There’s no excuse for that.<\/p>\n
For the players to ignore a wee fellow who has stood in the cold waiting for a glimpse of his heroes is unacceptable.<\/p>\n
And I’m sick of using that word just lately where Celtic are concerned.<\/p>\n
But I was heartened over the weekend.<\/p>\n
I remembered, by proxy, I guess, why i’m still a supporter, and why I probably will go back to the game sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
And , by the way, if i don’t get any Celtic merchandise for christmas no-one will have a clue what to buy me, and I’ve got enough socks and jumpers.<\/p>\n
So, do we just sit and moan and give up ?<\/p>\n
No, i don’t think i could handle another piss poor movie on a Saturday.<\/p>\n
And I was quite heartened by some fellow Celtic fans.<\/p>\n
First of all, our intrepid travellers from Stoke, who decided to try one or two different hostelries prior to the game.<\/p>\n
Now , i’m fully aware of the time and effort it takes for us to get there, but it’s worth remembering that others make long journeys as well, and the lads tell me they bumped into some fans from Forfar and Stonehaven, neither of which are exactly in the Glasgow postcode area.<\/p>\n
The conversation largely centred around how lethargic the team is, but also on the travelling the three sets of lads do.<\/p>\n
And it’s put me in mind of the early nineties, when no matter how bad things got, on and off the pitch, there are still thousands of us out there who will still support the team.<\/p>\n
Thousands of people who will, as one, decide when enough is enough.<\/p>\n
But they will also try to avoid that situation, and thats what we must push for first of all.<\/p>\n
On another page on this site is a reply we received from Lord Livingstone.<\/p>\n
If what is in that reply is correct, then first of all he has showed a little bit of the rebel in him by having the balls to stand up for himself, and i guess, what he believes in.<\/p>\n
Whether or not you agree with him, fair play to him for coming out with it.<\/p>\n
Perhaps if he had \u00a0made that statement at the AGM we could have avoided the shitstorm that followed.<\/p>\n
But, as they say, better late than never.<\/p>\n
I’m still uncomfortable that he didn’t use his position in the Lords to at least make a point about policy changes, but thats his business, however, as a board member at Celtic, who has now publicly said he didn’t support the policy, he should have, as anyone in a position of conflicting interests should, have either abstained or voted with his conscience.<\/p>\n
But, thats down to him.<\/p>\n
Bankier himself faces calls for his resignation after he made his statement, and then refused to back it up. A later statement sounded pretty much like one of those Cameron moments where he speaks to a camera and then runs off before anyone can question him.<\/p>\n
The Celtic Trust have issued their statement, and again this simply shows that the issue is not going to go away.<\/p>\n
So, if we are all genuinely pulling in the same direction to achieve the same ends, then the Chairman must apologise for the way in which he spoke, because even if he didn’t mean to tar us all with the same brush-hang on, is that racist ?-he did, and sometimes how a speech is likely to be interpreted is equally as important as what words are in it.<\/p>\n
So, in a spirit of seasonal amiability, maybe we should all accept that mistakes were made, make suitable apologies, and then move on.<\/p>\n
There’s a club to run, and a team to support.<\/p>\n
And right now, that team does need a little support.<\/p>\n
