It seems that Eddie Howe will be announced as Celtic manager early next week. He’s agreed in principle to take over the reins, and with Lawwell out of the way, it’s unlikely there will be any last minute hiccups…..<\/p>\n

Sort of ironic, in a way, given that Lawwell is a man of principles….<\/p>\n

This despite late gossip concerning Crystal Palace, which a quick google search revealed is a football team in Londonland, and not the final instalment in Disney’s Aladdin franchise.<\/p>\n

Having received the assurances he wanted and checking that the removal men have been booked for Peter Lawwell’s office furniture, Howe is ready to take on the challenge of putting the Celtic brand back together.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Whether he will be in charge for the rest of this season remains to be seen, but given the tales of a dysfunctional dressing room, the sooner he lays down the new rukes the better, and there is still a Scottish Cup to be won, starting this weekend with a game against Falkirk.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Celtic must be wary of the lower league sides in this competition, as they have already sprung a few surprises this season, not only in the cup, as Brora Rangers showed with their win over Hearts, but with “rangers ” , who came up on the rails to win a league title after just a few years as a senior outfit.<\/p>\n

You never know whats around the corner, and I suppose thats what makes our game great.<\/p>\n

Whilst there has been a collective sigh of relief around Timdom, one has to hope that the enormity of the task ahead has been fully disclosed to Howe, because if it hasn’t, he’s likely to throw a sickie on day one and go into self isolation for the rest of his contract.<\/p>\n

With the mainstream media lining up to discredit him, he will have to learn quickly to arrange a couple of words, off and fuck, into the correct order to deal with the crap thats coming up.<\/p>\n

Even Talkshite Radio got into the act, in an attempt to drive their audience figures above single figures to please their advertisers…<\/p>\n

CELTIC fans will be hoping Eddie Howe brings them as much success as Brendan Rodgers.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

But for me he could just as easily be the next Tony Mowbray.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I remember a similar headline when a Liverpool youth coach landed the Ibrox job….<\/p>\n

Those supporters seem to be welcoming this appointment as the second coming.<\/em><\/p>\n

But there\u2019s a real danger this job is too big for someone who has never worked for a club where the only thing that matters is winning.<\/em><\/p>\n

Howe did a good job at Bournemouth \u2014 but there is no comparison with Glasgow and the intensity of working in that environment.<\/em><\/p>\n

Does Howe know what he\u2019ll be letting himself in for?<\/em><\/p>\n

Is he prepared for the expectation and intense level of scrutiny he\u2019ll be under?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I’d argue that he’s more than capable of dealing with pundits such as boyd, who construct arguments as though English isn’t actually their first language.<\/p>\n

Another quick to criticise was Jermaine Defoe, ( remember him ? )who had a pop at howe’s managerial ability…<\/p>\n

One of Howe’s first jobs will be to heal a fractured dressing room. We’ve alluded to certain cliques before , and we are fairly sure he won’t have too much trouble in identifying them, though a working knowledge of French would be advisable…<\/p>\n

Cameron Harper, the young forward who returned to the\u00a0 USA, outlined what we already all knew….<\/p>\n

I think that’s one thing at Celtic that sometimes did lack, in terms of our reserves or our first team – there were kind of cliques and there wasn’t a full togetherness.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

That will go down as the understatement of the season….<\/p>\n

A game against Falkirk was what ultimately ended Tommy Burns’s Celtic tenure, and perhaps it’;s fitting that it may be the beginning of a new influence on our club.<\/p>\n
