What Would You Ask……Dermot Desmond ?

Assuming you can find him, and assuming he doesn’t tell you to do one.

And , of course, assuming you would get an answer that you would be satisfied with ?

For instance, can he see how disgruntled the support is with the way things are going at Celtic ?

And if so, what does he intend to do about it at the AGM in November ?

If indeed, he plans to turn up this year.

I would have to ask him why it took him so long to have another hit record after… “The Israelites”.
I would also have to ask him….
Why does he bother owning the Club….?
It seems to way down his list of priorities.

He doesn’t own the club. We do.

I would ask Mr Desmond why in these prosperous times are we not offering a living wage to all staff who have all contributed to our club.

Reply to  stevieki80

Because the staff are mostly pt time and we pay what other companies pay. Attendee’s at games down it would be stupid to pay more. Do u run any buisnesss

What the fuck has part time got to do with it and what a dick you sound with the retort ‘do you run a business’

Morto

Reply to  andy bhoy

Agreed. What’s the point of claiming to be “more than a club” if that’s how we treat the staff particularly given our charitable roots.
Put £1 on every ticket cost is the issue, I’m sure the majority of supporters would back that.

Tony Paterson

What difference does it make if they are part time? And why should we be doing what other companies do? We are not a faceless organisation of tax-dodging slave drivers like Starbucks or McDonalds. We are Celtic and should set far higher social, economic and moral standards than others, and take care of those who serve us.

Dan the Man

Reply to  Tony Paterson

Why? Because we are Celtic? Why? Is it the moral argument? Or one upmanship? Celtic are a business like any other are the people you are speaking for asking for the living wage? Did they agree to work for an agreed level of pay when appointed ?
Why is this not a major political issue when you vote in the next Government will you be pressing them forcibly to give the living wage to all workers on Minimum wage? This is the route to take for fairness for all not just those working for Celtic .

It’s a major political issue for the SSP, who i am voting for. Don’t know about other parties.

You think Celtic is a business like any other? If you do, then it’s clear why you don’t understand the issue here.

I’d ask old Dermot if he ever considered using wax on his moustache?

I’d also ask, whilst the “stand alone business policy” that Lawwell talks about (buying cheap, selling big and qualifying for the Champions League) can reap rewards, what is the plan if we endure another start to the season like this and fail to qualify for the Champions League next season?
If we fail to receive high offers for our players to plug the money gap, what is the plan?
Where, on a footballing and financial platform does he see Celtic, simply doing enough to win the league and possibly qualifying for Europe or progressing beyond that ideal?
And if we are to progress, how will he help the team achieve that?

The truth is out there

I would take Dermot Desmond every time over mike ashley however , he must realise through the attendance figures that the support in General is not happy with the way the club is going , we are becoming complacent, what plans have we in place to attempt a 10 in a row or are we stuttering from season to season doing the least as possible to get by?

Does he need a caddy anytime soon?

Monti

My question to the bold Dermot would be…..Mr. Desmond, Celtic park is regularly half full, we are selling our best players and ‘ replacing ‘ them with poor imitations, you have appointed a nobody as a manager and the product on the park is well below the standard required for the team, club and fans.
Do you feel you are pushing the boat out for the fans?
Do you care?

Spot on!!! Exactly what I was going to say , only thing I would have added ‘ celtic fans are truly champions league quality , so much so if it was up to them we would win it hands down for the best fans ever , can you reward that dermot ? Give the same commitment in the team as the fans have always done . Not every pound in merchandise is put stright back into the team that we are constantly told

and is he really pleased with the ongoing downsizing-if yes then why???? if not then what does he plan to do about it?..and is he pleased with the performance of our scouts recently ?..[for example-pukki-boriggter-baldie]

I would ask Mr Desmond how concerned he was at his current board & PLC board’s actions, which despite making them a potentially viable asset for buying, is sucking the lifeblood out of the fans which in turn is making the matchday experience harder to enjoy, which in turn is lessening the numbers who are prepared to spend on average £100 a weekend to watch utter gash.

Dermot,I have 3 Q’s,2 are serious, the other one is more light-hearted,about one of your favourite pastimes.
1)Was Lenny told, through Lawwell, that he could get his 5M striker,as long as Fraser and Virgil were sold first ?
2)Dermot,your love for Celtic is unquestionable, why not provide
our club with a 50M interest free loan, payable over 25 years,at 2M ? By front loading the fans get CL football they deserve, and the ’10’could be a reward, that every Celtic fan desires so much.
3)It has been alleged,Dermot, that on European away games, you
can be seen, in the ‘ finest ‘ brothels, that these places have to offer. Is this true ?

Q Can you give me a 20 year loan of £55m Dermot at a fixed rate of 1.5%?

A Yes

Brilliant now get to fuck and let me show you how to run a successful Football Club.
If you need me I shall be at Celtic Park everyday.

All dead wood, sub standard and injury prone out the fucking door Asap.
Shut down the Youth set up below U17 level and concentrate solely on players you know are looking likely to make the grade.
Shut down the Womens Team it’s a pointless exercise.
Contact the Co-Op clear the existing Loans thus wiping out at least £2m in Interest left to pay.
Use that money to pay a Living wage for any staff under the threshhold.
Offer free tickets to Schools around the area and fill the seasts with young fans or potential fans who cannot afford to watch games but would cherish the experience.

Get rid of the Bonus Culture at the Club and bring in Investors with only a vested Interest in Celtic and not making money.
They have money why the fuck do they need more?
Those not Interested then ask them to leave give them the option to sell their shares at a decent level.

Run the Club with a manageable Debt and keep the fans informed about everything from Transfer dealings to general running of the Club.

Dermot Desmond is the majority shareholder of course but that doesn’t mean he owns the club. He owns a part of the club. He, as majority shareholder, has a substantial interest and has a say in the running of Celtic, but one which is democratically voted on each year, by us the fans. Just because he has put more money in than the rest of us and has risked a lot more than us, surely doesn’t give us the right to blame him for all the problems that we perceive. I don’t want to sound pompous but he has put his money where his mouth is and doesn’t need to defend himself from anyone.

Dermot – Did you really offer Roy Keane a job with his tea or did he mishear you just offering him a hob-nob?

If it was a job, were you aware of all Peters clauses which Keane ultimately rejected?

We know you owned London City Airport, but did you ever see Dion Dublins helicopter?

Why can’t you offer tickets to the unemployed at a cut rate price i.e. £5 per game?
Instead of continually telling us that you have taken £100 off the ST price, admit that the price was too expensive in the first place, the new (reduced) price is still too expensive and that you will address that once all the club’s debt has been cleared.
Can you explain why last year’s league game at CP against Aberdeen was £28 for a ticket, yet the cup game against Aberdeen at CP was only £15?

I am putting a tenner on the Euro Lottery today.
If I by a stroke of extreme luck mange to scoop the £111million mark my words there would be big changes at Celtic Park.
I would buy the current incumbents out control a 51% share of the Club and sell the rest to the Support or Investors who are genuine Supporters of Celtic with money to make a difference.

I would change the ethos of the current Board from a purely financially driven model to a Footballing Model with sound Financial thinking.

We have a 60,000 all seater Stadium already in place.
We know that Stadium will be filled most weeks if the team on the Pitch is worth the gate money.
I would build a side designed to survive at Champions League Level year in year out not one that goes into Qualifiers on a wing and a prayer.
I would scout the very best Scotland has to offer guys like Craig Gordon when he emerged at Hearts, guys like Mackay Steven who will no doubt head South from United to some no mark outfit and disappear like so many others into mediocrity 10 years from now.
Young blood like Ryan Gauld and James McCarthy who for whatever reason slipped through the Celtic Nets at a young age.
Go in offer proper Money to the parent Clubs see them right and keep good relationships with all the other Clubs around us.
Offer them our bhoys who aren’t quite making the grade at Celtic as part exchange so their sides don’t suffer a serious blow to their aspirations.
There would be no Bonus Culture at a Celtic I ran it would be everything our Club should be.
I dread to think how much money has been made and taken out of Celtic by these so called “Celtic Men”?
It must have run into the 10’s of millions since the Share Offer 20 years ago?
That money should have been invested back into the Team, onto the Pitch where we should have benefited from the extra quality.

Guys like Finbogasson should have been attainable for a regular Champions League side like ours that’s the sort of standard that should be the norm at Celtic.
I would ensure at least 2 signings of significant standard per Year coming in ensuring a constant improvement in standards in all areas of the Pitch.

Why Mr Desmond has not ensured this has been the case is beyond me but I thinkbeing head shed at Celtic is merely a title he can show off at the local Club House with his well heeled pals.
Peter Lawwell has done a good job at Celtic but he has in my opinion been overpaid for it.
His Bonus is disgusting considering the fact we have under performed recently.

More could be done at Celtic regarding revenue I think home Tournaments in Pre Season bring in some big names over the 4 or 5 weeks reward the support with cheap entry to see some of the best from around the globe.
Rather than sending our squad allover the globe playing pointless friendlies in substandard grounds.
They all say they love Celtic Park on the Big night well then lets get them in in the Summer make it a festival atmosphere.

This mob have taken us as far as they can now Bhoys the bottom line is all they are Interested in is the Bottom Line.
And the Divid end that accompanies it at the end of the Financial Year.

Celtic Football Club is exactly that a fuckin football club.
It’s not a fucking time share or a punt the Stock Market.

At the moment it’s been treated as a cash cow by these Investors.

That has to change.

Pray to fuck my numbers come up folks for if they do you read it here first.
A new brush will sweep clean through the corridors of Celtic Park.

NO DANGER

Why ask anything of someone who cares little.

BroxburnBhoy

I would ask him what the vision is for his/our club. The overall vision of what is Celtic FC, what does it stand for in values and ethics which relates to the living wage discussion and our charitable past.
What does it stand for in footballing terms – the Glasgow Celtic Way – as the song goes and what his financial model is to facilitate the vision that he has for the club in all its aspects.
I would like to hear him say, we intend to win every trophy in Scotland every year. We intend to be in the Champions league every year. We intend to reach the play off stages of the champions league on a regular basis.
Then he can tell us how him and his executive team will ensure that we are filling up Celtic Park to capacity with a winning team, a great day out experience and what other commercial ventures with TV and sponsors will fund our ability to fulfill the footballing vision and our social obligations.
