Friend of the Site, The Holy Poet wrote and asked for some help along with a piece on his CSCs contribution to modern Celtic folklore….enjoy the tale below, and if you can help, please tell Rod to get back in touch…
I wonder if you can help our Club out. It was the West London CSC who went onto the One Show the other night, the BBC contacted me the day before to organise it. After meeting Rod, he agreed to me asking if he would be our Honorary President — but the BBC ushered him out the door before I could give him contact details. Can you advise me how to get in touch please? Is Twitter the best bet? Anyway here is the poem and just finished it a couple of minutes ago. – The Holy Poet
The Honorary President and his West London CSC. 6th November 2015.
(featuring Emma and Hector).
Resplendent in his bold checked suit, Rod took centre stage
Our new Honorary President caused uproar, panic, rage
Our man was in no hurry, he was with his Ghirls and Bhoys
And The One Show’s introduction was drowned out by Celtic’s voice.
We were huddled in position as the clock was counted down
They asked us to be vocal so Celtic’s voices went to town
The One Show was to witness, their greatest intro heard or seen
As Rod led off our London Club with “Come On You Bhoys in Green”!
When Rod’s your choirmaster, if he sings, you sing along
There’s nothing that makes us more proud than singing Celtic songs
But the director of the BBC was furious, enraged
“They sound like a shower of football hooligans”, his words quoted on this page!
There’s their “vocal” and our “vocal”, we’ll agree to disagree
You can’t hold back when Rod’s in charge even on the BBC
It was a privilege to have sung with him, our Club was live, on air,
So Rod, if you ever need a backing group, this West London Club is there!
But a Government Inspector came incognito, in disguise
Appearing from our Emma’s hands, he peered out from her thighs
This was not a cardboard cut-out, this was really him
And confessed his name was Hector and yes I am a Tim.
Back on the couch Rod spoke to me when the cameras weren’t around
Of our tactics against Aberdeen then of Strachan’s Celtic, Brown
And after he signed our shirts, he said we’ll have a chat and more
But our new Honorary President was quickly ushered out the door.
Alas he cannot contact us, he has no details of our Club
But he can find us in The Horse Guardsman, a quaint wee Brentford pub
It’d be great if he could get in touch so if you see Rod let him know
That West London’s famous CSC will give him a Celtic show.
