A young man called John Thomson, our prince was truly blessed<\/p>\n

And between the Celtic goalposts, he proved he was the best<\/p>\n

They tell me that young Johnny still guards them every game<\/p>\n

As he eyes up every goalie who dare challenge this acclaim.<\/p>\n

The pretenders, and we\u2019ve had many, would walk that holy line<\/p>\n

To be adored and loved by Celtic\u2019s fans for a hero\u2019s hard to find<\/p>\n

Then along came Scotland\u2019s keeper, is he the best that we could get?<\/p>\n

Another \u201cfree\u201d, that\u2019s Celtic\u2019s way, but this time to guard our net!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

His heroics earned him plaudits, high praise that was deserved<\/p>\n

A professional, a gentleman, no matter who he served<\/p>\n

But injuries plagued the goalie and put paid to his career<\/p>\n

They assumed the worst and pitied now, the one they once revered.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two years away from football, two years out the game<\/p>\n

Some say he is a \u201chas been\u201d as they doubted and defamed<\/p>\n

The man who played for Scotland, the first picked for his team<\/p>\n

But these doubts were not Craig Gordon\u2019s, he continued with his dream.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

A strong will never gives up, what he had was self-belief<\/p>\n

The belief that he would make it and for us that spelt relief<\/p>\n

Commanding all he surveys, alert in body, mind<\/p>\n

Now he\u2019s Celtic\u2019s first choice \u2018keeper walking young John Thomson\u2019s line.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

He blocks and parries, twists and turns, leaps for every ball<\/p>\n

A defence that was in disarray now obeys his every call<\/p>\n

Commanding every movement with every step controlled<\/p>\n

And always quick to distribute and is fearless in our goal.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Defending, guarding, with all his might, our number twenty six<\/p>\n

Commitment, passion flows through veins between our hallowed sticks<\/p>\n

He left these shores for England for a Scottish record transfer fee<\/p>\n

Now he\u2019s back for club and country proving treasures can be free.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The man who came for nothing whom some of you chastised<\/p>\n

Now walks that line where greats have walked, here in Paradise<\/p>\n

And is that young Johnny smiling? Our Prince who will not rest!<\/p>\n

Because, If it is, he\u2019s telling us, Craig Gordon\u2019s passed the test!<\/p>\n
