Although usually a winger, he keeps scoring goals&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not since the days of Charlie Nicholas has curiousity about a promising new goalscorer been so intense. Nesbitt scored the winner against Dundee in a development game at Cappielow yesterday, as the young Celts came from behind to secure a 2-1 win.<\/p>\n<p>It was his third goal in four games, which immediately thrusts him into contention, having proved that he knows where the goals are, putting him in a different category to some of the other forwards.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, he&#8217;s young, but he&#8217;s already doing at least one thing reminiscent of another great Celtic forward;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/BmVWqaYIAAAG-ew.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And a whole host of others.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i3.dailyrecord.co.uk\/incoming\/article2283256.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s510b\/JS26107244.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mor interestingly, it appears the club are keeping his presence a secret from any interested English clubs who might be thinking of doing a &#8220;Feruz &#8221; on him. Breslin, Kelleher, McCart, Tierney; Thomson (Hill 64), <strong>McGregor;<\/strong> Nesbitt,<strong> Allan, Stokes; Ciftci\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Like everyone else, except maybe hack Gordon Waddell, I&#8217;d prefer kids to get a crack at the big time.<\/p>\n<p>Nesbitt&#8217;s shot might not be too far away.<\/p>\n<p>His coach Tommy McIntyre seems to think so as well;<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cHe\u2019s always had talent He was out for a period of time and he\u2019s come back stronger and has been a fantastic player for us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cYou can see what he gives you and I thought he was fantastic tonight and deservedly scored the winning goal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cThe players help him and he has a lot to live up to playing in that environment with the first-team but it\u2019s great how the first-team players are and how they look after the younger players. But it\u2019s also important for the young players to stand up and be noticed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cI thought he took the game by the scruff of the neck at times and he wasn\u2019t the only one. A lot of the young ones did really well and guys like Nesbitt and Kieran Tierney were outstanding.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Speaking of strikers, for most of us it was a little bit of a mystery why Leigh Griffiths wasn&#8217;t given a run out for scotland when they needed a goal against Germany, or why he didn&#8217;t start against Georgia when instead, for some reason, Steven fletcher was given the chance to add to his paltry career scoring record.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Mark McGhee, who would be washing dishes in a motorway cafe if it wasn&#8217;t for his friendship with Gordon Strachan, bumbled a response;<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">\u201cLeigh is an option and has become more of an option this season. We\u2019ve been impressed with the work Celtic have done.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><em>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">I saw him a while ago and some of the things they were asking him to do were right. He wasn\u2019t doing them. I remember speaking to Chris McCart at Celtic last Christmas about Leigh and made an observation that every time the ball was coming towards the box Leigh was running away.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><em>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">He was either running to the back post or if it came to one place, he\u2019d be at another. They seem to have reversed that. He\u2019s running towards where the ball is going and finding himself in better areas with better scoring positions.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">So, he&#8217;s doing what he was asked, and scoring goals&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><em>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">At some point we\u2019ll benefit but at this point Gordon judged Fletcher is still ahead of him. But he\u2019s getting closer.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">If I was a striker, and Steven Fletcher was judged to be &#8220;ahead of me &#8221; I&#8217;d want to be washing dishes in a motorway cafe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><em>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">Fletcher not getting a goal is not the be all and end all. We need a goal and if Fletcher keeps the ball and gets us a goal some other way that\u2019s fine.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">\n<p class=\"western\"><em>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">If Fletcher could get more goals that would be great for him and great for us but I don\u2019t think we should get hung up on that because he does make a contribution and if you are talking about guys like Kris Boyd or Jordan Rhodes, they are fantastic finishers but they might not link play the way Fletch would, or even Chris, to get us up the field and keep possession.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Goals win games. Not possession, not holding the ball up, and not linking the play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><em>\u201c<span style=\"font-weight: inherit;\">He\u2019ll make a huge contribution without scoring goals, so we shouldn\u2019t get too carried away.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">He&#8217;d make a bigger contribution if he wasn&#8217;t fucking playing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">I suppose when the camera cut to the vacant stares from the three, during the Georgia \u00a0game and we saw three great minds pondering what to do next the writing was on the wall;<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.stuff.co.nz\/content\/dam\/images\/1\/6\/q\/c\/2\/b\/image.related.StuffLandscapeSixteenByNine.620x349.16qbp6.png\/1441400390762.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">One of them even forgot his trousers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Still, there&#8217;s a parody \u00a0opportunity waiting for someone who writes for Only An Excuse if they ever decide to include characters from post 1990.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/qV4H8b8gz_E\/maxresdefault.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">\nThe Evening Times &#8220;understands &#8221; that Scott Brown may be rested as he isn&#8217;t fully fit.
