The \u201carticle<\/a><\/strong>\u201d written by Hugh Keevins which appeared in the Record online a couple of weeks ago was the most ridiculous and biased piece of journalism I have read in quite a while, and there are many constant contenders.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keevins in his article uses expressions like vigilantes and stroppy to refer to Celtic supporters. He claims that they want the Board to take the SFA to task for not putting Rangers out of business and out of existence. We all know that Rangers did go out of existence so the crux of Keevins\u2019 point is irrelevant. He totally misses the point that Celtic fans are not asking for a mob rule but an investigation into rule breaking that has a negative effect on all of Scottish football.<\/span><\/p>\n

However the irony of his demented ramblings (not ours), which is obviously lost on Mr Keevins, is that he says the democratic process means nothing to these dissident shareholders and they would lob a grenade (a very disturbing allegory) into the boardroom and create anarchy. Mr Keevins fails to realize this is in fact a democratic process. We are going to vote whether or not we ask the Board to make a case to the SFA regarding the Association\u2019s rule breaking. This, Mr Keevins, is indeed a serious issue for many football fans and does not make the person who holds that view either demented or a dissident. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, the shareholders who do hold this view have spoken to other likeminded shareholders and in full respect for democracy have asked for it to be voted on at the next AGM. I can safely say that if it gets voted down the people that brought the point will respect the democratic process and will not strop, lob hand grenades or whatever nonsense Mr Keevins thinks might happen. I don\u2019t believe Celtic fans will send bullets in the post to the board nor send homemade explosive devices to the shareholders who disagree with them.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Keevins fails to recognize that in a democracy you can have disagreements with others but to ridicule those who have a different opinion to you is anti democratic. Those who have raised the point are not dissidents (with the negative overtones that word alone brings) neither are they demented nor stroppy. They are not vigilantes and they are certainly not anarchists because quite simply they are expressing an idea and using the democratic process to see if there are enough other like minded shareholders to take action on something they feel strongly about.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe it is the democratic process that annoys Mr Keevins and how Celtic and the Celtic supporters show people like him what it is to be truly democratic and fair.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the record I voted against this point, but I respect the opinion of those who voted for it.<\/span><\/p>\n
