Why Were Celtic Fans Flashing Mysterious Lights Around Stadium During Game Today?
Football
Some Celtic fans want to know why there were hundreds of flashing lights around Parkhead towards the end of their 1-0 win over Partick Thistle this afternoon.
We were told of hundreds of flashing lights appearing around the stadium in the final five minutes of the 1-0 victory for Celtic.
It can only be assumed that these came from the mobile phones of fans, but it’s unclear exactly what the point of the lights was.
Celtic had put in a disappointing performance all afternoon and, at the time, were heading for a 0-0 draw after seeing Nir Bitton sent off in the 68th minute.
That result would have meant Celtic extending their winless run to three games and their fifth home match without victory.
There is a suggestion that these white lights could be a modern replacement for white hankies – commonly used by Spanish football fans to show their disgust.
But we can’t confirm that and can only ask anyone in attendance why so many lights were flashed at the one time?
Here’s more of the reaction from some fans who also noticed the lights:
It could all be one big coincidence and simply a lot of fans were looking to take a picture at the same time.
But we welcome any explanations from fans inside the stadium who know what was going on.
Elsewhere in the stands, one fan was so bored by the Celtic performance that he spread out on some seats and went for a sleep.
