If the flurry of rumours that hit cyberspace are to be believed , then Celtic will sign Derk Boerrigter, so I suppose I’d better learn to spell it.<\/p>\n
The Daily Record got hold of Frank de Boer, who featured in an amusing song sung at Celtic park a few years ago-can’t remember the exact word used to describe him, but I think \u00a0it rhymed with his first name- as he is currently the Ajax boss, and used to play for First Rangers, meaning he is ideally placed to comment on the player, but not, of course, on EBTs.<\/p>\n

A wide boy with some fantastic speed ? Well, it is Amsterdam, after all.<\/p>\n

Derk has been in the Dutch squad and would have played for Holland if it wasn\u2019t for a problem with his back.<\/p>\n
He was already in the team hotel but had to pull out of the trip because of the injury. The doctors told him he couldn\u2019t play for a while and he had a difficult spell after that.<\/p>\n
Technically, Derk is fantastic and he has a lot of ability. He\u2019s one of the best crossers of the ball in Holland.<\/p>\n
Maybe his work-rate is something he can improve on if he wants to fulfil his potential. But he\u2019s going to a club which breeds a good mentality.<\/p>\n
He\u2019ll learn a lot at Celtic. I know what it\u2019s like at an Old Firm club. In fact, it\u2019s the same at any club in Britain.<\/p>\n
The fans there expect you to work very hard for the team. They won\u2019t accept anything less. So if the Celtic supporters think Derk isn\u2019t doing it for their team they will let him know.\u201d<\/p>\n
Which tells us very little, really.<\/p>\n
Newsheerenveen on twitter will let us know when Alfred Finnbogasson signs, having seen its total number of followers increase at an incredible rate \u00a0over the last \u00a0twenty four hours.<\/p>\n

But its not all doom and gloom, according to RTE, Wolves have turned down a \u00a3500,000 bid for Kevin Doyle.<\/p>\n
You have to admit, Lennon and Lawwell are studying the full spectrum of striking ability as they attempt to replace Gary Hooper.<\/p>\n
There are others on the list, such as Belgian international Jelle Vossen, with Ghenk apparently having turned down an 8m euros bid, which doesn’t sound like Celtic…<\/p>\n
But then again, the bid for Finnbogasson is supposed to be 7 million.<\/p>\n
Peter Lawwell needs to come home. Somebody has been tampering with his coffee and cakes.<\/p>\n
Shane Lowry was at Celtic Park yesterday, as he is in place to replace Kelvin Wilson when he goes back to Nottingham. Well, a photo of someone who looks like Lowry was on the web yesterday. Wilson, though, is reported to be struggling to settle in Glasgow. He apparently misses the sounds of gunfire and police sirens that make Nottingham unique amongst British cities. Forrest are also going to sign Charlie Austin, when really Steve Austin is the sort of person who you would want around you in that city.<\/p>\n
So, thats the speculation, along with several other stories too silly too mention, which I won’t mention.<\/p>\n
Joe Ledley has spoken about his future with Celtic, re-assuring those of us who wondered if he had a future at Celtic. Especially with the Mirror story, and other bits of speculation , however unfounded.<\/p>\n
“We still haven’t actually spoken to the club at the moment.<\/p>\n
“My agent has been away and the club has been pretty busy as well with sorting out new players.<\/p>\n
“Hopefully I will be next and sort something out. In the next couple of weeks, if we could sort something out, it would be brilliant.<\/p>\n
“At the moment I’m just concentrating on qualifying for Europe and doing brilliantly for the club and playing well.”<\/p>\n
Which is good enough for me.<\/p>\n
Chris Sutton can’t help himself, can he ? The one time Celtic hero- ach, \u00a0he still is-gave us the most honest assessment of Gary Hoopers move yet.<\/p>\n

For those of you lucky enough to live in Glasgow and the surrounding area, Radio Clyde wheeled out its football phone in last night for a new series. The usual hosts, the usual callers, and the usual \u00a0topics. The usual shite.<\/p>\n

This season, lets make a decent effort to ignore that show, we all know it has a limited appeal, and a pro Ibrox attitude to please that lot, and to make us phone in to complain.<\/p>\n
Surely we are a wee bit cleverer than to fall for that one ?<\/p>\n
