Even in the early 90’s when the old board were basically running out of money I didn’t hate them, yes there had to be change & they had to go but I didn’t hate them.
This current board however is a different breed, tory, anti fans & according to Ross Desmond obviously pro – establishment.
This board need to understand it’s not their club, they are custodians of the club, they are also out of their depth in terms of recruitment, stadium maintenance, fan communication & simply unaware of our main issues with running of the club.
Seven times out nine we have failed to qualify for the CL, that loss of revenue is close to or over £250m, this is quite shocking & because of our domestic dominance we are expected to accept what we have had & leave it there.
The alienation of the GB, the boards cosy relationship with police Scotland does not sit well with supporters, if the GB or any other supporter breaks the law then deal with it but you can’t ban a whole section for the actions of a few.
All we ask as Celtic supporters is to be treated with respect & the best possible players on the park to help the team progress in europe & at home.
” Build a team for Europe & the domestic game will take care of itself ” – Mr Jock Stein.

Spot on Monti.
The disgraceful stance of that board is just off the scale and courting disaster which I hope they have to meet head on very soon. They’ve certainly earned it but have never earned the hugely inflated salaries they award themselves from supporters’ hard-earned cash for failiing in their duties to run our club properly instead of holding us back, year in year out. Hatred is a fairly strong word but one I’ve felt for Lawwell for over 15 years as he’s held us back when we should be a competitive force in Europe. Okay, we’re unlikely to win the CL but we’re big enough to get to knock-out stages if we were properly funded and had the right people in critical posts. We haven’t and that’s why we’re where we are now, in chaos. I think Lawwell and Desmond have taken a leaf out of the truly evil Thatcher’s book and decided to confront our fans head on by attacking the GB. Thatcher went for the miners. We know how that panned out! When ANY Celtic supporters group, or indeed any Celtic supporter, is attacked by the tory scum on our board then EVERY Celtic supporter should take it personally and hit back in any/every way we can. Evil happens……..etc.
On another note, you and I had some pretty bad exchanges on here some years back and I most certainly regret my part in it. I’ve really always liked the majority of your comments and I thnk I know where your heart lies so I genuinely hope we can let the past take care of itself and go forward as Celtic supporters should always do. I also truly hope the new Celtic Fans Collective gets a huge amount of backing and proves to be the bit that’s always been missing from our global support, a unified voice with plenty of teeth to go after that shower who drain money from us for doing worse than nothing.
Disheartening at best. I wrote before seeing your finer words and so, so agree. Fortunes lost by those on the gravy train we feed them with. Due to the economics here, I do not expect £100 million players though we have produced some, but the best we can as you say. Hail, Hail!
Can I please ask the moderators to stop snaring comments for no good reason?
I replied positively to your comment, Monti, but it’s disappeared. Almost predictably so!!!
You are picking the bits you like and ignoring the bits you don’t like!
When Jock Stein said this about building the team for Europe, the playing field was much closer to being level!
Even the Great Jock Stein would tell you that today’s world of European football is a billion miles removed from the days of Lisbon, and even Milan!
Respectfully, looking at the World Cup match on Tuesday, as much as anti-Clarke people condemn him, do you honestly believe he has the quality of player to pick from that Willie Ormond, Big Jock himself, even further back to Ian McColl had? Not even close!
We have no nursery system in Scotland and that means our league is a joke!
We used to EXPECT TO QUALIFY. Now we HOPE TO QUALIFY!
The imbalance in today’s game means we are light years away from the days of Big Jock’s day!
He would know this!
So don’t pick and choose to suit your argument! At least see both sides, or there is nothing to discuss!♂️
Not sure what you’re really trying to say here, Joe.
BUT, part of your comment, i.e. “We have no nursery system in Scotland and that means our league is a joke!” would have been a good point to raise at yesterday’s AGM for what Celtic PLC is doing to develop young Scottish talent.
Of course, as that reprehensible prick closed the meeting early, and almost certainly wrongly, you wouldn’t have had a chance to air that.
And not even the Great Jock Stein could be successful in Europe with the bland shit our managers are forced to use due to our stinking faux Director of Football and truly director of everything though he swears he’s not ‘hands on’. Being ‘successful’ in Scotia with the financial clout we’ve got is generally a piece of cake though this year may prove difficult and you can lay all of it at Lawwell’s door and I really hope someone does. The man who threw The Ten!
Trouble is I feel is any quality around Scotland is poached as soon as noticed. And so many lose their way when away from home and loved ones regardless of the financial rewards. Will not happen but moves should be banned until 21 except between their birth or adopted country.
For son of Dermot to say we have performed well in Europe since 2003 is laughable.
A team from the other side of town since then has made a final, gone bust, launched a tribute act and made a final again. A team from a town in the arctic circle the size of Dumbarton made a euro semi last year. Everytime bar once that we have failed to qualify for CL it has been against lower rank teams. For son of Dermot to say Europe is unbridgeable tells you all you need to know. They ain’t even going to try, Ad long as domestically we can benchmark against said tribute act. Utter joke.
The supporters buy the season and match tickets, merch, sky. TNT etc, follow on trains, planes and automobiles, through rain, snow and sun in huge numbers and create their massive wealth they think fit to sit on while the players break down and watch the cream being sold off at massive profit. Yes nearly 20 million spent on Idah and Engels, but they are not exactly Larrson or Lennon are they? I didn’t even celebrate Callum’s fine effort yesterday as the players needed more strength and bite, thank goodness for the efforts of Callum and the threadbare squad. They worked hard but lacked some quality. So more waste with knee jerk reactions on purchases alongside fatal delays. When are the board going, please go, to realise the british couldn’t break us and neither will they. I saw the look of disgust from Nicholson when tennis balls were being pelted in protest. He should be disgusted at himself for letting down the club. Desmond should realise the strength of the Irish more than most. And without fans, we are nothing. We are not as stupid as the board actually are with their constant failures to qualify for european cash cows and when we do, just make up the numbers, an insult to the fans and Jocks wonderful efforts. It must end here. You may not yet see it board due to our money you have banked but “The game is over… the Rebels have won!”
