<\/p>\nIts League Cup Final Week….oh yes it is….go on, get yourself excited, try your best. No? fair enough, its hardly the most important trophy when it comes down to pre-season Wish-List making after all but you cant win a Treble without it mind.<\/p>\n
So, while the League Cup final might not be the most important trophy of the season, it is the most important trophy of\u00a0 THIS WEEK and more importantly THIS WEEKEND!<\/p>\n
This Weekend your asking, so what?<\/p>\n
Well, the fact its this Weekend is exactly the issue.<\/p>\n
What else happens this weekend? ( no not that, you know fine well\u00a0that only happens on the last weekend of the month!)<\/p>\n
Why its Mothers Day of course.<\/p>\n
Cue some amongst you saying “Pah, so what”. Cue readers lambasting a cliche ridden event manufactured by necessity of greedy card and gift makers. Cue some amongst you looking heavenwards and thinking “God bless you maw!” and promising to spend that 3 quid you would have spent on a card on a decent alternative, like lager.<\/p>\n
BUT also, cue some of you saying “NO!!”<\/p>\n
Yip. you didnt see it coming did you?<\/p>\n
And do you know why?<\/p>\n
Because Neil Doncaster hates your mum!<\/p>\n
Its the only reason i can think of that a man would stage a national trophy on the very same day that the Nations sons and daughters should be celebrating with their Mothers.<\/p>\n
Some of you may be saying “You can do both at the same time!”.<\/p>\n
This is true but also extremely limited. As my very angry wife has just found out, most locations will only cater for one event, the Cup Final, or the other Mothering Sunday. It’s rare to have crowds of beloved Mothers sitting down to a nice\u00a0loving Sunday Lunch\u00a0\u00a0amongst crowds of\u00a0loud hairy arsed drunk football fans( some\u00a0 men too of course), shouting out at a large projection screen showing the game.<\/p>\n
This fact also now makes me consider just how clever is\u00a0 Doncaster as a business man? Should he be negotiating contracts with sponsors if he and his advisers cant see hes\u00a0halved the\u00a0potential \u00a0Hospitality and Event income streams for thousands of businesses in Scotland across this weekend!<\/p>\n

What did your mother do, for you to take it out on Mothers everywhere?<\/p>\n
Did she start you on the buzz cut life of torment?<\/p>\n
Did she advise you on the 5 way agreement?<\/p>\n
Does she just not like football on a Saturday?<\/p>\n
Does anyone know why the League Cup Final isnt being played on a Saturday, even at 5pm if needs be to accommodate 3pm kick offs. Dont we copy everything English football does these days?<\/p>\n
In fact if it has to be on\u00a0a\u00a0Sunday, then why does it need to be on a Sunday so very very\u00a0late in the season?\u00a0 The semi-finals were completed on 1st February\u00a0and when did the Quarter finals end?….the 29th of October 2014!<\/p>\n
Now thats\u00a0piss poor\u00a0logistics and no mistake, my only conclusion, its intentional because Neil Doncaster hates my mother!<\/p>\n
So come Friday when youre talking about the up and coming weekend, when you find yourself laughing with workmates or making meet up plans with friends, dont forget your dear old maw. She deserves that card, those flowers, that gift. She dotes on that visit, a hug, a kiss, a smile from the grandweans.<\/p>\n
Thanks to Neil Doncaster, she will just have to make sure shes available between 10 and 10:45am, because youre going to be on a very very tight schedule this Sunday.<\/p>\n
