The missing bits included this full run down on tonights opponents, Dinamo Zagreb;<\/p>\n

GNK Dinamo Zagreb<\/b>, commonly referred to as\u00a0Dinamo Zagreb<\/b>\u00a0(pronounced\u00a0<\/small>[dinamo \u02c8z\u00e2\u02d0\u0261reb]<\/a><\/span>), or by their nickname\u00a0Modri\u00a0(“The Blues”) are a\u00a0Croatian<\/a>\u00a0football<\/a>\u00a0club based in\u00a0Zagreb<\/a>. They play their home matches atStadion Maksimir<\/a>. They are the most successful club in\u00a0Croatian football<\/a>, having won fifteen\u00a0Croatian First League<\/a>\u00a0titles, twelve\u00a0Croatian Football Cups<\/a>\u00a0and four\u00a0Croatian Football Super Cups<\/a>. The club has spent its entire existence in top flight, having been members of the\u00a0Yugoslav First League<\/a>\u00a0from 1946 to 1991, and then the Croatian First League since its foundation in 1992.<\/em><\/p>\n

Dinamo Zagreb was founded on 26 April 1911 in order to replace the three very popular Zagreb football clubs (HA\u0160K<\/a>,\u00a0Gra\u0111anski<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Concordia<\/a>) which had been disbanded following the end of\u00a0World War II<\/a>. Dinamo entered the\u00a0Yugoslav First League<\/a>\u00a0in its inaugural\u00a01946\u201347 season<\/a>, finishing as runners-up. In their second season in Yugoslav top flight in\u00a01947\u201348<\/a>\u00a0they finished as Yugoslav champions which was their first major trophy. The club won three more league titles and seven\u00a0Yugoslav Cups<\/a>\u00a0before they left the Yugoslav league in 1991 amid the\u00a0breakup of Yugoslavia<\/a>\u00a0and formation of the\u00a0Croatian football league system<\/a>. Dinamo are also the only Croatian club with European silverware, having won the\u00a01966\u201367 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup<\/a>\u00a0by defeatingLeeds United<\/a>\u00a0in the final. They also finished runners-up in the same competition in\u00a01963<\/a>\u00a0when they lost toValencia<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Until the early 1990s its foundation year was considered to be 1945 but amid political turmoil during the breakup of Yugoslavia the club began claiming direct lineage to pre-WWII clubs\u00a0Gra\u0111anski Zagreb<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0HA\u0160K<\/a>. In order to reflect this in June 1991 it was renamed\u00a0HA\u0160K Gra\u0111anski<\/b>, which lasted until February 1993 when it was renamed\u00a0Croatia Zagreb<\/b>. They won five league titles and participated in the\u00a01998\u201399<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a01999\u20132000<\/a>UEFA Champions League<\/a>\u00a0group stages carrying that name before reverting to\u00a0Dinamo Zagreb<\/b>\u00a0in February 2000. Although the subject was dropped for a while, in 2011 club management increasingly began claiming that Dinamo is the direct descendant of Gra\u0111anski (which had originally been founded in 1911 and disbanded in 1945) and in April that year decided to prepend the adjective “Gra\u0111anski” to the club’s official name, turning it into the present-day GNK Dinamo Zagreb (Gra\u0111anski nogometni klub Dinamo Zagreb\u00a0or “Dinamo Zagreb Citizens’ Football Club”).<\/em><\/p>\n

The team’s traditional colour is\u00a0royal blue<\/a>, which has been replaced for European matches in recent times with the darker\u00a0navy blue<\/a>. The club’s biggest rivals are\u00a0Hajduk Split<\/a>, and matches between the two teams are referred to as “Eternal Derby<\/a>“. Dinamo are currently reigning Croatian league champions having won their ninth consecutive Prva HNL title in the\u00a02013\u201314 season<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

As an aside, I found this bit interesting,which made me wonder if another club, a little closer to home, has used them as a financial model…<\/p>\n

Dinamo Zagreb is a registered\u00a0corporate personhood<\/a>,[16]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0more precisely a\u00a0nonprofit organization<\/a>\u00a0that, unlike the football clubs organized as\u00a0limited companies<\/a>, does not\u00a0issue shares<\/a>, and, consistently with the\u00a0Croatian law<\/a>\u00a0for citizens’ associations,[17]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0does not pay\u00a0income tax<\/a>.[18]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Consequently, the club is obliged to issue publicly assessible memberships. Each\u00a0legally capable<\/a>\u00a0member of Dinamo Zagreb has an equal say in its democratic processes, for example, the elections for therepresentatives<\/a>\u00a0in the chairmanship of the club.[17]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n

The club’s annual budget for the\u00a02012\u201313 season<\/a>\u00a0was between 20[19]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0and 25 million euros,[20]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0though the\u00a0following season<\/a>\u00a0it was intentionally halved to \u20ac11\u201312 million, drastically reducing the club’s\u00a0operating expenditure<\/a>.[19]<\/a><\/sup>[21]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0The club also limited its wage budget, so that the currently highest individual player salary is \u20ac400,000 annually,[19]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0although in recent years first-team players like\u00a0Josip \u0160imuni\u0107<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ante Rukavina<\/a>\u00a0earned as much as \u20ac650,000\u2013670,000 per season.[22]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n

The members of an initiative\u00a0Zajedno za Dinamo\u00a0[Together for Dinamo], composed of Dinamo Zagreb’s supporters, have been claiming that the club was silentlyprivatised<\/a>\u00a0by its executive president\u00a0Zdravko Mami\u0107<\/a>, and that it functions as an evidently unlawful “public limited<\/a>\u00a0citizens’ association”. Subsequently, the\u00a0tax exemption<\/a>\u00a0granted to the club by the\u00a0constitutional law<\/a>\u00a0came under heavy criticism, particularly in the light of the club’s lucrative\u00a0transfers<\/a>\u00a0arranged at the start of the 2000s.\u00a0Jutarnji list<\/a>\u00a0journalist Romana Eibl asserted that during this period the club had as much as 1.36 billion\u00a0kuna<\/a>\u00a0of untaxed\u00a0revenue<\/a>, partly from selling its players for exorbitant prices, while approximately 360 million kuna were received from the\u00a0public funds<\/a>. The former director of the club Damir Vrbanovi\u0107 argued that the transfers do not offer a long-term source of revenue for the club, and that the club is therefore justified in remaining a nonprofit organization.[18]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n

In spite of all criticism, Mami\u0107 is genuinely praised for being unprecedent in arranging some of the club’s most profitable transfers of the Croatian players to top European clubs.[23]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0These include the transfers[note 1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0of\u00a0Bo\u0161ko Balaban<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Aston Villa<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac7.8 million in 2001,\u00a0Eduardo<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Arsenal<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac13.5 million and\u00a0Vedran \u0106orluka<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Manchester City<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac13 million in 2007,\u00a0Luka Modri\u0107<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac21 million in 2008,\u00a0Dejan Lovren<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Lyon<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac8 million and\u00a0Mario Mand\u017euki\u0107<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Wolfsburg<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac7 million in 2010, and an 18 year-old\u00a0Mateo Kova\u010di\u0107<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0Inter Milan<\/a>\u00a0for \u20ac11 million in 2013.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Thier current form is a bit wobbly as well, and Celtic could have a chance here to take massive steps towards the last sixteen with a convincing win. anything else wouldn’t be a disaster, but it would have a terrible impact on morale. The home form of the hoops thus far this season has been poorer than any time in the last fifteen years or so, and is unacceptable.<\/p>\n

They are without a win in three, while Celtic are gunning for a third consecutive win this season for the first time. and its only October.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, anthony Stokes commented that he hadn’t been told much , up to that point, about Zagreb by boss Ronny Deila. He added that he was sure that would change as the game approaches, which I found quite encouraging.<\/p>\n

It means that the players will go into the game with any information still fairly fresh in their minds, which will help concentration, because if there are any areas that need working on the pitch, its concentration.<\/p>\n

So, there we have some praise for Deila and one of his decisions , and since he got a result in Salzburg, whatever you think of the performance, you have to trust him to get it right tonight.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has sat near me at a game will tell you, players go from hero to zero and back again in my eyes quicker than a BBC presenter out the back door when theres a knock on the front one.<\/p>\n

Todays title, in Norwegian , translates as Frustrated Ronny Lashes Out, although my Scandinavian language abilities may have faded over the years, and it could also mean Man Found In Washing Machine After Eating Hamster, so I beg forgiveness for any inaccuracies…<\/p>\n

Tomorrows title may well yet be ” I’ve always liked Ronny! ”<\/p>\n

Ahead of the game, however, there are signs that the pressure and criticism are getting to the Norwegian, and it happened when he was asked if Leigh Griffiths would be involved tonight;<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all he has to up his fitness. That\u2019s something he is also aware of. He\u2019s a good player and he scores goals. But I know he can be much sharper and stay on top of his game for 90 minutes. Once he has that he\u2019ll be so much better.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Fair enough, he’s the gaffer, and he at least appears ready to stand or fall by his own decisions…<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to do something with a big club and you don\u2019t do that in days or weeks. You do it in months or years. But are we talking Scotland or are we talking Europe? To win in Scotland we can do the same things as before. But to succeed in Europe, you have to adapt to Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you tell me that a player can be three or four kilos too heavy and play against Ronaldo then good luck.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI get irritated discussing it. You have to understand the fitness is unbelievable out there. If you see Gareth Bale, that\u2019s Champions League level. So are we not going to try to adapt to that? Do you think Andy Murray eats chips?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not easy for a Norwegian to say. If van Gaal was coming in and saying all these things you would be sitting there nodding your heads.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0The stress is getting to him. Thats obvious, and its not hard to understand why he feels frustrated with the Scottish media, and with supporters who doubt his methods. He clearly believes in what he is doing, and deserves praise for that.<\/p>\n

\u00a0However, the PR department at Celtic have scored a huge own goal here. What has happened is somehow they have allowed Ronny to be exposed to the press vultures who taunted and teased their way to getting a reaction.<\/p>\n

Which led to him criticising players and their habits on the eve of a big game.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Someone in PR needs to find a wage packet with “P45 Enclosed ” written on it for that one.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Celtic have a few players missing tonight, Charlie mulgrew, Mikael Lustig , Adam Matthews and James Forrest are all injured, John Guidetti is ineligible, and there are doubts over the fitness of Kris commons and Stefan Scepovic, and just doubts in general over Efe Ambrose.<\/p>\n
