Celtic Diary Saturday November 23

Another early start as the excited but depleted Lennon CSC brave the hostile Arctic climate outside to venture north for todays game against Aberdeen. Cold , miserable and windy, but nevertheless, off we go. Thats the weather thats cold miserable and windy, not us. It does look a bit cold out there

Celtic will be without James Forrest for the visit of ( insert name of opponents here ) , while former favourite Barry Robson will be gutted thats he’s missing a chance to show us what we’re missing. Neil Lennon spoke highly of Aberdeen;

It’s an important game. Aberdeen have started the season well and I think they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
“We want to go into Tuesday’s game (AC Milan) with a good performance and keep our unbeaten record going.
“I like some of the younger players at Aberdeen. I like (Peter) Pawlett; he’s very direct, he eliminates people.
“Aberdeen have got a good blend of youth and experience.”

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes, who has got his team playing quite well, said;

“Parkhead is a difficult place to go but we can win the game. We’ve got to make sure we go into the game with that mindset.
“Celtic have shown a level of consistency recently, they are always very hard to beat but it’s the kind of game myself and the players always look forward to.
“We’ve been without Barry and Willo for chunks of the season already – other players were called upon and we still managed to get results.
“It’s been a bit frustrating having the break after the defeat to Hearts. I’ve watched the game back and there were far more positives to take.”

Neil Lennon also sprang to the defence of captain Scott /Brown, who drew criticism in midweek for another petulant kick at an opponent;

“It’s not for me to balance it, it is for him. I don’t want to lose that devil in him because it is part of his make-up. If you take that away then you end up with a robot.

“He has that drive and will to win, and sometimes it does spill over.

“He just needs to pick and choose his moments and make sure he doesn’t get caught.

“It is unnecessary and that is something he has to learn himself.

“I can tell him a hundred thousand times not to do it, but he has to find that self-control.

“He doesn’t need to do it because he is playing so well.

“He is on top of his game but he just likes giving people wee reminders that he is there.

“If it is within the laws of the game and he is trying to impose himself on an opponent, I haven’t got a problem with it.”

He says he is also working on a formation that involves only ten players, which with an attitude like that we will be needing more and more often.

Lennon had some good news on soon to be out of contract Joe Ledley;

” He has indicated to me that he loves it here, so thats a good sign ”

” I had a good chat with Joe on Wednesday, a private conversation. I’m hoping things will get moving along , one way or another. Theres an offer on the table, and its just waiting for his representative to come up and negotiate things through. ”

Can’t ask for anything more than that, and hopefully Joe won’t either.

SFA hanger on Campbell Ogilvie has released a statement telling everyone to grow up, and admitting through clenched teeth that Peter Lawwell has no claim to answer for his “sad deluded orange bastards ” jibe at new club Rangers , oh hang on, that was me. Lawwell said something about Rory Bremner impersonating Tony Blair , but still being Rory Bremner, which upset fans of the new club, who don’t think they are a new club because some con men have led them to believe they are the same club so they can be meekly fleeced for any money they have lying around.

I think thats what happened. anyway, the new club complained, claiming they weren’t a new club, and wanted Lawwell reprimanded. apparently they are the same club, but not if anyone who they owe money to is listening. Which is nearly everyone.

Ironically, if they had moaned as much while their club was being raped by liars, spivs and charlatans, they might not have had to become a new club in the first place.

I hope thats cleared that up.

Ogilvie said;

“The compliance officer has informed both clubs that there is no actionable breach of the rules. None the less, I am compelled to convey my disappointment that we find ourselves in this position, as a result of an apparent erosion of mutual respect between two of our oldest rivals,”

( We’ve never even played them ! )

“At a time when Scottish football faces challenges on many fronts, it is incumbent on our biggest clubs to set the highest standards. In this regard both the comments made, and the subsequent time, effort and resource imposed on our compliance officer to deal with the complaint, were wholly unnecessary.”

As is keeping this particular charlatan in a job.

He simply has to be called out and asked if they are indeed the same club, and if so, will he be paying the tax on his EBTs or will the club pay it ?

If not, he should be asked when he is paying the tax on it.

But our brave Scottish media won’t ask him, because they have pants full of poo.

The amsterdam incident still dominates the news. Five Celtic fans were convicted of being Celtic fans in a built up area and face a jail term unless a successful appeal can be mounted-( see Amsterdam, what to do next, on this site) while Etims own intrepid reporter- CarlJunglebhoy- has a few revelations of his own from inside the courtroom, with his brilliant thoughts on the proceedings.  And he may even have hit upon the reason for the “riot ” in the first place. He asks some searching questions, such as “Why haven’t you put it up on the site yet , Ralph, ” and is demanding answers.

That will be on the site either later today, depending on traffic, or tomorrow morning, so keep an eye out for it.

Yesterday saw a picture of Jacki Dzeikanowski, aka Dariusz, famous for his four goals against Partizan Belgrade in the original suicide mission. He was also famous for being the first person in football to have an exercise regime that was almost entirely carried out in the horizontal position.

Today, this fresh faced youngster went on to great things, and set a couple of records himself. Who is he, and what did he do in English football, that is almost unique ?

It’s Kenny Dalglish of course. He became a friend of Gaeme Souness in England…that’s unique.

Are you the original weather wimp? What was cold about this morning? If I can see the car without a white coating, hard or fluffy, I consider it a summer’s morning. Of course, those from outside the town can never quite explain the strange meteorological deviances of Stoke. So, I do apologise for not appreciating the sudden drop to 75 deg below this morning. Here the gritters kind of came out. They did one side then must have got word it was just rain clouds and not a nuclear fall out because they did not do the other. Seriously, I do hope you had a safe journey to see the 1-1 thriller I am listening to (house temperature 80 deg celsius). I do hope the underground heating at Parkhead is working well. I would hate you to get piles for the journey home – well, not the kind I am thinking of.

The main stories of the day are both about injustice. One is the scandal that is being gradually exposed in Amsterdam. The second is the scandal of Ogilvie for not being exposed. The first has got to come to a just conclusion. If only the media…..!! A great piece of informative “journalism” from CJB. Well done.

The second has got to be uncovered. If only the media……!! If Ogilvie watched today’s game at Parkhead, he would realise this was the big game we used to look forward to in the past and the only one we can look forward to in the future. Any other is a figment and a fantasy. Funny he did not see the cost to the whole of Scottish football when he, his cronies and the very compliant officer who made sure the dead club could die without debt and never be buried.

A young Kenny who won two English doubles with the same club and won the title twice with a different club. Really liked Brisbanecelt’s answer.

If Ogilvie is so concerned that we should all work together in the interests of Scottish football, maybe he should set the ball rolling by giving a definitive decision re oldco v newco debate.When on BBC his chum Regan stated ” it was a matter of opinion” when not answering directly the question. It is not a matter of opinion..it is a matter of law. Deal with it Ogilvie!
