\u201cOf course I was worried I had let the team down by leaving them with 10 men. I said sorry to the boys. It was a big game and we needed to keep 11 players on the field.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThey accepted my apology and were fine with me. These things happen so I need to be focused and 100 per cent fit for coming games.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe first yellow was hard because I touched the ball first and stopped the pass but the second I caught their guy. Now I must keep my head up and work hard for the team.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \n I’d take four of him at the back, attitude wise, ahead of any four you care to name from any other team. It’s about time we had a couple of baby eaters in the back line. Though Izzy shouldn’t really ask permission to sacrifice them before a game.<\/p>\n And as for Efe Ambrose, he was only on for fifteen minutes or so, but did more in the air and on the ground than the other two centre backs put together. He was outstanding, and deserves all the praise that should be coming his way.<\/p>\n I want a t-shirt with that picture, and “Don’t Worry, I Got This ” printed on it.<\/p>\n When ajax turned on the pressure in the closing stages, you knew they would probably score, but it took \u00a0a bit of luck to get the equaliser.<\/p>\n A free kick was swung in from the left, Craig Gordon positioned himself for an attacking header, but the ball deceived everyone, and ended up in the net. Though the defenders could have done a wee bit better, but sometimes you have to hold your hands up and compliment the scorer.<\/p>\n Gordon just put it down to bad luck, which in truth, it was;<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t see a lot of the free-kick. It came through everyone and I don\u2019t think anyone got a touch in the end.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI just tried to spread myself to cover every angle but everyone missed it and the ball went in at the back post.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWhen you get a ball as good as that you spread yourself, make yourself as big as possible and hope it hits you.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cYou just look for that wee bit of luck but it didn\u2019t happen on this occasion and it went into the back of the net.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Before the game, I would have been happy with just an improved performance with a healthy dollop of passion thrown in, and anything else would have been a bonus.<\/p>\n The passion was certainly there, the performance improved but still a little shaky, with too many passes still going astray, and perhaps a lack of speed allowing for players to be caught in possession, but overall, it’s an away point, and signs of improvement.<\/p>\n So, yes, i’m chuffed.<\/p>\n To get it into perspective, have a look at this;<\/p>\n Manager Ronny Deila was a little more philosophical;<\/p>\n \u201cOf course the sending-off was the turning point.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m quite sure we would have won without the red card.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWe had very good control at that stage when it was 11 v 11.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cBut when we went down to 10 men, they got more crosses into the box and we had to deal with it.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Which is in itself a compliment to how Emilio had contributed up to that point. But not as much as what he said next;<\/p>\n \u201cIt was very difficult because he had good control of El Ghazi.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIn the first half, he didn\u2019t do anything but he got caught on the wrong side one time before it.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt was a difficult decision to take him off because we got cramps and some haven\u2019t played so much, so we had to make other changes.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think he touched him so much. He did well in 95 per cent of the chances he had against him.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe first yellow card I could not understand but that happened.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cEmilio has no record of a lot of red cards. He played well up to then. He took out their best player for most of the game.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n And on the rest of the performance ?<\/p>\n \u201cWe played well, we created chances and we defended as a team. We had a great attitude and I\u2019m very proud of the boys.<\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0\u201cIf you see the whole game, a draw is okay. It is a very important point away from home.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe boys showed me they want to fight. We put ourselves in a good position with a point away in Amsterdam.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cTheir first goal was great play, fast passing and a lovely shot.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSometimes you have to say well done to the opponent as well.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cBut they only had one more half chance in the first period.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIn the second half we controlled the game, created some chances and we were dangerous in set-plays.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI felt we had control but when we got to 10 men, we had trouble.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Frank de Boer, ajax boss, had a moan, somewhat predictably;<\/p>\n![\"Embedded](\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/CPHtH2UWEAAYEBy.jpg\")
