Celtic Diary Tuesday March 14: Time to Stand Up for our Club
The dust has begun to settle after the 1-1 draw with plucky newcomers “rangers “, who achieved possibly their best result of the season on Sunday. Their players and supporters seemed to think so, and with Bobby Madden turning in a vintage performance for the blues , they could be forgiven for thinking that all is well at Ibrox.
By becoming only the second side to take points off Celtic in the league this season, they perhaps deserved their moment in the sun, and credit has to go to Madden especially who kept plugging away right until the end to ensure his side got the point they needed to,er, increase their tally by one as they relentlessly go for 55.
Sifting through the various match reports and analysis is interesting and alraming at the same time, but when it comes down to it, “rangers ” did what most smaller clubs do when they come to Celtic Park, and just kicked, tripped and pulled their way through the game.
Had Madden and linesman Potter been even remotely impartial, or capable, then the result would have been different, but thats Scotland, and thats the referees up there.
So why should we accept it ?
Many supporters adopt the attitude that if the team is good enough, the referee doesn’t matter. Which is a little too close to lying down and having ones tummy tickled for my liking.
What are the club afraid of when it comes to calling these cheats out ?
Thats what they are, nothing more and nothing less.
Why has nothing been said, even about the general standard of refereeing in this country, to at least attempt to address the problem ?
Mind you, the club bent over and allowed the old Rangers to get away with cheating for years, so perhaps its just the fans who have got over the “poor little immigrant ” mentality , and the club is unable to realise that it doesn’t have toi doff its cap anymore.
Astonishingly, whilst there can be no argument that there is an institutional bias within the game for the benefit of one club-two if you count its predecessor- no one wants to stand up and deal with it.
With the cup semi final ahead of us, there is a real fear that another from the SFA school of helping handshakes can influence a game enough to prevent the rarity of a treble, and its quite worrying that the idea we should be good enough no matter what the officials do.
Sundays performance by Bobby Madden isn’t the first time that a referee has allowed his allegiances to interfere with his job, and it won’t be the last.
Gordon Strachan has picked six Celtic players to join his latest list of players from unfashionable English clubs to represent Scotland, and as well as sticking two fingers up to players from Aberdeen and Hearts, he has finally included Stuart Armstrong.
Strachan said;
‘My wife and I went to a dinner where he made an acceptance speech and we all went: “What a lovely guy he is”. But I told my wife: “I’m afraid we have to turn into devils on the pitch”. She said: “I know that”.
‘You don’t have to be a devil, but there has to be a devil inside you. You have to have this personality devil and I think that personality has grown in Stuart.
‘He’s become a personality on the pitch. I might be wrong, but, before, I thought he wanted to be a good team player. However, he had more than that in him.
‘Now he’s trying to be the best player on the pitch first of all — and be a good team player second.
‘It hasn’t always gone smoothly for him at Celtic. It hasn’t always been a great time for him and he has had to take a few knocks and come back. But his character has been built up and he has grown into a big personality on the pitch.’
Armstrong has come on in leaps and bounds this season, and playing for Scotland can only help his confidence. As long as he does play. If he doesn;t play because someone from West Brom or Fulham gets a shot, then Strachan truly has lost the plot.
The ibrox support, delirious over winning a point at Celtic Park, didn;t really have much time to savour the appointment, as it appears Dave King has got himself into a little bit of bother over his own unique interpretation of company law.
As no one can own 30% of a comapny without making an offer to buy up all the shares he doesn;t own, King has been a little less than honest when acquiring his stake in the club, and asked a few others to buy shares on his behalf, thus allowing him a bigger share than he’s legally allowed to..
What does it all mean ?
Lets see what the gullibillies think…
Phew!
I thought they might be in trouble there. Other experts have a different viewpoint..
Effectively, King has to now make an ffer for all the shares he doesn’t already own. It’s going to cost him millons.
If he doesn’t, and his previous suggests he may well ignore the ruling, then he could face a hefty fine or the jail.
but the papers don’t want to dwell on that-there’s a new kid in town…
“I hope we are going to be champions next season but only time will tell. Scottish football needs a strong Rangers and a strong Rangers is only one that is fighting for titles.
“So that’s what we will try to do. We know we are going to get to the top. That’s what we are here for. The challenge is to rebuild the past glory.
“It’s the biggest club in Scotland and is fighting to get to the top again. Why is it the biggest? I give you two numbers – 144 years old and 54 league titles – that’s more than enough.
“I want to make the club even bigger than it is and try and achieve something that maybe we haven’t achieved. We are talking about European trophies.
“It will take time but at this level you need to set goals up high. If you set them low it’s not enough. They need to be realistic at the same time.
“It’s going to take time to arrive there but it’s important to know you are following those goals.
“I always believe in the players who work with me on a daily basis and according to my point of view they are the best in the country.
“If I don’t believe in my players, do you think they are going to believe in me?
“I also want to give a stability to the club in all levels, in all structures, and to get it on the way in order to be unstoppable.
“I do believe Celtic wants Rangers to be strong. I believe Scottish football wants Rangers to be strong. You don’t want the champions always having four qualifiers to reach the Champions League group stage.”

Ibrox chief Stewart Robinson, who should know better by now, added..
“There will be investment there. We are going to strengthen the squad but I’m not putting numbers on it.”
Caixinha also cleared up the mystery of the “Celtic brother ” video that has emerged on the web from his time at Santos Laguna..
“I’d no relationship with Celtic. I was with Santos Laguna … They asked me to make the video, I made the video. That is all.”
Whereas at Ibrox, no one tells him what to say or do…
Meanwhile, Barry Ferguson, currently between jobs, has thrown his hat into the ring to be the Ibrox number two. Which is exactly how a lot of people already describe him.
Ferguson, no doubt wearing his Ibrox trackie, burbled..
That’s my club. That’s where I was from an eight-year-old kid. I spent 20 years of my life at Rangers.”
Who’s going to tell him ? In monosyllables, preferably.
The ugly head of sectarianism popped up at the weekend, and Hannah Rodger of the Evening Times was straight onto the case..
Sectarian graffiti being investigated by police
SECTARIAN and offensive graffiti scrawled in the city centre is being investigated by police.
Members of the public spotted the foul scribbling on a number of buildings in Nelson Mandela Place and Glassford Street over the weekend.
The remarks, which read ‘Hun c***s*’, ‘Hun scum’ and ‘RIP RFC’ appeared in large black letters on several derelict buildings.
Commuters and shoppers stopped to stare at the vile scrawl as they walked past earlier today, with many commenting that it should be removed.
One shocked passerby who spotted the graffiti this morning, said: “It’s just awful.
“I was really surprised to come across it.
“Unfortunately, there is still an undercurrent of sectarianism in the city, and it’s completely uncalled for.
“It’s such a stupid and ignorant thing to do.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said is the force were aware of the graffiti and are now investigating.
Sometimes, as a reporter, I guess you get all excited and don’t actually bother reading what you’ve written. Fair play to her though. Sectarianism is a big word, and not everyone can understand big words, but she had a go, which is encouraging.
Other big words she might want to include in later articles include “administration”, “liquidation ” and “sycophant”
There was no caption competition yesterday, as i didn;t feel like laughing and didn;t see why anyone else should, so we go back to Sunday for this one..

Ralph,
Completely agree with you on this, the performance of Madden and his assistant hominids is NOT incompetence, it’s premeditated, deliberate and entirely fucking expected!
Some supporyers need to learn our club/team is fucking hated in Scotland by a number of knuckle dragging Huns in high positions.
Look at the treatment of our fans by Police Scotland, with their scarves around their face and their fucking cameras, filming our support, but say or do nothing about banned racist and sectarian singing from the Orcs?
McLean, Dallas, Macdonald, Madden…..and lots more before them are fucking at it, the Celtic board are fucking useless when it comes to defending the club and questioning referees impartiality.
As a club if we do or say nothing, it will just keep fucking happening?
Put pressure on the bigots in black and let them fucking strike, they are all fucking corrupt and useless anyway?

Ralph to be honest I was one of the supporters who thought no matter how bad the ref was we couldn’t fail on Sunday. It was my wake up call, that of course our players can have an off day and refs then influence the match.
The thing that shocks me is the players except Lustig don’t get involved, when a bad tackle happens on one of our players
We should be into the culprits face, letting him know his card is marked.
This then forces the ref to take more action.
We need to be more aggressive against them,as they will kick all day long.
Miller knew his lunge should have seen him walk, but a wink and a nod to his brother saw him through. Clint hill allowed 3 professional fouls, before being booked. Waghorn on Bitton, Holt on Roberts, and then continually nigglley fouls all over the place. It was easy to see that they were there to stop Celtics momentum.
I was disappointed with Sinclair and Dembele in particular, but it was an off day for everyone. Maybe it’s the wake up call to the players as well as Brendan, that to win a trophy here, you have to be better than 12 players on the pitch. That extra effort is required every game. So lets just forget Sunday, and the season starts now with 0 points on the board and two trophies to play for.
That would be my message to the players.
jimmybee we do not have the players with the necessary “bottle” remember quite a few of these have been about when we were rolling over in Europe, coaching can only go so far but you can do fcuk all about serial “bottlers”
Spot on Jimmy.

100% behind you on this. Any other country in the world,Madden would have been booted out of the game after his performance on Sunday.
He’d have been in good company too, joining every other ref whose ever allowed the way of things in Scottish football to cloud his judgement when refereeing ANY match involving us or them.
We’ve put up with this for far to long, accepted it unquestioningly. Never mind that it affects our chances of winning things-that’s bad enough, ffs.
What it affects most of all is the players. Celtic players being put in danger of career-ending injuries. Any player v them, the same.
No. This is not right. The press should be all over it. Telly pundits should be all over it. The players’ union should be all over it.
But what do we get? It’s a man’s world, man up ya torn-faced Timmy basturt. And silence apart from that.
Naw. Not for me. It wouldnae be for me if it happened in my workplace, and I don’t see why it should be in anyone else’s either.
That’s the closest any hun will get to tasting success.
caption, i nicked this as the number matched my IQ
The two decisions of Madden’s that had the most effect on the game.
1) Hill rugby tackling Forrest on the half-way line. Foul, no yellow. This tackle is a 100% caution and does not get a mention. Hill is then on a yellow early doors.
2) Brown winning the ball from Hyndman just before their goal. Hyndman falls and scrambles on the ground. If Brown goes down in any way it is a foul. Brown won the ball.
There is no mention at all by the MSM about these two huge decisions by an incompetent hun ref
Scottish journalism, is there such a thing? they print lies, they talkshite, they stir sectarianism they promote sectarianism, these the hun scum by so called educated peepul these despicable bastards should be impartial and print the truth, a stain on society, the uneducated could perhaps be excused but that????.
Dermott Gallagher a retired referee,on sky states Madhun was wrong it WAS a penalty.
The Scottish slum, prints Gallagher states Madhun was right it wasn’t a penalty.
Anyone who contributes in anyway to this festering sore is no friend of Celtic and I include our own Board, who tarnish Celtic park with its stinking advertising.

Ye know something: There’s things that are just beyond explanation or even trying to be funny about. Fuck all orinj scum! It’s all I’ve got. Cunts.
I’ll say it again: Peter Lawwell, due to his personal ambitions in continuing with additional administrative posts with the SFA and UEFA, beyond his Celtic remit, is stopping the club from being able to hold the authorities to account or even raise question.
It’s going to take a significant injury to one of our players for this to become a focus.
It will already have been too late by then.
5TB,
Bang on m8, well said!
Agree with all of this – and I’m still seething over yet another display by cheating officials and I’ve seen a fair few over the last 50 years. I know that many here have argued that Celtic players need to be more in the mould of former greats such as Auld and Hay (agreed) when it comes to hard but fair tackling, but we must remember that the only chance that Sevco have of winning is if our players are goaded into losing the plot, retaliating and getting themselves sent off. We all know that Madden and his cheating brethren would leap at any flimsy excuse to brandish a red card for the most innocuous of challenges. So for this reason, discipline as well as ability will be the key to our success in the semi-final.
Question i’d like to put to our board today.
The Celtic support is frustrated to breaking point with officials blatantly cheating the team/club.
Do you as a collective board feel frustrated with officials performances in Celtic matches?
I urge you to go ahead and write to them exactly that.
Maybe the Celtic board should hold a press conference today, telling the officials, that if they continue to cheat Celtic, there will be “social unrest”?
But you must say ” Social unrest ” in a Daffy duck voice like Thhhtewart Regan.
TTTTHHHOTHIAL UNREEEEETTTHHHHT 🙂
Monti why can,t they be challenged in a court or wherever face them down make them crawl out from under their stones, can,t we as a support take them to task through UEFA we are being cheated denied our rights,at one time I thought of taking them to the European Court of Human Rights for cheating me but I didn,t know what to do about it.
John,
I hear you but it really does land at the feet of the Celtic board.
Why do they not want confrontation with these cunts?

Lastly, can I have some of the script from the pharmacy Paperwork P uses?
What’s shocking and vile is the fact there are derelict buildings in Glasgow!
Incidentally Pedro, pretty sure the Rangers you are talking about (not the ones you manage) already have a European trophy…
It’s time for the Irish immigrant population in Scotland to say….we will no longer sit at the back of the bus.
The cheats and bigots must be called out continually. It is tantamount to idiocy to say that we just need to score more goals to make the referee an irrelevance.
The SFA and others must be held accountable.
Public disobedience anyone? Or perhaps a march on hampden on the day of the rigged semi final?
Our day will come, and theirs is too!
God bless Tommy Burns.

Yep it goes something like… YA DURTY CHEATIN BASTURD
How unlucky can you get? Young Hun allegedly hit by a bottle returns to the scene of the crime several years later where he meets a similar fate.
Was the bottle full or empty?
Why isn’t the Board ‘offended’ by this. They are ALL slimy COWARDS who are always too quick to ‘put the boot’ into their own fans with accusations of racism. They disgust me. They have enough rope to hang the SFA/SPFL and the Referee Association yet they hide cowering away scared of the HUNS. If they aren’t going to protect the Club and it’s good name, then they have to go. “Sack the Board, sack the board, sack the board”. HH
Well said schoosh71. Totally agree and spot on.
There seems to be a general consensus that “SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE” regarding the obvious anti Celtic bias of a group of Scottish referees…
BUT at last I see a glimmer of hope in the form of callS for some type of DIRECT ACTION. It is the only forum that’s left when all else has been exhausted.
The Scottish press don’t know how to write it as it is and are a shameful bunch of fake news peddlers…whatever sells their papers is their truth. (Donald told me that one)
The SFA appear to be complicit in all of this and will only think about taking action whenever it comes to pass that some poor bugger DOES indeed suffer a career ending injury from a grossly illegal footballing challenge.
When I read some of the posts here I AM MADE ABUNDANTLY AWARE THAT THERE ARE SOME CLEVER AND ARTICULATE PEOPLE WHO USE THIS ETims FORUM…
FOR FUCKS SAKE …
ORGANISE ORGANISE ORGANISE Before you are made to lie down, roll over and acquiesce to those who wish to silence your voice by crucifying YOUR TEAM AND ALL OF OUR ASPIRATIONS THAT GO WITH THAT!!!!!!”
Weered, we need to pressurise the board in to action. I estimate the turn over this year being close to £100M (if it isn’t then there’s something wrong with the figures). Biggest turn over ever as a club due to Brendan etc. The impact of this is we can’t hit them monetarily, the only thing they care about. So what’s left? Most fans have no determination or regard for what is abundantly apparent to us. In the small minority its not easy to convince anyone of the position never mind taking action on it.
Petition?
Agree, The income from the I.C.C. C.L. ticket money and all other income, make’s this a special year.
The downside is that most of the support are not interested in any form of direct action, we speak about this all the time on internet forums, teeth gnashing, but a general unwillingness to fight for a more open game.
Until that changes then unfortunately, just move along Timmy.
How many Tims go to home matches every week…that would be a good starting point…
How many “powerful” Tims are there who are prepared to put their heads above the parapet…probably more than you might imagine…
Pick their brains, use them for info, guidance and leadership…
You never know what might come of it…if nothing then at least you can say that you tried!
My days of organising ended in the mid 1970’s
Weered, I have gnashed my teeth till they are doon to the gum (no they are braw), but the best place to start is the CSA, Joe O Rourke is the man to get it started, if he think’s its a good idea. But have said this before.
Until the support get behind this, then ???.
I would offer my help or support in every way I could.
Surely as members of the paying public we are entitled to openness/fairness we are being cheated by the SFA there must be something/somewhere that we are able to take this to court be it here or Europe,it just wouldn,t happen anywhere else.
Hassle your local councillors,MP’s MSP’s etc and any other fucker that enjoys TV airtime…any publicity is better than no publicity cos there really is no such thing as bad publicity.

Not a lot to shout about, but we luv you Lying King, keep it going.
If only the Board, who’s shareholding is on the up, concentrated more on the fitba. and the lying and the cheating and showed there total commitment to CELTIC then, perhaps we could be even better of.

When Jim Craig advised ‘significant improvement work’ would be required, the silly hun went for it.
On the subject of Brother Midden and his ilk… In England, referees have to confirm which team they support. There’s also a yearly “audit” of their background.. Surely a petition to force the SFA to build in similar rules in Scotland would be something fans of all club would support (unless they’ve got something to hide?)….
BBC’s Chris Osbourne – 12 April 2016.. re EPL
“Do referees have to say who they support?
Yes. And referees will not get appointed to the clubs they support.
“At the beginning of every season the referees’ background information is audited,” said Keith Hackett, the former head of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the organisation that makes refereeing appointments for Premier League games.
“They complete a form that includes who they support, the history of if they’ve played the game and with the addresses where they are residing.
“That gives you a picture that comes into use when you’re appointing. It’s about ensuring, for example, you wouldn’t appoint a Sheffield-based ref for a Sheffield team.”
See http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36075347
Carl, That would be a sensible start, but there excuse would be, that in this small bigoted society, anyone interested in refereeing, would have allegiance to one club or the another.
I think that, that would show a small determination to be open and transparent, that along with the introduction of goal line and video’s technology like in rugby, would show a willingness to prove that the game was as honest as they could make it.
Wilny hold my breath though. The Board should insist on it.
The Huns would have Nae cunt to ref them
🙂
Yeah… and they’d never be able to find a ref for any of the diddy team games as they all support Thistle, Clyde, Killie etc. etc..
Nah. Seriously ‘though. We can moan until we’re blue in the face but nothing will change unless they’re forced into it. Would it really be so unworkable if refs were forced to formally declare who they support- and clubs were allowed to make a formal “protest” as part of the “audit” process? (I doubt clubs would protest without some substance). Nah. I won’t hold my breath, but widespread fan support which forced just 1 branch of the media to get behind it, might at least get the ball rolling/start some debate.
HA HA HA Pmsl or St. Mirren, wee Chico on our esteemed National Broadcaster.

The Scotsman has an article regarding Sunday’s game, result—–
A penalty, but no red for Hill.
A red for Broonie’s slap on Holt,
A yellow for Millers two legged of the ground tackle on Armstrong, because he missed him and after two video investigation’s a yellow for Holt’s scissor tackle on Roberts.
Week after week we read through Celtic media about these issues, they aint going away until they are addressed and stopped.

I am fed up with th compliance of the board, a shower of windbags. Year after yea we suffer incredibl decisions which the media call paranoia.
MacDonald was a prime example of paranoia, the hatred towards Lenny paranoia. Count the games where opposing players have lunged at Celtic players, how many s Ming offs?
The answer is not on the field, the answer is always Boa drool level. Where the police are monitored and challenged. Stewards present at every away game filming their antics. A total ban on adverts in the trash media, use websites such as Ralph’s to place adverts.
The gnashing of teeth was the same when Tiny Wharton was a mason in the black.
Last week a report was written on sectarianism, note how the professor was challenged on his report.

“S ming offs”?
Wtf?
Caption: so that’s what success tastes like.
The match officials were terrible on Sunday. Clearly. As a long in the tooth Celtic man, I’ve been watching this for years as many here have pointed out. That said it is the role of Celtic Board members and Celtic Management to stick up for the club. I fully expect Brendan Rogers to start have a pre game and half time word with referees and I fully expect Celtic players to protect themselves and make an issue of major foul play. Lastly I expect and demand the Board to make a case for a better standard of officiating including replays of penalty incidents. I’d like to see Mr Lawell earn his money by becoming a major thorn in the SFA. I would ask and demand that DD call a meeting of the Board and send send a resolution to shareholders asking for support to tackle the standard of officials and their allegiances – the system has to work or it’s no system at all. Lastly let’s not become victims here. It’s time for the club to take a lead from the supporters and get on the front foot on all aspects of the “rigged” system. All we want is an even playing field methaphorically and literally cough!
I will be writing to DD and PL asking them to stick up for the club. I advise everyone to bombard the board with emails, letters and calls regarding poor officiating and level financial
Fair play rules
Madden, McLean, Thompson, Muir, Dallas, know doubt I’ve missed a few, but is there any officials that any of us have any faith in, can’t think of one.
Oh that’s right we’re paranoid !
HH
When we beat them and get Sheep but preferably Hibs in the final imagine the worldwide coverage if we organised a boycott ? Hard as hell to do but the fall out would shine a light on the Huns, their past and the sectarian sfa. We need to considerably raise the profile here. Donating the ticket money to Yorkhill or Maggies or any worthwhile cause would double the impact.
It’s clear that the reason the players were ‘having an off day’ was because Brendan had warned them that Midden and his pissant assistants would send off any Celtic player who so much as brushed against a Sevcon gobshite at speed.
You could see this in their collective hesitancy throughout the match.
I’ve watched these kind of fixed games for nearly 50 years and Sunday was exactly as we can expect the Cup seem final to be.
The Celtic board have already proven that they, too, are in the SFA’s pocket and, despite Phil’s claims that it was KingCo’s ‘undignified celebrations’ last April that forced Dermot to dig deep, I’ll wager it was the mounting level of fan outrage re Res 12 that was the true driving force behind his financial decision.
You’ll never hit a money man harder than by threatening his wallet and Desmond was astute enough to preempt the mounting calls of a fan boycott by going for Bremdan and ‘the strategy’.
As for the refs, our only hope is to refuse to play with these orange fuckers in the middle corrupting our game and we should demand until we get either English, or foreign, refs, for every Scottish football match forthwith, citing Midden’s display on Sunday as being the straw that finally broke the humpy fella’s back.
Besides, doesn’t it reek of blatant discrimination that every ref in Scotland just happens to be Scottish, with 18 out of 20 known to be of ‘The Peepil’, and the other two left cowed, intimated and terrified by the ongoing torrent of threats and abuse to themselves and their families should they ‘refuse to play ball ‘The Rangers’ way.
Caption: Billy misunderstands the offer to ‘Take a seat.’
I’d prefer to have action at the semi final. Rather than a boycott a “turn your back” protest at the beginning of the various official procedures. Make sure all the media and TV commentators know about it. All Celtic fans backs turned to the field for 2-3 minutes before the Huddle and turn round for the huddle. Turn you back on incompetent officials
What the fuck is turning your back going to achieve?
Well it draws attention to the issue by a very visible protest. That’s all. It’s a form of drawing attention to an issue.
