Celtic Diary Tuesday March 3: The Man Who Found Deila ?

A common debate amongst Celtic supporters in recent years has centred around the scouting system. If we sign a dud, it must be John Parks fault, or Peter Lawwells, and if the guy turns out to be brilliant, it was all down to Neil Lennon, or more recently Ronny Deila.

But who spotted Ronny Deila ?

This was the burning question last night, so i decided to ask someone who might know, via Twitter, which is good for that sort of thing.

Chances are (very) slim to none, but I’ll put it out there; Ronny Deila would be a fabulous fit for Celtic and Celtic would suit him great.

 Based on this reply, as far as I am now concerned this is fact, and Christian, who is a keen student of norwegian football now living in Glasgow, deserves all the credit and at the very least a sizeable finders fee from the club.

I asked him what he thought;

” Don’t talk shite , you nutter. And stop harassing me. “

 As the woman in Monty Pythons Life of Brian explained;

 “Only the true Messiah denies his divinity” , which as far as I’m concerned closes the case.

 I put this to christian, who replied :

 ” fuck off. I’m calling the police. “

When I asked Ronny, he was honest enough about it;

If you think about it, all joking aside, Deila came out of nowhere. Not the “nowhere ” that this ” nobody ” came from according to the media, but more of a nowhere as far as any hints about him joining Celtic were concerned.  Which is partly why the press haven’t taken to him, and partly why the impression given is that they can’t wait for him to fail.

 So, in actual fact it probably was Christian who first brought him to the supports attention, and as far as I’m concerned, Lawwell was dithering over the candidates, read that tweet , and made his mind up that moment.

As Derek on twitter posted, a big thank you to him for that.

 Meanwhile, back at the ranch, is it true that back at the start of the season Derek MacInnes was , er, making fun of the bold Ronny at a coaching session ? Could that explain why Ronny seems to enjoy beating Aberdeen more than anyone else ?

 The Scotsman -and a few other papers-claim that Craig Gordon is set to be the target of a summer “swoop ” from Chelsea as the English-or Russian -giants seek to strengthen their squad.

 Aye, okay. They used the word “swoop “, so it must be true. I liked this wee snippet from the Scotsman article;

He [ Gordon } spent time training with former club Hearts as well as being linked with Arsenal, Celtic and Rangers, and helped out with coaching at Dumbarton on a casual basis.

 Note the inclusion of the cash strapped basket case as a serious contender, just to keep their profile high.

Things are going quite well for Celtic just now. Everybody is happy, players, fans, probably even the board. So its time to take those pesky tims down a peg or two.

 Whilst supporters are fully aware that a couple of players might not be here next season, the level of trust in Ronny Deila is so high that the support are probably of the mind that he’ll have a contingency plan in place, if for instance, Virgil van Dijk finds someone who wants him, and Jason Denaayer wants to return to the English Reserve League.

 For instance, if Craig Gordon does go, we’ve already spoken to a replacement;

 Despite being on the verge of an historic first season treble, Ronny has been warned by Andy Walker that he might have a crisis on his hands come the summer.

 Between mouthfuls of soup. walker told Sky Tv;

 “The big question now for Celtic is how well-equipped will they be to go into the Champions League qualifiers. I think the likelihood is that Virgil van Dijk will leave, I think he wants to go, Jason Denayer has said he wants to go back to Manchester City, and I think it’s debatable as to whether Celtic want to keep John Guidetti.

“So I think you are going to see a number of changes, big changes because you have had a centre-half partnership that has been very impressive all season – and if Denayer and Van Dijk go then you are going to gave to get replacements in for the qualifiers which will start in July. The pressure will be on to get the new signings bedded in.

“They don’t want to be recognised as a Europa League side, they want to get back into the Champions league and secure the prestige and the financial rewards that that would bring to allow them to be more competitive at the top level.”

 He’s entitled to his opinion, I suppose, but the big question now is why someone would deem it worth paying for. Just once , it would be nice to see someone in the media allowing us to enjoy the moment without donning a big cape, picking up a scythe and wandering across our screens.

 death

 And hasn’t that guy got work to do elsewhere in the city ?

reaper

 He must have, because the press are starting to enthuse over the next chapter of Toxic FC, as their EGM draws closer, and the possibility of another dodgy owner draws near for the fans to be fleeced by.

 In Scotland , the Sports media falls generally into four classes.

 Theres the credible, such as Jim Spence, Richard Gordon, Ally Begg , then just below them there are the ones who take themselves a little too seriously, Keith Jackson, Roddy Forsyth, Tom English, Graeme Spiers,

 To be fair, all of these have had their moments, but they at least are in the top half of the list.

 Then we have the ” how the hell is he in unsupervised employment ” brigade.

 Matt Lindsay, Chris Graham, Michael Gannon, and Bill Leckie. The latter who was that bad at the Record, he was forced to work for the Sun.

 Below them, of course, is Radio Clyde, which is like listening in at a chimps tea party,  with adverts.

Anyway, back to Leckie, and this is his opinion on the goings on at Ibrox.

Seriously, if Walt Disney was alive he’d have this guy writing the Mickey Mouse cartoons.

There is no doubt that hard times lie ahead for Rangers despite the fact that a new regime is imminent at Ibrox. Nobody should underestimate the task ahead both financially and spiritually.
Rangers urgently need a revamped stadium, Rangers need a revamped squad and Rangers also need a new manager. Add to that, a running capital of some twenty million, you begin to get the picture.
However, despite all of this, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Assuming Dave King is given the green light by the SFA,then the emergency contingency plan that he has already drawn up will swing into action.
King has already earmarked certain priorities, the main one being “Stop Celtic!”. The burly South African has decided that defeat of Rangers’ greatest enemies remains priority number one. Consequently, he has already identified a manager whom he believes has the know how, and with proper funding could defeat Celtic within two years.

Contrary to popular belief, I am told that Kenny McDowell’s successor will not be the much vaunted Billy Davis, but rather Stuart McCall who will cost King a lot of money to wrest him free from his key role within the national team.

King is a determined individual who has pledged his personal fortune to get Rangers back to its rightful position as Scotland’s premier club. The two year deadline may seem narrow, but at the moment the momentum is with the Glasgow born magnate. Chris Graham of the Rangers Supporters’ trust spoke for many Rangers supporters when he said that King’s imminent take over was the harbringer of a new epoch and a brand new day. “I am told that several big investors are already lining up behind Dave King to fund the Rangers rebirth”.

At least he could have had the honesty to put the words “Advertisement Feature ” at the top.

Image result for bullshit

I think he deserves an award, for putting together what is the single most inaccurate article ever to surface in the Scottish Mainstream Media. Which is no mean feat in itself.

 And one can only hope he is a member of BUPA, as the operation to remove his tongue from Kings arse will be expensive.

As you probably saw at the weekend, Hearts beat Cowdenbeath 10-0, which confirms they can indeed handle the heat at the top of the First Division. To be fair, the twenty four point lead they’ve built up is probably another indicator.

 For some reason, I found this funny , posted by Lois, on twitter.

A shellshocked Cowdenbeath fan comes  to terms with the result.

Back to last week now, and after the first Inter game, UEFA are in a spot of bother as Police Scotland have asked them to explain their use of sectarian language in one of their official publications;

 Yesterday saw a moment of happiness frozen in time with the picture of Colin Jackson scoring the third goal in Cetics 4-2 win during the famous ten men game in 1979.

 Tv cameras didn’t record the game, as there was a strike at the time, and since then all home movies of the game have been bought up by a collector, a Mr. Jackson of Glasgow.

 Apparently he pays top dollar.

Which other Scottish clubs did this guy play for ?  Note, clubs.

Top read as per usual Ralph and a few laughs thrown in for good measure too which is always nice.
If Dave King passes the Fit and Proper test then I think we can all safely assume it’s business as usual at the Sweet FA.

Am I right in saying King was on the Rangers Board that sunk Rangers and so therefore breaks AIM Rules for Directors being involved in the same Enterprize within 5 years of it’s demise?

Just asking seem to remember reading that somewhere on Twitter.
@TheClumpany posted it a few weeks ago to the SFA got no response I gather.

I sent one a few years back about a potential way to raise Finances for Marquee signings.
Took about 4 weeks to get a reply but he did and went into detail about my letter.

I reckon he must receive quite a few every week Desi bear with him.

Not sure about AIM rules, but could be in breach of S216 p1-3 of the Insolvency Act 1986 as no leave from court has been granted, or made public (as liquidators, it’s BDO’s responsibility to take action on this).

Sanctions include imprisonment, fine or both (S216 p4) but the greatest one is under S217 of the Act, which says that if an individual is found to be in breach of S216 then they assume personal responsibility for the debts of the wound up company. This represents the best chance the creditors have of getting their money.

If I was a creditor, my email to BDO, instructing the court to take action, would already be typed up, ready to be sent the very second he as announced as director.

Maybe only Paul McConville could have written an article which would clearly lay out the recent goings-on at ibrox.

Not a peep from Ogilvie, Regan and Doncaster about Dave King, not a peep.
Let’s be clear here, Dave King isn’t fit and proper, he is a 41 times convicted criminal!
This is the next chapter of the great lie which was Rangers (IL), in the first chapter it was about writing off over £140,000,000 of debts,starting again but retaining all their ( ‘istory”) of ccourse.
The Dave King chapter is to start funding ( not his own money tho) the next part of the Circus, what we’ll get now from the squint eyed criminal is patter about stopping Celtic, whipping the Huns up into a frenzy and we may even get moonbeams of hotels at Ibrox, translucent roofs and casinos.
What we really want to happen now is for king and his like to pour all the money they can launder, err I mean gather and push for the Champions league trophy, I mean it went well the last time didn’t it?
I take it Dave King will be liable for the big tax case if the appeal goes against them? After all they are the same club right?

So to summarise,
There was once a club called Rangers who were unashamedly sectarian, they cheated the taxpayer, the clubs, the fans and stole money from Celtic and every other club in Scotland.
The SFA gave them a licence for the Champions league in 2011 while Rangers were due the tax man £6m pounds, this was a contravention of the rules.
The Scottish Football Association is a corrupt and complicit organisation.

As the big Lebowski said ” That’s fucked up man “

monti your obviously one of the sychophantic rd fans , who only turn up for big games like inter,and don,t pay to watch shit like dundee when at 1-1 he brought on a defensive midfielder to ensure a draw , not the celtic way , the cheap option out of champions league disgracefully, struggling in a one horse league, we won bty 30 odd point last season, one up front against even shit like hamilton(first win at celtic park for 70 odd years) , get rid in close season .

What sarcasm Deidheid.In any other country good practice would be used by the football authorities, but our mob cannot get into bed with Quatar quick enough, screw decency. They do not know what the word means and do not give a toss for the truth.

Albeit sorry to see Lenny go, I was open to Ronnie being Celtic manager.

Initially my concerns were regarding 4 things, but these have been addressed.

1) So many players coming in on loan
2) Bringing in more low caliber players, just because they were foreign
3) Playing a 4-5-1 at home against domestic opposition
4) The Kris contract situation

this had changed to:

1) Most loanees have been found out – and are only getting used when required
2) Low caliber players are getting the play time (or lack of) they deserve, and good domestic players in
3) Ronnies 4-2-3-1 was getting used as 4-5-1 or a bad 4-3-3, but that is no longer the case, now that the players are leaner in body and mind; in terms of what has to get done in all competitions
4) Commons contract extended

Charie, Paul Murray and King were on the Liquidated board, so AIM will need to look at that.

9 years ago

If King gets on the board (The SFA / SPL won’t find anything wrong with him) and throws money at them (somebody elses money obviously), will they fall foul of FFP rules?
Or is King’s plan to do a new share issue (4th in last 5 years?) thereby fleecing the scum supporters again?
