Speaking of offensive behaviour, there’s been a statement from the club, not about those events, but about the Offensive Behaviour Bill;<\/p>\n
CELTIC has opposed the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012 from the outset as\u00a0evidenced by our submission to the Justice Committee in 2011.<\/em><\/p>\n We\u00a0believe that the Act has the potential to discriminate against football supporters.<\/em><\/p>\n Celtic continues to oppose the Act and, as a contribution to\u00a0the Scottish Government\u2019s review of the Act, met recently with the Scottish Government to\u00a0explain our\u00a0position.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n We\u00a0proposed that\u00a0at a minimum certain offences under the Act should be repealed.\u00a0 Celtic also recently met\u00a0with Fans Against Criminalisation to discuss how to take this issue forward.<\/em><\/p>\n We wait with interest the findings of the forthcoming review and trust that\u00a0it will\u00a0be the full, transparent and in-depth review that football fans expect.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0Living in the south, I’m not ebtirely sure about how this bill works. Legally, one section of society cannot be subject to a law that doesn’t affect another section of society.
