Celtic Diary Saturday October 17: Players React To Ross County Win

Before I start rambling, there were quite a few replies to yesterdays articles which needed to be approved, that’s all been done now, so the debates are even better.

Sort of.

Oh, and thanks for the good wishes for the dug. He’s been confirmed as having cushing’s syndrome, which is treatable, the lump we need to wait and see. By the way, the tablets are £100 a month, but covered by insurance. All I need to do is work out how to fool him into eating them. I tried putting them inside a pork pie, which he ate, but then spat out the tablets, with a look on his face similar to what you get when someone tells you Rangers didn’t die.

some work to be done there, I fear.

Ach,  after all, there’s no such thing as a bad dog.

As they say in Korea, there’s just bad cooks.

With aberdeen faltering last night in a 2-0 defeat to ros County, Celtic can reclaim their rightful place at the top of the league. a draw, or better will see the Celts overhaul the Dons, who have now lost their last three league games.

jolly happy

Derek McInnes, who was the centre of controversy when Ladbrokes had him favourite to be the next to lose his job, must be wishing he’d popped into the bookies before they suspended betting.

Anyway, we hear that Police Scotland want a word with him in connection with what could be another monumental fraud case to hit the Scottish game…

And the support ?

They just can’t watch anymore;

All of this puts a spring in the step of the average Tim who will be heading into Lanarkshire today.

Not as big as the spring in the ever affable Efe Ambrose’s stride though.

We have to be a unit, be a block, and once we are like I think we will be unstoppable Right now we have not got to the level we can get to. We have had some new players in but once the team is in its stride I think no-one can stop us.

“The way we play – keeping possession, pressing high, trying to put teams under pressure – we have been playing good for a long time but we have to work on some set pieces that our manager has put our attention on.

“We are still in four competitions so we will try to do something new – we can win the Treble or to reach the later stages of the Europa League.

“There is a lot of talent in this squad and, if everyone is playing to their best, then I don’t know how the gaffer can pick his team. It will give him a good headache. We are all fighting for places and that will help the team a lot.”

Either the man has nerves of steel, or he doesn’t quite get the fear that supporters get on some occasions when he is in possession of the ball. Or not in possession, come to think of it.

“I never think about that because I always have belief in myself. The best way to fight criticism is to deal with it and stay strong.

“You don’t run away from it – you face it and I have a manager who really believes in my ability.”

So much so that there’s a little noose in his living room for every time Efe makes an arse of it.

There’s a few players missing today. Long term casulaties Charlie Mulgrew and that Croatian kid, whatever his name is, are still injured. so is Scott Allan, in fact nearly everyone is moaning about something.

Expect something along the lines of Gordon, Janko, Boyata, Ambrose, Izaguirre, Armstrong, Biton, Commons, Rogic Mackay Steven Ciftci.

Motherwell fans who have accepted that Mark McGhee is back as manager after his scintillating spell with the national team will be watching more in hope than expectation, which is the effect McGhee has on teams, and don’t expect too much of the new manager bounce that sometimes happens when a new man comes in.

Motherwell will start with a goalkeeper, nine defenders and Keith Lasley to do the fouls.

Without actually saying so, and using far more diplomatic language than is necessary, Ronny Deila agrees.

They will always be up for playing Celtic but they will have even more energy now,”

Playing ? Surely he meant “kicking ”

“When a new manager comes in people get excited and it is not easy for us to understand totally what they will be doing.

I think we’ve got a reasonable idea ….

“There will be some differences but again, we have to concentrate on getting a very good performance ourselves and, if we do, then we know we are capable of beating Motherwell.

“We want improvement, individually and as a team. We know we have skills to win trophies and that’s what we want to do. But there is a long way to go and there is so much hard work going into this period and through the whole year.

“We need to develop ourselves and if we do that well we have a good chance to have a good season.”

Elsewhere, the first day of the trial of the Magnficent Seven

began in Edinburgh.

There are a lot of reporting restrictions on the case, but James Doleman did manage to summarise the charges;

Five people appeared in court in Edinburgh today,  Craig Whyte, David Grier, David Whitehouse, Paul Clark and Charles Green. For legal reasons we cannot report the bulk of proceedings but can summarise the charges as they stand at the moment.

The indictment read to the court is 20 pages long but can be broken down to three sections. The first set of charges relate to allegations that Craig Whyte fraudulently acquired Rangers Football Club (RFC) by concealing the fact he was funding his takeover using money borrowed from “Ticketus” (Octopus investments) instead claiming to various bodies that he was using his own personal wealth. He also committed fraud by not disclosing he had been previously banned from being a company director. David Grier David Whitehouse and Paul Clark are charged with conspiring in this alleged fraud to the sum of £28,262,094 with Whitehouse and Clark also accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice by not disclosing information to a court.

The second set of charges relate to allegations of a conspiracy between Whyte, Whitehouse, Clark and Charles Green to place RFC in administration and then, after appointing Duff and Phelps as administrators acquiring the assets of the business for a sum significantly below the market value using a company, Sevco 5088 as a vehicle. This, the prosecution say deprived the company’s creditors of money that should have been due to them. Greens consortium, the Crown said, paid Duff and Phelps a £200,000 “exclusivity fee,” of which £137,500 of which was refunded by Craig Whyte. Green is also charged with misleading investors and others about Whyte’s role in the transaction.

The third set of charges relate to Green transferring the assets of the club to a new entity “Sevco Scotland Ltd,” hence taking possession of a “non-cash asset” without the approval of the directors of Sevco 5088. This also deprived investors in Sevco 5088 of a financial benefit and later led to inviting the public to invest in shares at an Initial Public Offering while depriving them of pertinent information, ie the potential claim of Sevco 5088 on the company.

No pleas or declarations can be reported. The case continues.

Well, we’ll just have to wait and see. No doubt the media will keep us informed with the facts.

Supporters of the old club, who think it didn’t die,  face another battle against reality when they try to get to the game using the new system designed to cut down on travel costs.

Right, I’m a remarkable fifty years old today, and intend to take it out on my liver. Well, if those tablets work for the dog I can always try a couple in the morn if I overdo it.

Artur Boruc was the man struggling with an outbreak of hair on his face in yesterdays picture.

And who’s this ?

What do I win?

The bet I should have made on my 50th.

I was 50 on 25th of August 2007.

We played hearts at home that day and I had an idea for a daft bet (I’m not usually the netting type).
If I’d met my mate Joe he’d have gone halfers £25 each on a £50 bet.
Bet was to be £50 to win 5-0 with Nakamura (no 25) as first goal scorer.
Yep, it came up and I didn’t put it on.

Looks like Enrico Annoni to me. You can add him to the list:

Wade Biggins
Tony Cascarino
Gary Gillespie
Carl Muggleton
Jaurez?
Juninho
Raphael Scheide
Stuart Slater
Glen Loovens
Hooiveld

etc. bluidy etc.

If it’s not Annoni, then it might be Alexei Sayle on the ‘fat dug’ diet:three hard boiled eggs, a bottle of whisky, and a fat dug.
What’s the fat dug for?

To feed the eggs to.

The dug? Good news. Try putting the pill into something small, that can be wolfed down in one gulp. It worked for my dog.

Happy Birthday!

Annoni is the man in the pic always liked him

Hope all will be good with the dog, have you tried crushing up the pills into his food?

it was good seeing the Sheep get beat, but I think it would be better for us to have someone snapping at our heels to keep the team on their toes. That’s not Lasley snapping heels by the way. Hoping for a good win today, not bothered about a high score I would just like to see them control the game, no stupid mistakes!

Happy birthday Ralph. When my wee dug was sick I held his mouth open and my wife stuck the tablets down his throat with her fingers. Not very nice but got the job done…the dug died! I since bought another dug, called it the old ones name, gave it the old ones kennel and jacket, so what’s the difference??

I bet Muir is sick as feck, despite his best efforts we won and are back at the top. Cheating bassa.

2 stonewall penalties denied and despite the fuckers best efforts’ we still won’ GIRFUY !

Sorry Jim, I’ve had a couple and have plagiarised your comment !! 🙂

No bother Stu. Just heading out to the shop to get my cargo in for tonight. Was on the TSFM earlier with my opinion on Scottish refs. But you’ve got be a lot more polite on there. Whereas here we can call the likes of Muir a cheating shite bag. He was one of the bastirts involved in the ICT game.

Afternoon all. Ralph, my previous dog (Lassie..original eh?)loved Milky Ways; so when I had to give her tablets I broke a piece off the Milky Way and squeezed the tablet inside it. I did this for however many tablets she had to take…never had a problem or a struggle getting her to take them. If your dog has a favourite treat (hopefully not a hard boiled egg) you can do it this way too.
Back to the match…crossbar hit, two penalties denied, almost total domination and the best word they can say about as is “Celtic get simple victory…”
I guess that means sevco will get a “simple” liquidation soon.
Talking of them..I see they got a last minute penalty against QOS and won 2-1. Now where have I seen that movie before?

Thinking of Annoni made me think of something I call the ‘Scheidt Eleven.’ Signings definitely not of the marquee type Charlie Saiz is talking about elsewhere.

Here’s mine (spoiled for choice)

Dmitri Kharin
Enrico Annoni/Du Wei/Scheidt/Regi Blinker
Juarez?/Willo Flood/Juninho/Boerrichte
Stuart Slater/Tony Cascarino

subs: Gary Gillespie, Mo Camara,Bangura,Muggleton,Gravesen,Wright

Maybe you bhoys can add some more? I’ve forgotten our/that Swedish goalkeeper’s name

Younrally have to hand it to Craig Whyte.

He kills the Huns then pitches up in court with the tall, leggy companion at his side.

When (if) i grow up, I wanna be Craig Whyte.

Ah Monti, sweet memories—NOT. The conveyor belt of ‘talent’ to Parkhead continues. Thanks for the Hedman reminder. Didn’t Andy Peyton score quite a few goals for us?
Whoever scouted Larsson for us should be given a medal. That’s a signing who became ‘marquee’ but with us. The best player I’ve seen at Celtic in the last twenty years, easily— and one our best of all-time. I rate him better than Dalglish.

Monti

Dalglish was before my time m8, Larsson was simply world class and a true talisman.
Having read, viewed footage and listened to all and sundry in the game about Dalglish, I would say Dalglish was better than Henrik.

What a strike partnership that would be though.
