It seems the Times are hell bent on finding a scapegoat in their current reportage on the “malicious prosecution ” story…<\/p>\n

The officer who led a disastrous police investigation into the takeover of Rangers FC was openly partisan and appeared determined to pursue those he regarded as enemies of the club he supported, witnesses have claimed.<\/em><\/p>\n

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Robertson, 54, was tasked with leading the inquiry into allegations of fraud linked to the collapse and sale of the Ibrox club.<\/em><\/p>\n

This year the Court of Session found that he had behaved in an \u201cintimidatory and threatening\u201d way, had given evidence that was \u201cpatently untrue\u201d and had conducted himself in a \u201creprehensible\u201d manner.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instead of looking at those who have cost the taxpayer millions and millions of pounds and investigating the events that led to that, they’re blaming the policeman who tried to get to the bottom of it.<\/p>\n

One can only wonder why, and why now ?<\/p>\n

His insistence on playing duds from the EPL should signal the end of his tenure, and the inclusion of inexperienced players such as Gilmour and Hickey for such a high profile tie was inexplicable, and don;t get me started on Lyndon Dykes, who has made a career out of bullying Chris Jullien…<\/p>\n

Celtic supporters often moan about the amount of caps given to the Lisbon Lions, only 113 or so in total.<\/p>\n

What is not taken into account is that manager jock Stein wasn’t overly keen on his players being involved with Scotland, and would often withdraw them from squads, especially if there was, and there often was, an important European game ahead.<\/p>\n

With international football even more of a dead duck these days, there’s another leaf for ange Postecoglou to take out of\u00a0 the great man’s book.<\/p>\n

The defender looked to be heading for the Ibrox exit with his deal set to expire but he delighted fans by penning an extension<\/em><\/p>\n

With two trophies in four years, one would think he’d conquered this particular addiction.<\/p>\n

Goldson had more or less made it clear he was leaving, and sat back to wait for offers that matched his talent. It seems he may have misjudged his own appeal.<\/p>\n

There is no mention of what they are paying him, but it will be significant. That means he will probably be alongside John Soutar at the heart of their defence next year, especially given that they’re touting Calvin Bassey.<\/p>\n

But it’s a hell of a contract, whatever way you look at it…. as Goldson himself says…<\/p>\n
