Celtic Diary Friday November 13: It’s Happening Again, Isn’t It ?

Traditionally, Friday the thirteenth is associated with bad luck. Like the age old superstition of walking under a ladder, and thus encroaching on the holy trinity, if something bad is going to happen, it will happen today.

In a sense, that would even out the delirium experienced by a number of Celtic fans yesterday, as the details of the court case involving Charles Green and Rangers International football club were leaked onto social media.

As I wasn’t in the courtroom, it would be wrong of me to tell you what happened, but James Doleman was, and his report is here;

James Doleman Report in Bella Caledonia

Read it.

It’s important that you read it, because if you were to rely on the mainstream media you would miss out on what made a lot of people grin as they went about their business on a wet and windy Thursday.

The Herald told us that;

Lawyer urges judge to throw out Charles Green’s bid for

Rangers to pay legal bills

Which is no surprise, its what he is getting paid -well, he hopes he’s getting paid-to do.

However, the lawyer acting for Green is also getting paid, it’s just that at this stage he doesn’t know who by, although he knows what side he’s on.

I’m going to use the tweets that James Doleman put out, as I reckon they are the only trustworthy source on the details that emerged from yesterdays proceedings , and thus highlight a couple of significant points, that have already had consequences.

It happened when Greens lawyer, Jonathan Brown QC  moved onto

the vexed question of the mythical concept of the club”

At which point everyone sat up and took notice, except , presumably, the mainstream media.

Then the bombshell;

“The team are paid by Sevco, play at a ground owned by Sevco trained by a manager who is employed by Sevco, fans buy tickets from Sevco”

“That is the business that is being carried on.”

Which isn’t a quote you’ll see in the papers this morning, and the poor old Scotsman newspaper would have fell apart completely, having banned the S word from their comments section.

Although there was something about it a while back…

Embedded image permalink

Incidentally, they also removed a link to our story about the club directors wanting justice, but thats neither here nor there. But it does point to an agenda.

We did ask their editor for a comment, but his reaction suggested we should leave the building

So, confirmation that it’s a new club.

And then…

Rangers was “a basket of assets that could be sold,” but these were not indivisible.

“What is the players went one way and the ground another, where is the “club” then.?

Of course, we are dealing with a media, a support and quite possibly a legal system that refuses to acknowledge, publicly at least, that these are the facts.

So when Dave King, the current chairman at Ibrox, released his response to these , let’s call them claims, there was further evidence that the wagons were circling around the famous old ground on the south side.

Just as they were upgrading it as well;

Embedded image permalink

As I said in the title, it’s happening again, isn’t it ?

Kings statement laid bare the reason why no-one really gives a toss about the club that lied  cheated, bullied and intimidated the last time it was in financial trouble, by doing it all over again.

At least, King has put his name to it, because there is no way that such a statement could be written by a reasonably functioning and educated adult.

I think they just chucked a load of typewriters at a load of monkeys to see what they would come up with, added a few threats and reminded us that they are the people.

The statement in full;

It is disappointing that a debate has re-emerged around the subject of Rangers’ history in Scottish football. It must be especially frustrating for the Club’s supporters who again find individuals within the structures of Scottish football unfairly targeting the Club.

Disappointing ? Surely funny as fuck would be a better phrase ?

As the one individual who was a major shareholder and director throughout the period that gave rise to the HMRC dispute, and again find myself in a similar capacity, I believe that I am uniquely positioned to make three important observations.

So am I. As one who paid into Scottish football during the period when you were on the board of a tax dodging entity that cheated it’s way to several trophies using players that in reality cost you half of what any other club is required, by law, to pay.

My three observations are you should not be on the board, your club should not be in the game, and you are , as the South African court says, not to be trusted.

First, irrespective of the final outcome of the tax appeal (which might take several more years) the football team had no advantage from any tax savings from the scheme put in place by the Murray Group. Throughout the period in question the shareholders were committed to providing funding to the Club. The tax scheme may have reduced the need for shareholders to provide higher levels of funding so, as I have tried to make clear in the past, any advantage gained would have been to the company and its shareholders, not the team. Certain players may not have signed for the Club without the perceived benefit of personal tax savings but there was no general advantage for the player squad, or the performance on the pitch. We would still have signed players of equal abilities if one or two had decided they didn’t want to sign under different financial circumstances.

Which is pretty much what I said. you operated under different financial circumstances from everyone else. Everyone else, for instance, paid tax on players wages, either at source or on demand. Oh, and the outcome of the tax case ? It’s not going to take several years, and i think we both know that.

Secondly, Lord Nimmo Smith has fully and finally dealt with the legitimacy of the continuity of the Club’s history. There is no more to be debated on that issue.

I’m still surprised that Lord Nimmo Smith, given the evnts of the last week or so, hasn’t himself demanded a new enquiry, as his name will be forever linked to the scandal which is now threatening to be the biggest not only in Britain or Europe, but the world. And anyway, that was only an SFA hearing, and not a court of law.

Finally, it is extraordinary that representatives of other Scottish clubs – who admit the damage done to Scottish football by Rangers’ removal from the Premier League – should even wish to re-engage with this issue. It is time those individuals, who represent other clubs, recognise their legal and fiduciary responsibilities to their own clubs and shareholders rather than submit to the uninformed ramblings of a few outspoken fans to whom attacking Rangers is more important than the wellbeing of their own clubs.

Pray tell, what is he on about ? Is he really having a go at the other clubs, who ultimately will decide whether or not to press ahead with the re-writing of history ? Well, it worked the last time, ddn’t it ? When the club wanted to be shoe horned back into the SPL, or at worst, the First division. They never learn , do they ? Which is why it will all happen again.

This is a misguided attempt (that will ultimately fail) to rewrite history and defeat Rangers off the park when their teams could not do so on the park at the time. The history of many other clubs would have to be rewritten if this illogical argument was to be consistently applied.

Yes. It would, They’d be awarded medals and trophies.

Having reviewed documentation that has become available to me I believe that Rangers was harshly and, in some instances, unfairly treated in the period leading up to demotion from the Premier League. However, that is now history and I have publicly stated, with the full support of the recently installed board, that we wish to put the past behind us and move on in partnership with all clubs throughout Scotland to improve and restore the image and quality of Scottish football as a whole. This will be to the benefit of all clubs.

So, threats and intimidation, followed by a plea to move forward together. That club is the pal you never answer the phone to. The one that makes you avoid the pub he might be in when you’re out for a beer.

And as for restoring the image of Scottish football, it’s King ( and others ) and his club that have tarnished it, so i guess there is an easy solution.

For the avoidance of doubt, however, I wish to make one point clear. If the history of our Club comes under attack we will deal with it in the strongest manner possible and will hold to account those persons who have acted against their fiduciary responsibilities to their own clubs and to Scottish football.

Oh fuck off.

No-one is taking you seriously any more, and thats why you’ve issued this statement. A last ditch attempt to secure support from the few Rangers supporters who haven’t seen through you yet.

And there are more and more of them every day.

Along with Green, Whyte, Murray and others you have fleeced those who you pertain to represent.

You know it.

I know it .

In fact, everyone knows it.

And we all know what your next move will be, don’t we ?

The sooner the better.

Embedded image permalink

We’ve a sport to rebuild, an image and reputation to restore, and a new Rangers entity would be welcome, as long as it doesn’t feature any of those who destroyed the original one.

Or any of those in the corridors of power that colluded them.

In fact, there was a reaction from the SFA yesterday when Doncaster informed Regan that Greens lawyer had let slip the secret about Sevco…

Not includng these words, the total words up to the last picture was 1690.

Who says I don’t plan these things ? ( Me-Ed )

Away from it, and apologies for giving so much time to those across the river, but this is the end of an era, and hopefully it will lead to a rebirth of Scottish football under new , progressive leadership.

Or, of course, it could all go tits up.

We need to be aware of whats going on, why its going on and where it’s going on in order to make the correct decisions that will enable the game to move forward.

Now, lightening the mood….

Billy McNeill is to get a statue in his honour outside the ground, which is fantastic news.

The word legend is applied loosely to anyone who stays at a club for more than three transfer windows these days, but McNeill can say he did a little more than that.

No man epitomised the spirit of Celtic more thanMcNeill, especially when running toward the opponents penalty area, chest proudly expanded, to rise above their defence to head home what was usually a crucial goal.

The permission was given by City planners to erect a bronze-hang on -Bronze ?

It should be gold. That man never came third at anything.

Though I’ll accept bronze, as it’s probably cheaper, and more likely to still be there the morning after it’s put in place.

now, a wee tester for you.

Who’s the Celt in this picture ?

Got to go now, my lads due back today from work experience in china, where he has been making footballs and sewing together replica tops. I spoke to him on skype, and asked him what he had learned ;

“How to spell fucking  sweet shop ”

There probably won’t ba diary tomorrow, as I have volunteered to do a bit of yoga for the Douglas MacMillan hospice locally.

This involves a flow movement known as a sun salutation;

The aim is to do 108 of them.

My personal best is four so far. With extended bouts of coughing.

Does anyone know anyone who rents out defibrillators ?

Morning Ralph,
Excellent Diary today.

That is a young ( easy now Bondibrian ) Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish!
I never had the pleasure to see him play in the Hoops, but I remember him at Liverpool in the 80’s, fantastic player!

” Your club should not be in the game ” is exactly how I feel about them, they along with the SFA have broken the game.
Only title stripping and trophy stripping will allow the game here to move on.

It may be a bit early but Monti’s Ices is open for business, now would anyone like a bowl?

The conversation ( naturally) quickly turned to the Sevco circus, I was curious to find out what this Hibs fans thoughts were on it…
After a promising start to the conversation my heart sank when he uttered the words ” I feel sorry for the Rangers ( IL) fans though “….

I said my goodbyes at that point….mon son walkies!

I said on social media last night that King’s statement was “Great timing for Celtic AGM with a veiled threat. Misguided, ill-thought statement that again moves goalposts to suit moment.”

Now there is a chance that a chairman or two will be worried about that statement should they have anything to hide. The thing is, it is now the fans who are again demanding action and no manner of threats will stop the motion of what is to come. I guess if Dundee United were to lead the way we could call it an Arab Spring?

As for the titles, I don’t want them, none of them. Admittedly, I spent less time at Celtic Park than I did in the 80’s during this time but to me they are tainted with cheating. That they would be scrubbed out from history is enough for me. Let the players keep their medals knowing the club was stripped of the titles, they’d probably throw them anyway, if they had any sporting integrity. (Don’t mistake that with taking more money, who wouldn’t if we were all honest?) They would know it, we would know it, Keith f’king Chegwin would know it… that’s enough.

King’s words smack of desperation, surrounded at every turn and if one of his own “Generals” don’t do a “Brutus” on him then Sevco will head down river with its predecessor and Big Mike will pick up the pieces.

I do feel for some of the Sevco fans in a way but that is eroding rapidly, I mean how many times can you tell a wean not to cross a busy road and they keep getting knocked down? As ma granny would have said “Don’t come running to me when yer knocked doon deid”

It would be wrong to think that only Celtic would have an ‘agenda’ about financial doping. To the best of my stats here are the teams in the cup finals affected by the EBTs during that decade:
League Cup:
Ayr United
Motherwell
Dundee United
St. Mirren
and of course, Celtic

Scottish Cup:
Aberdeen
Celtic (twice)
Dundee
Queen of the South
Falkirk

and of course, all the teams that the old Rangers beat whilst having improperly registered players. That would add 6-8 teams to the above list.I also agree that individual players can keep their medals/trophies or auction them off for charity. The titles can be withdrawn but not awarded to any other team. Those years should have footnotes attached in the record books to explain what happened. The real loss is the funds that were prevented from reaching our police and fire services, our schools and social services through tax evasion. That is ‘glib and shameless’.

How hurtful this must be, given it came from the man who thought up the same club myth. Rangers died in 2012. Sevco was born shorty after. When I was born I had no history except 9 months of so in the maternal womb. When they were born they had no history at all so far they have won two minor league titles. Rangers who had a long history and a shameful one at that were liquidated and that history ceased at that point.

I had to break my silence on today’s Diary. It is a first class summation of the current “wonderful world” of Scottish football. All I would say is the problem is rooted far deeper than a club either dead and buried or created anew from the ashes. It runs even deeper than the fools who ran the original or those, many still the same, who run the new entity. The seeds may have been germinated and nurtured in the Big Hoose and the Green hoose, but the roots have long since expanded to engulf everything football related and beyond in this country, from grass root supporters right through to fully flowered administrators. The manure has been toxic and lavishly spread by an enraptured media.

Nor am I convinced the whole of the Scottish football fanbase is behind us. Many, I believe, are quite content with the status quo, especially if it keeps Celtic and its supporters disgruntled and dissatisfied. There are few who have any sympathy for us or our stance even though the threat to them is greater than it ever will be to us. Blindness I do not think is limited to Govan. Recent statements from several chairmen suggest Armageddon is still chilling their spineless bones. I have little faith in these clubs challenging the football administrators even in the face of consistent, regular and blatant malfeasance nor do I trust them to act in the best interest of the Scottish game. It is better to accept a face-ful of custard pie from the clowns than to be left out of the circus altogether. As ever, we are the lone wolves with the possibility of some hangers on with a conscience. Therefore, I do pray this time that Celtic will not sit on its corporate hands and do nothing but wring them in frustration. When BDO says NO, this time there must be action from Parkhead. Otherwise, as so many have said, just what is the point of our existence in football? The fight needs to be taken beyond the boundaries of our insular football associations to the courts of UEFA and FIFA – not that they are squeaky clean either but one hopes they are slightly less dependent and, given recent sandals, may be more open to being seen to be acting with openness, honesty and integrity.

It is really sad – no, an indictment on our whole country from hoi polloi to those who would be kings that such an amoral abscess should have fronted and dominated our sporting image and been allowed to fester without question or pause for nigh on 4 years now.

Does that mean I am the same pensionerbhoy or a new pensionerbhoy with the same history and assets which makes me the same even though I am diffrent? I know I still live in the same hoose, wear the same clothes, spend like there was no tomorrow – which is probably going to be quite true fairly soon- and sing the same songs but, to be honest, when I am told I am not the same person then I am not sure who I am any more. It is even harder to see for sure now that have had my eyes shut for so long. Can you at least recover my post? Because I am silent does not mean I have gone away.

Talking about ‘ legs ‘ is it not about time David Murray stood up and took some responsibility for the monkeys troubles?

That’s right it’s the play offs. Doesn’t affect me the team I am rooting for after Scotland got knocked out qualified outright.

ISIS are not powerful enough to get smashed yet. Not nearly enough decent peace loving Muslims have been displaced yet. Furthermore the proxy war with Russia is only just getting started. Finally you will know when ISIS are about to get their arse handed to them when Isreal actually gets involved officially.

Come on Monti we have seen it all before in Afghanistan. US vs USSR proxy war. Different factions armed by both sides to fight each other and the “legitimate” nations arming them. Watch Eisenhower’s farewell speech when he left the oval office. The military industrial complex rules the world.

Inappropriate comment you make here, like Charlie Saiz comment below, your post is ill timed and shows a lack of class.

No way I condone the massacre in Paris, it’s disgusting, my veiled point Monti was these acts were as despicable as other soft targets like pubs in Guildford, Birmingham, shops in Belfast London Warrington. I’m an atheist so no prayers from me but my thoughts go out to all the victims.

Monti

……and Derry and Loughgall and Gibraltar!

Listen, I know exactly what you were getting at, as for your Veil…well…

Like I said to your wee man syndrome suffering, Rambo wannabe…ill timed and inappropriate time to do the point scoring.
The pair of you chose to take a cheap go at me rather than just relay a message of sympathy, in the moment.

That is telling, it tells me you are a cunt!
