Celtic Diary Tuesday February 23: Trouble at T’Mill ?

I’ve worked out why the crowds at Celti Park appear to be less than the official attendance figures. It’s not that difficult actually, and kind of obvious when you think about it.

We arrived in glasgow round bout midday on Saturday, and proceeded to the bowling club on London road to settle up the fares and tiket money. Its what we normally do.

Then we headed out toward the ground, as we normally do.

A sudden downpour forced us to take refuge in the bar before the traffic lights on the opposite side of the road. Opposite where the wee dairy used to be. Oddly enough, there was a downpour in there as well as they still haven’t fixed the roof, which is still leaking, the wallpaper is still peeling, and you have to hand it to them for giving the licensing industry the new concept of eighteenth century drinking den, complete with all the dampness and  fungal trimmings.

In keeping with the new “Retro” industry, I think supporters of a certain vintage can sit awhile, and remember the days of rickets, tubercolosis and omnipresent asthma with a better than average chance of experiencing them all over again.

From there we crossed the road, where there was another bar which served food and had a more modern interior, feturing electric lights and heating, and as we sat chatting it wasn a bit of a shock when someone among our number pointed out it was a quarter to four.

Now, whilst its true we cannot exactly be entirely absolved of blame for not putting in the effort to walk the last hundred yards or so of a two hundred and fifty mile journey, I feel the other patrons of the bar are at least partially to blame.

Normally on matchday, with around fifteen minutes to kick off, there is a mass exodus from the pub. This did not happen on saturday, and thats why the ground looked empty.

Noticing the score at half time was 0-0, and that it was still raining, and I had a burger and chips and a beer in front of me, it became apparent that i wasn’t going to walk the final mile.

Unforgivable behaviour.

Not as unforgivable as putting tomato ketchup all over my dinner -why do people do that without asking, its not like you can take it back off if you don’t want it ?-but unforgivable nonetheless.

Anyway, Celtic relaxed in the second half, and came away 3-0 winners. Leigh Griffiths is now on 32 goals for the season, and Gary Mackay Steven, having given him a fair enough head start , is doing his best to catch up.

The six point lead has allowed those of us who were a little worried about securing title number five in the great run can now ease off a bit.

I would have written about this in Sunday’s or Monday’s diary’s, but on sunday my leg and hip were playing up, due to sitting down for about fourteen hours on Saturday, and Monday morning i had to go over to Chester. So apologies for the Diary not appearing, but i’ll do two the next time I go up.

The game did allow for the combined debut of the Allan Christie Roberts axis in midfield, which did -i’m told-make a difference to the attitude of the team.

Manager Ronny Deila thought so as well.

….

….we also had subs that came on who were lively and that’s a positive thing. They were very positive and had energy. They looked like they wanted to show themselves and I’d expect that when you play at Celtic Park.

They played with confidence and worked hard. That’s the combination I’m looking for. They have skills that can open defences and they take people on so that’s positive.

I could have put them on at half-time but maybe we wouldn’t have gone on to win, it’s hard to say.

In the first-half we didn’t create enough and had too many sideways passes. We were too slow but the second-half was more direct and we got more movements.

Defensively we were good. They had a set-play chance and a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. That was a good save but outside that they didn’t have anything.

If we win games the others have to cope with that. If they do that, it’ll be tough all the way but we can’t do anything about that. We just have to do everything we can to get three points.

Careful now , Ronny. Taling like that you might have to stay beyond the summer…

Still, at least the win has stopped people asking those difficult and awkward questions, such as those in the media harping on about his future, and his his assistant manager  wondering what these yellow things are for.

Onwards and upwards, we hope, with a visit to Hamilton on Friday night, and a chance to go nine clear at the top, and make Aberdeen a little less convinced that they are a serious challenger.

Away from matters on the field, and the big story is that winger James Forrest has turned down the contract offer put in front of him.

He said;

Er, I can’t actually find what he said.

His agent said;

Er, nope, no idea.

You’d think if that were the case, one or the other would have spoken out.

However, Ronny Deila has given us his tuppence worth, which , coincidentally, was roughly the size of the contract on offer.

“We made him a very good offer, We offered him a contract and he has turned it down. I am disappointed on a personal level because we want to keep all of our good players at the club.

“But it has been made clear that he does not want to sign it. It was a good deal, a very good deal, that the club offered him and I don’t think that there could be any complaints on his part about it. It was a solid offer from the club.

“He has told us that he wishes to see what his other options are. He wants to know what else there is. It is disappointing but I think that will be it from us. I cannot see that we will go back to him with another improved deal because to my mind it was a very good offer that the club put to him.”

Forrest is in an awkward situation here. He can’t go running to the press, and complain about the offer, or even tell us if he turned it down.

From several sources, and I mean several, we are hearing he didn’t turn it down at all.

In the above quote, Deila claims he wants to keep all of the good players at the club. It doesn’t appear to me, on the face of it, that this is the case.

I don’t know the terms of the contract. So its not for me to say whether it is a good or a bad offer.

But its a little disconcerting that the player has turned it down, and yet we’ve not heard his side of the story.

My own thoughts, and these are based on the way Celtic treat their players, for example Ledley, who was called in from training to be sold, or Hooper, who wanted to stay, but wasn’t given the money he wanted, it appears that Celtic have decided that forrest will be the next player to swell the coffers.

In the past, the diary has made mention of the Conservative leanings of the board. If, and again, I may be wrong, Forrest has been offered a contract in the knowledge, or expectation, he won’t accept it, this is tantamount to constructive dismissal in the real world, a policy that one or two on the board will be familiar with, along with not paying a living wage, waiting two years to appeal any workplace issues, and sending kids up chimneys to earn their keep.

Has Deila been told  someone has to go, and as he wants to keep johansen, Biton shows no sign of leaving and no-one wants anyone else, forrest is the fall guy ?

Its all speculation of course, but when there is no information from club and player, just a short message from the club, then doubts start to creep in.

Forrest gets a lot of stick from fans, as did McGeady, a similar player, before him. Faced with making the difficult pass at the end of a move, he has a harder job than others who can simply play the ball sidieways-which they do with an exasperating frequency.

Its easy to criticise, but the lad never hides. He is always, if not succeeding, at least trying to create something, and in Europe his pace is a vital outball, if used correctly.

His contract, a little unusually, is up in December. Is the current panic because someone has only just noticed this, and knows he’ll get his arse kicked of the player leaves for nothing next winter ?

Theres too many questions, and not enough answers.

Deila might want to be careful here, as it seems the dissent in the dressing room is catching on, and becoming public…Scott allan, for instance, has finally spoken out…

“I don’t want to be here and just make appearances off the bench. I want to get on from the start and I’m working hard to do that.”

Maybe take a pay cut ?

You’ll be the first name on Lawwells team sheet every week.

It looks like the Great Exodus is about to begin. Emilio Izaguirre, Efe Ambrose, Anthony Stokes, Kris Commons, Charlie Mulgrew and maybe James Forrest.

All internationals. All experienced.

Too much ? Surely it would be better to do this a bit at a time ?

Change can be a good thing. It can revitalise a club, and it can be inspiring.

But something isn’t sitting right at the moment, and I’ve a horrible feeling that although there is undoubted promise within the squad, we are going to need some of those players named to help bring it through.

There will be no-one left to look up to.

Ach, time for a laugh.

and you can provide it.

Excellent diary Ralph. A lot of people offering opinions of the ‘type of man’ James is. It may well b time for him to go from a football perspective. Best for both even. But the abuse and personal insults from ‘the greatest fans in the world’ really do make you wonder

Refusing to sign a contract is turning it down surely. Keeping ‘The Mighty Glasgow Celtic’ on the back burner, while you wait to see ‘IF’ any better offers come in, is not an option. ‘I’ think the management team should be commended for taking this stance. Only my opinion. HH

Maybe the reason he didn’t sign was because he pulled his hamstring on his way up the stairs?

BTW. I do think some of the abuse handed out to Forrest goes a bit too far. OK, I accept the fact that he’s often flattered to deceive and never quite lived up to his potential, but he’s also turned a few games when we needed him (e.g. Karagandy) and – considering how often the crowd have been on his back – he’s also shown some cojones at times (e.g the penalty against Ajax). I for one wish him well for the future.

Morning Ralph,
Hope you enjoyed your experience in the Springfield Vaults and London Rd Tavern, however you should have Went to the game ya lazy hoor 🙂
I agree with your points about the James Forrest situation, I know James isn’t a world beater but I would have been happier if we kept him, if we lose him for a pittance or nothing, then that is awful management of an assets contract.
As for the culling of the squad in the summer, I agree you can’t or shouldn’t let a number of experienced players go all at the one time.

Out- Ambrose, Izaguirre, Boerrigter and Cole.
…Deila,Collins and Kennedy, Lawwell, Desmond and Livingston.
That should save a few Bob.
Hope your leg and hip are fine today.

Good read. From the club/business perspective it makes sense to offload an injury prone 24 year old who is nearing the end of his contract. It does indeed sound that what was offered was done so in the knowledge that it would be knocked back. It’s a cruel world but this has nothing to do with the conservative element in the board and neither is it constructive dismissal. A value was put on him and obviously James feels his value to be greater, therefore he didn’t sign the contract. He will move on either before December 2016 for 1 million or so, or go for a free when his contract ends. I would asume he’d be looking to get out the door as soon as posible.I do hope, however, he goes on to better thingsand makes a a success of his career.

They can look to Scott Brown for Leadership.
They can look to Craig Gordon for experience.
I think the time has come for a clear out though I think Mulgrew a player who can operate in 3 different positions might be kept on?
After all he’s about the only defensive player we have who can hit a diagonal ball 40 yards to feet and change the direction of attack in an instant.
When all else has failed the long ball can be as affective is a number of short ones.
I actually don’t care either way what Forrest does he’s not been missed that much in the attack when not present neither has Commons for that matter.
Johansen produced some cracking football last season,h has proven himself under Deila at their previous Club and I think he embodies the type Deila wants at Celtic.
That is players willing to work even when when they are not on top form.
We have a young side emerging at Celtic ,a young side with talent in abundance this is why even though not anywhere near our best we have still maintained top spot this Season.
That’s not a fluke btw teams have to score at least 2 goals to beat us this Season and had we not have had the issues we have had in defence that figure would have been higher.
Last season we lost 5 games 1-0.
This season that has not happened once in 43 games.
Like it or not we have a System that when played properly is very effective for winning games.
I think we spend too much time worrying about what might be at Celtic rather than concentrating on what is.
Top of the League by 6 points,a massive lead in goal difference, still on for a Scottish Cup Double and a rake of players still yet to hit their best form this Season.
Whoever comes or goes we won’t alter it one iota no matter what we say what will be will be.
I think we finish this Season alot better than how we started it.
I am a stadium half full kinda ghuy though.

The only shambles was Gordons attempt at catching a cross.
Plan A was dominate possession, scored more goals than them and if possible keep a clean sheet.
Plan B was once plan A has been achieved put on the 3 young Mifielders and see how they work as a trio?
I would say it worked out fairly well considering how well Caley played.

“Constructive dismissal”? Are you having a laugh? The guy’s on a contract until December, he’s gonna be paid the originally agreed upon amount until then, that’s how contracts work. That the club was not obligated to even make an offer of a new contract so making an offer that is low in the player’s opinion is hardly ‘creating a hostile work environment’.

It might simply be signalling to the player that if an offer comes in in summer that’s better than Celtic’s offer then he should take it, but that’s all.

Plus, it’s wee Jamsie, he’ll spend most of the time between now and December in the treatment room anyway.

Otherwise your just spreading cryptic, unhelpful pish about the club to claim to support.

“Greatest fan in the world” my arse.

bgbhoy

your falling hook line and sinker for what the club have said, have you read ay statements by the player? or by the agent? reminds me of fans from another club i know being so gulliable

on another note, why is a player who was the week before arrested and spent a night in jail for drink driving ahead of him on saturday for positions in the squad?

is that not proof indeed?

Plumsaucesaurus

I’m falling for nothing ya clownshoe.

Nowhere have I stated one way or the other my opinion of James Forrest, his ability as a footballer or the contract he was offered!

You’re asking me questions I cannot answer as I’m neither an employee of Celtic or privy to what goes on behind the scenes.

Once again I ask you to reveal what you know as you claim to have some insider knowledge. If you can’t do that then shut up and stop acting like a stupid wean who has lost their favourite toy.

bgbhoy

you asked for proof of being treated shoddily, well my comparisons with cal mcg being back in the squad a week after being in jail should suffice

also, a team mate was allowed to assualt him in the tunnel in full view of an opposing team yet no action was taken

what i am suggesting is that what the press have reported and what deila has said is lies, now who knows if ronny even knows the full truth

What Ronny knows is this.
Jamesie has no end poduct ,a one trick pony and a speed merchant who is injured half the time.
Not unlike Walcott at Arsenal(except half the player)promises so much and ultimately delivers (literally) so little.
He ‘s had way more unconvincing days than convincing ones and has rightly been offered a nominal amount.
Nothing against the lad but if he thinks he is worth moe money than the Club do then thanks for the memories and adios son.
Hope it works out well for you in the long run.
Just creates a wee opening for young Miller to come into at some point down the line.

Remove yourself from the emotional aspect of attending games then perhaps you might be able to formulate an opinion on what you see not necessarily what you here others telling you how to feel?

Charlie I don’t mean to offend you when I say about not going to the games etc just a bit of banter… My belief is if you where not down there and going most weeks you would have a different opinion on the way things are progressing or not in my case. The place is dead, the football on offer is poor and the last 2 games we have been lucky to score the first goals when we have or it would of been a different story.

I don’t think you get the full picture from a pic monitor or to sometimes and I think that’s the difference.

Of course it makes you know less of a van because you go to the games and I don’t and vice versa. But there are a lot who have been going that don’t now because of why they have seen at games over the last 18 months

No distractions ,no cunt shuntering non stop in my ear and certainly no daft eejit shouting Boaby Evans like a foghorn 10 rows behind.
No metter the fact is having done done both I can safely say a less emotional viewing actually helps when assessing what’s going on.
Just how I see it now bud no disrespect to either of those who attend week in week out or those through whatever circumstance cannot be there.
We all wish we could of course but the fact of the matter is if we all did you would nee a Stadium that held Millions not tens of thousands when full.
I know what I see I don’t need a well paid Tv celebrity to explain it to me either.
Those who have paid at any level for an extended period of time do tend to understand what is going on more than those who haven’t.
Going to matches does not alter that fact.

I forecasted Celtic would win the League by 15 points last season 3 months into the season when have you nuggets. were hitting the panic button that’s how much nonsense I speak.
I also stated in the Summer we would be put back several months with the departures of Van Dijk and Denaayer as a defensive unit?
I also have been stating fatique, injuries and loss of form have had a very real affect on how we have performed/underperformed this Season.
I have also provided actual facts to back these thoughts up.
I also stated we would win the League by 8-10 points given all of the above and given Aberdeens work in the transfer window in the Summer.
Up till now it would appear I have been spot on rregarding all of the above?

We’ll be lucky to get £1m for Forrest now that clubs know his contract is counting down. Well, that and the fact he isn’t very good. He can be good on his day but he only has 5 or 6 days a season. He’s never going to start week in week out so there’s no point in giving him an amazing contract to sit on the bench.

He might have been treated the same as McGeady but McGeady was 10 times the player Forrest ever was for us. He served us well. We should wish him luck wherever he goes next.

Im sure i still have the papers in the house in which ronny was proclaiming forrest to be a player he was going to build his team round as he got him back to full fitness. James wil be here for years he told us. Then if were led to believe the club are offering a pittence so that he will knock it back, is this a board in tandem with its manager, a wonderful relationship? Dont think so, ronny is spineless and sits back, lets the board dictate whats happening, i have no confidence in a yes mab just happy to be at a big club would oneil strachen or lennon sit back and be made to look a mug? Forrest will net Celtic about 250,000, he is not being sold to swell the coffers. He is being sold because he wants more cash than he is on now and is only being offered the same money. He is lucky to be getting offered anything. Karagandy is the only game mentioned when anyone talks about James. He has been in the first team squad for over 6 years. He is not going to get any better and best if he goes now. Getting any fee is good business. He will go to a mid-table Championship team and get double the money and half the playing time. As a professional footballer of any note he will be finished. And will slip down the leagues until he returns to Scotland in 5 years saying he left Celtic too early. As predictable as night following day.

Without his skill and endevour Forrest does not get a 8 yard free hit at goals.
Stoke went past 3 defenders and pulled another out of position as he cut it back from the by line.

Forrest has less than a year to go on his contract and the club have made him a very good offer according to his manager (who has personally worked to get him through his injuries).

Even a very good offer from Celtic wouldn’t come anywhere near what he could get from a English team in one of the top two divisions.

Therefore if he is not going to sign , we should be trying to get as much as we can for him.

Same with every player in the last year of their contract.

Good luck to James in what he chooses to do. The lad has obviously had enough and I wish him well.
I thought he was one of our better players this season, especially in Europe, and to me he is far better than some others at our club.
Now onto Ronnie,
The performance on Saturday was woeful. If the result is all that matters then we are finished. For a better than average team would have had us dead and buried at half time.
The 3-0 hides the short comings of a dire Celtic side.
I don’t think I have seen worse since big Moggas last game in charge, the difference that night was that St Mirren took their chances whilst Inverness failed.
Really if Inverness can take us on like that then Europe is a pipe dream. the reality is we are not good enough under this manager, and he has to go.
I have tried to believe in him, wanted him to succeed, the reality is the club is too much for him. The players he deploys especially in the centre of midfield is a huge weakness to his plans, yet he continues to play the system even though he doesn’t have the players to do so.
We need a strong leader to come in, Brendan Rodgers or Davie Moyes type. To take us up a level,at this rate we won’t have European football much longer.
Hail Hail

Having read todays comments find myself in agreement with Jimmybee and Cartvale for large swathes of the match we were poor, I know Charlie Saiz will point out the stats but we know what we are watching and its not good enough. I do wish Monti and others would leave references to Ronnies nationality out of the equation as it only serves to undermine the argument by seeming vaguely zenophobic.
Bgbhoy I don’t know young Forest personally but he has always seemed a personable enough lad but I have to say that I can see no convincing case for a 4 year contract not being accepted and I am prepared the managers public utterances at face value if the player thinks he can get better elsewhere then good luck to him but I will not be overly upset.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of Forrest, largely because he infuriated me when he was dispossessed he would often throw his hands up in the air and start jogging back, rather than chasing the ball down straight away. Given that and his injury record, I can’t really see why Celtic offered him a new deal at all, but they did (I suspect in a Petrov type way ie new contract to bump up transfer price) and either he didn’t accept it or it was withdrawn before he had a chance to make a decision on it.
It’s a pity there seems to be a sour taste about how it’s all playing out, and best all round for parties to part (and probably was anyway). BHBhoy, I do agree with some others here – if you know more, you should say so rather than just the innuendo – sh*t or get off the pot as the Americans say. Otherwise, all people are left with is the ‘official’ version with the absence of comment from James’ agent (and let’s be honest, agents aren’t ones who keep thier lights under a bushel) implying the official version is correct.

The lack of transfer funds available at this time should be enough for the club to tie up it’s assets, a year or two ago, we could have got £5m for Forrest.
That is surely the point.

James may as well go, he’s done some good thing but nothing special for a couple p
Of seasons now.no point keeping him.
As for ronny. If he is still in play at the end ofcthe season i will be disapointed. We might muddle on and win the league, great, but we will get pumped in europe again. I wasnt at the game on saturday, but dad who was said thatcaley where kn ocki g the ball about first time, passing it forward and to the feet of their own players. Why cant we do that, dont we have better players? Dont get me wrong we’ve been shite at this prior to ronny, but 2 years in and there is no difference. I thought he was coach, someone who would develop the players? 2 years and they still cant pass water. Also his blind acceptance that his system is the best. When we got pumped against molde he said he didnt bother looking at the dvd of the game as he knew we would never play that bad again and that he was confident it wouldnt happen again. Guess what ronny we got pumped again by the same team. Apart from the first 10 mins, we were utterer shite. Same system same outcome. When st martin was in charge he stuck rkgidly to his 3 5 2, then beeker came in exposed us down the wings and won some big games against us. What did martin do, stick rigidly to his 3 5 2???? No he adapted and changed and worked out a different system to combat the opposition. I still love ronny and i would still love him to prove me and all of the doubters wrong, but he juat hasnt got it. The Deila lama has lost his divine powers.

……Roberts, to Christie, to Allan, to Griffiths…….GOAL!!!!!!! The future?!
Right, Tic v ICT, 0-0 HT = booing from some Celtic SUPPORTers (clue is in the word!)……and the media cannot wait to say it or write about it in every subsequent match report. SUPPORTed The Bhoys for 50+ years and have never booed my beloved team……so fekn stop it! Sorry but booing your own team really bugs me and is not the Celtic way that I was taught. Be faithful through and through, there HAVE been worse times in oor history.

Anton,
I don’t agree with booing the Celtic team or players and if I have ever done it, I can’t remember when that was.
I think there is a lot of frustration being built up within the support, mainly due to shite performances and results at home and abroad, throw in being out played at home by Inverness and it isn’t a pretty picture, is it?

Yeah, we got outplayed 3-0, what a disgrace.

Whoriskey,
The first half performance should and could have seen us a couple of goals down, now if that had happened, are you telling me that wouldn’t have been disgraceful?
Now before you twist on my words and try to deflect by saying something along the lines of, I no doubt hoped we went in 0-2 down or or some other nonsense, remember that first half performance had nothing to do with me or the other missing 30,000…. but it did have everything to do with Ronny Deila, Leigh Griffiths is keeping him in a job.

“…if it had happened…”, well it didn’t happen so why would I comment on something that did not occur? No player got struck by lightning so I have no desire to talk about that either. Does three points and three more goals to add to our goal difference not merit a mention rather than what did not happen?

Barcelona could have ,should have pumped us 10-2 the night we beat them 2-1 at Celtic Park.
Never heard any complaints when we won?

Whoriskey,
I don’t disagree with the positives you raise here, however you should be open enough to accept there were two sides to this performance, which I merely raised!

But, but, but…you say who was responsible for the the first half, 0-0 performance but no mention of who was responsible for the second half 3-0 performance? Classic case of cup half empty.

@Charlie Saiz,
Barcelona were/are the best footballing side in the world, are you comparing them to Inverness?
Also as you clearly don’t understand football, ANY side in the world has to have a lot of luck to get anything from Barcelona, Inverness not so much.

Celtic fans well some of them anyway will moan about anything regardless of the result.
The game against Barca was a prime example of the hypocrisy of some,we should have been batteed that night, through Barcas own profligacy in front of goal and our ability to take our chances when they fell we won the game.
You,I and millions more rejoiced like we had won the big cup.
Invereness did not come to Celtic Park and dominate the ball, they played well, moved it better than us but like Barca were found wanting when it came to putting it away.
They managed to do this for 45minutes.
The othe 45 minutes unlike the night mentioned above we came out and did the same only we like the night against Barca took the majority of chances that fell.
The end result was thee same..we won.
However the eaction from some within our ranks was and is like chalk and cheese.
Non stop criticism of a side who although not necessarily the best team for the entire game still managed to get the job done.
This comes down to one thing for me level of expectation.
I like you expect Celtic to beat teams like Caley, however unlike you I understand this is never a given?
Even more so when the team is not at it’s best.
It was a decent result given the circumstances surrrounding it.

I agree – there was glimpse in the last half hour of what we could achieve with that trio in midfield. The first half was dire and had Caley been sharper we would have out of it. But agree that booing is not the Celtic way.

Jrw,
Do you think the players are coached/trained all week and are instructed to start games playing like we did in that first half on Saturday?
Are they told not to perform until we make substitutions with half an hour to go, is this our new tactics?
A Celtic side at home should be ‘ at it ‘ from the first whistle.
But it isn’t like that, why?

Our resident high pitched warbler, BeeGeeBhoy, gave us this nugget today…”Helps when the manager doesn’t get his chronies to tell you your not rated…..” Well Barry, friend to the stars, do you think it helps when your HUGE mate wee jamsie, (Herr Flick), has willing shills like yourself, Barry, too ready to spread gossip from self regarding footballers on blogs like the famous ETims? How does that help the team…will it not give them the night fevers?

I’m pleased it looks like we’re parting ways with Forrest. He’s been pretty insignificant in my opinion, and seriously overrated. as for the kargandy goal it was all down to stokes, on the wing ironically.

I know Bgboy, andybhoy and maybe monti seem to take opinions which differ from theirs as a trigger to rant the same old nonsense several times a day, which in my opinion dilutes an otherwise excellent comments board. Empty vessels make the most noise though.

I believe in Deila, and really hope he gets mortimer, authority and every chance to do what he says he will. That said, I think some on here are sufficiently blinkered that they’d find fault if he won the UCL.

Spot on about the game and although I never booed there were plenty who did and they deserved it. God we were poor but what/who changed it ? Why also not start the game like they did the second half ? I think it was because I.C.T wouldn’t let them play and kept Celts channeling it to Boyata and ensuing chaos.
Just saying, hypothetical and all, if Forrest signed for the sheep, could him and Mc GInn do us damage.?I know he won’t but would you like to see him face us any time soon ? Don’t think Roberts is a direct one for one either.

To lighten the mood a bit. If transfers were banned ten years or so ago, how do we think a team made up of youth products would fare? Based on folk still playing (so no Kennedy unfortunately) a team could look like:

Marshall
Fisher McManus O’Dea Tierney
Mulgrew Liam Millar (I know)
Forrest Maloney McGeady
Watt

Obviously we’ll all have our favourites, and I will have missed someone out. Midfield looks good, centre half and centre forward not so much!
