Twitter was twatted and Facebook fecked last night as Celtic supporters put on the black cap and decided that Ronny Deila’s time was up at the club.<\/p>\n

The press, delighted to be able to focus on something apart from corruption now have something to get their teeth inot, ably abetted by a support which , although it has every right to be disappointed with another inept display, either won’t or can’t see the big picture.<\/p>\n

Some of our players can’t be arsed with the Europa League.<\/p>\n

Now, you may argue that the buck stops with Ronny, and it’s his job to make them arsed, and the lack of chesion and understanding is again down to him, and you’d have a point.<\/p>\n

But only up to a point.<\/p>\n

The whole performance last night was summed up by the reaction of Kris Commons after his goal. you’re one down in a game you have to win. Watch the video, and then look at his face here.<\/p>\n

Over the moon, isn’t he ?<\/p>\n

Commons was the most senior player on the park last night. He took no part in the second half, citing a hamstring injury. I’d say it was more likely to be something wrong with his heart.<\/p>\n

He wasn’t the only one. But remember the passion he showed last time out when he was in the dugout ?<\/p>\n

Pity he didn’t save some for when it would have done some good.<\/p>\n

It didn’t help when Jozo Simunovic was stamped on early doors, forcing a fifth minute substitution that allowed Tyller Blackett to have us all missing Efe Ambrose, but once again the defence, Keiran Tierney apart, collapsed into a disorganised panic, and led to the customary two goals against.<\/p>\n

One of which the defender, I only saw the replay, actually moved out of the way of the shot.<\/p>\n

No manager can legislate for that.<\/p>\n

The result leaves Celtic needing to win both remaining games in the group to qualify. We’ve been lucky in that respect. Can it be done, however, is a different question to will it be done.<\/p>\n

By the way, at least Fener fans have a sense of humour, you know, like we used to have.<\/p>\n

So, back to the big picture.<\/p>\n

The team last night looked like, with a few exceptions, it was dying. There is a need for rebuilding, but wasn’t that why Deila was hired in the first place ?<\/p>\n

Already we can point to players who are fitting in nicely, such as Gordon, Tierney, Forrest, Biton, Armstrong, Rogic, Janko, perhaps Boyata and Simunovic, when fit-or at least when it’s not made public that he has a dodgy ankle-and of course Griffiths.<\/p>\n

Ryan Christie, Scott Allen , Gary Mackay Steven show promise, and there are other youngsters in the wings.<\/p>\n

This team, the one thats waiting , is the one to judge Deila on.<\/p>\n

Not the shattered remnants from last night that the EPL didn’t want to buy.<\/p>\n

Theres a lot to be sorted, and a huge job ahead.<\/p>\n

It doesn’t make any sense to start from scratch again.<\/p>\n

When the press , and some supporters, claim that domestically Celtic are so far ahead, isn’t that the time to blood youth, and to build a team that can consistently step up to the next level ?<\/p>\n

Doesn’t it make more sense to do that while the Scottish league is more or less a certainty, instead of bumbling along collecting honours ?<\/p>\n

Ronny has been here for around sixteen months. He needs at least another season and a half.<\/p>\n

If by then things haven’t improved in europe, we can start to ask questions, but for now, give yourself peace and back not only him, but the players, because they read social media and newspapers as well.<\/p>\n

And I think they don;t need anyone else to tell them they’ve let themselves, the club and the supporters down.<\/p>\n

Collectively, the management and the players have got us into this mess.<\/p>\n

It’s up to them to get us out of it.<\/p>\n

I’ve done my bit, sending a coaching manual to Lennoxtown;<\/p>\n
