Celtic Diary Tuesday July 21: SFA Go Soft As Deila Avoids Ban

Nadir Ciftci will sit out six games, with a further two game ban held in suspension after he made the error of telling the SFA he played for Celtic. On a lighter note Ronny Deila avoided a ban and there was no retrospective booking for Scott Brown, who were charged with talking to Ciftci in the dressing room.

Comedian Simon Brodkin got himself into a little bit of bother when he threw money at FIFA boss Sepp Blatter, as a protest against corruption in the world game. Clearly it wasn’t something he thought through as he now has to host the 2026 World Cup on his front lawn.

With Ciftci now banned domestically, somehow the Evening Times reckons it will help Celtic in the champions League. Which is not what John collins said, not as such, anyway;

John Collins: Nadir Ciftci’s ban could boost Celtic’s Champions League hopes

“Obviously he won’t be available for early league games but he will be fresh for European games so for every negative there is a positive.

“It is disappointing for Nadir and ourselves but the decision is made and we just have to move on, we will wait on him coming back.

“It happened with his previous club and we knew that the hearing was yesterday.

“We had to wait on the result, the decision was made and we just have to move on and we all learn from our mistakes and hopefully it won’t happen again.

We want our players to be competitive but within the rules of the game.

“He will be focused and looking forward to tomorrow’s game, it is in the past, he will take his punishment and learn from it and look forward to playing well in a Celtic jersey.”

As he team work on their match fitness, only a fool would consider pitching Ciftci into the season defining UCL qualifiers. Surely ronny wouldn’t be daft enough to do that ?

Well, not again , anyway.

The squad flew out to Iceland yesterday, to acclimitise and get ready to defend a two goal lead, and whilst it could have been more, you’d be happy starting any game anywhere with a two goal advantage, knowing that one strike leaves the other side needing four.

Collins agreed;

“It is a good score, we haven’t conceded, we will go there and look to score goals.

The Orange Order said the event was ” an open invitation to gain a better understanding of one of Glasgow’s oldest and biggest fraternal and charitable organisations.

drinking and urination in the street. ”

Image result for mission accomplished

Georgios Samaras was celebrating the last gasp winner in the 4-3 game against Aberdeen back in March 2013. One of Celtic’s more memorable fightbacks.

Now, whats the story behind this particular Celtic jersey;

Was it the first version of the new balance kit and the hoops washed out in the first wash?

1968 European Cup v Red Star? Something to do with Jock Stein telling Jinky he wouldnt have to fly to Belgrade if we won at home by more than so many goals and we won 5-1 Not sure why we wouldnt have worn the hoops tho.

64 fixed penalties a season sounds about right for old Rangers

Did we wear the top in a semifinal at Hampden and when our players ran out, some of our support booed as they thought it was the opposition, possibly Morton?

Funny that theirs not a mention of the Ciftci story on the club website,wonder how many games he would have been banned for if he stilled played for utd,3 at the most,still it shows how shite our transfer policy is and what a complete diddy of a manager we have

They did indeed boo v Morton I can remember big Tam GEMMELL raising his arm in salute that a lot realised. Of course the fact that Morton were bedecked in orange and blue was a bit of a giveaway ! Sadly I was not allowed to attend the final against the now defunct ibrox club but the result made up for that.

I hear that a left back and Anya will be signed providing we make the champions league play offs minimum.

Wore the strip against St Etienne in the European cup when it was for champions and team got booed onto pitch.
Think Cifti got what he would have got even if still at Utd to many times he got off with nothing done to him, they wanted to show who was boss.
Deadbrain please give us your wisdom, what manager and players we should have in place instead off spouting the same shite all the time.

Just want to clarify situation with Griffiths….
The article suggests he needs to be put under presure to perform…
I know for an absolute fact that this boy has changed his life around in the the last 4 months or so,and doesn’t need what’s suggested.
He has worked his socks off to adjust to RD’s regime and should be applauded for it.
What he does need..imo..is a regular starting place in the team and continual encouragement from the management.
I’m not knocking Ciftci,but I don’t think he should walk in ahead of Griffiths…no way.
And before anyone asks…
Naw…Ah’m no Leigh’s faither..:0)
C’mon the wee man.

Yep agree with previous Celtic v St Etienne 1968.
Do not know why we get coverage of dross from the Daily Gersport, its better to ignore the afflicted. I refuse to give these morons the time of day by buying or reading their verbal diarrohea.
Celtic will get through but the problem is the next round, so far on the games that I have been to, Dukla Prague, or watched on the Brilliant not Celtic TV I have not been imprssed. Hope GMS is back he lifts the team.

Has Camelot took over the half time draw was £1 for £15k then £2 for £12k now it’s £2 for up to £10k.
When you ask why they say it’s because off lottery commission, first the strips now half time draw do they think we button up the back.
It’s a disgrace.

Ah like the look of that auld Celtic top, put the club crest on the front, no manufactures or sponsor logo then I think you’ve got a seller.

2 – 0 the night, 4-0 agg.
