Celtic flew out to Spain yesterday for tonights game against SD Eibar, and Ronny thinks it will be a good runout to keep things ticking over for next weeks return with the Icelandic champions.<\/p>\n

Eibar finished last season 18th in La Liga, their first visit to the top table in their 75 year history, which would ordinarily have meant relegation, but 13th placed Elche-known in spain as the “Gers ” were found guilty of financial mismanagement and they were relegated as punishment, earning a reprieve for the Eibar.<\/p>\n

None of the Basque sides players will be familiar to Celtic fans, although a couple of former players will be. Xabi Alonso spent some time there on loan, and David Silva<\/p>\n

The town itself is a little more interesting, as it is the home town of none other than Francisco de Ibarra, who amongst other things, was in charge of the soldiers who founded the town of Santa Barbara in California. One of the 16th century conquidistors, he was involved in silver mining and founded several other towns whilst he was over there, a life of exploring and adventure quite remarkable for a man with apparently \u00a0completely sightless eyes;<\/p>\n

\u00a0Eibar also has a train station which is the envy of the world, boasting not only a traditional clock, but a 24 hour digital read out above, so that there’s little chance of missing that vital connection.<\/p>\n

Something I couldn’t find a photo of is the intriguing 17th century Hermitage of Azitain, which contains a unique statue of a beardless Christ, which sounds more like something the salesman told them when he offloaded it.<\/p>\n

We mentioned Lady Kerry CSC the other day in the diary, when we showed the away top with the sponsors label peeling off, and rightly not happy about this, a complaint was sent to New Balance.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Proving it’s not just their shirts that are piss poor, the company sent this reply…<\/p>\n

Presumably we aren’t supposed to wear them, or wash them.<\/p>\n

\u00a0New Balance are not winning many friends here. Their product is poor, and they clearly don’t give a fuck about customer relations.<\/p>\n

The new third kit comes out on monday. It’s a return to the bumble bee of yesteryear-like the second one was a return to -hang on, even the designers are fucking hopeless.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I’ve asked the guy who struck the deal for his comments via John Paul Taylor.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I’ll restrain from further comment until I get a reply.<\/p>\n

Like I’m restraining from buying any New Balance tat until I’m convinced it’ll be of “reasonable quality ” .<\/p>\n

The company has emblazoned it’s logo across the north stand at Celtic Park, which as far as I can see is the only thing with that name on it that will last until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Except the unsold strips if they don’t start to sort themselves out.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The tv companies have chosen the game sthey want to show live, which means a few fixture dates and times have changed.<\/p>\n

\u00a0If it’s not the kit suppliers , it’s the tv companies.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The supporter, who pays for it all, directly and indirectly, is struggling to be anywhere near the list of priorities for the club these days.<\/p>\n

anyhoo, for those still paying for English football by watching Celtic on telly, the changes are;<\/p>\n
