Celtic Diary Wednesday December 9: Celtics Next Signing Revealed.Probably.

The world is getting scarier by the day. Donald Trump calling for a ban on Muslims ? Why doesn’t he concentrate on the things that really scare Americans ?

Things like diet  and excercise .

We’ve got enough things over here to worry about without all that nonsense.

You may have noticed that Real Madrid squeezed  past Celtics conquerors Malmo last night with a lucky 8-0 win. Before anyone says that could have been us, it wasn’t, so it doesn’t count.

It may be argued , however, that it illustrates the gulf between the very wealthy sides and those with our sort of budget, But then Manchester united are out of the competition, and their budget is big enough to get them a seat in the United Nations .

All we can conclude is that we are not ready to make an impact at that level yet, but we have a fair idea of whats required. And when we do get back in there, we can handle it.

Hopefully, the management and the board can see that.

What I don’t want is for several promising young careers to be handed a hammer blow with the sort of result that Malmo had last night. Looking at the development squad, who were also handed a bit of a doing last Friday, and the reaction of Aiden Nesbitt, himself tipped for the top, and you can see why.

I think he’s still having nightmares…

” It was devastating, obviously we never want to lose and never want to lose in that way. ”

” 4-0 down, twenty minutes into the game. something for me , you know, I never want to experience that again. “

” It’s happened and you don’t ever want it to happen again. None of us had experienced something like that, and hopefully we will develop from it and hopefully it will make us better players.”

At that age, it can easily go either way. The players might realise how much work they still have to do to reach the top level when it’s not too late to instill a good work ethic, and it can encourage them to step outside of their comfort zone.

Or, of course, they could chuck it in fear that they really aren’t up to it, with their confidence in tatters.

Coach Tommy McIntyre has his work cut out to get them ready for the next game, against Liverpool in Chester, at 1pm this Saturday. Hang on, thats just up the road from me….

Tomorrow night, of course, is the last European game of the season. Celtic flew out , well, Ronny did, no-one else seems to have shown up-

to the Turkish capital for something many see as a meaningless game.

Well, it won’t affect our season unless the Turks field an unregistered player, like Real Madrid did in the Spanish Cup, a move that saw them expelled from the competition, despite cries from the Spanish press that the best thing to do would be to forget about it and move on, as Spain needs a strong Real Madrid.

But it will give us a chance to see how the players perform when they are not under pressure, and maybe give us a few pointers as to what went wrong in the previous five games.

Could it be that the poor decisions and mistakes were down to inexperience and pressure ?

Speaking of decisions, it must be time for the club to look at whoever is co-ordinating staements and interviews with the media.

John Collins on the official website ahead of the Fenerbache game;

“We always say to the players that every game is vitally important, Obviously we can’t qualify, but we want to go there and put on a good performance.

He then told the media it was a “game we could do without ”

Come on, if you don’t show one hundred per cent how can you expect the players to ? This may be more down to media questioning again, but it’s getting to the point t=where celtic are allowing themselves to be embarrassed.

Transfer news, and the next player on the list is Lennart Thy, a striker at St. Pauli, whose name has been mentioned a few times. Which means it won’t be him.

Theres talk in the sun, (I know ) that Crystal Palace, known as the eagles, and Swansea are interested in Leigh Griffiths, but he’s not that bothered with birds anymore and is only interested in extending his stay at Celtic.

There will be a lot of this type of story as January approaches, and don’t worry, even if there isn’t, we’ll make some up for you.

Yesterday, we mentioned that Celtic scouts were spending a disproportionate amount of their time watching Benfica games, and we hear that that one of their  players is the focus of attention;

26 year old Adel Taraabt is a playmaker who hasn’t made it with the Lisbon club. He’s got a bit oif an attitude, is lazy and unfit, but has talent, according to those who know. Of which I am not one.

Here he is taking a corner…

Taraabt corner

According to Wikipedia, he used to be good, though.

Adel Taarabt was to make his debut as a full Queens Park Rangers player as the club signed the Moroccan for a reported £1,000,000. The contract with Queens Park Rangers provides for Tottenham to receive 40% of future transfer profit, in addition to the payments already made. This was proved to be one of the bargains of the season as Taarabt went on to score 19 goals in 44 league appearances that season for the West London club. With his unpredictable skill and reputation for never giving the opposition defence an easy 90 minutes, Taarabt went on to win the Championship Player of The Year award and gained a place in the Championship’s best XI (also featuring teammate Paddy Kenny).

In March 2011, Taarabt missed two matches when he returned to France for family matters as one of his cousins had tragically been killed by Algerians. In the international match Morocco vs Algeria he picked up a booking and was lucky not to be sent off. In the return fixture Morocco manager Erik Gerets decided to drop Taarabt to the bench. Taarabt decided to not turn up to the international fixture and vowed to never play for his country again. However, several months later Taarabt wanted to play for Morocco again which Gerets reluctantly allowed but said that if Taarabt acted irrationally again he would not play for his country whilst he was in charge.

Some notable moments during the season were against Cardiff City (away, 2–2 draw) where Taarabt picked up a brace, scoring a wonder goal in the process. During the home game against the same opposition, Taarabt scored the winner which took QPR back to the top of the Championship.

He offers something different, which might just be what Celtic need, but he doesn’t seem to be much better than what we already have, so its probably nonsense again from the media.

After all, haven’t second Rangers just snapped up a Moroccan wonder boy with issues ?

Perhaps Lawwell saw that story, and immediately ordered his scouts to “get me one of them ”

Anyway, we all know it’ll be Martin Odegaard on loan.

The recent bad weather means that Carlisle uniteds next game is in doubt, although they will hold a pitch inspection on the morning of the match.

That is a real photograph, by the way.

Over at Ibrox, it looks like there’ll be another sleepless night for Dave King as we hear that his court case has been postponed until tomorrow.

So there’s time for him to do that last minute christmas shopping in case he gets called away for the festivities.

John Kurila was the centre half in yesterdays picture. From the Celtic Wiki..

Centre-half John Kurila was a strong defender who joined Celtic from St Francis Boys Guild in August 1958.

He made his competitive debut at right-back in a 2-0 league defeat to Motherwell on April 8th 1959. Despite being an outstanding skipper of a successful reserve side John’s first team opportunities at Celtic Park were limited as he was forced to play under-study to the considerable talents of Bobby Evans and then Billy McNeill. Had John played in another era he could have been a very successful player.

Displacing the aforementioned greats was no easy task, but he enjoyed success in the reserves, winning three 2nd XI Championship medals and a reserve league cup medal also. He had a few games for the senior but to no avail.

He was eventually released in May 1962 having had a torrid season through 1961-62 when he had at times to play in the Combined Reserve team and he was released at the end of the season on a free. He went on to enjoy success playing for a number of lower league English sides – most notably Northampton Town.

His main claim to fame however is when he was part of the famous Colchester giant killing side who defeated the then mighty Leeds United – Bremner, Giles et al in February 1971. Colchester were 3-2 winners.

John Kurila was of Lithuanian descent, his grandparents having settled from Lithuania during 1914-18.

After football, he is believed to have worked in the building trade after qualifying as a carpenter.

Bit more recent now, and can you name this player…

With all these forwards getting looked at just what is the plan? Ronny sticks to one up front so is he gonna come and take griffiths place? If not they will just sit on the bench and rot away like cifti so what is the point if we allready have cifti there and begs the question wtf is cole there for , confusedtim.com

He’s ‘ developing ‘ m8, he is just doing it back to front.
He’s looking at strikers this year, midfielders the next and defenders the year after…
In season 2020 we might have a team capable of CL qualification.
Having said that, anyone who looks good between now and then will be sold and the whole process will start again.

My glass is definitely half empty!

Much better than me, Monti. Mine’s completely empty. Just get that imposter out of it. Not much chance, it seems, until we’re found out again in Europe next season.

Still, we’re getting well used to be treated with utter contempt by our billionaire betters in the boardroom.

Maybe it’s just me but the Real Madrid score last night only served to reinforce just how far away we are. Add that to the hammering the development squad took and we’re pretty much 3rd rate at all levels. Can’t tell you how sad that make me feel and unless a Desmond storm of a different type happens its not going to get better any time soon….

Hey Deidheid,

For once, I completely agree with you.

Taarabt has been a problem everywhere he’s been, and we have enough wasters as it is, thank you very much.

When Spurs signed him as a youngster, he was going to be the greatest thing since whatever and he lived off that without actually doing much to back up that view. The odd goal here and there on loan, a half-decent season with QPR where he helped them get promotion to the Premier League and then he disappeared. Couldn’t be arsed in the PL because it would have meant he had to up his game and apply himself properly, like a proper pro would.

He is a total waste of space – and talent.

Was at the Game Juve, 20 minutes headless chickens then settled, Took Derk off at half time and the difference was more than noticable. Young players who were playing for the Jersey and Futures. Chelsea were untouchable in the first 3o/40 mins though and a Great performance by Fasan kept it down to a Real Madrid style hammering. Hail Hail

Did Harry Rednapp not have problems with this guy ,getting him to train etc. Why do we need a loose cannon Celtic are not a rehabilitation centre for world footballs misfits. I Tend to agree we need some solid defensive players but all we seem to be linked with are misfiring strikers. Then again the stories do not appear to be coming out of CP so I will wait until something actually happens before starting to panic.☘☘☘

The last big misfit we had was the supremelay talented Paulo Di canio, what a player, unfortunately his head was wasted.Do we need that hassle? I would take him in a miniute if only to see that talent in the Hoops.
What chance do we have,if we bring in a player and he performs well like Griff, the next thing we know hes linked with the E.P.L. What chance for a settled team with that going on
We must bring in a new Centrehalf and a strong Box to Box midfeilder like young Mcginn from the Hibs.

Ronny has already given us something back by winning the 4th of ten . Some of these misfits will just end up like our Flying Dutchman creaming us for big money for little or no return. None of the teams that beat us in Europe this year had Prima donnas they were just well organised and played as a team. ☘☘☘

Dan, you’re right.

Redknapp said:

“He [Taarabt] is not injured. He’s not fit. He’s not fit to play football unfortunately. He played in a reserve game the other day and I could have run about more than he did. I can’t pick him. I pick people who want to try, who deserve to be at a good football club like QPR, who come in every day and want to work, train and show a good attitude. When he starts doing that, if he ever can do it, maybe he’ll get a game.”

“I can’t keep protecting people who don’t want to run about and train, and are about three stone overweight. What am I supposed to keep saying? Keep getting your 60, 70 grand a week and don’t train? What’s the game coming to?”

We don’t need him.

Next, please.

Taarabt is a flawed genius of a player.
He has more ability than any player we currently have at Celtic much more however I don’t think it would be wise to sign him as he has a terrible attitude at times and can be very sulky on the park.
I could foresee him winding the likes of Brown up no end and possibly even creating havoc in the dressing room with his attitude.
He has some skills though.

Monti

There is nothing wrong with a bit of “havoc” in the dressing room.
Listen to some of the things big Sutton say’s about our dressing room in the Martin O’neill era, Hartson, Lennon, Mjallby and Balde all had a barney at some point….the difference being they were all winners led by a winner!

Mike, get a grip mate!

Did you not see how rank we were in the Europa League?

Do you think we’d have fared better in the CL with the ‘defence’ we’ve got?

We got pumped by Barcelona a couple of years ago, when we still had some decent defenders.

Real and PSG would have embarrassed us just like Molde and the rest of them.

And don’t kid yourself that if we had the CL money we’d have ‘invested’ it in the team to compensate for the step up in the quality of the competition.

We dodged a bullet by not qualifying.

We aren’t ready for teams of that quality yet.
Next year possibly with a bit of money spent on quality in the right areas?
Been saying it since Lennys last Season the writing was on the wall when we struggled past Elfsborg then Shakhter.
We sold the crown jewels to balance the books and failed to strengthen from a relatively good position.
We have taken steps back to 2010 almost only difference being we are still winning Titles on the Domestic front.
Time some fans woke up to our situation we are not the force in Europe some seem to think we should be.
1 great Season (culminating in a 5-0 pumping by Juve) in 5 does not make you World beaters.
We punched above our weight with better players than we have now.
Our best players now are not at the level they were then that’s just a fact.
We now have to put our faith in some promising young players coming through and I think we have the right man to do this.
It needs patience and understanding that’s all.
Some of us have this some don’t I get it.
We can continue to keep going round in circles in an endless argument or alternatively get behind them and see where it ends up.

Mornin’…
Wanted to dwell on the Malmo result..and its implications…bearing in mind that this very ordinary team slammed the door in our face.
As I’ve bored you with before…I was in Nou Camp when we got humiliated from Barca..and I don’t want to see that ever happening again.
Will it happen again ?
Well if we qualify for the CL group stages next year..and haven’t hugely, and I mean hugely, improved on our current standards…then Yes it will happen again.
It then, however, becomes a balancing act..
Income versus Reputation.
The suits,as far as I’m concerned, are only interested in the Balance Sheet, which is much healthier obviously if we get to the riches of the CL..and as we wouldn’t have a high expectation level anyway…the results aren’t all that important..The potential £20 million, however is.
That’s fine if you are a Director/Shareholder/Moneyman etc.
For guys like me,however, its a different story.
I was willing to spend hundreds of Euros to go to Barcelona and support my team..but that night I saw the writing on the wall.
We are a million miles away from being a force in Europe..with no sign of the gap closing…even a little.
So what do we want..?
£20 million and 8-0 hammerings..or a big big look at ourselves,to see where we’re going ?
I know what I want.
Over to you DD…and PL..and anyone else involved.

No progress made in European competition again this year we needed to qualify from the group to set us up for the Cl qualifiers and we have gone backwards,Our manager is naive and clueless,we keep giving away the same goals and nothing seems to be rectified,Ronnie doesn,t mind if players make mistakes, bollocks,If you make a mistake in any walk of life like sport or work you learn from it ,not Ronnie or our management team, persevere with this guy and we will never see the cl group stages again, the players have to take some of the blame aswell btw.

well i am a half full….no i am a 3/4 glass full supporter….all this doom and gloom…..get Ronny out…..things are so bad….blah blah blah…..it really must be a terrible time in Celtic’s history you know with going for 5 in a row and totally dominating scottish football…..but i forgot winning in scotland means nothing because you or i could do it…..well tony mowbray couldnt do it and what if Ronny goes but the next guy who comes in turnes out to be another tony mowbray ? and i tell you what, its a huge task for any manager to try and make us a champions league team.
bottom line is we have gone with Ronny and he will be given time like it or not but he is winning at home and that is very important even though alot of you think otherwise.
we are not being outplayed in Europe, we are just making too many mistakes that are costing us badly but these mistakes will go as the players and manager learn from them.
i have read all your anti Ronny comments already so there is no point coming back at me with them, i just want to even up the debates by stating that i am willing to give Ronny my full support and the time to get us to play the type of football that we all want to see.

I agree with you on backing Ronny but only because it’s the lesser of two evils. There’s no chance of getting in Moyes and managers simply arn’t wonder docters. 99/100 times this type of team in terms of quality won’t bring us happy memories from the group stages. I don’t think we’re short of determination (look at the last ajax game, apart from Tete, all ajax players were being absolutely bullied), we are lacking experienced leaders (2 or 3 browns) and one or two diamonds in the rough (hopefully Tierney, Allan or Nesbit can fill this void).

Ronny desperately needs backing but surely there must be some level of progress or accountability? The last few European results have brought us nothing but shame. Money aside, look at our european image. We were ridiculed across the european press, we are quickly becoming a very small fish in the pond. We should back him, but in no way back him blindly.
I’m very interested what he’ll do in the January window. I’d rather spend a couple of million on an experienced mid tabel premier league quality player than blowing it on 3 Landry Nguemo’s, Baldé’s or Pukki’s

Both Tony Mowbray AND John Barnes would win the league in this current set-up with the lack of any true long-term competition. Would Ronni have won the league in an era when there was a strong, cheating Deadco on the go with the wily old park the bus waistcoat on charge? I have severe doubts.

Tony Mowbray together with John Barnes couldn’t win a farting competition in a brown paper bag. Tommy Burns couldn’t win the league because of deadco’s cheating and he had a better team than Ronny. Give the guy a break yes it will be a better league when Sevco Come up ,won’t it???? Then we can all sit back and say the next five titles were not tainted because Sevco are in the league. You have seen what Celtic are up against to win any competition in Scotland ,just go back to last years SC semi final in case you have forgotten how hard it is . Couldn’t give the slightest Eartha Kitt about Sevco or what league they play in. Why bring up the old ‘tainted titles’ nonsense? I’m simply saying that winning the league is pretty much a given for whoever is in charge of Celtic at the start of the season and is not a true barometer of achievement taking into account the lack of real competition. Europe is where it’s at and the past 2 seasons have been as horrific as anything we have witnessed since the pre Martin O’Neill era. FFS, Jim Duffy could win the league as Celtic manager in this current climate!

The biggest problem at Celtic park is the board, Deila may not be a Guardiola but the board are not helping him.
TWO BILLIONAIRES and yet we still have the Ambrose’s, Boerrigters etc…

Do this board not understand they will get their money BACK if we get into the group stages.
Why not push the boat out on the three or four players to make us a real force?
It makes sense!

Monti

Goalkeepers are fine for now,Defenders: Janko and Tierney first choice full backs,Simunovic needs a strong leader beside him, a vocal Captain type.

Ambrose, Izaguirre and Mulgrew – Out.

Midfield: Forrest, Brown, Bitton, Mackay-Steven, Johansen, Commons, Allan,Henderson, Armstrong and Christie and Boerrigter.

Commons and Boerrigter out.

Strikers: Griffiths, Cole, Ciftci and Stokes

Cole and probably Stokes out.

So as I look at that squad, four players need to be brought in, A commanding, inspirational, International central defender, a central midfield player who can boss a game and two strikers.

If the board can’t provide the manager with four key players, then that is an issue!

Agree with you montI a quality Centre half that has been there and done it, who is maybe on his way out and has couple of good year’s left in him to teach the young bhoys. Then another old head as a holding midfielder to do the same job. Not sure who that’ll be I can only think of Franco Barrie and Jan Molby.

For more balance, Europe is fucked for now so let’s win ten in a row and see what else happens. Monti, I agree with your team selection. More of Janko and Tierney, midfield is sorted. I only disagree on one thing: Commons should stay for at least one more year. He can score against anybody. We have nobody else in the squad like him. Ewanbhoy, don’t dispair. Auld Devoy shares your vision and Charlie Saiz remains our guru. Deila is learning, his youngsters are learning. The MSM want Deila out because he is several steps ahead of them. It’s called ‘vision’. Big Jock had it, maybe MON had it but he chose to go. Don’t despair Tims, better times are a’comin so let “the hoodies craw for doom…”

You left rogic out potentially one of the best. Mulgrew is a good player as well. There isny a better set piece taker at the club. I agree the investment in three or four good players would probably ensure a return. Why have we never looked to yhe americas apart from izzy fot talrnt? Evry succesful team has players from that continent

Getting back to the malmo fiasco that first game against thrm looked like it could have been a 5-0 rout early doors. Its just our porous defence poor tactics from the manager to try and sit in after 25 minutes but failing miserably with indecisiveness and pish poor passing. . Which leads me to believe there id the making of a team but the manager has no tactical nous of how to make a team adapt to certain conditions. 25 minutes into a game isnt yhe time to shut up shop. The fenerbache game would have been won if efe didnt make that schoolboy blunder l. You need confident people at the centre of defence who dont make stupid errors. To me we got a manager five years short of exprience for a club of celtics stature however im no expert

For all the Ronny lovers out there….
If Celtic don’t win tonight, it will be the first time the club hasn’t won a game in a European group.

Progress?
Where exactly?
Still we have Deila talking about the treble tho…..

The Celtic board needs removed alongwith our management team!

They are collectively bringing the club down, it is shameful and avoidable!

Mont, I wouldn’t waste my breath nor my finger skin on those who must have bought the Ronny Roar t-shirts (what bollocks). Let events run its course, just a shame we have to put up with total mediocrity for the time being. As for that clown who describes people who have a differing view as ‘hoodies’, well, just goes to show you what you’re up against. It would be great to get any kind of win tonight, but I think we’ll be up against it big time.

THIS IS CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB, I would ask our fellow supporters to unite and get rid of this board, I will not accept the downsizing of this great club.
The board are taking the club backwards with their sell and bring in loans policy.
They do not have the ability or ambition to take Celtic to the next level, why are People accepting this?

Like we did in 1994, fight for your club!

While I agree that there are major problems at board level and I disagree with the current strategy of the club, this habit you have of throwing up statistics to try and prove how bad a manager Ronny is is wearing thin. As stated before, just because we didn’t actually win a game doesn’t mean the performances didn’t merit a better result. But ok, we don’t agree on that, so lets move on.

I read last week that in comparison to Strachan and Lennon (two managers I have very little time for but you seem to be a big Lennon man) Ronny comes out with the better record after 56 games. I know there are caveats behind that but you’re not a man for caveats, you’re a man for stats.

I’ll also throw this out there. Folk on here harp on beating Barcelona and how far we’ve fallen since then. It’s as if we were beating teams like that week in week out. We weren’t and I think we can all agree that was a freak result. In the game before we beat Barca, we drew away to Dundee Utd and then in the two weeks after we drew at home to St Johnstone and the following week we were beaten at home by Inverness Caledonian Thistle! Would it not be fair to use those results as a benchmark for how far we’ve improved rather than a once off v Barca?

Monti

KTF,
Just a minute, I think it’s a bit unfair to you to describe me as being into stats, for example I have only stated a fact, that if we fail to win tonight, for the first time in group participation we will have failed to win a single match.
You can twist on that any way you wish but that fact will remain.
As for being a big ” Neil Lennon man ” you seem to have missed SEVERAL posts of mine on here where I stated I DIDN’T want Neil to get the job in the first place, now if I was such a big Neil Lennon man, would I have said that? No.
When I speak of Neil Lennon in glowing terms it is because of this man’s great commitment, professionally and personally that he gave to Celtic.
No other manager in British football history has had to put up with the racist, sectarian and bigoted shite this man has.
He was assaulted at Tynecastle, racially abused at Ibrox every time he played there, he had 24 Police protection for his family, he did this for you and I!
So yes I AM a big Neil Lennon man and fucking proud of it!
As for belittling his victory over Barcelona, the man fucking achieved what very few other managers have, he beat the best side in the world on the night!
He got his tactics right, he got a lot of luck, but HE got a performance out of our players on the night!

Away and struggle with that!

You are being overly simplistic I feel.
You disregard the loss of both Denaayer and Van Dijk
The injuries to Lustig Jozo Commons and Brown.
The lack of form of Lustig Izaguirre Brown Armstrong Mackay Steven.
The individual errors of Gordon Ambrose Boyata Izzy and Johansen.
The suspensions and sending off
The lack of genuine effort and fight from guys we have been relient on for years.
No it’s all Deilas fault?
Bullshit.
There are few Celtic Managers who would have coped in Europe with those circumstances even less with the lack of genuine quality we now have at Celtic Park.
It’s a culmination of many factors but the bottom line is we played fairly decent in at 3 of the 6 games 2 were shambolic of course but again mitigating factors played their piece in that.
Are we forgetting that lenny also got pumped 4-1 by St Mirren failed to beat Morton in the Cup?
That Strachan got gubbed by 5 in Bratislava with a side containing Varga, Balde,Zurawski, Lennon, Petrov, Thompson, Hartson, Sutton Maloney and McGeady?
Got beat by Clyde in the Cup?
Deila may not be perfect Doc ,he may be slightly naive in Europe but he is by no means a poor Manager.
His 4 Titles are testament to that and no doubt more if he is afforded the time to sort us out.

Charlie Saiz,
In the words of Jeff Lebowski ” That’s fucking interesting man”!

Do you think it fair that a manager is judged over say a dozen European games, rather than a manager who may have lost in a two legged round?
I would argue that if a manager showed no obvious indication that he was getting a team performance over a long period is worse than a manager losing a two legged tie in the first round.
Why haven’t you posted Ronny Deila’s record up in full detail?
I’ll tell you why, because it doesn’t look good does it?

Charlie Saiz

Reply to  Doc

I know all Ronnys stats that’s why I just shake my head at most of the nonsense you post about him.
You are obsessed with the idea of him being booted.
Every day same wee rants and digs anyone counters the argument it;s immediately classed as “pish”.
The European results have not been good enough this year that’s the bottom line however to suggest it is all down to the Manager is utter nonsense like my post suggests there were many factors as to why that is but you like some others on here casually disregard these factors with ease.
He’s building a side Monti that takes time and patience you apparently don’t have patience and want a quick fix.
Well without blowing millions there is no quick fix in Football.
Celtic won.t blow millions.
Get used to it because that’s the way it is.

Bit unlucky tonight as that was a clear penalty denied to us.
Still incapable of passing the ball with real confidence to each other, Simunovic and Boyata need to practice passing with intensity and accuracy.

Glad the Europa league is over, time for a clearout and investment in the side.

Deila out!

Monti

What would happen if a Celtic manager went 11 SPFL league games without a win?

Monti, you’re obsessed with using every stick you can to beat Deila with and get him out the door. As important as winning games obviously is, it’s not the be all and end all in the long run so that stat means nothing to me

The results and performances against Fenerbache, Inter Milan and Ajax were better than sclaffing a couple of fluky wins against weaker sides. It’s not all about winning games, it’s about showing improvement and I believe that against these 3 teams we showed that

Now I think that is a fair and reasonable comment to make.

Jim,
I thought we weren’t too bad tonight until Craig Gordon started the comedy stuff.
The passing among the central defenders is shocking though, Simunovic and Boyata playing the ball straight out of play under no pressure?
Commons took his goal brilliantly and underlined again his importance to the side.
Somebody needs to take Nir Bitton to the side and tell him to stop fannying about on the ball.
Ciftci looks well off the pace and is struggling.

I have watched Simunovic closely in the games he has played now, he seems to pick up the ball in the inside left position and drill it straight out of play….is this encouraged at Lennoxtown?
Boyata was at it tonight as well, under no real pressure, drill the ball out of play?

Why can’t they relax on the ball?
