Celtic supporters were last night awarded the title of “Best Fans In The World ” by world governing body FIFA.<\/p>\n

The announcement came after a three way poll between Celtic, Borussia Dortmund and Copenhagen saw the Glasgow club come out on top.<\/p>\n

FIFA Award<\/a><\/p>\n

Each set of fans had been nominated for a particular instance where they had been shown to be a little bit above and beyond the call of duty.<\/p>\n

Celtic were nominated for the spectacular 360 degree tribute to the Lisbon Lions at the Hearts game on 21 May this year.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Copenhagen had been chosen after they waited to receive the Danish cup until a disabled fan could be there to hold it, and Dortmund for their efforts in accommodating Monaco fans after their bus was bombed.<\/p>\n

Though to be honest, it was a Eurosport that summed up why neutrals probably voted for Celtic..<\/p>\n

Though reading through the headlines in Scotland, you could be forgiven for thinking that this prestigious award wasn;t for the best fans, but for the best display in a football ground..only the Scotsman took enough time to stop howling in rage to correctly describe the honour..<\/p>\n

So not only are they forgiven , they deserve a round of applause.<\/p>\n

So much so in fact, that if I see the paper on sale today I will pick it up, look at it,\u00a0 and put it back, instead of placing it on the shelf next to the toilet tissue, as a less absorbent but more colourful alternative.<\/p>\n

Celtic fans are basking in the glow of last night’s\u00a0FIFA<\/a>\u00a0award and one supporters group are continuing the feel-good factor with their annual food bank appeal.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hoops supporters were ecstatic after their club landed the prestigious best fans’ award in London last night for their tifo display celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions.<\/em><\/p>\n

The win was well received and it also landed\u00a0Celtic<\/a>\u00a0a cool \u00a311k to go along the acclaim.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Green Brigade are looking for donations from supporters ahead of Saturday’s\u00a0Premiership<\/a>match against Kilmarnock on Saturday.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Ah, the Green Brigade.<\/p>\n

Like the errant child they now and again do something that pisses us off, but as the nursery rhyme says,<\/p>\n

When they are good, they are very, very good.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The work that went into that display, in the planning and execution , was fantastic, and they deserve a huge chunk of any credit that is going around.<\/p>\n

Not everyone is happy about the award, which is unfortunate, and its also unfortunate that some of these people have a platform on which to promote their disappointment.<\/p>\n

The irony of Celtic being given a fans award on the same day they’re fined \u00a38,900 by UEFA for a supporter trying to kick Kylian Mbappe…<\/em><\/p>\n

(That’s the 12th time UEFA have punished Celtic in six years, btw)\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

You’d think that with our game short on investment and attention, that any positive would be shouted as a positive from every rooftop in the land.<\/p>\n

However, on the green-with envy-side of Glasgow, supporters were less than pleased for their eastend neighbours.<\/p>\n

Yet they , too, should have been celebrating, having taken the title of the world’s most gullible support.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m actually astounded at how high esteem those mutants seem to be held in European circles despite the sheer amount of UEFA charges because of them.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
