So, before the Italy game last night, England had already been virtually guaranteed a spot in the last sixteen.<\/p>\n
Wayne Rooney, and to a lesser extent Steven Gerrard, emerged as the latest scapegoats as \u00a0England were beaten 2-1 by \u00a0Italy.
