Celtic Diary Friday October 10: Something You Ought to Know

Ever get the feeling you’re being watched ?

Paranoia is part of the Celtic supporters  personality, if I had a pound for every time I’d been labelled paranoid, I’d want to know who was paying it.

So be careful out there. And never , ever , search Etim on the bing engine…

The East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) (also known as the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), Turkistan Islamic Movement (TIM), and other names [a] ; is an Islamic …

I did last night, and awoke to this at the front door this morning…

All they wanted was a chat, and they’ve asked me to go on one o those all inclusive holidays as well.

g-bay

Love the camp logo-defending freedom by locking everyone up. Without a trial.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, theres more specualtion about Virgil van Dijk moving to england, from a Newcastle Utd blog…

Of course Van Dijk gets Champions League football north of the border, and joining Newcastle would mean he wouldn’t get European football, and with other English clubs also said to be interested in the player, it may be difficult to attract the 6’4″ center-back to Tyneside.

Van Dijk is ambitious and no doubt would like to be a Holland regular by the time the Euro 2016 finals come around in 2016 in France, and this is one reason why he would like to play in the most popular sports league in the world.

Virgil has played 62 times for Celtic with 7 goals, and since Newcastle will try to bring in a center-back in January, Virgil van Dijk is certainly one of the center-backs Newcastle will be after.

Whether we can attract him to Tyneside in January and whether Celtic would let him leave midway through the season are two good questions.

The fee quoted over the summer for van Dijk was £8M, which gives Celtic a good profit over the last eighteen months.

What do you think?

I think the writer is making it up as he goes along. Champions League football ? Does he read the papers ? Actually , maybe he writes for them…

Its time for a look at the papers– you can tell theres no game this weekend, so far the diary has a picture of guantanamo bay, a piss poor joke about paranoia and a Newcastle blog. You can go home now if you want, because its the Daily express next…

CHARLIE MULGREW insists all the Celtic players are firmly united behind under-fire manager Ronny Deila

About three months behind him when it comes to tactics.

“It’s part of being a football manager, especially at Celtic where the fans demand you win every match.

“It’s not easy at times, but that’s what happens, that’s what’s expected.

“It’s about how we react and come out and fight for him and show that we’re united here and going to get a result in our next match.

Er, we’ve sort of noticed how the players fight for him. You wouldn’t be asking them to be on your bus when four fifty two seaters full of Loyal fans of another club pull up next to you at the services. Not on current form anyway.

“That’s just the way it is and it’s part of the job so we need to come out fighting and show character now.

About time. But Mulgrew , at least will show a bit of fight. Its some of the others we worry about.

“You know yourself when you get a bad result, you know what’s coming. You don’t even need to be told. It is how you react to that.

“The next game is against Ross County. Sadly it didn’t come the very next day, as everybody would have liked that. It’s coming in a couple of weeks and we’ve all got to be ready for that, and get the result.

“The gaffer’s on the training field every day, he’s working hard. He’s always trying to make us into a better team. He wants performances as well as results.

I see him day in, day out, everything he does shows he’s definitely the man for the job and we’re all 100 per cent behind him.

“There’s been a lot of talking but it’s up to us to get on the pitch and just do it.

“Things just don’t fall into place, you need to work at it, especially when a new manager has come in from abroad with different ideas.

“We’ve got to be ready and take responsibility as players.

“A lot of the time the manager takes the flak but we have got to hold our hands up, and step up and be counted.

“It’s up to us at the end of the day, we are on the pitch and need to do our jobs.”

Mulgrew has missed Celtic’s last eight games after being forced onto the sidelines by a knee injury.

But he is now back in full training after having an injection in his knee and has targeted Celtic’s clash with the Dingwall side for his return.

He said: “I was carrying the injury in the background for five weeks and thought I had better get it sorted.

“Thankfully I got the injection and it has worked perfectly. It’s just good to get back.

“I’ve put in a full week of running and training this week so it’s feeling great and I’m delighted. It was a cortisone and steroid injection, two of them.

“I was a bit wary because I hadn’t had one before and you don’t want to get them if there’s an underlying problem, but it was a top specialist who recommended that I have it.”

Like him or not, we’ve missed Mulgrew. He’s part of the furniture at Celtic, and his contribution to the team is immense. He might not be the worlds greates player, but when he takes a free kick in a dangerous position the seagulls know they’re usually pretty safe.

He never hides, and always puts in a shift. In fact, just adding him to the midfield in place of one of the wingers would make Celts at least joint favourites to get a result at Ross County next week.

Roy Keane hasn’t given up on being the Celtic boss just yet.

I think you have to be open-minded.

Makes you wonder if moves have already been made to replace Deila… Or is Keane just attention seeking. More likely the latter…..

He’s got a new book out just now, and pretty much all of it has already appeared in the papers or on twitter.

Judging from the bits I’ve seen, it’s a sequel to his first book, “Everyones A Tosser ” , his second, which was “Everyones Still  A Tosser. ”

This ones caleed “I’m Telling You, Everyones a Tosser. ”

He’s even got someone to publicise it for him;

Roy Keane is open to a future role at Celtic

Which was a bit of a surprise, as I though this chap was no longer around anymore, having got himself into a bit of bother when he searched ETIM on his computer at work.

Keane reckons he was tenth choice to get the Celtic job last summer, but theres a reason for that. Lawwell didn’t have time to interview twenty candidates.

“With Celtic I was probably about 10th choice. I’ve heard on the grapevine that one or two other people turned the job down, which wasn’t an issue for me.

“At the time the negotiations didn’t go the way I’d hoped they would have gone but I’m not sitting around waiting for people to lose their jobs.”

He’s dismissing it, and at the same time perpetuating speculation that he’s available.

Which, on account of him already turning the job down, means we need to get right behind Deila. I’d have preferred Keane at the time, but like when a woman tells you no when you ask her out, you don’t ask them again.

( Joke about chloroform and rolled up carpets removed on legal advice, although innuendo isn’t a crime. If it was, you’d be going down.  -Ed )

Going down, you say ?

Its a good job they put his picture on the front page, or else I wouldn’t have known which one they were talking about.

Love or hate Keane,I like a person who speaks his mind.Ferguson was a bully.Yes,
he was a success, but he did rule by fear.
I would love Ronny to have more balls. Now that I am backing him,he should have a go back at the critics.Everybody and their granny, don’t ‘fear’ Celtic now. That classiest of footballers,Goodwin,”nobody in our league fears going to Celtic Park”
Ronny, should pin this up,in the dressing room,as motivation.
My thoughts are on Ross County, international games, don’t have the same appeal.
Surely, the players will be fired up,for County. We should win that one.
We then have 4 games in a row at home, all winable.Astra,Kilmarnock,Partick and
Inverness.By winning these games, confidence will return, to both players and fans
alike.
A big Hail Hail to all Tims(even Charlie, only jesting)

Roy Keane is a prize fanny! Always has been, always will be! I’m glad he turned down the managers job, let’s hope after all the shite he’s been talking in his new “book” that he’s never considered for a job at our club again!

Was he a prize f—y when Lenny and him, dominated the midfield at Ibrokes ?
As easy a 1-0 win,we have EVER had their.Celtic fans lapped it up,with chants of
easy, easy with 30 mins still to go.His achievements at United were phenomenal.
Therefore I know who’s the f—y,and it’s not Keane !!

Here we go again Roy Keane played a blinder at Ibrox big deal
what else did he do nothing three points for winning at Ibrox and three points for winning at Fir Park or anywhere else for that matter , lets all forgot about Keane he came to Celtic when he was finished and Fergie chased him other wise he would never have played for us lets hope he never gets any job at Celtic Park even the car park attendant .

I wouldn’t have touched Keane with a barge pole, still wouldn’t, but the situation is so bad some of the names being bandied about by Celtic fans – who only want the best of the best for our club and why not – is frightening. Standards have become a low, some people would be willing to accept just about anyone who has any kind of tactical knowledge at any level in preference to the current management team. And it breaks my heart.

Also, Boyd not proven for headbutt shown on TV?

Okay, it was fairly mild in real world terms but players of other clubs have been banned for less, the football rules are there – originally ‘offered’ the 2 game ban (as the rules state) why was dropped?
Well, I know why, but yet again another helpful and blatant decision quietly going through…

Well remembered, as Jim Delahunt asked on Clyde Scoreboard, “How can it be not proven when it has to be proven by TV evidence in yje first place to be referred forjudgement at all!”

Gordon Dalziel played the “Och the Games gone mad these days, back in my day that stuff was nowt…its a mans game blahblahblah” while Jim Duffy just said “Its astonishing hes been acquitted” to be fair to him

Great column , on top form with the Saddam/Keane , etim gags.
Interesting insight regards Keane’s claims regarding the lead up to his signing for Celtic.
Inference is that Strachan was cool ( not in the good way) on the whole idea , and that this was Desmond’s call.
This fits in to the profile we see of Dermot.
Year 2000 he over-rules board re- Hiddink ; gives MON the job.
( Does this make us the only club in the world to have TURNED DOWN Gus Hiddink.)
2005 seeming to be picking player to sign ( Keane)
2014 Offering Keane managers job , seemingly in a very ” off the cuff” , casual manner , and again , in my opinion , against wishes of the board. Evidence of this is , when TV collared Lawwell outside stadium , he was quick to point out that Keane was only ” one of a number of candidates” being interviewed . He struck me at the time as being very cool ( again, not in the good way) on the Keane thing. Keane infers this himself , claiming Lawwell didn’t ” show me the love”.
To me , he (Desmond) doesn’t give us enough day to day hands on input , to drive us on to specific goals .
Instead , he seems to just pop in now and again to make ” personal ,emotional ” decisions on a whim.

I rather than Keano looked like the “Stay Thirsty My Friends” chap : http://renegadecommunications.com/assets/uploads/dos-equis-stay-thirsty-friends-239668.jpg

No wonder Tonev is out saying no case to answer. How can they make a case for verbals when they can’t even get it right when it is shown live on TV and they use the old Scottish cop out verdict of Not Proven ? SFA not fit for purpose.
