Today we have a Scottish Government commissioned\u00a0report<\/a> <\/strong>that confirms the\u00a0belief that Catholic schools DO NOT<\/strong> contribute to sectarianism ( we assume you can tell the difference between contribute and be the target or the excuse for sectarianism here) but sadly for us here at Etims, the report does not highlight any exceptional learning opportunities\u00a0 for Catholic School pupils and therefore we put our hands up and say fair dues.<\/p>\n The report\u00a0as noted on\u00a0the BBC<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>states ‘Denominational schools are not the cause of sectarianism’.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n The report then goes on to clarify “We do not believe that sectarianism stems from, or is the responsibility of, denominational schooling, or, specifically, Catholic schools, nor that sectarianism would be eradicated by closing such institutions.”<\/em><\/p>\n It added: “All schools should be encouraged to create imaginative anti-sectarian partnerships and develop opportunities for pupils to share classes and facilities.”<\/em><\/p>\n The report does make interesting and welcome reading and quite a few cups of tea may be sprayed over keyboards in Scotland after certain mindsets read the key points.<\/p>\n The report also includes a further clarification worth noting here :<\/p>\n \u00a0“What remains is largely the belief or perception that the ‘them’ and ‘us’ opposition is still alive and well and the negative consequences of that world view.”<\/em><\/p>\n “Three assumptions need to be challenged: that sectarianism can simply be equated with overtly aggressive bigotry; that it is entirely the same as anti-Catholicism; and that it is entirely the same as anti-Irish racism<\/em>.”<\/p>\n And just when mild mannered Orangemen who wondered what sort of banter they were now going to indulge down the Lodge tonight, thought they were safe, the Report threw in another whammy for them:<\/p>\n On marches and parades, the working group said it recognised the right to political and cultural expression.<\/p>\n But it stressed: “No rights are absolute in themselves and they should always be enjoyed with regard to the impact they have on others.”<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n So in respect to todays report, we here at Etims will look to immediately redesign our famous\u00a0\u00a0Blame Catholic Schools T-Shirt<\/strong> <\/a>and get it up on the Etims Store<\/a> <\/strong>straight away.<\/p>\n![\"blame-catholic-schools-comfort-t\"](\"https:\/\/etims.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/blame-catholic-schools-comfort-t.png\")
