Celtic Diary Wednesday May 5: The Green and White Mile

Whilst games are won on the pitch, there is no doubt that proper planning and preparation prevents, as they say, piss poor performances.

That sort of planning should take place on the Green and White Mile, somewhere in the bowels of Lennoxtown, and of course, what happens on the mile stays on the mile,,,but oh the gossip….

As Celtic have had the monopoly on piss poor performances for some time now, then its fair to assume that there has been little or no planning taking place. thats why on a number of occasions a number of players…alright , mostly Dieg Laxalt, have found themselves in a space that is already occupied by a team mate, who appears equally bewildered to have bumped into a comrade at that point.

Statistically, there is evidence to suggest that Celtic cannot or will not defend a set piece. Long ago, the presence of Shunsuke Nakamura or Lubomir Moravcik would more or less guarantee a goal for Celtic from a free kick, and a damn decent delivery from a corner.

These days, a set piece against us is as good as a penalty…

Yet no one has sorted it out. no one has drilled the defenders into defending, theres a real fear in the team when they are forced to defend, and that kind of fear leads to mistakes, which lead to goals. and so the spiral of confidence whirls downwards…

When Brendan Rodgers left, he wanted to take some of the backroom staff with him. So you’d assume he rated them, and if only the figurehead has gone, the coaches should have been allowed free reign to continue with the standards and development set in place by Ronny Deila and built on by Rodgers.

That didn’t happen, what we had instead was the removal of the teacher from the room and the class ignored the substitute.

Neil Lennon, the manager , adopted a hands off approach, allowing or encouraging the coaches to carry on as they had under Rodgers, but it soon became apparent that they weren’t paying as much attention to him as they did to Rodgers.

In a sense, it looked as though the disrespect shown to Ronny Deila had returned, and that could be explained by Lennon’s half arsed attitude to discipline and fitness, epitomised when everyone thought it hilarious when Leigh Griffiths tied his monitoring equipment to his car, to give the impression presumably he’s still capable of 0-60 in a few seconds, when all it did was expose that he probably needed a new engine…

All great larks, but as that attiude began to prevail, the overall level of fitness dropped, to the extent now where Celtoc rarelyt score in the second half of matches, but most of the players could tell you whats on daytime TV.

Lennon comes from the old school of management, which is not neccesarily a bad thing, discipline is important, but it is difficult to shout at someone for not doing their job when they know they can tell you to fuck off and get another job, which probably pays more money.

Then again, he didn;t exactly stamp his personality on the way the team played…opting to keep with one up front and the 4231 method employed by Deila and Rodgers.

Despite having three strikers to choose from.

And Griffiths.

As for the defence, he seemed to pick players at random when choosing his back four. Or five, or even three. Even the defence didn’t seem to know what was going on, or indeed, where it was going on.

The new goalkeeper probably felt it was all Greek to him, but not a dialect he was familiar with. He suffered a crisis of confidence at exactly the time he needed some familiarity around him in a new environment, and as a result got the blame for a lot of stuff that wasn’t really his fault.

Another problem was , and still is, in the reliance on loan players.

Celtic could have had Frimpong, van Dijk, Denayer and Tierney as a back four, and instead we have around aboutb fifty million quid instead from the sales of three and whatever we’ve saved in wages on the four….

A loannee from Everton, one from Milan and and one from Brighton does not a defence make.

Though there was money spent on Chris Jullien, that would probably have been better spent on someone who didn;t spend nmost of is time in the Derk Boerrigter room at the club hospital.

After Marvin Comperr, maybe a little more time should have been spent on medical examinations.

The midfield had been organised and galvinised by Scott Brown for so long that it didn;t know how to cope when his legs and heart gave up, which was around September, and there was a failure to rest him and gradually introduce a replacement.

When turnbull and Soro got the chance, they showed promise, but for some reason they were dropped as soon as Brown stopped coughing and said he was fine.

All of which seems to indicate that every now and then, Neil Lennon popped his head around the dressing room door and made a few suggestions, which john Kennedy then adhered to.

When Neil wasn’t looking, did Kennedy put his own ideas in place ?

And does that explain why very little has changed since the ginger guardiola stepped away from the dugout ?

He did seem to get a little more involved towards the end of his tenure, suggesting improvements such as analysising games after wards, once admitting on tv that they “hadn;t done that for a while ”

Perhaps that revelation had been as much of a surprise to him as it was to us….

Hands off management works, but eyes and ears off doesn’t. And if you don’t get results, you don’t keep your job.

Then again, the pandemic took its toll on some of the players more than others, and Lennon was maybe more involved in helping some of thiose who needed it with the mental and physical aspoects of the plague, certainly more so than has been made public, and probably a bit more than has been whispered privately.

Maybe it took its toll on him as well…

When Lennon left , Kennedy had the chance to put his own ideas in place, offer opportunities to players he would have promoted ahead of some of the lollygaggers who just had to turn up every week to get a game.

That he didn’t suggests that he didn’t need to…his players and plans were already in place.

As far as we can ascertain, work is going on behind the scenes as the reboot of Celtic takes shape.

Eddie Howe is just getting a few more quid out of Bournemouth before he takes the job officially.

In a sense that sounds encouraging, and may explain the dreadful malaise of the last few weeks, after all, if he wants to do things his way, those at the club who want out may get their wish..and one or two have already gone, apparently with his blessing….

We can only look forward, but if we don;t get a manager in who commands respect and knows how to, well, manage, then we may yet look at this season as a bright oasis in a bleak wasteland of despair.

But I’m sure it won’t come to that….

And of course the unseen blue pound, unseen by us of course, but non the less ferreting around.
Did ego and nepotism play its part? of course it did. But the support have craved for a long time, a proper, professional management team, one that deals with all footballing issues, who decides which players to bring in, with a properly constituted budget, who can live or die with his own choices. We had one of them recently, before he was punted out the door. Ego, perhaps did that. I would like to see more big physical players playing for Celtic, players with talent, Scottish, Scandinavian, Czech. No more Doodah speed- dial middle eastern picks, yes picks, not…
No more Accountant interfering in the football department, no more cosying up to Govan, more speaking up for the support, more social media driven information, keeping us all up to date, no more Omerta. Give us all back our pride in our team, no more excuses… more change for the good.

There’s an inner thing in every man,
Do you know this thing my friend?

It has withstood the blows of a million years,
And will do so to the end.

It was born when time did not exist,
And it grew up out of life,
It cut down evil’s strangling vines,
Like a slashing searing knife.

It lit fires when fires were not,
And burnt the mind of man,
Tempering leadened hearts to steel,

From the time that time began.

It wept by the waters of Babylon,
And when all men were a loss,
It screeched in writhing agony,
And it hung bleeding from the Cross.

It died in Rome by lion and sword,
And in defiant cruel array,
When the deathly word was ‘Spartacus’
Along the Appian Way.

It marched with Wat the Tyler’s poor,
And frightened lord and king,
And it was emblazoned in their deathly stare,
As e’er a living thing.

It smiled in holy innocence,
Before conquistadors of old,
So meek and tame and unaware,
Of the deathly power of gold.

It burst forth through pitiful Paris streets,

And stormed the old Bastille,
And marched upon the serpent’s head,
And crushed it ‘neath its heel.

It died in blood on Buffalo Plains,
And starved by moons of rain,
Its heart was buried in Wounded Knee,
But it will come to rise again.

It screamed aloud by Kerry lakes,
As it was knelt upon the ground,

And it died in great defiance,
As they coldly shot it down.

It is found in every light of hope,
It knows no bounds nor space
It has risen in red and black and white,
It is there in every race.

It lies in the hearts of heroes dead,
It screams in tyrants’ eyes,
It has reached the peak of mountains high,

It comes searing ‘cross the skies.

It lights the dark of this prison cell,
It thunders forth its might,
It is ‘the undauntable thought’, my friend,
That thought that says ‘I’m right!’

Oztim. Auldheid and the Resolutioner’s met with Lawwell and other board members many times at Celtic park. They gave him proof that a fraud was carried out with the C.L. licence and answered all his queries. Every time they did so, he would ask for more and more information, they gave him the information. They spent £11k of their own money trying to obtain justice for our club, as you know the Huns hadn’t paid their social taxes and should have been denied access to that years C.L. qualifiers, at Celtic’s expense. He led them down a cul-de-sac, refusing to act on their information. All the information regarding the licence is out there, it is available for everyone to read, it doesn’t need a FOI request. Regan the CEO off the SFA and Petrie chairman of the licencing committee, along with members of the Hun board along with Lawwell’s silence/ complicity cheated our club out of monies, they the Huns failed in the qualifiers losing to Molde? think if they hadn’t lost and progressed into the CL. all designed to keep the blue pound.
The 5 Way agreement – addressed to Lawwell (but not his secretary), Riley scuttled off on holiday.
states “You will recall ‘Oldco Rangers’ is the current holder of the SPL share. Sevco is the new company that will be re-named as Rangers upon transfer of the membership”. Again all designed to keep the blue pound and to this day affects the judicial protocols of Scottish football.

How does Morelos get away with his dirty tricks, stamping and all? – 5Way.
Have they found the thief that tried to steal his car, utter mince. Protected he is, by the governing bodies and the MSM. untouchable – Hun believable, but still it happens. Every time a big foul happens on the pitch involving the Huns — Take it to CAS, knowing that the 5 Way protection agreement will stop the SFA acting on it… and the Celtic board do SFA.

Of course Auldheid has been the driving force behind Res.12, no-one works harder than he does to promote an honest game, his knowledge, intelligence, energy and work rate is machine like. I hold him in the highest respect. Ralph too, works extremely hard behind the scenes in his quest for openness, honesty and fair play and is marked by his intelligent contribution to the Res.12 cause. Auldheid values his intelligent assistance and holds him in the highest regard. The thing is to recognise that both work hard for our club, Celtic FC. I misread your question, Mike.

You’re saying that the 3rd most important person reHarding The 5WA & Res 12 ALSO comes from ETims rather than the other three Resolutioners themselves?

Are you sure about that?

Mike.
Reply to  G R I N G O

No, I’m not saying that at all.
There are 4 Resolutioners, the four of them equally are the most important regarding Res.12. IMO. I know that Ralph has helped Auldheid both to highlight and advise on it.
Also it was Joe McHugh of Video Celts who produced the 5 Way Agreement at the 2019 AGM, so Joe also played a big part with that.
Isn’t it the knowledge that we have intelligent Celtic men fighting for an honest game that is the most important thing?

G R I N G O
Reply to  Mike.

Yes it is.

But highlighting something that 4 other people have created, admirable though it is, leaves Ralph in 5th place and not first, as you’ve claimed, Mike, and in 6th place when we factor in Joe’s presentation of the 5WA at the AGM.

Facts are all important in such matters and it’s wrong to go spreading the wrong information around.

That’s why I asked for an amendment of your claim.

So credit is not wrongly attributed, no matter how well intentioned.

I agree that if players don’t want to be there get rid asap but as I wrote I’d let the new manager decide on every player in the squad.

Obviously Ajer wants away, and after this season I can’t blame anyone for wanting out of the cesspit of failure those Tory scvm have created, but there’s a player in there same as there is in Ely.

As for McGregor I’ve no idea how he hasn’t burnt out, and maybe he has, but I’d leave all such decisions to the new manager.

Who should have been in last October.

In 50 years watching the team I’ve never seen such a mammoth rebuild required and I’m sure it’s Lawwell & Desmond’s full intention to screw up next season for us too so that the Sevvies get enough from the CL pot to clear up their enormous debts to Mike Ashley and their own directors as one year’s pot just won’t cover it.

Speaking of Ashley, what happened to that case?

The judge had made his decision on what he was owed over a year ago and STILL it hasn’t impacted on them.

Fact is, the judge is waiting for the CL pot to come through for them too.

Amazing how far a nod, a wink and a third knuckle shuffle can go.

We need a John Coffey on our own Green Mile to suck out the toxic poison of greed and hatred that Desmond & Lawwell have clandestinely nurtured within the walls of Celtic Park.

Ralph has tried and Auldheid’s tried but that level of filth & treachery requires more than mere mortals to overcome its snaky grasping Freemasonic ways.

And with Dom McKay’s hometown of Largs being the very heartland of Scottish Freemasonry I can’t really see him doing anything else but going along with the sham of it.

“Neil Lennon, the manager , adopted a hands off approach, allowing or encouraging the coaches to carry on as they had under Rodgers”

Apart from Kennedy who were these coaches?

“Lennon comes from the old school of management, which is not neccesarily a bad thing, discipline is important”

Lennon as disciplinarian, seriously?

He left a trail of destruction at Bolton and Hibs due to his lack of discipline, which was obviously small beer compared to the undisciplined shitshow he ‘presided’ over this season.

Cartvale88

You can blame whatever or whoever, but the buck stops at DD. He must have known how the supporters feel after the semi final which lead to Rodgers. Celtic is a plaything to him as he jaunts around the World chasing the golf ball.
He allowed Peter’s reign to fester, money being flung at projects, no coherent plan to improve Celtic, no consideration of a quality manager, which suited Lawell. Major issues like disco lights were really emplaced in the attempt that the stadium could hold a major final. The future does not bode well considering the arrogance shown to the customers, or the improvement in their lot, Celtic TV being one.
Gerard Ratner screwed up in his arrogance, only the loyalty over generations continue to follow Celtic.

Yeah but the more successful the team are the better for DD. I think Rodgers would’ve made this squad more of a thing. Though I doubt at least six of them would be playing. There’s a reason loan signings are loan signings. If you’re going to loan players out then they have to come from top quality clubs I’ll omit laxalt here

If a billionaire wanted a successful team he could build one in a week.

If the ESL hasn’t showed you it and Sky Sports hasn’t showed you it and the misnomer that is the ‘Champions’ League, where there are rarely champions in any final, hasn’t shown you it then you don’t understand the pecking order of football, nor much else, at all, Ian.

Desmond has us exactly where he wants us, using Celtic fans’ money as a petty cash cow for his bigger projects, like his international facial recognition/spy network Daon, which knows more about you, and all of us, than we’ll ever know about Dermot Desmond.

The game, like the world, is rigged from top to bottom and Celtic are only there to support Rangers/Sevco to provide a focus for their rabid fans’ hate and keep Scotland divided and the Freemasonic flag flying high.

Everything else is just window dressing.

The Board led by DD and the management led by PL. The board are primarily there to provide governance and ensure that the management work within a legal and financial framework proposed/followed by management and endorsed by the Board. Board members of any company usually meet once a quarter to spend a few days with management to ensure all is proceeding to plan. If management is messing up then the Board need to act in terms of either redirection or sanction I.e sack the CEO. The CEO is responsible for the management of the business and the club in football. PL is the day to day accountable manager for success or failure at the club. He and his team including the football manager set the culture and do the business of the club including and first and foremost putting out a team capable of winning everything domestically and making it to the latter stages of any European competition. Something went horribly wrong this season and after Rodgers left. Unsure what happened and that said Lennon has gone, Lawell has gone and a few players will also be gone. That said DD needs to look at his Board and ask what took so long to act when things were clearly wrong. Board and management are clearly both culpable in this disaster. Need new leadership at Board, Management and Player level. Let’s hope we see it

You are the CEO of Celtic FC, it is your resposibility to protect the clubs interest. How can it be ‘in Celtics interest’ to be linked with Ibrox. You can pretend to look after your companies best interest, but is it in Celtic FCs best interest to assist your competitor to stay in business? Its certainly in the big shareholders best interest, its certainly in Scottish footballs best interest, to continue to be linked with them. But at the end of the day if it destroy’s trust in Scottish football by perpetrating the big lie and by cheating your own club out of monies due, whose best interests are they? Sport was always supposed to be clean and fair, Celtic FC is not Lance Armstrong or the Olympic champion sprinter who took drugs to cheat. Our club was started for the very best of reasons, it has a moral duty to its supporters to continue the values that it represents, it should never be tainted or be linked to cheats, for whatever reason. This is Celtic FC not Hunco, our support deserve much better than being associated or linked to them….

I can’t believe there has not been any comments about the situation regarding St Mirren and Livingston if they qualify to play in Europe next season.
The reasons have not been revealed why they are banned.
Clubs must have financial transparency and stability, adequate stadia, no overdue payments and youth investment.
How the fuck did sevco pass the cheating sfa test??????

Plus the loss of Damian Duff, who was replaced by an I pad.
If it’s true that the board are to offer £100 discount to ST’s if renewed within seven days then we must be near the end game.

The end game happened the day The 5WA was agreed.

Verified by Desmond’s infamous public quote

‘Rangers (sic) are a great club (sic) with a great history (sic) and it’s a shame they got relegated (sic).’

Only a Freemason would get away with three blatant lies in one public announcement and not get called out for it.

He pinned his colours to The Old Firm mast that day and buried Celtic’s legacy both in one fell swoop.

Celtic are Sevco.

Completely disillusioned and mentally shattered by Celtic this season, truly head in the hands stuff.
The biggest aspect of that is knowing it was self inflicted, they couldn’t have scripted this implosion.
We as a club are an embarrassment and before anyone calls me entitled, i’m the least entitled person you could meet.
The knawing realisation that this mess was utterly avoidable has me close to a trip to Stratheden.
We had a world class manager, an excellent team ( domestically ) and the manager didn’t want to stand still, he gave the club a few names that would have strengthened the team to ten in a row certainties, he got NONE of his top targets.
Instead……we get to see our title lost with a whimper, no fight, no heart, no passion to what was at stake, unforgivable.
Peter Lawwell has a lot to answer for folks, i will not set foot in Celtic Park until that board has been removed.

I wasn’t even born when TG scored the equaliser against the ‘movie stars’ of Milan but I was on the way and it’s as incredible moment for me yet as it must have been for those watching it at the time.

Cos WE KNEW WE WERE GONNAE WIN …

We knew we were gonnae win and made sure those smug Italians knew it tae by throwing ‘wave after wave of Celtic attack’ right at them, relentless, fearless, and still the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen on a fitba pitch in my life.

They didn’t call those Bhoys ‘Lions’ for nothing and it’s no surprise that the viewers in the recent BT poll voted them THE GREATEST FOOTBALL TEAM OF ALL TIME, even over Barca’s phenomenal 2011-12 side.

Big Billy’s last minute heider against Vojvodina, Harry Hood’s hat trick against Hibs where Wee Jinky left big Pat Stanton and the rest of their defence flat footed throughout the game, just seeing The Wee Mhan come running out the tunnel with his socks round his ankles and that gallus wee look on his face, him & wee Bertie having a laugh before taking the micky out the Huns, Stevie’s brilliant touch tae win The Big Cup, Naka & Boruc against United to god through tae the next round, those mad moments after where even wee Strachan did nae realise we’d qualified …

THIS is what it is to be Celtic.

And no way are these money grabbing cvnts gonnae be allowed to take our club fae us.

No.

Fvckin.

Way.

Not as long as I’m about.

And Seville, Seville …

Henrik’s heider fae the bye line right in front of us where he seemed tae float in the air for about 10 full seconds before making contact and the baw flying over the Porto keeper’s despairing hands and looping perfectly under the bar and into the net …

And aw Lawwell did was moan about that team since, instead of putting an even better one on the park every year thereafter …

I knew we were in trouble then.

And those who have done this will leave Parkheid in ignominy no matter how long they fight to keep control of our once great club that they’ve turned into a joke and a petty cash cow for their own greedy grasping ends.

They’ll never be forgiven for this, not a last one of them.

I told you 6 year ago they’d took it, Duncan.

I proved it with numbers too.

But you didn’t believe me.

They’ve taken everything else as well, including people’s capacity for critical thinking, as I’ve likewise proven and as their haste to be injected with an experimental nRNA modifier has demonstrated beyond all doubt.

But Celtic we can take back, simply by starving them out.

Once you let the govt inject that toxin into you there’s no knowing what might happen.

And this is without mentioning the near quarter of a billion in Operating Expenses IN THE PAST 4 YEARS …

You added them all up for me a few months back, 3 years after I did the same for you guys …

Must be well over one and a half billion in Desmond’s 25 year reign now, gone from the club’s coffers for good.
