Observing social media this evening it appears the issue of protesting against Israeli occupation of Palestine is still high on the agenda.<\/p>\n
As Celtic supporters there is a feeling that we have to do something, we have to make our voices heard.<\/p>\n
Something must be done to alleviate the pain and suffering, or at least to show empathy with the beleagured nation currently being raped and pillaged by the state of Israel.<\/p>\n
After all, part of being a Celtic supporter is fighting against injustice.<\/p>\n
Taking on the battle of the underdog.<\/p>\n
Do we wave their flag at the game ?<\/p>\n
Do we risk punishment from UEFA, whose articles forbid political protest ?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
No.<\/p>\n
It’s \u00a0not enough.<\/p>\n
If , as a support, we are serious about this, then we must achieve maximum worldwode publicity. We musy shake the very founf=dations at UEFA headquarters.<\/p>\n
We must simply withdraw from the competition.<\/p>\n
We must let the world know why.<\/p>\n
Celtic should not take part in a competition which features a nation that is persecuting another.<\/p>\n
No half measures. no risking a fine or a ban.<\/p>\n
If we feel strongly enough about it, as a club, and as a support, then we pull out on monday morning.<\/p>\n
If its publicity for their cause, that ought to do it.<\/p>\n
At least then we can hold our heads high, and say we refused to condone the admission to civilisation that the nation state of Israel should be denied.<\/p>\n
Sure, Celtic lead the protests against the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 69, which led to the withdrawal of Eastern bloc countries.<\/p>\n
Now id the time to make another stand, now is the time when we can make our voices heard worldwide.<\/p>\n
Tell UEFA where to stick their money.<\/p>\n
We don;t want to be a part of it.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
It may not make a difference to the every day existence of Palestinians, but no-one could then doubt our sincerity.<\/p>\n
And they would know that someone out there cares.<\/p>\n
Then we would truly be a club like no other.<\/p>\n
And it just might make a difference.<\/p>\n
