The Tim Show

The TIM Show by Brian53

Tim had been suspicious for some time, things had never seemed quite right. Of course, paranoia had been his constant companion over the years but recently it was as if a light had fallen from the sky.

The family had just finished their dinner and were settling down in front of the TV. I wonder how Tim is doing tonight said the eldest daughter. The family were worried as Tim had been going through a bad patch these last couple of weeks and they were concerned about him. The father said “Fir ghods sake, it’s only a bloody TV show.” The family as one drew him a dirty look. “Tim isn’t just a TV show Dad, its real.” The father shook his head; he knew when to keep his mouth shut.

The Producer sat at the console catching up on how Tim had been doing through the day. He had been edgy lately and he didn’t want him to get too suspicious or the show would be ruined. There was too much to lose, he had to ensure they never pushed Tim too far.

The fact was that Tim had been pushed too far and he knew not all was right in his world. His wife always seemed as if she was talking to someone else instead of him although there was no one else in the room. Things that he had never questioned before now seemed so obvious. The same referees making the same poor decisions, the way police officers always looked at him as if he was weird and his best friend always seemed to appear with a six-pack whenever he felt like running away.

The production meeting was just about to start and as usual, they all had to wait on Mr Ogilvie to arrive. He liked to keep them waiting, as all good producers should. “Right” he said “Let’s get to it” “The Amsterdam story line had huge ratings so well done to everyone and Prestwick was a bonus, we will have a cooling off period now as we don’t want Tim to get too agitated, so it’s back to everyday stuff for a few weeks.”

The production crew breathed a sigh of relief as they knew how close they had come to pushing Tim over the edge, even the viewers were starting to complain at the intensity of it all. The Amsterdam Police had not only over acted they had over reacted. The show had nearly been cancelled; luckily, Tim hadn’t come to any serious harm.

The family sat spellbound as Tim made James Forrest like faces in the mirror. If only he knew, on air and scrutinised 24 hours a day. They knew they couldn’t do without Tim, he was such a lovely guy, charitable, funny and most of all a sucker for punishment.
