As another year draws to a close, its time to have a look at the world around us and ask ourselves how we can make things a little better in 2014.

For instance,   forming opinions based on ignorance, prejudice and fear is responsible for fifty percent of all the violence and suffering in the world today. The other half is down to Rangers supporters, and we must keep up the pressure to drive them out of existence.

Ach, just kidding. sure I watched a film about empowering women, and removing the stereotypes associated with them. It was called thelma and Louise and the heroes died due to piss poor driving.

Joking apart, thats what we should be doing though, looking forward, and not looking back. As the tv stations -wow, how old am I,  really ? they’re called channels now-prepare endless reviews of the year for us all to watch we should all turn our heads away and look towards the year ahead of us instead.

Here at Etims we are going to keep our look back at the year fairly brief;

So, what of the future ?

While we can confidently expect another double win for Celtic, Thatcher can , regrettably, only die the once, so we need something else to look forward to. Whilst watching re-runs of the football on tape is acceptable and can even be enjoyable, theres only so many times you can watch a funeral.

So, whats on the agenda for 2014 ?

Kris Commons has signed a new contract,

Though it is in the Sun, so lets get word from Mrs Kris Commons, who should know about these sort of things.

I hope what I’m reading is true!!!

Oh. Well, I hope its true. Commons has turned out to be worth every penny of the £300,000 we paid for him, and do you know something, if Derby had held out for a wee bit more, he’d have been worth it.

Play him as a striker and we would have someone else signed for next to nothing who turned out to be something special.

Did you know that the top rate of income tax in France just went up to 75% ?

He does. And he has asked someone what its like at Celtic Park;

Alfred Finnbogasson is going to stay at Heerenveen until the end of the season, according to his agent  Kees Ploegsma, who said;

“I think in June he will make the move. At this moment no team has spoken directly with Heerenveen.

The little story we heard about Samaras being told he’s going to Hull for £1m seems to have reached the press. Well, the Hull Daily Mail , at any rate;

” Hull City are preparing to tempt Scottish champions Celtic by tabling a £1m offer for striker Georgios Samaras when the transfer window opens tomorrow. With Samaras’ current contract due to expire at the end of the season and little prospect of an extension being signed, Celtic boss Neil Lennon has become increasingly resigned to losing the Greece international.

With Bruce aiming to add a proven goal-threat to his ranks, Samaras fits that bill ”

Er, should we tell them, or just take the money ?

If that little story about Lawwell telling him to go or else  is true-and I think we should be told-then its Lawwell who should be chased. Whatever the failings of our very own Greek God/ Tragedy (depending on how he performed in his last outing ) he deserves to be treated better than that.  Lawwell himself has earned nowhere near the respect Samaras has in the supporters eyes, and he needs to move quickly to deny this story.

Thats if its not true , of course.

Scotzine on line magazine asks the question

Here we go again…..

So, given that Rangers cannot compete with anyone for anything ever again, after due consideration the answer is no.

By the way, I quit smoking on Saturday as well.

Got one of those e-cigs for Christmas and its working.

So, in 2013, I quit drinking and smoking.

Actually, lets not bother with this whole looking forward thingy. Doesn’t seem a lot of point.
