Spring is here !
The little bunnies will soon be out, flowers will be poking their heads above the ground, cautiously at first , before rising into a full bloom to lighten up our lives.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we’ve found something else to moan about.
It apperas that Ronny deila has changed his mind about Dedryck Boyatas challenge, and doesn’t think it was a penalty after all. Fair enough, we’ve all said or done things in the heat of the moment, realised we are wrong and changed our mind. It takes a lot of balls to admit, especially to a media hell bent on further discrediting you in the eyes of your supporters, so well done Ronny.
Personally, I think Boyata got the rough edge of Ronny’s tongue, so to speak, not for the tackle , but for a couple of other reasons.
Firstly, it’s fairly obvious by the managers reaction that players were told not to put themselves in the position of having to make a last ditch tackle, and even if they were, not to do it, but to stay on their feet. That makes sense, as our honourable match officials will send a Celtic player off for not tieing his shoe laces given the opportunity, so its better not to give them any excuse.
Secondly, if Boyata paused before racing after the Hamilton forward, in the belief that he was offside, even momentarily, then he needs to be taken out of the team and told to write out “I must play to the whistle ” ten thousand times.
Surely thats basic at any level of football ? Then he wouldn’t have been forced into the tackle at all, and we wouldn’t be talking about this today.
Deila was short and to the point;
“I have changed my mind because I have seen it 100 times now.
“ We are going to appeal because he gets a touch on the ball and it’s not a red.
“Having said that I stand by what I said about wanting my players to stay on their feet.
What he really meant was he needs him for tomorrow nights game against Dundee because he doesn’t fancy choosing between Ambrose and Mulgrew to partner Erik Sviatchenko, who must be wondering by now what time the next train back to Midltylland is.
If it wasn’t bizarre enough to see the Daily Record criticising someone for doing an about turn on what they say or think-and there’s no need for me to elaborate on that point-then it got even stranger as Deila got even more detached from reality.
“If anyone supports the players it’s me. I stand behind them and always will.
“But this is about football tactics – it’s nothing against Dedryck. It’s for the whole team. We’ve had too many red cards and I was honest. What’s the problem?
“You can’t fool the supporters. If I say something that isn’t right they will say, ‘He’s doing that to protect things and keep a positive tone’.
I’m fairly sure that the players-at least some of them-would be uncomfortable with Deila standing behind them, as they would no doubt prefer for him to be in front , so they can see what he’s doing. Maybe this fear of disciplinary action is part of the reason that some performances this season have been a little lethargic, lacking in fire and passion….
However, I have to agree with what he says about having too many red cards. But as he has no influence on SFA policy, then thats a matter for the club. Ronny said;
“I don’t know if that prejudice’s the case but I showed that at least I was honest.
“When you see from behind the goal you see he touched the ball.
“Their player was also offside so a couple of things have gone wrong.
“It’s tough for referees making decisions like that but the linesmen should help to
Ronny is fully aware that the SFA/SPFL , if not actively biased against Celtic, are not going to do us any favours. The fixture list every season.with its regular long away trips after important European games shows this, and maybe he could win a few of us over by coming out and saying what he thinks.
I could help here, with a few basic phrases , in English, to get him started…in fact we all could, simply by using the words “cheating ” and “bastard ” with a few others thrown in to pad the sentence out a bit.
Of course, that won’t happen, so maybe the best course of action is, to papraphrase a well known Celtic manager, perhaps we should concentrate on playing so well and scoring so many goals that the referees can’t do anything about it.
Spring is a time for optimism, I suppose.
Tom Rogic has denied he is stalling on a new contract, and he’s backed up by the manager who says talks are ongoing.
The manager says that Rogic, along with Forrest , the other contract rebel, must work harder to get back into the team.
And Rogic says’
Which in no way reads like he’s been handed it to read….
This isn’t about whether or not we think either of the players deserves a new contract. This is about other players, either at the club or considering coming to the club, seeing how they are being treated. Its a lack of management skills from both Lawwell and Deila.
But then again, one is a coach and the other is an accountant. We don’t have a manager as such, but we did bring in Carlton Cole to cheer everyone up. So far, he’s taken a few lads to a bar in London and forgotten to pay the bill. So the papers said , anyway.
Meanwhile, Nadir Cifti is about to implode over in Turkey, where so far it appears he is alternating between being sent off and being pulled off,
which is no way to look after your assets.
So far, this season at least, its hard to find a decision made by the club which looks at the players as , well, players, and thats going to lead to problems further down the line.
If it isn’t already.
Spring, of course, is a time for optimism. Like the perpetual same club myth, perhaps if I repeat it often enough, someone will believe me.
One of the more bizarre stories concerning ex Celts appeared overnight on the interweb…
Former Celtic midfielder Evander Sno will appear in court next week on charges of attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault, according to reports in the Netherlands.
The Dutch player, along with two family members, are accused of badly beating up two other people.
The severity of the alleged attack on one of the victims was such that prosecutors are pursuing an attempted murder charge.
Theres very little detail on the incident, but Sno, who speaks English like a public schoolboy, is polite and reserved when you meet him, is clearly on a massive downward spiral. A few years ago he suffered a second heart attack while playing for Nijmegan against Feyenoord.
At the time, Feyenoord doctor Casper van Eijck said;
‘Evander had a cardiac arrest which was followed by a shock from his internal defibrillator.
‘And the shock is what he felt and that terrified him, which I could see in his eyes on the pitch.
‘He was transported to a hospital because the defibrillator caused arrhythmia (abnormal heart beat) so he has to stay there for the night.’
I think the guy needs help.and I hope he gets it.
And now, a caption competition, on account of everyone ignoring yesterdays…
One more word on yesterdays diary. The replies were a delight to read. Interesting, even informative and thought provoking.
See, spring is all about optimism.
DEILA OUT!
No respect.
But calling someone a clownshoe oozes respect!!
Merely pointing out the rank hypocrisy of Monti and his ilk (namely you)
Seems like your troubled plum. Do you have feelings for the manager? People not allowed to demand his removal?
Bgbhoy,
I think he doesn’t like me which is fair enough, anyway, you still coming over tonight after ‘ Tom and Jerry ‘? 🙂
It’s not about liking you, but rather you and your ‘trolling buddies’ offer zero input to this blog about and regards to ‘FOOTBALL’. You seem to think that your ‘OPINION’ is ‘FACT’, when all it is, is your opinion. No better and no worse that other peoples opinions and in the ‘great scheme of things’ you are not going to ‘win any friends and influence people’, with your ‘lowbrow’ output. Only ‘MY’ opinion. HH
Schoosh,
I think you will find the majority on here quite enjoy my special brand of talking shite, if you don’t then that is a pity.
I enjoy your posts though Schoosh, I have to say!
Same rules apply. People not allowed to question the tripe that you spew all over here daily?
“Tripe”? ” Spew “?
A bit harsh there old boy.
Oh dear, he’s at it again….
You’re a joke figure Monti.
“Leicester aren’t a counter-attacking team”
Showed with that one comment that you know NOTHING about fitba and are just an auld beeler with no insight.
Plum,
Ssshhhhhh I’m watching Mastermind…..you guessed it, you aren’t appearing!
Plum,
Are you telling me Leicester City, who currently sit top of arguably the strongest league in European football, are there because they take to the field and sit back?
Ho ho ho ho!!!!
You won’t to take me on at football knowledge plum?
Go on……
Monti
Leicester play on the counter they rely on the pace up front.
Noticed he altered them to a 3-5-2 in the last game.
AH ALTER your tactics, thats too complicated it will never catch on,well not here anyway.
Bucksake, after Ralph last couple of sentence re decent comment we’re BOOM straight in aboot each other already. As ma wee maw wid say.. dearie dearie me !!!
Bondi is your wee maw maw Broon?
Naw, but she had the same amount of weans!

Devoy,
The sad fact is Deila chose to criticise his own player, something a manager shouldn’t do, to say he watched the incident again and still agree with sending off was ridiculous, to change his mind completely a day or two later isn’t brave, it’s called making a cunt of yourself, the players and the fans.
He should have ripped Thompson to fucking shreds in his interview and the media, put pressure on the refs not your own player.
He got it wrong, but then I suppose he’s still learning….. :/
So the manager has admitted the 12 red cards In 18 months are his fault due to his tactics. So why did he bother slating boyata in public? Change your mind much Ronny? You in control of the situation here??
Still can’t find the bit in the above article there Ronny admits the red cards are his fault.
Have you ever changed your mind about something?
Ralph, your diaries are always a great read, pictures are too,it seems to me that the club is crying out for a Director of Fitba. The scouting teams provide the info.the director an ex fitba player could have the last word along with the Coach on who we sign, clearly within our budget. This will reduce the number of dud players we sign(there is a massive list of them).I firmly believe that this can have a positive impact on both the quality and wastage of the players we sign.
That pic just reminded me of that wee terrace ditty..

I have an issue with post match interviews always have done.
The TV people insist that Managers and players do these interviews shortly after games concluded because they know that emotions are normally running at a high be that positively or negatively and it makes better telly when they do as they tend to get less scripted answers or controlled reactions.
I think they should wait about 45 minutes before facing the media this gives them time to calm down and assess any contentious incidents before making comment.
I also feel that referees should be made to do a post match interview after games after having a chance to look at these same incidents a few times.
This would go a long way to clearing up any thoughts of collusion or whatever?
Deila got it wrong on Boyata but at least he’s been man enough to admit that.
He is still spot on about last ditch tackles when the defender is last man the risks are not worth taking.
With 11 men that game was there for the taking.
Losing a goal at worse would not have altered the fact we had controlled it up to the point of the red.
That red as with Ambrose red previous totally changed the game.
Deila is correct to implore them not to stay on their feet and jockey.
Agreed
Bwian eh?
Blessed are the meek….:)
Wodewick wiwl sway you down monti…
Class!
” So, you are a wroman”?
” No, No a Roman ” 🙂
BG,
clownshoe cut me to the core yesterday, still trying to recover.
Charlie, I agree with everything you said in last post, but would point out, that sadly RD continues to come out with statements days after game, today, its important for LG to keep taking penaltys when hes missed 5 from 9 WHY??, when we have others on the park capable? he also admits today that the red card tally is his fault, is it, the u turn on boyatas red card has been seized upon, putting him in the spotlight once gain, he should have shut his mouth, rolled out the usual excuses, then made a judgement
would have been a whole lot better for all concerned
The red card U Turn has been seized upon by a paper that 4 year ago declared..
:large
Got to agree with Charlie Saiz regarding after match interviews.
But I still think the PR department at Celtic Park are not doing their job properly they should be advising RD at every interview and telling him everything he says is going to be twisted to make him and Celtic look bad.
I would not venture past 4 answers if I was Ronny.
Yes
No
Maybe
Goodbye
‘ Tiocfaidharla ‘ should be added to that list 🙂
and “remember that time Ranjurs died”?
Make it 5.
No seriously Ronny you better make it 5 😉
1. My angle was not good, I haven’t had a chance to see any replays.
2. Respect has to go (insert opposition) they made it very difficult for us.
3. It is never easy to make these types of decisions A. It’s a good problem to have. B. but they do a difficult job.
4. He played brilliantly and that’s what he is capable of.
Torrance I have to ask wtf is a clownshoe ? I could feel your pain from Plums witty and cutting remarks 🙂
Btw Ronnie seems pathologically incapable of just shutting the f### up but your are right that is exactly what he should have done.
Maryhillbhoy,
I just went into a branch of Clarke’s shoes on Princes St, and asked for a pair of clown shoes….
She said Efe has just taken the last pair 🙂

Charlie,
what you expect from a level 5 driven mouthpiece for the GASL and his bunch of thugs thieves and liars, par for the course, would just hope that RD learns and as you say, says fuck all from now on, take he spotlight off , concentrate on getting over the line, winning a scottish cup then he can talk all he likes, he would have earned that.

caption,
the casino and the floating pitch are under here somewhere.
sir minty moonbeams
I did not see the red card incident which means that I am very qualified to comment on it!
IMHO rule 1 in a situation like this is support your player. Failure to do this will only affect his confidence; criticizing the player publically will certainly sap confidence or lead to disaffection.
RD may think he is showing fairness in supporting the ref’s decision but “fairness” is a two way process. The refs have to exhibit fairness to us. Does this happen? Do ref apply the rules fairly to Celtic and our opponents on the field.
If this is blatantly not happening then RD should not validate a controversial decision.
RD does not emerge from this with his credibility intact.

I hope the players know that they are in for a tough game tomorrow night, Dundee are a funny side, bit inconsistent at times but that is to be expected.
Hemming and Stewart know their way to goal, which is a worry because our defence is trying to re-enact the original ‘ Sieve ‘ from the early 90’s.
Get at Dundee from the first whistle and don’t take your foot of the gas.
Prediction: ( with Ambrose) Celtic 3 Dundee 4
(without Ambrose) Celtic 3 Dundee 0
Why always Effe? when there are 5/6 that are rubbish every game Monti, yes there have been quite a few ricks but the ghuy is an internationalist wih a “rated” country where he is surrounded by good players physical/fast players not a bunch losers.

So the media say Rogic has refused to sign a new contract, the player himself, the manager and the club all say he hasn’t – yet you choose to believe the media?
Time to stop and have a wee think about how, as a Celtic supporter, you are being manipulated and just be a bit smarter.
One thing we all agree on is that the PR department at the ground is woeful, but spare a thought for a moment about the PA announcer at the Blackpool v Bradford match at the weekend…
Apparently Blackpool played a track called ‘ we didn’t start the fire ‘ before their game against Bradford.

Monti spot on about Dundee lets get into them Hartley style or 93 minutes. Can we avoid the homophobia we are better than that.
The media are out to get RD, it is one thing for paying customers but those bastards just want destabilise us to help the Tribute Act next season.
Sorry the homophobia wasn’t directed at you Monti but ay a few comments songs.
Quite right, this is no place for Homophobia 🙂
Caption competition: You liked how I kicked that…. look at these.
Fair play to you Ronny for trying to be honest, then after seeing it from all angles you were honest and brave enough to admit you called it wrong knowing monti and his like would be laughing there heeds aff slagging you….pure pitiful and they think they are good cellic supporters as well..TROLLERS. Wee Martin thinks that this season has not been our best he has witnessed, along with friends of his who go to the games.
He also believes that Lawwell has a lot to answer for and that our current manager is not up to the task of being a Celtic Manager. He would like Ronnie removed and Neil Francis Lennon brought back or at least someone in his mould to ensure that the team currently playing out of Ibrox are kept where they belong.
Hope this helps Monti
