At lunchtime today, live on BT Sports, Celtic face Dundee at Dens Park. Theres a lot going on off the field that we’ll come to later, but on the field, the pressure is on to secure a win, or at least a goal, so that we can remember what it feels like.<\/p>\n

Celtic have failed to find the net in their last two outings, and not scoring in three would see ronny Deila needing chopper cover to make it back to his car.<\/p>\n

Suddenly, theres a crisis at Celtic, a crisis of confidence that is, where no one is accepting any sort of responsibility and everyone is blaming everyone else.<\/p>\n

The players are blaming the manager, the manager says its the players, and Peter Lawwell says its because Rangers going down has cost the club \u00a310m.<\/p>\n

How about everyone just shuts up and concentrates on getting the team back to winning ways ?<\/p>\n

Dundee have won just one of their four games so far this season, whereas Celtic have won two out of three. A glance at the table tells another story , though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Dundee are unbeaten so far this season, and this is by no means a guaranteed three points.<\/p>\n

Deila has to get the show back on the road, very quickly. Celtic are seven points behind leaders Inverness, with two games in hand. We can’t even take comfort in the fact that Ally McCoist is their manager, because he isn’t.<\/p>\n

The manager and the CEO have been locked in the offices of the Sunday Mail this weekend, as they attempt to outdo each other in the “Round Britain Talking Shite ” competition.<\/p>\n

And it’s a close run thing at this stage;<\/p>\n

Deila began, telling us about how he has tried to get players in, but when he spoke to English based players he found;<\/p>\n

\u201cThe problem was salaries.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI think the same names you\u2019re thinking in your head, and that the supporters are thinking, but when they take the call they start laughing.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe difference between the big leagues and Scotland is so unbelievable, you have no chance.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cSo we can just forget the English Premier League and Championship because it is so hard. ”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Shame he didn’t strike those leagues off before he brought in Berget.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen you have to either rent players or wait to see what happens with the squads of the biggest clubs and get something in the end. That\u2019s the reality and it\u2019s hard to understand.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s one reason we are waiting so long for things \u2013 the big clubs are getting the signings they want now but we have to wait for opportunities.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

But he’s hopeful that we’ll be ready for the Europa League ….<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will have more options by then, different types. The balance in the squad hasn\u2019t been right.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are missing quick crossers and wingers, we need a target player and I think Scepovic will bring that.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cCould he have made a difference against Maribor? Of course \u2013 but it\u2019s not like a computer when you can put him in the team and it\u2019s all good.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to get them fit \u2013 Scepovic hasn\u2019t played for a long time so he needs time to get his fitness up.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Another one who hasn’t played for a long time ? No wonder the rest of the squad are pissed off with him.<\/p>\n

Oh, and Scepovic is going to wait until the last minute before joining Celtic, in the hope something better comes along. I know exactly what I would be telling him.<\/p>\n

\u00a0We can’t afford to wait on him. Simple, either he signs now or the offer is withdrawn and we get someone else in.<\/p>\n

Celtic’s deal with Magners and Champions League run proves we don’t need Rangers, says Peter Lawwell<\/span><\/em>

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell believes that Wednesday\u2019s announcement of his club\u2019s new sponsorship agreement with Magners proves that his side do not need Rangers as a commercial partner and, with their city rivals currently making a new beginning in the Third Division, he claims that he does not miss the world-renowned Glasgow derbies either.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>

There were calls from shareholders at Celtic\u2019s annual general meeting to negotiate a separate shirt deal from Rangers for the first time since 1999, with many supporters of the champions believing that the Old Firm brand had become toxic.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>
Lawwell revealed that the Magners contract had been agreed before the AGM but, for reasons of client confidentiality, could not be revealed at that time. However, he was keen to emphasise his conviction that Celtic did not need Rangers to thrive.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>
\u201cI don\u2019t want to talk about other clubs,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are not defined by any other club. We have our own brand, our own values and our own traditions.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/em>
In 2011 there were, due to cup ties and replays, a record eight Old Firm meetings during the calendar year and, barring the pair being thrown together in the later stages of the William Hill Scottish Cup, the current season is the first since 1890\/91 not to feature a meeting of the great rivals.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>
Lawwell, though, does not pine for the fixture. \u201cNot really: there are pluses and there are minuses, clearly,\u201d he said. \u201cYou miss the pluses and you don\u2019t miss the minuses.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Could this claim that the death of the old Rangers be linked to the story that the SFA and SPFL are about to bail the new club out by offering them advance revenues ?<\/p>\n
