all, but unfortunately an even worse corporate future is all that awaits us, that awaits all football.

For the conglomerate corporate parasite that is epitomised by Freemasonry is concerned only with the consumption of all that is good and just and pure on this Earth, with absolute corruption its ultimate agenda.

And Celtic will be its next prime target.

There’s only two ways the club will go in the current climate.

The first is the fan ownership of a kind through the Celtic Trust route which as I understand it is to gradually build up a big enough bloc of shares to exert some control over the board. Nice idea but will take the rest of the millenium before it happens.

The second is for some big corporate giant like Red Bull/RB to buy out Desmond and the other major shareholders and run it as a franchise to realise the club’s full global commercial potential. Effectively, this would see the removal of the current incompetent bunch of capitalist bar stewards with others who at least would be a damn sight more competent and professional.

My heart is the fan ownership option but if the real choice is between a Desmond/Bankier run board and a RB appointed board, I take RB any day of the week.

The fan ownership option is off the table as DD, or whoever owns it, simply increases their own holdings and I find it incredible, indeed laughable, that the CST would even suggest such a pointless course of action unless they want increased dividends for DD.

So, to quote misquote Robert Carlyle in Trainspotting, well, the fvckin heartless corporate model it is then, though I doubt anyone could be more heartless in the running of Celtic than that incumbent moustachioed vaudevillian villain who really ISN’T a ruthless gangster in any way, shape or form …

The fan ownership option is off the table as the rich owners only have to increase their own holdings to thwart it and it’s laughable that the CST would suggest such a course fo action, unless they want to further enrichen the board, which might be worth thinking about.

There will be no fan ownership, the rich simply increase their own holdings.

The CST’s motives in suggesting such a fruitless course of action are questionable to say the least and throws a shadow over them, most likely that of DD himself.

One look at the Operating Expenses during Desmond’s tenure will show that they already have.

A grand total 1.5 BILLION Quid in around 25 year, with a fair 20-30% of it wholly unaccounted for, with only one UEFA Cup Final and one good result against Barcelona to show for it …

The only surprise is that the corporations have nudged Herr Moustache out the way sooner.

1.5 Billion Quid just to watch our fortress crumble so we can get humbled at home by St. Mirren, Livingston & Scotland’s newest club …

THERE’s yer legacy, Dermot Desmond.

Yeah, that’s about as far as their limited wee brains can see, though it is extremely disturbing how quickly the anti jab movement has been hijacked by nationalism in all countries.

All part of the plan, of course, but it’s a further indictment of people’s general stupidity if not insanity how many fly their country’s flag in this international war against humanity.

For what did any of their countries ever do for them?

A country is just an inanimate piece of land with arbitrary and entirely made up borders by those bastards running this entire shitshow.

What level of ignorance is required for people not to see that the nationalist card is just another tool used to divide people from each other.

I’ve realised I should remain silent on it in public as those who were meant to get the thing got it and those spared were spared for a reason.

No one can interfere with God’s Will and if someone hasn’t realised what’s going on by now then it’s not my place to further infuriate their ignorance with Truth as God alone has chosen those who see and those who don’t.

And for that at least we should both be thankful.

Best regards, Eugene, if only this world had more men like ye.
