A lot to catch up with today, so you’ll have to pardon me if I forget something. Like I forgot Knob of the Week on Friday, which is unusual, and in itself means that no-one stood out enough to win the coveted title, but over the weekend , and no doubt this week, candidates will up their game to make sure I don’t make the same mistake on Friday.<\/p>\n

We’ve a lot to catch up on because there was a minor technical glitch on Saturday, which meant the site was down for a while, but it was soon sorted when the bill was paid. Due to our advertisement free policy, we need to chuck a few quid at the host every now and again, at least until the right advertiser with the right free samples comes along.<\/p>\n

A holiday company, a luxury car manufacturer , a bank, that kind of thing.<\/p>\n

If you thought the reporting in the mainstream media was slightly skewed, wait until you see how biased ( selective ) I can be…<\/p>\n

Celtic continued their impressive start to the league campaign with a 4-2 win up at MacDairmid Park, Perth, as St. Johnstone were swept aside in the first half, allowed to make it interesting for a portion of the second, before the Hoops secured the game with a late goal.<\/p>\n

With mnds on the trip to Israel, and the crucial second leg against Be’er Sheva, thats not really a surprise, and despite the best efforts of the SPFL fixtures computer, it might just be that Celtic come out of this month with maximum points against our three main rivals, even though two of the games were away from home.<\/p>\n

And I’ve checked, it appears the computer will finally allow us a home game this Saturday.<\/p>\n

Its been a tough month so far, and if we combine a possible nine points with League Cup advancement and Group stage qualification, then its entirely possible that Brendan Rodgers will have a shot at Manager of the Month, unless the award is chosen by the ones who usually choose it.<\/p>\n

There was controversy surrounding the game on Saturday, as Craig Thomson, a referee described as “excellent ” by match commentator Derek Rae-presumably he and Chris Sutton have some sort of who can say the most ridiculous thing during a game challenge to liven it up for themselves-made up for his lack of yellow cards at Dens Park last week by brandishing it with enthusiasm this week. Except when a Celtic player was fouled, that is.<\/p>\n

James Forrest picked up a booking for celebrating too near to the crowd…<\/p>\n

Thomson used the yellow for this offence, as no doubt in his mind its much more severe than this, a tackle by Harry Forrester of “rangers ” against Dundee last week…<\/p>\n

Its worth noting that a late winner at Ibrox for Kenny miller and “rangers ” didn’t earn \u00a0a yellow card for celebrating…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The referee guideline on cautions \u00a0for celebrating is there for fan safety, we believe, as supporters surge forward and injuries can be sustained in the crush.<\/p>\n

This is another booking for over celebrating… Marvin Johnson of Motherwell, clearly putting lives at risk..<\/p>\n

Leigh Griffiths also went into the book after he appeared-to Thomson at least-to dive in the penalty area. Television pictures did appear to show he was on the way down before he contact was made, if you look at the incident from a certain angle, i.e. that of someone who is looking for a player to dive so that he can book him, but even if that is the case , then its worth noting that Griffiths was actually leaning into the defender, in the way that any forward would in a similar situation to make his centre of gravity lower which, in turn , makes it harder for an opponent to push him off the ball.<\/p>\n

In this instance, I’m going to call it a genuine honest mistake, perhaps the only one you’ll see this season. Despite what they said on Sportscene, where they didn’t take the circumstances into account, merely gleefully pointing out that Griffiths had leaned into the player and was on his way down before he felt the knee into the side of his leg.<\/p>\n

Griffiths, of course, saw it differently..<\/p>\n

We need to watch this, as Celtic are racking up quite a few bookings. Establishment favourites and financially stricken “rangers ” are not.<\/p>\n

One might suggest a conspiracy…<\/p>\n

One other thing about referees, and its a curious thought.<\/p>\n

Willie Collum is the only referee in Scotland who actually gets any stick from the media. Now he’s certainly not a great referee, but he’s no worse than the rest of them, which suggests an undue influence on them as a whole, or just piss poor teachers.<\/p>\n

Why does Collum make the papers ?<\/p>\n

I cannot possibly imagine. He’s just a man trying to combine his refereeing ambitions with his work as a teacher of religion at a catholic high school….<\/p>\n

Thomson had also angered BT sport, who are doing their best to promote the game in Scotland, unlike the BBC or Sky who treat it with a patronising air , by starting the second half before the broadcasters were ready.<\/p>\n

Which annoyed Chris Sutton, the summariser, who has replaced Ronny Deila with Thomson as his own “Knob of the Season “, a decision its hard to criticise. Sutton felt it was because he had called the whistler a “bottler ” after he failed to send off Harry Forrester for the tackle pictured above…Forrester was already on a yellow card;<\/p>\n

If Sutton is right, it shows a level of childish and petty behaviour from Thomson which will make the rest of BT’s coverage essential viewing.<\/p>\n

Israel started shelling the Gaza strip last night, an area which is reported as being twenty miles or so from the ground where Celtic are playing on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel uncomfortable. Not as uncomfortable as those being bombed, but if by getting back on the plane and telling UEFA that Celtic are not playing this game attention can be drawn to this barbaric act, and possibly even pressure brought to bear on the Israeli government, then it should be done.<\/p>\n

During the first game, world wide praise for the stand made by the supporters gave us all a wee warm feeling. It certainly gave the Palestinians a sense that they had some support from the outside.<\/p>\n

Its time to take things a step further.<\/p>\n

Refuse to play the game.<\/p>\n

Bombs dropping on civilians down the road, ordered by the government of the country that is host to the club, and support ?<\/p>\n

Not my idea of a sporting contest.<\/p>\n

Another way to keep the eyes of the world on these atrocities is to send a few quid to help…<\/p>\n

Remember the idea of matching the UEFA fine with a charitable fund for the Palestinians ?<\/p>\n

Its under way, with over \u00a320,000 in the pot already..<\/p>\n

Its Monday, and as you know that means we do the Honest mistake of the Week, which goes to anyone who happens to do something that might help a certain club with their aspirations to become the relevant successor to a club which is now in liquidation.<\/p>\n

And we’ve even got a celebrity to back us up on this one, entirely without his permission, of course, but he does appear to share the same sentiment…<\/p>\n

Honest Mistake Of The Week\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

this week goes to the entire Scottish mainstream sports media, who knew this was out there, who knew where they could get a copy and instead decided to run with the same club myth, thus reducing themselves and the game in Scotland to a laughing stock in the eyes of the rest of the world.<\/p>\n

Those pathetic spineless bastards have allowed a PR company to roll them over and tickle their tummy on this one.<\/p>\n

Whilst a corrupt and colluding governing body continues to milk the game for their own personal use, the media, who have a responsibility to their readers, have shamefully ignored it, and even now ask us all to move on.<\/p>\n

And for what ?<\/p>\n

God only knows, but I hope it was worth it for them.<\/p>\n

Because when all this os over, no credible paper, no credible news organisation at all , for thet matter, will touch them.<\/p>\n

And no wonder.<\/p>\n

They could start to make amends though…by asking Regan and Doncaster if they received the same letter that is published above…the one that was carbon copied to them by UEFA, and ask them for their thoughts…<\/p>\n
