Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round\u00a0second leg match between\u00a0Celtic FC<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Linfield FC<\/strong>\u00a0(4-0), played on 19 July in Scotland.<\/em><\/p>\n Charges against Celtic FC:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0Illicit banner \u2013 Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations\u00a0<\/em> This case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on\u00a028 July 2017<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n The club responded;<\/p>\n Any support for a paramilitary or proscribed terrorist organisation has no place at Celtic Park. The Club has been consistent in condemning such conduct on the very few occasions in the past when it has occurred at Celtic Park. It is unfortunate that such a small minority of the crowd at Celtic Park last night behaved in such a way.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n We know that the Celtic support will join us in condemning such behaviour. Events last night have resulted in charges from UEFA in relation to the paramilitary banners and unsafe behaviour in a section of the Celtic support. The Club has commenced an inquiry and will take appropriate action.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n No wonder they are pissed off.<\/p>\n December 2011:\u00a0Celtic are fined \u00a312,700 by UEFA after fans make pro-IRA chants during a Europa League clash with Rennes in Glasgow.<\/em><\/p>\n March 2012:\u00a0The Parkhead outfit are again punished with a \u00a321,000 penalty after supporters set off fireworks and unveil an insulting banner aimed at UEFA during their Europa League fixture with Udinese at the Stadio Friuli in Italy.<\/em><\/p>\n September 2012: The use of fireworks at Celtic Park during a Champions League qualifier with Cliftonville costs the Scottish title winners another \u00a34,200 as they are again found guilty of “improper supporter conduct”.<\/em><\/p>\n December\u00a02013:\u00a0A fourth fine of around \u00a342,000 is issued to the club after the Green Brigade unveils “illicit” banners\u00a0depicting IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands and Scottish historical figure William Wallace before Champions League group match with AC Milan.<\/em><\/p>\n September 2014:\u00a0UEFA again cracks down on the Hoops, this time issuing a \u00a315,900 fine after fans display a Palestinian flag during a Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik.<\/em><\/p>\n February 2015:\u00a0Clashes between fans and Croatian police, as well as the use of fireworks during a Europa League group stage match against Dinamo Zagreb, sees Celtic receive a \u00a37,300 bill from disciplinary bosses.<\/em><\/p>\n March 2015: Parkhead chiefs are given another \u00a33,600 fine just a month later, this time after flares were set off by travelling supporters during a Europa League round of 32 clash with Inter Milan in the San Siro.<\/em><\/p>\n February 2016:\u00a0The use of pyrotechnics again lands Celtic in trouble as they receive a \u00a310,000 fine following a Europa League tie with Fenerbahce in\u00a0Istanbul\u00a0\u2013 although a portion of this is related to the “improper conduct” of the team.<\/em><\/p>\n Need I go on ?<\/p>\n Even if the club avoids stand closures , its a shocking waste of money.<\/p>\n But hey-up the RA !<\/p>\n How long is it going to take for it to sink in that it’s UEFA’s competition, and they make the rules ?<\/p>\n The club needs the money from participation, and you would think that the section of the support currently eating away at revenue would realise that.<\/p>\n Then again…<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Moussa Dembele hasn;t let his halo slip..<\/p>\n but it seems the Green Brigade are happy to chuck the one they earned through some great work as far away from them as possible.<\/p>\n It’ll all end in tears.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Emilio Izaguirre, a long time Celt and a man who truly bought into the ethos of everything Celtic is about, without illicit banners, leaves the club this week.<\/p>\n this trip down memory lane comes from wikipedia..<\/p>\n Izaguirre agreed a four-year contract with\u00a0Scottish Premier League<\/a>\u00a0side\u00a0Celtic<\/a>\u00a0on 18 August 2010, subject to receiving a\u00a0work permit<\/a>.[7]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0He signed for a \u00a3650,000 fee[4]<\/a><\/sup>[8]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0and was given the number 3 shirt.[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0He made his SPL debut in a 1\u20130 victory at\u00a0Motherwell<\/a>\u00a0on 29 August,[9]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0giving a solid performance that drew plaudits from Celtic manager\u00a0Neil Lennon<\/a>[10]<\/a><\/sup>and Motherwell counterpart\u00a0Craig Brown<\/a>.[11]<\/a><\/sup>[12]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0On 19 September, Izaguirre set up\u00a0Anthony Stokes<\/a>\u00a0for the winning goal in a 2\u20131 victory over\u00a0Kilmarnock<\/a>\u00a0at\u00a0Rugby Park<\/a>.[13]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0On 30 October, he scored his first Celtic goal against\u00a0St Johnstone<\/a>, where he intercepted a back pass then flicked the ball over St Johnstone centre back\u00a0Dave MacKay<\/a>,[14]<\/a><\/sup>[15]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0before slotting a goal under the goalkeeper. The game ended 3\u20130 to Celtic, with Izaguirre awarded\u00a0man of the match<\/a>\u00a0for his performance.[16]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In Celtic’s 3\u20130 victory over Rangers on 20 February 2011, he set up\u00a0Gary Hooper<\/a>‘s second goal.[17]<\/a><\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n In the\u00a02011 League Cup Final<\/a>\u00a0defeat to\u00a0Old Firm<\/a>\u00a0rivals\u00a0Rangers<\/a>, Izaguirre was sent off in extra time for a foul on\u00a0Vladim\u00edr Weiss<\/a>.[18]<\/a><\/sup>[19]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0On 6 April 2011, he had another man of the match performance against\u00a0Hibernian<\/a>\u00a0in a 3\u20131 victory,[20]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0setting up Stokes for the first goal of the game.[21]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0In the 2010\u201311 SPL season, Izaguirre achieved a clean sweep of available senior player awards as chosen by players, organisations and the Celtic supporters. Izaguirre won both the\u00a0SPFA Players’ Player of the Year<\/a>[22]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0and Scottish Premier League Player of the Year[23]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0awards for 2010\u201311.
