As most of us are aware, the newspaper industry , especially north of the border, is in decline. Across the counter revenues, or sales, are fallling dramatically, and the rags are now dependent on advertising money to survive.
In Scotland, the continuing refusal of the red tops especially, but they are all guilty, to report the facts with even the tiniest hint of balance, is going to hit them next.
The first major blow for any of the papers came yesterday when childrens buidling block manufacturers and household name Lego announced they would no longer do business with the Daily Mail..
@StopFundingHate We have finished the agreement with The Daily Mail and are not planning any future promotional activity with the newspaper
Alright, they may not have done it because the SFA have been cheating and lying for several years, and its not a protest to Scottish papers for their lack of coverage of those events, but its the start of a backlash against agenda based reporting, something the SMSM would do well to note.
After all, we all use the bookies….
And as for those of you who still buy them, P Braineys cartoon kind of sums it up …
That may be also why some of you still haven’t signed the petition below..
The Scottish Football Association: The SFA Has To Respond To Allegations Of Impropriety Concerning … https://www.change.org/p/the-scottish-football-association-the-sfa-has-to-respond-to-allegations-of-impropriety-concerning-the-issue-of-uefa-licences?recruiter=158907509&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=share_twitter_responsive … via @UKChange
Integrity is essential in all sports. It is an integral element of competition if there is to be an equal opportunity for all to succeed. Over many years this integrity has been openly defiled, as in the case of drug abuse. However, there have been more underhand and less publicised methods used to provide a competitive advantage or disadvantage. It is unacceptable enough when inordinate investments, either private or public, skew equality but when those who govern a sport are possibly involved in providing unfair advantage, then sporting integrity is dangerously undermined. It is being suggested that the Scottish Football Association “knowingly and purposefully issued a licence to Rangers F.C. whilst the club was in breach of the required conditions surrounding overdue payables to H.M.R.C., enabling them to compete in the U.E.F.A. Champions League in season 2011-2012”. If this should be true, then there has been serious inequality and sporting integrity totally ignored in Scottish football in favour of one football club for at least five years. I am signing this petition because the Scottish Football Association has never responded directly or adequately to these accusations and shows no intention of clarifying its position in relation to this potential breach of U.E.F.A. rules.
There are others which explain why the signatory has signed..
There has been a systematic failure by the SFA to administer the sport effectively; either through a failure of trust, a failure of administration – or both. There is little doubt in my mind, given the evidence we see before us that the governing bodies have made a serious ‘Error’ in the process of the UEFA licensing process.
If I was a Celtic, Hearts, Dundee United or Killie fan, well the consequences for them in terms of lost financial and competitive opportunities are fairly obvious.
The UEFA licensing issue is only a pebble in the sand of football incompetence and corruption, but it is a microcosm of what ails the game. The good of the sport, and not individual clubs, is paramount.
The SFA cannot and will not deliver that. The SFA need to account for these findings.
Some are shorter and straight to the point..
SFA corruption and bias has to be properly investigated and exposed.
This body receives public funds & should be accountable to the public
And so it continues, and if you haven’t signed yet, then sign it now.
As the man says, and I think you know the answer to that…
Remember that tardis I used to use to pop back in time every now and again? That time when I came back and asked
“Did it work, did they only get nine in a row ? “
Well, the old beast has a couple of forward gears as well, and I went to have a read of the papers in the week running up to the clinching of ten in a row..
These caught my eye on the preceding sunday..

Its the Celtic AGM next week, the 16th, and the Celtic Trust would like you to support their Resolution, number 12 on this years agenda..
The Celtic Plc AGM will take place on Wednesday 16th November at 11am in Celtic Park.
We would encourage all shareholders to use their votes by proxying them if unable to attend the meeting personally.
A proxy vote can be cast either by returning the Form of Proxy sheet enclosed in the AGM papers which have been sent to all shareholders  by post or electronically by logging on the Computershare site using the individual login details on the same form.
We would draw your attention to this year’s Resolution 12 which will be proposed by the Trust and which requires the setting up of a Supporters Forum. For the first time the Celtic Board will support a Resolution bought forward by the Trust so we expect that it will be passed but it is still important that small shareholders also endorse this initiative.

Any shareholder is welcome to contact the Trust at theceltictrust@gmail.com if any further information is needed but please note the time to cast votes is now very short and they need to be with Computershare by 11am on 15th November.
Any shareholder can also nominate a proxy to attend the meeting in person by giving him/her their attendance card.
Good luck and get voting!
The Celtic FC Foundation held their sleepout in to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless. On a bitterly freezing night keynote speaker LordLivingston of Parkhead explained how he’s a Tim just like us…
“The decisive factor could be that he is a real Celtic man. That took me by surprise when I met him at half-time during a Liverpool game at Stoke. I had travelled up from London with the club owners, Hicks and Gillett, to be guests of Liverpool. Gerrard wasn’t playing so at half-time he was introduced to me.
It was him who brought up the subject of Celtic and you could see he was pretty excited talking about it. He said ‘that’s my team, that’s who I support.’
Obviously, I’m sure he’s got a great love for Liverpool and I’m not saying Celtic would have been a greater love. But he was very adamant about his passion for Celtic and said whenever he gets opportunities he would come up and see them because that was his team when he was younger.”
