Although football has been suspended for now, there is no indication that the 2019-20 season has finished.<\/p>\n

Fair enough, it all but has at the top and of the table, and perhaps would have been even closer to conclusion had Celtic played “rangers ” tomorrow, but it’s all very complicated and things like relegation, prize money and European placings have to be settled in such a way that all of the clubs are happy and no one can accuse the SFA or the SPFL of not acting in everyone’s best interest.<\/p>\n

Celtic said;<\/p>\n

CLEARLY, today’s decision to postpone our match against Rangers FC this Sunday is regrettable. However, the health and well-being of supporters, players and staff will always be of paramount importance. This will always be the focus.<\/em><\/p>\n

Should the league not be concluded, and as far as Celtic are aware it will resume in May or June , “rangers ” will be allocated the champions League place, because they need the money, and Celtic will be relegated to the bottom division because they don’t, and their journey back to the top will spread a few quid around to help the little clubs.<\/p>\n

The players have been told they can have a long weekend, with training suspended until Tuesday at the earliest, but as the current health crisis continues, that’s kind of subject to change at any moment.<\/p>\n

Some outlets claim that the season could be voided, which it won’t , causing merriment among the supporters of one club\/company as in their minds it puts a stop to nine in a row, although even if it is declared null and void, it just means nine will have to wait until next year.<\/p>\n

This must be their new kit for next season, as there is little sign of any interest in their vacnacy for a kit supplier next season.<\/p>\n

While there is conformation that Adidas are taking their turn to produce sub standard kits for Celtic fans to complain about.<\/p>\n

Then again after the piss poor quality from Nike and New Balance, they would have to put in supreme effort to be even worse.<\/p>\n

It would be nice, however if they could produce a replica top that lasts longer than the new deal that was announced yesterday…<\/p>\n

I’ve got my doubts, as you can see in the article, adidas doesn’t have a capital letter, like a club\/company we all know and love…and , of course, their cuddly support…<\/p>\n

In the big scheme of things, it’s not really that important…none of it is.<\/p>\n

What is important is that the game has been cancelled tomorrow, and supporters no longer run the risk of contracting an illness at Ibrox that could possibly be life threatening, and when you add the Coronavirus into the equation, it’s clearly the sensible thing to do.<\/p>\n

At times like this we look for calm and sensible leadership from thise in society that we have chosen to make decisions on our behalf…<\/p>\n

We are probably a week or so away from an emergency national government, unless there was something on the plane that flew into Lombardy from China a couple of nights ago carrying medical experts and plasma from survivors, and we may well be entering a phase in history after which things will never be the same.<\/p>\n

It’s curious that the British government has adopted a policy of letting everyone catch the virus in order that it won;t be so bad the next time round, which they claim is based on the science, when in fact it’s purely based on economics.<\/p>\n

After the illness comes the recession\/depression, and with the stock market tumbling quicker than a Colombian forward they are terrified that they will lose all that money they so doggedly stole from us over the years.<\/p>\n

So, what can we do ?<\/p>\n

Traditionally in times of crisis, the diary has always adopted the stance of laughing at those less fortunate than ourselves when we don;t feel so good.<\/p>\n

So, why should today be any different ?<\/p>\n

With European games cancelled as well, and lucrative tv money not available to “rangers ” for their last hurrah in Leverkusen, as well as all the money lost due to the cancellation of the game tomorrow, it may be that things begin to enter a downward spiral for the club, as it appears the \u00a320m investment from Asia is not all it seems, though there already has been a trial run of around \u00a31m … ( see diaries passsim ) from the same source, and it was all good and all clean.<\/p>\n

Well, it was when they got it back. Or some of it.<\/p>\n

Some of this tittle tattle can be quite outrageous at times, and we only tell you about it so that when you hear it elsewhere you can say you already know it’s made up nonsense from the master of made up nonsense on the interweb.<\/p>\n

But fair play to them, all the food and other perishables that they had ordered in ahead of sunday’s game will be handed out to foodbanks and other charities, and not sold out of the back of car boots on sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, and Kris Boyd, the man paid to offer his views on Scottish football placed his foot firmly in his mouth again when he declared live on television that;<\/p>\n

“We enjoy sport, whichever it would be that you’re associated with.<\/em><\/p>\n

“You enjoy it for what it is, and nobody wants to be going and watching their team behind closed doors.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Presumably he doesn’t understand what “closed doors ” means, which is consistent with his understanding of football in general.<\/p>\n
