Confirmation of the games worst kept secret came in a tweet from the club this morning, and my apologies go to anyone following me when I found out,,,.

The official website published their obituary…

Celtic Football Club today announced that Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has decided to retire from his position at the end of June 2021, having held this role for the past 17 years.

And there was much rejoicing.

Peter joined the Club as Chief Executive in 2003 and has since overseen a period of unprecedented success which has delivered 29 trophies to the Club, including 13 league titles, four domestic Trebles and participation in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League on three occasions.

Three occasions, out of seventeen. The year he joined we were in a European final.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell commented: “It has been an enormous privilege to have served the Club and our supporters for more than 17 years – a wonderful honour to have been part of an institution I have loved and supported all my life.

When asked if there would be a Celtic supporter on the board, an idea supported by many, he replied

“we are all Celtic supporters on the board ”

“I will always be very proud of what we have achieved together and it has been a particular privilege to be involved throughout a period in the Club’s history which has brought immense domestic success – as well as so many great European nights at Celtic Park.

In seventeen years, there have been a handful, and a couple of damn good thrashings.

“Everything we have aimed for and achieved has been for everyone associated with the Club. I have greatly valued my involvement with Celtic supporters in Scotland and around the world. In particular, I have appreciated the advice and support offered by all our main supporters groups across Scotland, Ireland and beyond. I would like to thank them all for the passion, support and commitment they continue to bring to Celtic.

And money. don’t forget the money they bring.

“Celtic’s reputation is built on three pillars – success on the field of play, sound business management, and a real and sincere charitable ethos, building on the Club’s founding traditions. My objective has always been to maintain and strengthen all three in order to ensure that the Club is both successful in the short-term and in the long-term, and is handed down to future generations in the best possible condition. In every aspect of our affairs, we have strived to maintain the highest of standards.

Others will judge if he achieved his aims, for me his legacy will always be when he asked for a smoking gun re Resolution 12, and then took the evidence and hid it. Latterly we have seen the re-emergence of the Old firm brand, which forever associates us with the toxicity of Ibrox, both on and off the field.

Some will argue that he prevented Celtic from going down the route that Rangers id, into liquidation. I’m fairly sure that when he applies for his next job, he will not start the interview with ..”well, my last company are still in business ”

“I first discussed the possibility of my retirement with the Chairman last year and we were keen to ensure an orderly handover to a new CEO once we had found the right candidate. Now that the process to select Dominic McKay as my successor is complete, I feel the time is now right to announce my retirement at the end of this season. I believe the Club have identified an excellent successor with the highest integrity who will bring substantial experience and enthusiasm to the role. I wish him every success in the future.

Dominic McKay has a job and a half ahead of him. The first one is to restore trust in the club.

“Dominic will inherit a first-class executive team and a superb group of colleagues. I am grateful to them all for the backing I have received during the past 17 years. I have also owed a great deal to the unstinting guidance and support from Dermot Desmond, someone who has been so fundamental to our success on and off the field. In addition, I thank our present Chairman Ian Bankier, previous Chairmen and board members I have worked with, as well as Neil Lennon and the other five football managers and their backroom teams and, of course, so many great players at Celtic Park across the years who have given me and our supporters so much pleasure through a sustained period of success. I know that they will provide the same unwavering support and help to Dominic as they help to build on our past success.

McKay should be wary of having the board behind him. Far better to have them in front of him where he can see what they are doing.

“It was obvious that the Club would be facing a natural period of transition at the end of this season regardless of any outcomes. Like every Celtic supporter, I am disappointed that, so far, this season has not worked out in the way we all hoped for, despite our best efforts. My goal will be to work with Dominic in order to make changes as smoothly as possible and maintain a focus on continued success on the field of play. Together, our main priority will now be to ensure a seamless transition.

There’s that “celtic supporter ” bit again. and he promises to work with McKay.

He can’t even go in peace.

150 Letting Go Quotes That Will Make You More Peaceful

“It has been a difficult year for everyone in so many ways and I just wanted to take this opportunity once again to wish our supporters well. Even in a period of such adversity, upheaval and uncertainty, which our fans have faced in their own lives and communities, so many supporters have been with us again in such huge numbers. I sincerely thank all those supporters who have stayed with us.

He could have emailed them. Would have taken him five minutes.

“Celtic will always be the biggest and the best club in Scotland and our supporters will always be everything to our success. We need our fans with us to achieve that success.

“While retiring from Celtic in the summer, I will now look forward to other challenges. Inevitably, the role I have occupied also creates pressures and demands which are not always confined to me alone. So, above all, I thank my wife and family for their support and encouragement at all times. We will all continue to support the Club with the same love and passion we always have.”

Support ? Or interfere in ?

Celtic Chairman Ian Bankier said: “On behalf of the Celtic Board of Directors, I would like to thank Peter for his monumental contribution to Celtic and its success during the past 17 years. Peter has given his life to our cause during his term of office, delivering a period of unprecedented success to the Club on and off the field. He will be regarded as a man who has played a pivotal role in our history and we should always respect the huge impact he has had on the Club.

“It is, of course, with great sadness that we have accepted his decision to leave the Club but we understand and appreciate that he considers now is the right time for him to leave and we have been succession planning for this day for some time.

“Peter’s expertise, intelligence and judgement has guided Celtic brilliantly through the past 17 years and as a Chairman, I could not have hoped to work with a more able and skilful Chief Executive – someone with Celtic in his soul, who has had the Club’s best interests at the heart of every decision he has made.

“With Peter’s departure, we must also recognise the huge role he has played in promoting Celtic’s interests at a European football level, particularly through his positions on the European Club Association Board and the most senior UEFA committees. He was elected to these posts entirely on merit, and his work and efforts in this area have been of great benefit, both to Celtic and Scottish football in general.

“I wish Peter and his family nothing but the very best for the future.”

Hopefully, he’s next.

Principal Shareholder Dermot Desmond added: “When Peter told me he was considering retirement, I did my utmost, unsuccessfully, to dissuade him. Celtic Football Club owes a major debt of gratitude to Peter Lawwell, who has made a unique and transformative contribution to our Club. I have been privileged to work with many CEOs and Peter ranks up there with the best of them.

“Over the years, Peter was sought after by many English Premier League clubs, but his love and commitment to the Club and Scotland were more important to him. Since 2003, under Peter’s tutelage, Celtic has achieved incomparable domestic success and the number of trophies is unsurpassed by any other Club in Europe.

“Peter’s expertise and professionalism have been recognised by UEFA where he has been an outstanding contributor, to the benefit of both Celtic and Scottish football. I have had a first-class relationship with Peter over the years, speaking daily and often multiple times daily. The Club and I will miss his wisdom, energy and unwavering devotion to Celtic FC.

I cannot adequately express my thanks and appreciation to Peter for all he has done for Celtic FC.”

Especially today…. which is far and away the best thing he’s ever done.

https://twitter.com/i/status/1355053471737765888

It seems the review carried out by Ross Desmond has reached the same conclusions as the one carried out by fans…

Image

Lawwell failed to challenge the collusion between the SFA and Rangers, which costs millions on revenue for the club.

Lawwell failed to address the resultant concerns of shareholders.

Lawwell failed to protect players from brutal assaults on the ptich by putting pressure on referees who have at the very least encouraged a perception of bias.

Celtic and Scottish football needed him to step up and use his influence to clean the game after the scandals at Ibrox a decade ago. Instead, he’s welcomed them back and allowed the perpetration of the same club myth, and the rebirth of the toxic Old Firm brand.

He had the chance to be remembered as a visionary, a Celtic legend.

Instead….well, there will be much rejoicing….

Just be grateful that big business hasn’t yet come up with a way to make the “common man” pay for the oxygen that we breathe. Celtic won trophies IN SPITE OF Lawwell not because of him.

brought the borrowing down from the MON revolution’ …

Was that the 18 million ‘borrowing’ for Sutton, Hartson & Lennon?

How much money did they make out the run to Seville?

How did Fergus manage to walk away with nearly 60 million clear after 5 year but Peter & DD we’re having kittens for a decade over Martin’s spending?

Don’t swally their shite, pal, Celtic PLC made an absolute fortune during Martin’s time and have only used him as a scapegoat since.

How else do you think they manage to have running costs of 74-84 million a year?

Their crooks one & all and what else do crooks do but rob ye of yer money?

Aye, it’s all smoke & mirrors but of you think there’s gonna be anything OTHER THAN a Masonic led Celtic then it’s YOU that’s missing the point.

Cos see when big Jock said ‘If they (the fans) knew the truth of it they’d burn the place down’ do you know what he meant ..?

He was talking about the rigged game and the Masonic affiliations of all those who ran it.

The dream is over, Chuck.

Even you yourself know that Jock Stein was a Freemason, sure didn’t one of you boiled Bhoys put his lodge and everything up here just a few short years ago to make a point but, incredibly, MISSED THE POINT YOURSELF ..?

*Bould bhoys.

And it was 60 million.

But at least he told us in advance AND gave us a nod and a wink as to how much money was actually going through the club’s coffers year on year.

60 million.

The 31 is revisionist history likely made up by the current board to minimise how much the graft’s worth.

No, he put 9 in and walked with 60.

He made it clear at the time.

And even if it was 40 how come Peter spent the past 17 year squealing about Martin’s spending when the Bunnet could clear 40 mil in 5 year ..?

Never thought of that, huv ye, sodgie?

So that would be
£135 million at todays value that Fergus walked away with.

I often wonder who he was expected to leave it to. It was money earned. If it had all fallen flat, as is happening today, then he would have walked with away with £zero.

If he sold his shares to people like Desmond then surely Celtic didnt lose anything.

If I was selling my house I would hardly leave the money I got for it in a drawer for the new owner to use.

Bingo Master

Amusing analogy, Cole, but I can’t help but add that you’re missing the point.

Fergus didn’t really care who he sold it to, for all his talk.

He had no real choice either way and just wanted out of the Nasonjc fishbowl.

And why wouldn’t he when he’d a stunning 60 million to play with?

I knew it at the time.

He gave us a stadium but he left Tommy & the team in the lurch when we needed his money most.

He probably had no real choice in that either, being that Rangers had to match us for The Nine as it was clear that the European Cup was ours and ours alone, Scottish fitba already being shoved into the rubbish bin even way back then.

UEFA have always hated Celtic with a vengeance for fvckin wae their betting patterns that famous night in Lisbon and they’ve never forgiven us since, all handshakes aside.

What else do you think all those fines were for?

Really really gutted to see you go Peter, i hope you have a really great retirement, thanks for seeing off the 10 in a row, hundreds of millions in CL income, selling our best players whilst not replacing them, thank you also for doing nothing about decades of the club being cheated, thank you for lying to the support & interfering with transfers.
Lastly i want to thank you for breaking the hearts of the Celtic supporters dreams of 10 in a row & as we sit here this morning 23 points behind Sevco….this is what moving on looks like!

Good riddance!

Funkyy

He had a golden opportunity to seize the day and confront the SFA and the cheats at Ibrox and expose them. He had right on his side, he had the law on his side, and he had the evidence in black and white. UEFA would have had to take action….but he shirked his responsibility to Celtic fans and to Scottish football in general. Now instead of being a legend he’ll be remembered as the man who put money before sporting integrity and forever left a stain on Scottish football. When the moment arrives for a man to do what is right or what is convenient, the good man does what is right and the coward does what is convenient. He has shown utter contempt for all Scottish football fans by his evading calling out the cheating by the Ibrox club and the support it was getting from the media…the same media who were celebrating what they believed was Celtic’s imminent demise in the 80’s before the bunnet stepped in. There will never be another chance to clean up Scottish football, all because he turned and looked the other way.

So PL has gone so what targets should his successor set. Will he go near Resolution 11/12, seriously! Will he value the blue pound. The pandemic will effect all our finances, some will have more for a while some a lot less. Independence too will bring financial challenges. The new CEO’s main target will be to sustain Celtic’s finances. He comes with a reputation for eliminating debt, depends on how competently the SRU was managed previously but when I hear about Murrayfield debentures I shiver. My worry is that the support will have to pay a lot more for less.

At long last he’ll be gone, looks like the pressure has finally got to him. (No chance of bringing that retirement date forward Peter? Like today for instance?). Don’t know anything about the new chap McKay but from what I’ve read so far, he seems to have been headhunted by Lawell and the rest of the board – I sincerely hope he at least will have some fresh and progressive ideas while sticking to what he is good at. I hope that the appointment of a proper D o F forms part of the new plan.

Self serving grandiose statements that show they do not understand what a football club or supporter is. Yes he has done well if he was running a sweetie shop with his three pillars, but his achievements in Europe are pathetic. Constantly trying to run the bring them in cheap and sell them on for mega, not great results there Pete.
His arrogance towards his customers and staff over the years says it all, living wage, what’s that, Res 11/12, what’s that, general service towards supporters that raise concerns, nothing to be seen here. Quite sad that when things went belly up and supporters started to demonstrate at Parkhead, a ring of Scotland’s finest were there to confront the fans. During the rebels have won era there was not a fence or a cordon of Police around the stadium
A bean counter, surrounded by clowns on the board, he would do well at the SFA
The only issue is like a bad smell he is sticking around till, June

obz

Great article. Absolutely spot on with the analysis of PLs time at Celtic. His interference in football matters, particularly when Rodgers was here, has seen us regress massively. His failure to hold the SFA to account on Res 11 and 12 has also seen the game regress aswell with one club having a free reign to do whatever they like on and off the pitch with absolutrly no accountability.

Im not sure about you but from 07.20 a.m. this morning I felt more positive about Celtic than I have for most of this season and I am an optimist. I really hope this change and the ones forthcoming, leads to us standing up for ourselves, both on and off the pitch and pushing on in Europe, which is where we should be benchmarking and not in what is proving to be a horrible domestic game ran by and for cheats.

It’s amazing how many people associated with Scot’s Whisky get directorships within Scottish business, thinking of Bankier and his ilk. But we should not pre-judge people we must give Dominic McKay a chance to prove himself TRUST-worthy. His 13 years with Scottish Rugby will have given him an education on how Scottish sport is run. He started with the SRU as director of communications and public affairs, so, that alone is a plus, this will be an improvement itself over Lawwell. He helped to improve the income of the SRU including working with BT Sports and bringing in sponsorships, so his business acumen is substantial and echos to some extent Lawwell’s. But for me the most striking element of his appointment is that he is known as someone who listens and responds to supporters concerns. He has 5-6 months to shadow Lawwell giving him time to bed into his new appointment. If he wants to win the support over he must listen to supporters concerns and to build up….. TRUST.

The relief around Celtic park and the many who care is obvious. Will his replacement be superior? Seasons to come will tell. Pity Lawwell is still around till July, surely the replacement should be in now, along with the new management team, end of July will see the Euro Champs League qualifiers in full swing and we know where Lawwell goes there. Luckily Scotland will have two Euro Champs places next season. 6 months ago I did not see the significance as I saw it as a cash cow for a beleaguered sevco. Now it may be our saving grace. They are already sniffing around for stronger recruits while we sit in the traffic jam listening to Motown tracks. If we have a successful cup run, I guess the management team will lap it up. Hopefully Lawwell and Lenny will leave the showers and slip off into the dark to the Glasgow Airport runway and enjoy the start of a beautiful friendship. Where the next step of the Celtic journey takes us we await in eager anticipation. Euro success and start again to go for the 10 would be the ambition I would hope for. HH!

Peter, goodbye. The less said the better.

Thanks to 67Hail Hail for this (edited):

The BBC have revealed, via a Freedom of Information request, the series of emails between the club and the Government. Originally, a trip was scheduled for Turkey, and the SFA and Celtic sought assurances from Scotland’s governors in regards to the legality of any potential training excursion.

An unnamed Government official said:

“I am pleased to say this is covered.

“Domestic and elite sportspersons can attend elite training overseas in a non-exempt country, and be exempt on return to Scotland.

“This is on the basis that you will be continuing activities as an elite sportsperson operating under the relevant resumption of performance sport guidelines on return to Scotland.”

Photographs emerged of Celtic players and staff drinking together by a pool. That led to Nicola Sturgeon speaking out on January 11:

“I really hope Celtic reflect seriously on this.

“You should be asking yourself whether going to a training camp, and what you do at that training camp, is necessary.”

John Swinney, Deputy First Minister, called Lennon’s defence of the trip “appalling” [Daily Record].

Celtic fans, remember who to trust.

Maybe Celtic’s Dubai trip was almost as appalling as Arfield’s birthday party cover up or the friendly Sevco played without even knowing the results of their own team’s covid testing? Ah, I forgot, Sevco doesn’t seem to have any Covid issues as far as the Scottish Government is concerned. In my long Celtic memory, I don’t think the MIBs have ever been as shameful as they have this year. Their instructions: turn a blind eye to Morelos/try to keep Slippy on side at all times’/make sure that Sevco get that needed penalty with red cards to the opposition. Shameful. Sevco is playing brilliant football and their defence is water-tight but these things are made easier when you know all decisions will go your way, especially in tough games!

Saying that, we have been woeful and the 23 point gap says it all. Even the MIBs can’t be blamed for that! Bring on 2022 with fans back and normal service resumed with fresh and willing players. Cheerie bye Peter, that’s a start.

Correct, Whitearra, the SNP were formed from the Cathcart Tory Party with the specific aim of breaking the Labour Party’s stranglehold on the Scottish vote ‘even if it takes 80 years’.

And just under 80 years it took when the Labour Party marched up Buchanan St with their Tory peers and all of Scotland realised they’d been taken for a ride.

Just a shame they can’t see how much for an even worse ride they’re being taken for now by the sly wee Hun Jimmie Krankie and her mendacious husband Peter Murrell.

Dominic Mckay has got to address res 11/12 as a priority matter, if he has no intention on dealing with this then i am completely done with football.
So Dermot, you better prepare the lad because it isn’t going to go away.
Celtic is a football club that should never be bullied or pushed around, by Sevco, officials or the governing body.
We want an honest game where teams aren’t spending what they can’t afford in order to achieve results on the field of play.
We have no interest in favouritism but it’s vital all clubs are treated fairly, evenly & without bias.
There has been cheating practiced in our game by rangers (IL) for over a decade, it was proven in the highest courts in the land & is there in plain sight for public viewing, yet the new entity are somehow allowed to keep the history of a club that was concluded?
It is allowed to portray itself as the original club, trophies & all history intact, yet almost 250 creditors are left unpaid because this club didn’t pay the bills in order to ” keep up with Celtic “?
Schools, the NHS, hospitals, emergency services & their armed forces denied payments from this club that you & i have to pay.
We had Stuart Regan admit he couldn’t apply the rules to this club or face social unrest in society, look at that last line….they couldn’t implement their own rules!!!
Outwith all of that we have the cheats, the ebt recipients on national television, commenting on the game, the game they have cheated, the fans they cheated in order to receive money they should have declared but didn’t, yet they pass comment on our club in tbeir snidey, misplaced arrogant manner as if they are a name in the game?
Let me tell you bandero, they are known as cheats, they know they stole & they know their medals are worth nothing.
It’s about time somebody lost it with the lot of them.
So Mr McKay, will you pick up the fight or will you let this slide?
Do not fail us, we deserve better & it starts with them, there’s a story there & a fight & it has to be fought.

Strip the titles
strip the trophies
pay the stolen prize money.

Same club? Same history? Same debt then!

You & I and everyone who knows the game knows McKay is just another Masonic placeman like Maxwell, Doncaster, Petrie et al.

The Scottish game is rigged from head to toe in favour of one team, Monti, and the only reason they keep Celtic alive is to keep Scotland divided.

To kill the snake you must cut off its head and as long as Desmond is j charge that snake will keep biting us on the @rse, and in the pocket, forevermore.

This from the soup supping Uncle Tom English proving that all the grubby handshakes in Scottish football have been lodged there forever and will be lodged there until the genuine football supporters of Scotland unite to get rid of them all for good.

I just hope, AH, that you’re correct.
Getting rid of Lawwell for an alternative place-man is materially indifferent.
IMHO, the Celtic support should be active NOW in binning Lawwell, not allowing him to slither out the door in Summer. Snakes are empowered by the summer sun, remember.

Also, what about the SPL bribe in 2012? The “letter” that accompanied the 5/6-way?
It looked like FRAUD to me and still does. How TF can the SPL change its rules to bribe a League and effectively rob shareholders of original huns, and get awasy with it?
Lawwell was party to this. He was sneaky enough to agree with the 6-way (him being 6th) without appending his name.
Whilst I would thank you for all you’ve done, I’d need to question the outcomes versus the info/facts known. A serious defence of ANYTHING is to falsely pursue, and then fail.
It appears a serious challenge has been made, when in FACT it was just a smokescreen.
I hope that is NOT the case. A crowd-funded exploration and the dissemination of known facts, IMHO, would have seen PTL (and many others) jailed.
Of course, I can be easily dismissed as I appear to ‘drink too much’.
If you’ll take the time to clarify things here, I and many supporters would be genuinely grateful. Thank you.
PS If any of this is poorly delivered, I seek consolation as I haven’t got my ‘spes’
I don’t want to disturb my weee diamond’s sleep.

You think the Masons have to make everything public now, sodger blue?

The reason they’ve got away with it is because that’s what secret societies do, they keep secrets.

And when the top legal eagles and men who run the game are all in that society then what better guarantee is there that the secrets will never be open?

Youre really not very good at thinking these things through at all, are you, soldier?

The facts have been disseminated on the Res 12 Archive. You can start at the earliest date or the latest. I suggest the latter. To avoid this post being held under moderation because of links you can Google Resolution 12 Persistence Beats Resistance and when you have done reading the facts tell me what you would have done in the circumstances where the media wouldn’t publish anything from it (having had much of it given to them at various points) and Celtic point blank refusing to act on the facts presented (see for example entries dated 10 August 2018 and 16 Nov 2018 AGM.)

Crowd funding is fine, you and the crowd pay a few bob sit back and watch others take on the responsibility for you, do the work and when that fails blame them. No thanks. At least the approach taken did not cost the crowd that much. The actual cost of legal advice was £11,266 and the majority came from a very small number of individuals who were very understanding when it turned out that when Lawwell said he needed a Doughie Dougie moment to bring SFA reform, guess what? He lied about that too.

Auldheid, thanks for your reply. I know how easy it is to try to do everything you possibly can and have verbal shit thrown at you if the outcome is less than perfect for everyone. I was once a Shop Steward!
My main point is regarding the ‘bribe’ offered to all SPL teams (the Letter of Undertaking I think it was called) which accompanied the 5/6 Way Agreement. I don’t have time to check it just now but you’ll know what I refer to. I would have tried to explore THAT as I believe it’s fraud. Ironically fraud against TRFC PLC (later changed to RFC2012) or, at least their shareholders. Of course, the result could be ‘neclear’ for Scottish Football, but it would certainly require a ‘clear-out’ if/when proven.
I’ll write to the Liquidators and ask them if they are aware of what happened to somewhere around £1 million due as ‘prize money’ for season 2011/12 for the now dead club/company. What do you think of that specifically? You’ll no doubt no a lot more than I do, but I find it all so sickening and don’t think it should be accepted.
Thanks for all you’ve done to date.

The side letter to 5 Way referred to in Doncasters e mail to Lawwell was to Sevco giving them indemnity against deeds by Oldco which makes sense as Sevco are a different legal entity from Oldco. It does reinforce the not the same club idea though.

I’m unsighted on any bribe letter to SPL clubs but in SFA Articles cover obligations to clubs and club obligation to others. Article 5 last time I looked.
Article 5f is the one Rangers should have been charged with for any Commission to judge not failing to register contracts properly.

Auldheid, I refer to wording in the email itself sent by Doncaster on Thursday 26th July 2012 at 9.01 PM. The use of “bribe” was mine, in response to this, as I cannot see how it can be construed as anything else BUT a bribe.
Note this email P1 beginning “Oldco waives….”
and P2 beginning “The attached documents……..”
If you want, send me your Gmail address via Ralph. I DID have it from one of your comments on here/elsewhere in Timland, but I may well have deleted it.

Actually one of the objectives from the moment Celtic said Res12 was unnecessary in their official response to Resolution 12 2013 in the AGM papers and knowing that PL had been provided with enough documents for Celtic to vote for Res12 and pass the matter to UEFA (and I can prove what he had) was to get at the truth.

This has been done thanks to Celtic agreeing to an adjournment that gave the requisitioners the authority to ask questions of the SFA and UEFA (the latter bringing the unexpected response that UEFA did not act on what happened in 2011 as Sevco were a new club/company to them) which has been done by gathering and providing evidence USING the authority PL gave when the adjournment was agreed that allowed investigation.

There is a lot on your list I think in the absence of proof you may be right but on Res12 you haven’t a scooby.

If anyone has been given the run around I suggest it is PL.

On getting a result, I already have, got it the moment PL lied to shareholders at 2019 AGM about his knowledge of the 5WA.

“Like every Celtic supporter, I am disappointed that, so far, this season has not worked out in the way we all hoped for, despite our best efforts.”

“So far”, so in what way does he think this season might still ‘work out in the way we all hoped for’?

Presumably a gargantuan pay-off to cover for missing CL, 10 and 5T bonuses.

For him, maybe, but that’s not what I (and the vast majority of fans, I imagine) was hoping for this season. Obviously, I don’t speak for the ‘silent majority’ so you’ll need to wait for their spokesperson to pontificate.

The new guy doesn’t seem like the revolutionary change that we need and crave but perhaps when “Get thee behind me, Peter” and he takes the full reins, we’ll start to see a forward thinking modern football set-up and leave the damaging lazy, hiding, control-freakery of Lawwell behind.

I read something giving him credit for the Rugger Buggers getting an astonishing £20m ScotGov aid, as opposed to the infinitely larger football sector only getting £30m in comparison.

That looks like good negotiating on behalf of the new guy but is that a false narrative? Most of us would say that middle-class rugby would always be favoured over the oiks who support football and that’s nothing to do with any negotiating skills.

Also, I hope the new guy’s PR background is not a sign of continued denialism “we’re on the right track, simply had 1 bad season, the manager’s good, all this bad press and supporter dissatisfaction is so unfair etc” and ‘The Suits’ have simply hired a turd polisher to get better PR and not to, simply, get better.

You could dissect his farewell speech and tear it to shreds, but what most sticks in my craw is he still thinks he’s one of the fans. Naw Peter, you got extremely well paid for your “love ” of Celtic with the money you TOOK OUT as salary and bonuses, the real fans PUT money INTO Celtic via season tickets, buying merchandise and souvenirs etc.
So don’t give us the shite that you’re a fan…an overpaid fanny more like it. The fans to a man wanted Resolution 12 to be championed by the club because it was just, but you slipped and slid around using the vocabulary and delaying tactics that sneaky bassas always use because they don’t have the balls to spit out the truth. Cost us quality signings with your penny-pinching attitude, except when it comes to your bonus of course. Why don’t you just apply for a job at Ibrox…you’ve done plenty for them haven’t you?
There’s the door, now get tae…

The Celtic way is spectacular from what it was. Peter was a Celtic supporter through and through.
The business guys will miss him.
But we won’t. The supporters clubs like my own who had 75 members when Fergus took over and gave us £10 per member. £750 at the start of a season set us up helped us to help others we weee able to allow the unemployed free travel and entry to the game.
Gave others reduced rail travel cards. With one swoop he stopped it. Told us that the coach park was being build. We emailed him after the coach park was done, to see if he was setting it up again. Of course he didn’t.
This was the real Peter not a fuck given to the grass root supporters.

I would just like to commend myself for ensuring that “Etims”, et cetera, evolved (with promotion) into eTims.
I initially saw the flaw, but just quietly repeated “eTims” in all my comments.
Thankfully that has been recognised (if not personally recognised). That’s okay.
However integrity, when requested/required must be led.
Lawwell would have loved my devotion to detail and fact, but NOT the widespread telling of ‘how it really is’. Just like religion really…….FFS pretend it’s alright but FFS don’t let integrity, honesty get in the way.
I have a nephew whom I love deeply. When we (occasionally) meet up we just buzz off each other, laugh our ‘tits’ off and just enjoy.
The Catholic church would/could have removed him from MY family without remorse.
My own Mum and uncle (a priest) tried to facilitate it.
My father stood proud and told them to fuck off. Without my Dad’s resolve, I’d have missed out on, possibly, my favourite member of my family.
The Catholic church’s involvement, via poisonous nuns, in Ireland and Scotland, reducing young pregnant females into worthless crap, just enforces my belief that ‘religion’ is just a hiding place for twisted, human scum.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

It’s quite right that we berate Peter Lawwell – Bankier – Desmond and the rest of the Celtic Board, but we should always remember that it was Cheating FC and their death that caused Res.12 and the 5Way Agreement. We must also pause and remember the SPL – SFA and the cheating sh!tes that engineered the cheating, Huns one and all, like their colleagues in the Lanarkshire Refereeing masonic fraternity, and all the Huns firmly embedded in the media. Yes, Peter and DD both conspired to rescue the cheats, but first in the que is Hun-co, Cheating FC.

I agree Auldheid. It was Murray’s reckless spending and ambition to do what big Jock did that killed his club. His friends in the governing bodies tried to cover his tracks and save his club, that was was not the Celtic boards fault. If they, the Celtic board had acted to call that/them out, Scottish football would have retained a degree of honesty and we wouldn’t be in this chaotic mess.

Yes, I’ve read both of Stephen O’Donnell’s wonderful books, ‘Tangled Up In Blue’ and McCann Verses Murray, an eye opener to how things evolved over in Poundland, loans from Harland and Wolff and their Non Catholic signing policy, how the two clubs worked together. The past is well recorded, but all the Celtic Board had to do after Old-co died, was to call out the cheating and things might have improved. Thing is, good business men would have seized this opportunity and Celtic would have had unlimited entry into the CL. It was a foolish decision not to call it all out… Just like me being let off the ferm and you oot the nuthoose. 😉

What actual proof did you have? I now suspect Celtic knew that CL money was necessary to keep Rangers alive which might have been the case in 2009 (Fletcher) as well as 2011 (UEFA Licence) but there is no proof. Just a suspicion heightened by their reluctance to to blame Rangers.

Even with proof and that proof set out for all to see on Res12 Archive most supporters didn’t or don’t want to know because accepting it meant a decision to make. Watching Celtic isn’t just about football, for ST holders it is a social event that some folk enjoy as much as the football.

I stopped contributing anything when the proof of fraud in 2011 emerged in 2018 and Celtic did nothing, as they also did when evidence provided in 2014 that the LNS Decision was totally unsound.

It is the sheer scale of the illusion and Celtic’s involvement that is hard to accept and call Scottish Football Plato’s Cave, those in it do not want to know, but some might.

The easy work is mouthing suspicions, the hard work is proving it.

Too late now, Monti. it’s all about control, everything is about total control now.

Why else do you think they have us locked in our homes every day?

All conversation must be screened in case we say anything pertinent to the debate.

Ralph knows but he’s not allowed to tell us.

TicToc, you can’t moan about moderation when it’s heeders like you & Mike that got it put in place in the first instance 🙂

So there you have it bonkers in a nutshell, appoint lawwels successor who hasn’t a clue about football Tick, join Celtic as a midfielder then play at centre back Tick, Attacking midfielders play at left back tick, whats next hire a plumber to do the electrics. WTF is going on, the zombies must think they’re inhaling nitrous oxide on a daily basis

Hire an accountant and make him Director of Football, Tick
Hire a natural born winger and put him at Right Back, Tick
Hire a manger who failed at Bolton, failed at Hibs, and who had previously failed at Celtic, to win us The Ten, Tick
Pay 2 million quid for a hybrid pitch that barely lasted 2 years, Tick
Buy disco lights at costs in excess of another million but fail to buy a PROPER CENTRE HALF since we sold Virgil Van Dijk to Southampton SIX FVCKIN YEARS AGO!
Tick
Claim the disco lights are for ‘All the Champions
League nights’ then fail miserably to even qualify for the Champions League, Tick
Fail to sack the manager who repeatedly fails at CL level in the November when it’s due and still have him in place, looking like he needs urgent medical help, in the last days of January, Tick
‘Mutually Agree’ with the CEO to GTF but keep every robbing Tory Hun scum feeding b@start in place, Tick …

This could become a long running series …

Pay 5 million for a ‘keeper’ who couldnae keep snaw aff a dyke, Tick
Pay anither 5 million for a striker who looks like he has Greggs on speed dial, Tick
Keep said striker on the bench even though he’d gained more weight in January than he arrived with in August, Tick
Set up a ‘Sporting Academy For Excellence’ then hire managers who never give the youngsters a game, Tick
Let said youngsters then get picked up for free by teams like Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Benfica, and various other big hitters across the Continent while the Famous Glasgow Celtic gets humped out the League Cup at home by the cloggers of Ross County, Tick
Win 6 games in 22 yet still keep yer job, Tick
Go to Dubai on a jolly while the entire world is locked inside their homes, Tick
Allow senior players to get so pished they have to be carried up the stair, Tick
Have the manager not onky join in but lead this bevvy session, Tick
Fail to win the first 4 games in January after said jolly, Tick
Refuse to give an apology for the jolly despite all of Scotland foaming at the mouth at your behaviour, Tick
Eventually give a measly mouthed apology that doesn’t really sound like an apology at all but more like a ‘Sorry I got caught’, Tick
Shove the manger knot the media with a bee in his bunnet so he can embarrass himself and the club still further, Tick
Bam The 90 Minute Cynic for asking pertinent football related questions when it’s clear the manger doesn’t really ‘do’ football talk, Tick
Allow the Daily Record, Evening Times, Glasgow Herald and every other Hun loving Scottish & UK paper access to Celtic Park despite them trolling, knocking and lying about our club since their very inception, Tick
Keep quiet about the brutality enacted on oir players on the park every single week, Tick
Never mention the Hun bias of the Rangers supporting referees and how they are still allowed to ref games between their team and Celtic, Tick
Never question the dubious decisions of the refs in these games or any others Tick
But grass Celtic supporters up to the cops when you are not legally bound to do so, Tick
Allow Linfield fans to throw coins, Buckfast bottles, pool balls, golf balls and batteries at Celtic players on the field of play at Windsor Parkwithout one word of complaint to anyone, Tick
Allow the same behaviour to occur at Ibrox in the same week, likewise one word of complaint to either the SFA, SPFL or UEFA, Tick
Allow our talented left winger and Player of The Year to be subject to racist abuse at Ibrox in the same match, Tick
Allow our team captain to be confronted by a vicious aggressive thug also on the field of play at Ibrox without one word of complaint to any relevant authority, Tick
Allow Celtic supporters on their way to the game to be unjustly ‘kettled ‘ by police for no reason whatsoever other than as an example of what the police can, and would, now do to Celtic fans under the fascist OBAF Act, Tick
Fail to complain to government or anyone else about this targeting of the club’s support, Tick

Call the entire Celtic ‘racist’(sic) for their calling out of the disgrace of the millionaire worm that is ‘Lord’ fvckin Living Stone , then Celtic board member, who had that week signed a Bill in Parliament depriving the poorest in society of essential welfare benefits
Tick
Refuse to pay auxiliary staff The Living Wage, a measly 7.50 an hour, for years on end, eventually being beaten to the punch by even Dave King’s Sevco
Tick
Comapli to all and sundry that to pay the Living Wage to the poorest staff would cost ‘the club’ (PLC) “five hundred thousand pounds a year” Tick
Fail to mention that your own wage of One Million Pounds a year is the highest of any staff members, Tick
Fail to mention that you’re in line for a TWO Million Pound Bonus, even if you FAIL to meet your KPIs
Tick
Hire a manager while drunk in the showers at Hampden and ruin the Treble Treble celebrations for almost the entire club support by announcing this just over a half hour after they’ve begun, Tick
Compound your stupidity by telling every football manager on Earth who had applied for the full time position with isn’t your club that you ‘didn’t even bother looking at all the other CVs’ and, presumably, threw them all in the bin, as you’d decided on the cheapest option with your skinflint Hun loving cohorts months prior
Tick
Watch this crass unbelievably entitled level of stupidity come back and bite you on the arse 20months later when you realise your cheap option manager is clueless and no one of any of the prior applicants bothers reapplying to take his place
Tick
Refuse to confirm or deny that Rafa Benitez, André Villas-Boas and other high ranking candidates were among the CVs which you chose to throw in the bin in favour of your by now self evidently clueless cheap option
Tick
Keep John Kennedy in a job as Defensive Coach, then, incredibly, Assistant Manager under no less than FIBE different managers despite him proving to totally inept for the role, or any, indeed, any role, unless he’s serving them from the snack bar with sausages

Monti Barkas said himself that he never wanted to be a keeper, his dream was to be a left back that’s why he probably signed knowing that dizzie rascal pete would pick the team and one day play him at left back as i said bbbbbonkers

Una,
If you look at his performances for AEK Athens, domestically & in Europe for AEK, he has been excellent.
Remember as well David De Gea & Fabian Barthez took their time to settle at Man Utd, Jordan pickford at Everton is another highly rated keeper but seems to regularly drop howlers.
I think our defence has not helped him either with their own brand of slapstick defending.
Who knows pal maybe he is just not going to hack it, i do believe tho that he can & should only be judged after playing say fifteen consecutive games.

He’s lost the plot completely.

Keegan’s 1 minute rant hasn’t a hope against Lennon’s after match season.
