Celtic Diary Friday December 11: Now We Can Concentrate On The Treble..

I got an old friend, who used to work for the Celtic View in the nineties, to come up with the title for todays diary.

Ach, well, surely there must be a bit of sunshine ahead ?

At the end of every night there is a new dawn.

Look at Cumbria, they have suffered terrible weather, with floods and all sorts of damage. but they’ll pull through. Things will get better.

Apparently, though, there have been a lot of sheep drowned up there, and the figure is expected to rise when the guy who has been counting them wakes up.

Celtic drew 1-1 with Fenerbache last night, which meant we finished with the wooden spoon, and thats that for another year.

Etims had a man at the game so I’ll leave the details to him.

So, before the Ronny out brigade continues the eternal debate, lets ask ourselves, have we anything different to say ?

Yes, as a matter of fact.

The team weren’t great last night, but there was another sign that ronny does have a plan, and that his system might yet work.

Scott allan is well on the way to displacing Stefan Johansen as the number ten.

This , in turn is going to remove any argument about having a big bustling number nine to aim the ball at.

They’ll aim for Allan instead, and he will have several options, as the pivot, for the next move. Griffiths in front of him, forrest to the left, and probably Armstrong to the right. Or the other way around.

Behind him, any two from Johansen , Brown and Biton will offer a way back, and the two full backs will be there to support with a run to the flanks.

As for someone to get on the end of crosses, well we could try the novel approach of aiming it at someone in a bit of space, instead of hoping someone can get on the end of it. A lot of work to be done there, admittedly, but you can see what the manager’s  trying to do.

Three out of four defensive positions are sorted, with the only issue being if Boyata will settle or we need to replace him. We could do with someone with a calmer head and a bot of experience to take over for now, as some of the passing last night in our own half put a little unnecessary  pressure on the back line, and that needs to be addressed.

On the whole, its not been a great campaign, but the signs of improvement, though woefully slow, are in there.

You just have to look for them.

With away draws in Istanbul and Amsterdam, a couple of home wins would have sufficed, and that certainly needs to be addressed. Forget anything else, no home wins in the group is inexcusable. Celtic Park used to strike terror into opponents, and put them off their game.

It appears to have gone full circle since those heady days when Oliver Khan and Bayern Munich were exuberant after getting a draw. Get back to those days, and we are well on the way.

The whole european experience this year will help, regardless of how it went. Deila and his management team are aware of deficiences, and have six months and two transfer windows to sort it.

And he is aware, and manfully, he’s taking the hit;

“As a manager you can always find people to point at and make excuses.

“But in the whole picture it’s my fault and I am going to take that responsibility. But we as a team need to improve small things.

“We need to show discipline in everything we do. We need to take that into the games domestically for 90 minutes – we cannot be lazy in situations when we sometimes get it easier than in Europe.

“This is a very good example of that. You need to do everything with 100 per cent quality and that is a very difficult task when you are winning games all the time.

“We had the chances in games that were even and we have to say we haven’t been good enough. We have conceded too many easy goals. We have to learn from this and do it better next year.”

He can see a little improvement;

“Of course I have confidence in this group, that we can do it, and we are going to show it.

“It’s tough to come here, we met a very good team and I am very happy with getting a result away from home.

“The back four defended well. On the ball we can be better and in the midfield, playing passes forward instead of sideways and backwards. These are things we have to work on, overall it was a good performance and a good result.”

He’ll get the time, and I’ve seen enough now, without the disadvantage of hysteria, to believe he might just come up with something that means we get the utopian dream of Celts who want to play for Celtic  playing for Celtic in the Celtic Way.

But please, it was never going to happen overnight.

We need to show a little support for what the manager is trying to achieve, and it is a wee bit different not only from what we want, but what we expected.

Going back to his comments about discipline and one hundred per cent concentration, expect to see a few hammerings handed out in the next few weeks to other sides. The players will be aware that there is a chance to get into the “new ” team, and realistically, so far, only Simunovic, Allan, Tierney and Griffiths are a part of it long term.

Theres room for the others, but I’ve a feeling they are interchangeable.

Next month will give us a further indicator of this.

Celtic are being linked with all sorts of players, which may mean that the word has gone out that a certain player profile is in demand.

Some are realistic, some are ridiculous.

Tomorrow, Celtic face Liverpool in the Premier league Cup. The games in chester, and for me it presents a unique opportunity to go along and see them, so we’re heading out in the morn. It’s only forty or so miles away, so it will be a bit weird, and almost like a normal fan going to the game, having time for breakfast, and finding matching socks.

Even weirder will be getting home in time for tea.

But i’ll be able to watch the young guns in action, and I’m looking forward to it.

It’s nice to have something to look forward to.

i disagree… no wins in the group stage? 11 without a win? it ws a better performance last night and has been a good trip but yet again the manager picked the wrong team… why was james forrest not playing from the start? he caused all sorts of problems again when he came on? and was there a shout he should of won a penalty? stefan johansen… why is he continually in the team? could he of been sent off at the start of the game? not seen it on tv yet? he started that game with no pace whatsoever last night… surley away from home in europe you put some pace in the side? pressure was off and they had nothing to lose and i thought they did well in bits but johansen needs to be sent away for a month and commons should always play when fit

Commons did well with that heade last night, christ he even tracked back too which I think you will find is an element to his game he badly lacked before Deila took over.
Deila is not perfect by any means but he gets far more right than wrong in my opinion but as I have stated several times due to injuries lack of form he has been quite restricted this season so far as to how much he can do.
That’s why he has my backing I am looking at the whole picture not just a few results in Europe like some.

Its well known that Deila did not rate Commons, but that says more about Deilia than Commons.Dont try to make Deilia out to be something hes not, Commons has been a great player for celtic ,hes been a playmaker and goalscorer over the last few years, many managers would bite your hand of for a player like that,as for tracking back, thats a def
enders job, thats not where his talents lie.

How many times does a team get beat at home before you learn a lesson?? And on what results or performances in Europe do you have faith in the ucl campaign next year?? @Mike
Deila asked all the players to buy into a higher pressing and quicke tempo game than than they had previously under Lenny.
Commons along with several others took time to adjust to this having been the focal point of the slower more ponderous approach by Lenny.
The play was often side to side with little penetration at times and more often than not the build up play far to laboured and protracted.
Deila demanded more urgency, the pressing element only works if all the team press as one, anyone failing to do so leaves gaps the opposition are likely to exploit.
Commons attitude to the change was negative I feel and thus Johansen was preferred in that role.
The fact Johansen was voted POTY in that role vindicated Deilas decision.
As for many Managers biting our hands off?
Not one has put a bid in for his services.
Perhaps they like me and plenty others out there can see why that is.
His first touch is brutal at times.
He loses possession then does little to retain it.
Does not offer any defensive cover whatsoever and is slower than a Morris Marina on a hill start.

@Bgbhoy
His approach has more right than wrong in it.
We don’t have the finances to compete at CL Level now we simply don’t buy the quality needed to maintain the same approach as we have in years gone by.
Deila came in with a clear plan.
1 Sort the diet out
2 Increase the tempo in games
3 Press sides higher up the park
4 Use a System that can cater for both Domestic and European Football
5 Increase the use of youth development
All of that is going to take time, the problem he has at Celtic some fans are unlikely to afford him the time to see all of that come to fruition.
Now if we were failing on the domestic front as well as struggling for results in Europe then I could see the argument that we are not progressing but the fact of the matter is we are top of the League and we are still involved in 2 Cup Competitions.
Injuries, form,Suspensions have had a large hand to play early on in this campaign to argue they haven’t is a nonsense the defence has been hit the hardest in this respect.
The defence has been our main problem in Europe.
Any of the previous Managers would have struggled with the issues he has had to cope with.
As for next seasons tilt at the Champions League?
We have 2 windows to resolve the issues we all know we have.
I agree we need a quality CB to steady the ship someone with plenty experience at the higher level.
We also need a genuine DM who can put his foot on the ball and dictate play from deep.
Bitton is not the answer I would sell for the reported £10m and find a ready made replacement as Brown needs help in there.
I also think we need a poven finisher with European experience because Griffiths is not quite there yet for me and Ciftci may well be ok for the SPFL but Europe? no chance too slow.
I don’t know whether we will make it to the CL next year but one thing is for sue we need to offload some shite free up some wages and spend on 2/3 players with quality then maybe we will see a far better result at home in the Big League.
Time will tell ..but I can tell you this Deila is the man to see it through.

Charlie,
I dont see any sign of this high pressing quick tempo under R.D.
I see slow i mean snail pace side to side passing which only puts more pressure onto the defence and allows the opposition more time to regroup.I wish i could share your optimism for next years C.L. Commons might be slow but he scores goals, other managers might not bid for him because he wants to be at Celtic,he knows where to be on the park, highlighted by his goal after 5 mins. last night.

Did Lubo have ” pace “?

Morning Ralph,
The Bayern Munich point you make is one that I share, this is all I’m looking for, that Celtic have a team on the park who can mix it with the best of them, give them a real game with Celtic park filled to capacity.
This is ALL i will ever ask!
There is plenty of young talent in that squad, Janko, Tierney, Simunovic, GMS, Armstrong,Rogic,Allan and Christie.
An experienced central defender must be bought in January, this will gel the defence together.
The board need to stop the loan signing carry on, we need OUR players on the park!

I wouldn’t be giving Deila another shot at CL qualification, let’s see what and who he brings in the transfer window tho.

The club needs Champions league football, Peter Lawwell will tell us the same.
In the meantime we need to kick on, it would just be nice to kick on with real Hope in my heart instead of disillusionment! HH

Liking the look of Simonuvic and lets hope he can stay fit. Allan is looking the part and Griffiths will definitely score more if Allan is pulling the strings. As for young Tierney he just keeps impressing me and definitely not afraid to put in a tackle and get forward to put in effective crosses. There won’t be many right sided players who’ll fancy coming up against him. Lets hope he keeps progressing.

Once Janko is fit and Fisher is back from loan i’d bring Lustic inside to centre half. I’ve been saying for years that he could play in there and not break sweat.

A strange game. Totally relaxed watching it, it was a dead rubber, Fenerbache were going through the motions as they needed only a draw and knew they could get one against us without too much hassle.

The only postive I can take from this campaign is Tierney. And he is not a world beater – it is a sign of how awful the rest of the defence has been that some one who comes in and plays competently, taking care of his defensive duties and supporting the attack is lauded so highly. No doubt given time with the first team coaches he too will begin making the horrendous individual errors our defenders share around like a bag of sweets.

We have not won a single game in this campaign, we have not kept a single clean sheet in this campaign, we have conceded more kinds of ludicrous goal, including last night, than I thought was possible. Players like Armstrong, GMS, Johannsen have gone backwards, Indisciplne among the first team squad seems pretty commonplace, our new signings have been between “yove got to be joking – Ciftci, to very very poor Blackett – Simo possibly the exception, and maybe Janko if we ever get to see him again.

So yeah, lets give Ronnie more time to see what else he can ruin before we wae up and see what is going on here. I will predict now we will not qualify for next seasons CL if he is our manager, he cannot for whatever rason, coach a team to keep clean sheets against half way decent opponents, and after 18 months in the gig that has got to be obvious to even his most ardent supporter. I wont fall out with anyone over him, something worse will happen, i ll just drift away

bgbhoy. Spot on about Forrest. We had no pace at the beginning (Forrest) and no guile (Commons) They both should have started. I also want to congratulate all those Tims who had the balls to travel to Istanbul. Your brave support is 100%. I also want to congratulate our young players on performing so well in front of 48,000 fans screaming for your blood. It was a brave performance and I’m enjoying see Tierney and Allan playing so well in very tough circumstances. Another five minutes and we’d have won. Why didn’t we win our games at Celtic Park? 2 of 3 would have done it. We should never lose in Paradise. But draws away to Ajax and Fenerbahce is a sign that we can compete.

I agree it was better last night; it needed to be. One thing I did notice apart from Gordon’s howler, was he scared to bring the man down and get a penalty and a red card of was he just scared? Any way it was not by and large the defence who were causing the problems in defence it was the midfield particularly Bitton and Johansen; constantly given defenders passes when they were in really poor positions and/or surrounded by opposition players, constantly got them into poor passing or panic. The midfield really need to smarten up I thought that Bitton was more guilty of this than Johansen and that’s saying something!

Wanyama had a similar issue when he came to Celtic a bit too casual at times thankfully he quickly erased that aspect from his game.
Given time Bitton will no doubt do the same but I hope the £10m suggested is for real because we have plenty of Midfielders looking for a start.
That money could be use to secure the CB and Striker we need.

ralph, don’t really agree that it was better, yes we never got beat but was that really better?? for me no, fernebache are a poor side and will be found out in the next stages, again for me wrong team, appreciate that he was trying to give some fringe players a game but there was nothing there to inspire me, johansen and biton, just not in it at all, boyata, the new efe, lustig looks a shadow of the player he was and as for cifti, well….. enough said.
we will never progress until the manger picks the correct team and tactics and for me in Europe this year that has been the main reason we have not won a game, bad decisions, there are a few bright spots, young KT looks a player, scott allen the same but they have a long way to go, not quite the players just yet that some are making out, but as RD said this morning, its his fault we should not sweep that under the carpet in the hope that next year will be different, he said the same last year and well the results tell there own story

mike

How often in Europe have we seen the goal that Fernebacha scored last night?our centre forward looses posession in our opponents box, young Tierny caught out of position upfield with Johanson covering,he Johanson had 10 mtres on Marko but was left for dead, absolutely no pace at all.Iwont even mention the keeper, because he was again left exposed.
Then today Johanson spouts his pish,(Celtic are scared in Europe).
January is a defining moment for Dellia and Lawell its crucial absolutely crucial that we get the right players in for next years C.L.

Ive said this about biton for ages he dwells on the ball then panics because hes closed down and gives it away. How many passes did paul lambert give away in this role. We need someone calm like him.

Cifti didnt show much at all , we missed griffiths. Cant help thinking he would be so much better as a two , spinning off people and playing on the shoulder, not having to worry about holding it up

Mornin’.. First up.. Ah canny believe the “optimism” in this article.Totally misplaced and unrealistic.
We are the shambles in Europe that we are… thanks to RD..and no one else.
This is an extract from his post match interview…

” On the ball we can be better and in the midfield, playing passes forward instead of sideways and backwards. These are things we have to work on.”

I’ve been saying since he took over that that’s the problem…Geeezo..and he gets paid for it ?
How long do we work on it Ronny…?
Also when will you tell Bitton to stop fannying around and do something creative? My mate said he should have been wearing a tutu last night..
Fuckin’ spot on that was.
The bottom line is..our style of play sucks…
Its too slow..and we’re relying on a passing game using players who canny pass.
I’m not Forrest’s biggest fan…but he made a helluva difference last night…
BECAUSE HE GOES FORWARD RONNY !
Its no rocket science.

Agree with you Mike, players, particularly defenders, clear your lines , don’t fuck about and that is one of the main reasons Tierney has stood out, he tackles at the right time and in the right areas and 9 times out of ten, plays a simple but effective pass.

Hi Mike,
I think your right about the wages thing, but the players will know they won’t be able to pick up a wedge like that with us.
Maybe I’m wrong but we need experience in that defence.
I agree with the other poster who said Lustig could play in the middle beside Simunovic when Janko is fit, not a long term solution but would work for a spell until a new signing came in.
Boyata may come good in the future but I don’t trust him just now.

All this guff about Europa and what Celtic could have done is not relevant.
Look at some of our performances in a poor league, the treble away and play with yourself.
This management team have made no improvements on the team that Lenny had, he at least won the odd European game.
The performance last night was poor, Gordon should be reated and Bailly given a go against St Johnstone. He has made two many errors and does not command his box.
There has o be an immediate improvement in home matches against the cluggers or Delilah and company should be shown the door in January.
As for Ciftci enoiugh said, no pace, poor movement, no thought, what a waste of money.
Our ‘things can only get better’ or ‘Always look on the bright side of Life’ are over, there has to be a general improvement in the way the Board and our press experts keep shooting themselves in the foot.
As for Allan, so far flatters to deceive, he gave the ball away against Ajax to allow them to score. He is not a Tierney he is a twenty four year old similar to Forrest

Ralph I agree with your analysis today. Reality is that Delia is staying, we need to balance the books and unless we sell someone for a substantial sum, the cavalry in the form of a marquee signing is unlikely to appear. John Terry could give out racist abuse to other players I suppose, or knock off another player’s wife for 100K per week. What we are left with is the admittedly slow build of a blend of young and experienced players, playing in a small footballing market with ambitious domestic targets and modest European expectations. Qualifying for CL and/or Europa league should be expected CL less so than Europa at this time and as time goes on CL say in 2017 should be expected.

I don’t want a marque signing particularly…
I just want RD to stop us playing the way we play just now.
The first half last night was dire…no other word for it…
and by no stretch of the imagination was it the first dire performance we’ve put in.
We may not have the best players in the world..but stop asking them to do stuff they can’t do.
I wouldn’t even mind so much if we going out of Europe to good teams…But feck me..they are average at best.
As for Lustig at CB…?? I’d go with that…as long as he doesn’t start the pass the parcel stuff as well.

Lustigs been injured for some time, he is not the answer, just let them go out and find a good centrehalf, someone with a bit of stature to clear there lines and that can header a ball, their is plenty out there that dont cost a fortune its not rocket science.

Here’s some more info.on the Judge…
Seems to be a bit of a legal FUD…!

These comments are from another Judge regarding another case Smith was on.

All this is reminiscent of Smith’s refusal to recuse himself in a case where Addleshaws represented a party and the application was made by AG on the basis that it and Smith had recently failed to reach agreement for him to join as a consultant (not least, rumour had it, as he was seeking £750K p.a.). The CA allowed AG’s appeal, giving Smith a pasting in the process.
This buffoon has no shame, no sense of professional judgement and is a disgrace to the Bench. As with Jeremiah Harman some years ago, he should be told to resign or face a motion before Parliament for his removal – Harman had the good sense to resign.

As far as I can see..he’s a bit of a “chancer”…and not thought of very highly in legal circles.
For another Judge to suggest he be struck off is…well..

Good points made about johansen,he looks totally disinterested, and should be dropped why can’t the manager see this, fenerbache were just going through the motions, little sign of improvement not very hopeful for Europe next year if this status quo remains, was totally disappointed with the performance again ,our European campaign has been a disaster from start to finish.

Cmons gosl was class . Tesm played well in the second half. Forrest voild play in the epl and along with rogic and tierney are worth a bit og cash. Every game apart from the molde away game we have more than held are own. My grievances with the manager is that he doesnt understand the concept of horses for courses ie playing the right team dunno he may have narcissistic personality disorder because his utterances in the media seem grandiose and detached from the realities of the situations he doesnt seem to use a map that fits the territory and offers nothing more than blind optimism and that he has plans of unlomoted success with no evidence that its coming any time soon

Remember that a lot of the defensive mistakes/misplaced passes are down to the system Deila plays. He expects too much of the defenders, he wants them to act like ball-playing midfielders, taking the ball forward and playing killer passes but its not working as our defenders usual passing options are risky passes to a static midfield, to each other or the goalkeeper. Defenders are typically the outfield players with the least skill on the ball yet Deila wants them to do everything and all he is doing is building on sand and wondering why it comes crashing down around him. It may be ok for guys like Van Dijk but folk like Ambrose and Boyata will make mistakes on the ball when they are under pressure, yet Deila seems to encourage this.

Last night, Boyata had possession more times than anyone on the pitch, except Biton, and more than Allan and Armstrong combined. We passed it back so much that Gordon had possession more times than Diego. This is typical in Europe, under Deila. Where is this attractive, attacking style we were promised? We’ve always liked creative players at Celtic but give it Jinky, give it to Lubo, give it to Henrik has been replaced by give it to Dedryck. Deila is making our defenders see more of the ball than our midfield and is then puzzled when they make mistakes under pressure. Our midfield, except Commons and Brown, seems more bothered about keeping shape for a counter opportunitys than finding space and getting on the ball.

Gordon made a mistake last but i’m not bothered due to the game being a dead rubber, but a lot of fans are getting on the players backs, Ambrose and Boyata in particular, because they don’t have the ability to do what the manager ask of them. It’s not Ambroses fault that he not as good as Beckenbauer just as its not Bitons fault that hes not as good as Zidane. The blame rests squarely on the manager, either because he has failed to sign players capable of what he wants or because he sees what the players limitations are in training and somehow expects them to turn into superstars on matchday. Telling Murdo MacLeod he is Pele does not make it so.

Doc, spot on. leaves two options. Find the players who can play the system or change the system. That’s it maybe there is a hybrid of solid back four and all singing all dancing everybody else

First off there is nothing wrong with the System it’s been deployed all over Europe by some of the worlds best Managers.
We seldom went away in Europe with more than 1 up front before Deila came to Celtic Park so your argument is flawed from the off.
4-2-3-1 as a formation is as tactically sound as you can get if you wish to defend in numbers and attack when the opportunity arrives.
The back 4 were as solid in Turkey as they have been any time this Season they were caught on the counter and the keeper made a mistake these things do happen.
The problem we have had is simple..
The departures of Denaayer and Van Dijk have caused an issue as it would any team playing any system to lose your preferred central pairing is never going to be easy.
Couple that with the loss of form of both preferred full backs in Lustig and Janko, the injury to your replacement of VVD in Simunovic and the inexperience of Boyata then that was always going to be a nightmare scenario no matter who was Manager.
To deny this or ignore this is in my opinion at best naive and at worst ignorant to the facts.
The constant chopping and changing to the back line, the erratic decision making at times by the Keeper coupled with the issues relating to them playing the zonal setup have cost us dearly in most of the games in Europe this Season.
Now that the Manager has had a settled back 4 for a few games and has opted to go for man marking we have seen an improvement in this department on the park.
When we have the likes of Mulgrew Janko O’Connell and Fisher return to the first team we may well see a more solid defensive unit appear as the Season progresses?
Throw in perhaps a new signing at CB and well things may yet be resolved in that department altogether time will tell.
Brown Commons Johansen have all had their issues this Season be it fitness or form elated?
These are 3 of our most important players at the Club to lose the form and fitness of these 3 would have a major impact under any Manager as they are vital to the way Deila wants us playing.
Johansen and Brown were key to the energy and drive we had in Midfield last Season, Commons ability to pick a pass and shoot from range has also been sorely missed at times.
The pressing game we were playing last Season has been severely hampered in Brown and Johansens absence.
I guarantee once Deila has the squad fit and available we will kick on this Season and if he is afforded the funds required to bolster the back line and Attack where we have been found wanting at the higher level then we will see a much more improved Celtic.

Charlie, you’re right, we did play one up front away back when we had the 2nd worst away record in Europe, now we play that way at home as well and we now have the 2nd worst record in the Europa League, home and away.

As for a settled team, this is unrealistic as, without European prize/TV cash, we are operating at substantial losses and have to sell our better players just to try and balance the books, you know it as well as I do, this is the way its going to be for a while and if the manager cannot cope with this then he is in the wrong job.

You talk about form, fitness and injuries but players do get injured and go through spells of poor form and if Deila cannot function in this environment the he is in the wrong job.

Think rd is trying to keep his charges hsppy giving them game time instead of getting a setyled eleven barring injuries . Funny i read an article about jock stein in john yogi hughes autobiography . He put steins successes down to ruthless decision making and that the man had an alarming callousness about him that cotributed to the clubs massive successes during his tenure. I think o neil was of the same ilk and guys like mowbray barnes and della are and were to humanistic in their approach we may need another ruthless msn at the helm . Im sure the vast majority of fans know that ronnys days are numbered and live in hope that the board will get a man in who will be as intense snd knowlegeable as the great jock stein was maybe im a dreamer .

First of all I would love for us to be in Champions League every season , in fact I want us to be playing in quarter final or semi final every season
Sometimes with all the will in the world this isn’t possible . Unless the Board can come up with new areas of funding we aren’t just in a great position to buy or way to success . I think that even though Deila is 18 mths into his reign it will be at least another two years until we really see any fruits . We have to hope the Board will have the intelligence and strength to allow Deila to develop his youths and youngsters into a winning team . Certainly some of our supporters and fans posting here have neither the foresight or football nous to give him time

Evening Ferrero,
Investing in the team isn’t buying success, when you sell your goalkeeper for £10m then go and get a guy on a free who hasn’t played for 2 years, that isn’t ambition.
When you sell Virgil Van Dijk for £12m then go and get Tyler Blackett, that isn’t ambition.

What we need is a better standard of player in key areas, not a loan signing or a ‘ working progress ‘ signing, we need players who can walk into the first team!

The board say they believe in Ronny Deila, well put their hand in their pocket and deliver the players for him then.

Money where my mouth is:
Placing a bet.
In our Europa Group, to finish:
1-Ajax
2-Celtic
3-Fenerbahce
4-Molde

We will lose to Ajax away, beat them at home, beat Molde both home and away, lose in Turkey, win in Paradise=12 points.
I will also eat my emerald-coloured spectacles if this doesn’t happen.
Relax everybody, love our club, enjoy the (bumpy) ride.
The club will improve and Ronny will be ok, longer term.
Quick, my meds!

I was at the game and your articles are usually spot on but jeezo you must be on some mind bending drugs if you think there are any signs of improvement under Deila. Only 3 clubs in the Europa League stages with a worse record than us and Deila’s win rate is 14%. He constantly picks the wrong team and poor tactics. Commons, Forrest and Griffiths are our 3 best players in their positions. Only one striker and zonal marking are a disaster as is Clifcti. You must be the only Celtic fan that think Ronny’s doing a good job.
