Was he given the job of Celtic manager, or of Celtic head<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y10 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">coach? And what the hell do we care \u2013 why am I interested in this apparently<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y11 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">small detail?<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y11 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y12 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Okay \u2013 the last part first. To me, based as usual on no research except my<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y13 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">many years spent watching football, there are some key differences between<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y14 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">a head coach and a manager.<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y14 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y15 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">I lived for several years in Italy \u2013 oh la la (wrong language there, amico) and<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y16 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">there \u201cmanagers\u201d are assigned the title \u201callenatore\u201d or trainer. They have<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y17 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">responsibility for the training, selecting the team, putting the tactics in place,<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y18 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">making substitutions, explaining why the team won \/ lost to the press etc. A<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y19 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">job with plenty of responsibility for sure, but not all of it<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y19 pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y1a pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">They have no responsibility for buying or selling players, the medical<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y1b pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">department, sport science department, the scouting department, the player\u2019s<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y1c pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">contracts, the strategic direction of the club.<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y1c pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y1d pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">These responsibilities lie with a general manger type figure (I know, you\u2019re<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-1m0 pg-1x1 pg-1h2 pg-1y1e pg-1ff1 pg-1fs0 pg-1fc0 pg-1sc0 pg-1ls0 pg-1ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">seeing images of Jock Brown standing like a fool with a sweeping brush). He is the creator, the evaluator<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2y3 pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">and decision maker of everything he surveys, and when he goes the whole<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2y4 pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">thing basically has to start again, think of Alex Ferguson at Man Utd.<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2y4 pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2y5 pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">In our clubs history, we\u2019ve had great managers, Pensionerbhoy\u2019s favourite<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2y6 pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Wille Maley (sorry PB!), Jock Stein, of my generation Martin O Neill. Possibly he\u2019s involved sure, but<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2yd pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">does he have final say? How many signings have we made from Norway or<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2ye pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">Scandinavia, where you might expct Ronnie to be in the know about a few<\/div>\n<div class=\"t pg-2m0 pg-2x1 pg-2h2 pg-2yf pg-2ff1 pg-2fs0 pg-2fc0 pg-2sc0 pg-2ls0 pg-2ws0\" style=\"color: #000000;\">juicy players we could have signed?
