In the general direction of &#8220;over there&#8221; .<\/p>\n<p>Iain Bankier, the chairman, spoke out about the recent revelations that Dermot Desmond has another company that set up another company to minimalise his tax returns.<\/p>\n<p><em>As a club we deeply resent being associated with the scuttlebutt that was the Panorama programme last week,\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> \u201cIt has nothing to do with Celtic, nothing to do with the UK tax system &#8211; it had nothing to do anything. In fact it was one of the most boring programmes. If it didn\u2019t have Celtic in the title I\u2019d have switched off half way through. It had 15 minutes of a shopping centre. Boring stuff.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Hardly hitting out. In fact, hardly even waving his arms about.<\/p>\n<p>And scuttlebutt?<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"vg-header\"><em>Definition of\u00a0<span class=\"vg-sm\">scuttlebutt<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n<div class=\"vg\">\n<div class=\"sb has-sn\">\n<div class=\"sense\"><em><span class=\"sn\"><span class=\"num\">1<\/span>a<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"dt \"><strong class=\"mw_t_bc\">:<\/strong>a cask on river<\/p>\n<p>And there&#8217;s a couple which apply to our board as well&#8230;.&#8221;resign&#8221; and &#8220;expendable &#8221;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"vg-header\">Definition of\u00a0<span supporters , are being asked to resign ourselves to the fact that the board of Celtic are resigned to the fact that the SFA have no intention of dealing with the issues surrounding Resolution 12, which , in turn, would lead to calls asking the board to resign.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Which leads us to the other word from 1805.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Expendable.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">\n<h2 class=\"vg-header\">Definition of\u00a0<span class=\"vg-sm\">expendable<\/span><\/h2>\n<div class=\"vg\">\n<div class=\"sb has-sn\">\n<div class=\"sense\"><em><span class=\"dt \"><strong class=\"mw_t_bc\">:<\/strong>that may be\u00a0<a class=\"mw_t_a_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/expended\">expended<\/a>: such as<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><em><span class=\"sn\">a<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"dt \"><strong class=\"mw_t_bc\">:<\/strong>normally used up or consumed in service\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul class=\"vis\">\n<li><em><span class=\"t\"><span class=\"mw_t_wi\">expendable<\/span>\u00a0supplies like pencils and paper<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><em><span class=\"sn\">b<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"dt \"><strong class=\"mw_t_bc\">:<\/strong>more easily or economically replaced than rescued, salvaged, or protected\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Waving the accounts in the air and pointing to our manager isn&#8217;t going to remove the bitter taste that has been left by the SFA antics surrounding the issue.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">A few lines about a tv programme, which is merely indicative of an agenda at the BBC rather than a reporter getting a bit carried away with a non story isn&#8217;t going to satisfy a customer base who take any attack on the good name of Celtic as an attack on themselves.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Neither is accepting that the Resolution 12 issue is being looked at by the compliance officer of the SFA, who hasn&#8217;t reported back yet.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Real pressure needs to be applied by those in charge at Celtic, not just a few lines that will be reported, but hidden behind what appears to have been the main talking point at the meeting.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Someone, presumably a plant by the board to generate headlines, asked why Celtic use bus company Parks of Hamilton, and accused the club of &#8220;subsidising the club across the water &#8220;<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Lawwell replied;<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">\u00a0<em>\u201cWe want to be above all that,\u201d \u201cAnd joining up using Parks of Hamilton to subsidising that other club across the water is a bit of a stretch. On a practical note it is very difficult to find an alternative and I don\u2019t accept we are subsiding Rangers.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Its hard to disagree.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><strong> There are far more effective ways of subsidising the club across the water, such as signing tv contracts which guarantee four games against them a year, charging Celtic fans fifty quid to go to Ibrox and allowing them to cheat their way into the champions League and then waiting for the organisation that allowed that to look into it and see if anyone did anything wrong.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Which is called self questioning, coincidentally another word which first appeared in 1805.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">To the observer, the AGM revealed very little. It simply confirmed that everyone who isn&#8217;t happy should be and the board are struggling to figure out why.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Though it wasn&#8217;t quite their &#8220;Ratner &#8221; moment, had Stewart Regan handed over the draft of what he wants the compliance officer to say on Resolution 12 before the AGM, it would have been a very rough ride for Lawwell et al, and whilst I understand fully that he is just as pissed off about the SFA as we are, the pressure on the SFA must be kept as high as possible.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">And turned up even higher every fortnight or so.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Other wise, the board will become expendable.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">The draft Regan will put forward to the compliance officer ?<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">\u00a0<em>Whilst certain facts have emerged which do cast doubt on the actions of officials during the period in question, there is no doubt that those concerned acted in good faith and could not, without the benefit of facts which later became known, have made any decision other than that which was made.\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><em>\u00a0However, systems have been put in place to ensure that any future misunderstandings or mistakes cannot be repeated, and its now time to accept that lessons have been learned and we can all look forward to the future with a renewed confidence in those who work tirelessly for the good of our game.\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Which will be released shortly after the League Cup final, as long as Celtic win.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">At which point, that&#8217;ll be that for me, and I&#8217;ll be away to watch Leek Town.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Which is just up the road and as far as I know participates in a league where no one gets preferential treatment.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\">Unless, of course, the phrase &#8220;Celtic board hits out &#8221; actually means they have hit out&#8230;.<\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sense\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"first-known-use-explorer\" class=\"first-known-use-explorer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The AGM took place yesterday.
