It even made the English version;

The big difference was the shock horror angle of the Scots paper, whilst the English story was more of a tut tut and a smile. Theres a whole thesis to be written on editorial agendas right there.

Hang on, isn’t Brown a teetotaller ? The thing is, alcohol can affect non users in many different ways.

It appears to make one’s hair grow at an astonishing rate;

The Sun picture was apparently taken in February, which in fairness gives Brown plenty of time to recover for Sundays game. But lets not allow the facts to impinge on a good story. Especially one that the MSM can get their teeth into.

The BBC even had a reporter outside Celtic Park with a copy of the paper asking fans what they thought;

What was in the story ? Does anyone actually care ?

Scott Brown used the word “banter ” ?

Lap dancers, vodka, pizza, falling asleep on the pavement, maybe. Using the word “banter ” in conversation ?

CELTIC star Scott Brown blows Hoops gaffer Ronny Deila’s healthy eating regime — as he sits slumped on the pavement scoffing greasy pizza and chips after a strip club bender.

The Hoops skipper got the munchies at the end of a night on the tiles that saw him guzzling vodkas and stumbling around lapdancing bars in Edinburgh with his pals.

Deila has banned fries and fizzy pop from Celtic’s training ground to get his squad in top shape to tackle Europe’s elite.

So, presumably , Browns antics will get him into bother. John Hartson, who sold his soul to the sun in a far worse crime, commented:

last night former Parkhead striker John Hartson, 39, claimed Deila — who has introduced tough fitness rules and banned junk food and fizzy pop — will have been “raging” at the antics of the sozzled midfield ace on Wednesday night.

The SunSport columnist also reckons Scotland boss Gordon Strachan won’t have been impressed by our snaps of the star slumped on a pavement scoffing takeaway pizza and chips.

Hartson said: “I’m not condoning what Scott did. He has a responsibility as captain of Celtic and Scotland to portray a better image than those pictures showed.

“Ronny Deila will have been raging first thing yesterday — Gordon Strachan won’t be too chuffed.”

Brown is due to lead the Celts out at Hampden in the showpiece against Dundee United. And he’s expected to feature in Strachan’s squad on Monday for upcoming matches against Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.

John Hartson ? Commenting on diet ? Roy Keane, in the second part of his biography,says he saw the chunky Welshman eating crisps and guzzling fizzy drinks on the team bus, and said to himself ” Welcome to hell ”

Is the story true ? I couldn’t give a toss. As long as Brown performs on the pitch, like every man and woman who earns a crust, he’s entitled to let off steam any way he wants. And if you consider this extract;

But just three minutes later he stumbled back into the bar and was helped out the door by a bouncer — who told him to “get some food and sober up”.

An angry dancer emerged seconds later and complained to Brown’s pal: “He fell asleep during the dance. I don’t care if I got my £20 off him.”

then you know its a work of fiction. No lap dancer on this earth wouldn’t care if she got paid. So either the picture of Brown slumped in the street is after the bouncers gave him a kicking, or its an old snap dug up to make a point.

I wonder which it could be.

One pleasing aspect of the whole affair is Celtics decision not to talk about it, as the BBC explained;

Celtic are making no comment over a newspaper report that appears to show captain Scott Brown apparently drunk in Edinburgh days before a cup final

Good.
