<\/p>\nThose of you who read the diary on Saturday may have noticed that I was not my usual , jolly , happy go lucky sort of self, with a smile on my lips and a song in my heart as I strode purposefully from the Merchant city towards Celtic Park.<\/p>\n
There was something niggling away at the back of my mind. The diary doesn;t usually appear when I go to the game as it usually takes a couple of hours or so, and when your train leaves Crewe at 6am, there’s not much room for manoeuvre. By the way, six goes at spelling that, and all of them got the squiggly red line of the spellchecker.<\/p>\n
But on this occassion I diverted from the normal pre match ritual of getting into the ground and taking a seat, and tottered off to a bar-The Tolbooth-to put together a few words to mark exactly how I felt at that moment, meaning that I’d remember it the next time i came to discuss the attitude and actions of our current custodians over the questions that need to be asked over certain decision taken and rules either bent or broken a few years ago.<\/p>\n
Otherwise, the happy go lucky fellow i am might well have just shrigged his shoulders and said to himself that its kind of what we expected anyway.<\/p>\n

But it, to me at least, its even worse than what we could have expected.<\/p>\n
How can I best put this for maximum effect ?<\/p>\n
Well, there’s not really any need to jazz it up.<\/p>\n
Last Thursday, representatives of the club finally met with representatives of the shareholders behind the \u00a0Resolution 12 movement, and its can best be described as a full and frank exchange of views.<\/p>\n
Not because the club said that they aren’t going to pursue it. In many ways that would have been so much better.<\/p>\n
But because the impression I got was that the club were merely paying lip service to the guys, and that deep down they still hoped it would all go away.<\/p>\n
What caused, shall we say, an escalation of the full and frank exchange of views, was when it dawned on the ;lads that Celtics representatives hadn;t even bothered to look at the smoking gun, or even asked what sort of gun it was.<\/p>\n
The lack of preparation on their behalf to a meeting with some shareholders who have put more than four years of work into trying to expose what at best os collusion and at worst corruption in our game is shameful.<\/p>\n
Its indicative of an attitude that seems to show that now “rangers ” are back, and tv companies are interested in the greatest derby in the world, the support, especially those who are seen by the board not to live in the real world, are little more than an irritating sideshow who should have been placated by the fact we’ve got a half decent manager in who is being allowed to spend a few quid.<\/p>\n
Now that the club has woken from the stupor of the last four “rangers ” free years, they’ve made it perfectly clear that they are glad to have them back, and are not in the least bit interested in dealing with the issues that arose before, during and after the initial crash of the initial Ibrox club.<\/p>\n
Not for the first time, we have seen that what concerns the support, the trifling matter of decency, honesty , fair play and transparency is a major inconvenience to those whose primary concern is to make money.<\/p>\n
Not solely for the dinner tables of porr children, but for those who sit at another table, one upon which food and drink will never be scarce.<\/p>\n
Sport demands a level playing field. Otherwise its not sport.<\/p>\n
Celtic was founded on certain principles. If those principles are to be ignored, then its not Celtic.<\/p>\n
One of those principles corresponds with integrity, which is exactly what is missing from Scottish football at the moment.<\/p>\n
On a wider scale, and with possible legal implications, shareholders have presented a business with evidence that the business has been cheated out of substantial revenue.<\/p>\n
At the very least they should be interested in looking at this evidence.<\/p>\n
Its called respect, and if the club has no respect for the shareholders, then it follows they have no respect for the support.<\/p>\n
Thats you and me, by the way.<\/p>\n
There is still time for them to do something about this.<\/p>\n
They could start by showing a little respect for the work the guys have put into it.<\/p>\n
