{"id":17601,"date":"2022-04-02T05:16:19","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T04:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/etims.net\/?p=17601"},"modified":"2022-04-02T05:16:19","modified_gmt":"2022-04-02T04:16:19","slug":"celtic-diary-saturday-april-2-bad-moon-rising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/etims.net\/?p=17601","title":{"rendered":"Celtic Diary Saturday April 2: Bad Moon Rising ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We do seem to be looking forward a little more than usual to the Glasgow derby , the latest of which takes place tomorrow lunchtime, at Ibrox stadium.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that&#8217;s because we&#8217;ve just had a week of international football, a poor substitute at the best of times, or perhaps it&#8217;s because the break has been injury free and given a couple of players a chance to get ready for this game.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kyogo Fuhruhashi has been added to the squad, and although it&#8217;s unlikely he&#8217;ll start, he may well be given a chance to finish things.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Even just having him around helps morale, as Ange Postecoglou pointed out;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-7\"><em>&#8220;He&#8217;s already had a massive impact on our season and once he&#8217;s up and ready and out there again I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;ll be looking to make a similar impact.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><em>&#8220;He&#8217;s buzzing as well because he gets an opportunity to be involved and do the things he loves, so it&#8217;s great.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Such is the strength of the current squad that our top scorer is unlikely to to shift our in form number nine, Giorgios Giakoumakis, or his partners Jota and\u00a0 Daezen Maeda,\u00a0 as they have built up an understanding recently, learning to play well together.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Forrest, Kyogo and Abada may well come on as a unit to replace the entire front line to work on an already tiring Ibrox defence&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Maybe that&#8217;s why we&#8217;re looking forward to it more than usual.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">Did someone say 7-0 ?<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media0.giphy.com\/media\/cFkRdozf0Df4A\/200w.gif?cid=ecf05e471y2iiye9k7iskizvv9frz5ogibnvgqy6ycojzz0o&amp;rid=200w.gif&amp;ct=g\" alt=\"black and white dancing GIF\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Well, 7-1.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0I forgot about their penalty.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0They&#8217;re not so enthusiastic over the river though. Alfredo Morelos isn&#8217;t available, the extra weight he&#8217;s been carrying has knackered his knees and he needs crutches to get about. that leaves them short up front and reduces their options for that penalty.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Ryan Kent has been practicing at the swimming baths, and to be fair he&#8217;s pretty adept at leaving his leg to drag over an outstretched opponent.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0While all the Celts seem to be in great condition mentally and physically, there are doubts over both conditions within the walls of Mordor.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0On the pitch, Ryan Jack is probably their most influential player, and he called out Georgios Giakoumakis for his &#8220;disrespectful &#8221; comments, complaining that the Celt was being disrespectful.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0It&#8217;s probably a good job Jack won&#8217;t hear the team talk&#8230;<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Reo Hatate also rates Celtic higher than &#8220;rangers &#8220;, which is all Giakoumakis did, but it&#8217;s clearly rattled them, and it may be that the statements are pinned to the dressing room wall to inspire the &#8220;rangers &#8221; take all three points, they&#8217;ll fall back on the &#8221; Old Firm &#8221; uniqueness myth, and since it&#8217;s not the Old Firm and is simply the world&#8217;s newest major derby. that to me seems a little optimistic.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Celtic are likely to start this game pretty much the same way they started the previous clash between the two&#8230;at full pace, and that is likely to get the same early outcome.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0&#8220;rangers &#8221; don&#8217;t handle their own support very well..apart from when it comes to fleecing a few quid out of them or just telling them what they want to hear, and are clearly worried about the crowd&#8217;s behaviour.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0A recent game against Dundee was stopped while the fans threw toilet rolls in protest to the club\/company taking part in the Sydney Cup as a support act to Celtic, which is the accepted narrative, although the real reason is the heightened use of child abuse vitriol being hurled towards Celtic and their fans on social media, which has replaced even their anti catholic or Irish bile for the moment.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0To calm their fans and encourage their venom towards Celtic, &#8220;rangers &#8221; have pulled out of the Australian tournament, producing a fairly vague statement outlining none of their reasons&#8230;<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Not that it really matters, should Celtic race into a three goal lead early in the game, all hell will break loose, but once again, they&#8217;ve been\u00a0 told them what they wanted to hear&#8230;<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p class=\"summary\"><em>Rangers can confirm the Club will not be participating in the Sydney Super Cup in November 2022.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After it became clear the tournament organisers were unwilling to fulfil their commitments to Rangers, we have, with immediate effect, terminated the Club\u2019s agreement with the organisers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speculation surrounds the reasons, one of which was that the organisers refused to use the Old Firm tag, but it can&#8217;t be that<\/p>\n<p><em>\u200f\u200f\u200e \u200e<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FPMVB6dXEAoM6mv?format=jpg&amp;name=small\" alt=\"Image\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Given that they will face a significant financial penalty for pulling out, especially if they have been paid a percentage up front, then it seems unlikely they&#8217;ll actually pull out.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0What&#8217;s more likely is that after the three games against Celtic, they&#8217;ll say they couldn&#8217;t get out of the agreement and are playing &#8220;reluctantly &#8221; or &#8220;under protest &#8220;<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0In a wider context, they&#8217;ve just closed an important and lucrative income stream, as they&#8217;ve shown themselves to a worldwide market that they cannot be trusted to honour an agreement, something Hummel, Sports Direct and others could certainly confirm.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\u00a0Our media won&#8217;t cover that sort of story, and instead will help promote the only pre season option now open to them, an Ibrox Cup featuring Linfield, Hamburg and Police Scotland XI, which will keep the bears happy and the blue pound rolling.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".24plhehu9yc.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-8\">\n<p>As the rest of the world sighs in relief&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the Greek city Times explains today, over in Sydney<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 class=\"amp-post-title\">Sydney saved from Rangers fans as support act backs out of<\/h1>\n<h1 class=\"amp-post-title\">Ange Postecoglou\u2019s Homecoming Tour<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"pt-cntn\">\n<div class=\"pt-addthis\"><\/div>\n<p><em>The Sydney Super Cup, or more commonly known in Australia as Ange Postecoglou\u2019s Homecoming Tour, has been saved from having to deal with the consequences of dealing with Rangers fans.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-18hrynw\"><em>Rangers withdrew from the four-team tournament after supporters of the Ibrox side protested and expressed their unwillingness to participate in a friendly tournament as the support act for Ange\u2019s Celtic FC \u2013 despite the generous monetary compensation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And for this, Rangers fans have inadvertently saved the harbour city and the Sydney Super Cup from themselves.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>One cannot read a Scottish football forum or social media without a plethora of Rangers fans disgustingly exploiting victims of child abuse to disparage their Glasgow rivals.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>At least 22 former Celtic Boys Club players, with likely more to join, have launched a class action lawsuit against Celtic FC for historical abuse against them. Four men associated with Celtic Boys Club or Celtic have been convicted of abuse.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Celtic sexual abuse scandal is part of a wider football sexual abuse scandal that has embroiled many Scottish clubs, such as Rangers, Hibernian and Partick Thistle, and even English clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>For their part, Rangers made a public and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/news\/rangers-apology-child-abuse-scotland\/tAaOTRqVqTlP\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sincere apology<\/a>\u00a0to anyone personally affected by child abuse after the Scottish FA\u2019s independent review was released.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The abuse of children is something that should not be given a moment of tolerance and all those guilty should face the maximum punishment allowed in the country.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In the same manner, the weaponisation of child abuse victims to disparage or \u201cbanter\u201d should not be tolerated, yet as already said, one cannot browse any online medium relating to Scottish football without seeing Rangers fans exploiting child abuse victims.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>An administrator of the Follow Follow website, which is an official media partner of Rangers FC, announced on their forum that the \u201cRolf Harris Cup organisers hit back\u201d, clearly replacing \u201cSydney Super\u201d with the name of the convicted Australian paedophile.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"i-amphtml-intrinsic-sizer\" style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; outline: 0px; font-size: 18px; vertical-align: baseline; background: transparent; max-width: 100%; display: block !important;\" role=\"presentation\" src=\"data:;base64,<svg height=\"334px\" width=\"1107px\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" version=\"1.1\"\/>&#8221; alt=&#8221;&#8221; aria-hidden=&#8221;true&#8221; \/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"i-amphtml-fill-content has locked out Scottish mainstream media unless they pay a ridiculous \u00a325,000 for \u201caccess\u201d), then Sydney can count itself lucky that such a vile supporter base have forced the club to not be a support act for Ange\u2019s Homecoming Tour.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What is worse is that this media partner has thousands of comments pontificating on their forum about the Celtic child abuse scandal in favour of the victims, without once considering whether the victims want to be used as a football sledge \u2013 even to the point that forum members suggested making banners for the victims.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Move to Facebook or Twitter and it is equally horrific, a never ending barrage of child abuse victims being used as a form of sledging against Celtic and their fans, despite even their own club apologising for their role in the UK football child sex scandal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Of course some Rangers fan will pass off their exploitation of child abuse victims as care and concern for said victims, but one can\u2019t help notice their near silence about domestic abuse victims or for victims of other forms of abuse.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If it is so normalised for Rangers fans to sledge their rivals by exploiting the victims of child abuse, we should be thankful that they are not a part of Ange\u2019s Homecoming Tour, a day that will certainly be joyful and does not need to be tarnished with banners with the only purpose being to antagonise Celtic fans through the exploitation of child abuse victims.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This does not even take into account the inevitable sectarian songs that would be heard ringing around Accor Stadium in western Sydney, or perhaps even targeted racist chants like Celtic star striker Kyogo Furuhashi has already experienced, and almost certainly violence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Either way, we thankfully will not find out after Rangers fans, outraged about being a supporting act, successfully convinced their club to pull out of Ange\u2019s Homecoming Tour.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In this way, as Celtic branches out globally to their fans and promotes the club to new markets in Australia and Asia, Rangers appears to be content in only being a club for the reactionary of Britain and Northern Ireland.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>BY\u00a0Alexandros
